The Henry Bins series is going on book five right now, and its still almost as awesome as in the very beginning, and a WHOLE LOT OF FUN! After the big finale of the last one with all the mindbending events and revelations, I for some reason thought this time it would just be a lot of fun & games between Henry and his cat Lassie with all the hijinks involving Henry's upcoming wedding, and nothing much more. Nope, boy was I wrong! Don't get me wrong, there was still plenty of ever enjoyable fun & games from those two idiots, also joining the party is Lassie's son the cutest little kitten 'Archie', but the main mystery/story started from the second chapter and it was as epic as could be come by in this novella series. Which did in fact involve the wedding. I'm not spoiling it here, but rest assured as with all the previous installments in this superb series, the pages simply flown by themselves, and before I could blink (at least felt like it) it was over. And as always, I was thoroughly enthralled and thoroughly entertained.

Although, if I had to nitpick, there was a couple of coincidences in the story which I was not a big fan of. But I guess in real life coincidences do happen all the time, and those coincidences were not that glaring. Another thing is, for the first time ever, shifting the point-of-view of the storytelling from Henry to other people in alternate chapters. It took away the central ongoing uniqueness of the series where the main character can only be awake for an hour a day and had to solve impossible mysteries within that time limit, by using it very creatively. When you shift it to other normal people in normal time of the day, then it just begin to turn into any other run of the mill mystery novel (novella in this case). But that's a tiny thing, because in spite of that, all the big twists and solutions came from Henry Bins himself and the climax was all him as well. And to be fair, when you have an incident this BIG, you have to show what's happening all day long when Henry's asleep. It was also refreshing to see from the POV of Ingrid for the first time, which made her a rather relatable character to the reader beside Henry, and now that they're married, I'm guessing they both will be sharing the pages of the next books, and I for one don't have any problem with that. Not to mention it also made her character much more fleshed out than in the previous books. So in retrospect, I think this point wasn't a nitpick after all.

Over all, as I said previously relating the earlier stories of this series, for such a short novella with only a hundred or so pages and a couple of hours of quick read, you can't ask for a better piece of fulltoos fun entertainment. The pace is blisteringly fast, the plot is utterly engrossing, precise placement of some very good twists when its needed, all our favorite characters from Henry to Lassie to Henry's dad to Ingrid to Murdock the dog remain as endearing and likable as ever with a welcome addition of Archie the kitten, and the amazing interactions between Henry and Lassie remains just as hilarious. I was literally on the edge of my bed sitting upright during the pure nail-biting suspense of the second half! To me, Henry Bins series is like the very definition of: Absolute blissful fun read in one sitting for couple of hours. I can't ask for anything more.

And just like before, damn you Nick Pirog for that cliffhanger at the very end! As if I needed any more reason to wait impatiently for the upcoming final two books in the series: 3:53 a.m. and finally, 4:00 a.m.

৩ এ.এম সিরিজ শেষ করলাম,মোটের উপর ভালোই ছিল। শেষ পর্বটা,আশানুরূপ হয়নি।
কেন জানি মনে হয়েছে অহেতুক টেনে লম্বা করা হয়েছে কাহিনি।
হেনরির সাথে ল্যাসি,ম্যারডক আর আর্চির খুনসুটি ভালো লেগেছে কিন্তু এর অতিশয় পুনরাবৃত্তি মাঝেমধ্যে বিরক্তবোধ সৃষ্টি করেছে।
অন্যান্য পর্বগুলোর ন্যায় এখানে সাসপেন্স সেভাবে ছিল না।প্রেসিডেন্ট অপহরণের মত ঘটনার অবতারণা করেছেন লেখক এই পর্বে তাই আশা করেছিলাম অনেক বেশি সাসপেন্স আর উত্তেজনা থাকবে কিন্তু সেরকম কিছু হয়নি।
যায় হোক লেখকের ৩ এ.এম সিরিজের আগামী পর্বগুলো পড়ার অপেক্ষায় রইলাম।
যেহেতু অনুবাদ পড়েছি ৩ এ.এম সিরিজের তাই বলবো অনুবাদক খুব সুন্দর করে প্রত্যেকটি ঘটনা তার লেখনী দিয়ে প্রকাশ করেছেন,কখনো মনে হয়নি অনুবাদ পড়ছি।

শেষ হয়েও হল না শেষ! ভেবেছিলাম এটাই বোধহয় হেনরি বিনস সিরিজের শেষ বই! কিন্তু না এমন এক জায়গায় গিয়ে শেষ হয়েছে যে, পরের টা পড়ার জন্য মাথা গরম হয়ে যাচ্ছে! কিন্তু কিছু করার নেই, আরো কত কাল অপেক্ষা করতে হবে পরের দুটা সিরিজের জন্য তা লেখকই জানেন!

