Fantasy is not my favorite genre, but my husband wrote this book and I had to read it because the plot sounded so fun! I quite liked some of the variations this world had compared to our own, based on how history had been changed. I also really enjoyed how familiar characters stayed true to how I expected, and also how new characters interacted with the old. The mystery was also excellently crafted, and really pulled you in. Even though it wasn't a very long read. It was still a great book. I deducted one star because the interaction between Holmes and Denizen were unsatisfying. Overall, this book is very entertaining, and my kids, who enjoy fantasy and historical fiction LOVED it!

Holmes with a flair for witchcraft is on the case! Lots of familiar characters and an über bad guy too. Fun to read.

Warlock Holmes

An interesting take on Sherlock Holmes. A good introduction to all of the characters and I hope there are more stories to come

A fantastic read for any Holmes fans! In this wonderful telling of Great Britain's favorite detective, Holmes finds himself as a warlock who once again teams up with his sidekick Watson as they try to crack a caper of a stolen safehold. Holmes's wittiness and at times arrogant nature finds him originally butting heads with a cowboy-like American Marshall, Patrick Twain (grandson to the writer) as they both try to cull evidence that will lead them in the direction of the would be masterminds. As the story progresses, Holmes, Watson, and Twain rely on the help of a whole myriad of well-developed characters to help them solve the mystery. There are kindly street thugs, a blind woman referred to as a seer who can see visions, and an Inn keep who is as wise as she is thoughtful. Kendel Saunders does a fantastic job in keeping the pace of the story steady and entertaining to the reader. At times the story becomes a bit complex, but Saunders clear and fluent writing style comes through in keeping the storyline focused. I highly recommend Warlock Holmes for any Holmes fans, you won't be disappointed. A++ Kendel Saunders. Can't wait for the next tale!!