"3.46 AM" শুরু হয় হেনরি আর ইনগ্রিডের বিয়ের অনুষ্ঠান দিয়ে, মাত্র ১ ঘন্টার অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দেন স্বয়ং আমেরিকার প্রেসিডেন্ট 'কনর সুলিভান'... অনুষ্ঠান চলছিল ঠিক মতই, কিন্তু তার মধ্যে ঘটে গেল ভয়ংকর এক ঘটনা! তিনজন সন্ত্রাসী এসে অপহনর করে নিয়ে গেল 'আমেরিকার প্রেসিডেন্ট' কে... খবর ছড়িয়ে পড়তেই কাজে লেগে গেলো সারা বিশ্বের সব বড় বড় গোয়েন্দা সংস্থা। ইনগ্রিড এবং হেনরিও ভাবতে লাগলো কে বা কারা অপহরণ করতে পারে প্রেসিডেন্ট কে? হেনরি কি পারবে প্রেসিডেন্ট কে উদ্ধার করে, পৃথিবী কে ৩য় বিশ্বযুদ্ধের হাত থেকে বাঁচাতে? তা জনতে হলে পড়তে হবে শ্বাসরুদ্ধকর কাহিনী "3.46 AM".

আগের গুলার মত এই বইটাও আমার অসম্ভব ভালো লেগেছে। আর এবার ল্যাসির সাথে যোগ দিয়েছে ল্যাসির ছেলে আর্চি। হেনরি এবং ল্যাসির কথোপকথনই হল এই সিরিজের মেইন চার্ম। অন্যান্য সিরিজের মত এত গতি সম্পন্ন না এই বইটা, মুল গল্প শুরু হয়েছে ১০০ পেজের পর থেকে। এটাই একমাত্র হতাশার কারন আমার। কিন্তু, ১০০ পেজের পর আমার নিশ্বাস বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছিল এতই বেশি থ্রিল ছিল গল্পে!

বরাবরের মতই, সালমান হক অনেক সাবলীল অনুবাদ করেছে যা আমার কাছে খুব ভালো লেগেছে।

Just read these five books back to back, thinking this is all there was. Glad to learn there are two more, however, disappointed I have to wait for them! I love this series! A unique premise with great storylines. Always full of surprises! Love the new character, Archie.

লেখক আবারও সব পেঁচাই ফেললেন। প্রেসিডেন্ট কিডন্যাপের মত একটা প্লটকে নিয়ে ছেলেখেলা করা কোনোভাবেই মানা যায় না। একদম শেষের কিছু পাতা ছাড়া এতবড় একটা ঘটনার যে টানটান উত্তেজনা দরকার ছিল তা বেমালুম গায়েব বইটা থেকে। নতুনত্ব নেই তেমন কিছুই। তবে অদ্ভুত ব্যাপার যে ল্যাসির সাথে হেনরির কথোপকথন প্রথম বই থেকে বেখাপ্পা লাগলেও ধীরে ধীরে তা ভালো লাগায় পরিণত হয়েছে। প্লাস পয়েন্ট? ওই ল্যাসি, মারডক আর আর্চি!! বাকী সবটাই এলোমেলো।

যদিও ১০০ পৃষ্ঠার মত বইটা তারপরেও সাসপেন্স থ্রিল কম ছিল না । ও হ্যা টুইস্টও। আর হেনরি আর ল্যাসির কথোপকথন তো আছেই , এখন তো সাথে নতুন অতিথিও যোগ দিয়েছে। এক বসায় পড়ে উঠবার মত বই।

This is a short read. But sorry to say this was not as fascinating as the previous four. Although this a short story, i think this time writer extends it without any good reason. And there are so many plotholes, I hope which will be cleared by next two books. I loved the wedding scene. So get ready for last two henry bin adventure.

'হেনরি বিনস' সিন্ড্রোমে আক্রান্ত হেনরি বিনস আর নর্মাল কন্ডিশনের ইনগ্রিডের বিয়ে। থ্রি ‌এএম সিরিজের পঞ্চম পর্ব এটি��

উল্লেখিত সিরিজের সাথে পরিচিত সবাই জানেন দিনের ১ ঘন্টা জেগে থাকা এবং ২৩ ঘন্টা ঘুমিয়ে কাটানোই হলো এ অদ্ভুত সিন্ড্রোম।

হুমায়ূন ���হমেদ এ উপন্যাসিকা লিখলে হয়তো নামকরণ করতেন, "আজ হেনরির বিয়ে"।

এক ঘন্টার মধ্যেই হেনরি-ইনগ্রিডের বিয়ের অনুষ্ঠান সম্পন্ন করতে হবে অর্থাৎ ২৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি রাত ৩ টা থেকে ৪ টার ভিতরে।

বিবাহ অনুষ্ঠানের এরকম টাইট স্কেজিউলে এসে হাজির হলেন আমেরিকার সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তি। অনুষ্ঠানস্থলেই ঘটে গেলো একগাদা দুর্ভাগ্যজনক ঘটনা।

ঘটনা আরো প্যাঁচ খেলো যখন অকুস্থল হতে অপহৃত হলেন স্বয়ং কনর সুলিভান। ধারণা করা হচ্ছে আরবের উগ্রপন্থীদের হাতে কিডন্যাপড হয়েছেন প্রেসিডেন্ট।

ঘটনাপরম্পরা সৃষ্টি করতে যাচ্ছে আরেক যুদ্ধ-বিগ্রহের। সদ্য বিবাহিত হেনরি-ইনগ্রিডের কপালে এরকম দুঃখ লেগেই থাকে। তবে এবারের ষড়যন্ত্র শুরু করতে পারে তৃতীয় মহাযুদ্ধের।

তীব্র তুষাড়ঝড়ের মাঝে আসলেই কি মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়েছে ইউএস‌এর রাষ্ট্রপতিকে? সকল ধরণের দেশি-বিদেশি গোয়েন্দা সংস্থা তৎপর হয়ে উঠলো।

কিন্তু পথে যে অনেক বাঁধা-বিপত্তি। প্রবল তুষারপাতের কারণে ফোন, মোবাইল, ইন্টারনেটের অবস্থা তথৈবচ। ওদিকে উগ্রপন্থীরা সময় নির্ধারণ করে দিয়েছে। হেনরির নিজের হাতেই থাকে পুরো দিনে এক ঘন্টা। অজস্র গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রতিষ্ঠানের পাশাপাশি রিচার্ড এবং হেনরি বিনসকেও হয়তো নেমে পড়তে হতে পারে প্রেসিডেন্ট উদ্ধার অভিযানে।

এ পর্যন্ত আমার পড়া থ্রি : এএম সিরিজের সবচেয়ে রোমাঞ্চকর যাত্রা এটি‌ই। হেনরি বিনসের উচ্চ বুদ্ধিমত্তা সম্পর্কে এবং এর পিছনের মূল কাহিনী আমরা আগের পর্বেই পাঠ করেছি। এ পর্বে তা আবার প্রকাশ পেয়েছে।

নিক পিরোগের লেখনিতে এবারকার টানটান উত্তেজনাটা অনেক কারণেই ছিলো। বিভিন্ন প্রতিরক্ষা-গোয়েন্দা সংস্থার সবাই ছুটছে একটি ডেডলাইনকে কেন্দ্র করে। আর নিক পিরোগ তো হেনরি বিনসকে ঐ সিন্ড্রোম দিয়ে এমনিতেই প্রতিদিন এক ধরণের ডেডলাইনে রাখেন। তাই নভেলাটিতে সাসপেন্স, টুইস্টে লেখক ভালো কাজ করতে পেরেছেন।

অনুবাদে সালমান হক ভালো কাজ করেছেন। তবে একটি মুদ্রণপ্রমাদের পুরো ব‌ই জুড়ে 'আমেরিকাকা' করে বেড়ানোটা খানিকটা হাঁসির উদ্রেক ঘটিয়েছে।

থ্রি : এএম সিরিজে হেনরির সাথে পালক বিড়াল ল্যাসি, বাবার প্যাট ডগ মারডক এবং নতুন অতিথি আর্চির ( ল্যাসির বাচ্চা ) খুনশুটি বরাবরের মতোই এক ধরণের কমিক রিলিফ দিয়ে থাকে।

মূলত হেনরির দিনের এক ঘন্টার ডেডলাইন এবং প্রেসিডেন্টকে উদ্ধার তৎপরতার ডেডলাইন একীভূত হ‌ওয়াতে ব‌ইটি বেশ উপভোগ্য হয়েছে। নিক পিরোগের লেখার হাত এ ধারায় ভালো।

তাছাড়া এন্ডিং লেখক এমনভাবে দেন, পরবর্তি পর্ব পড়তে আগ্রহ জেগে ওঠে। এখন পর্যন্ত এ সিরিজের থ্রি : টুয়েন্টিওয়ান ( এ পর্বের নিন্দামন্দ করেন অনেকে ) এবং থ্রি : ফরটিসিক্স আমার সবচেয়ে ভালো লাগার মধ্যে আছে।

লেখকের কথা অনুসারে আরো দুটো ব‌ই আসছে এ সিরিজের। থ্রি : ফিফটিথ্রি এএম এবং ফোর এএম। 3: 53 AM এর কভার দেখেছি বেশ কিছুদিন আগেই। অনেক বছর পর প্রকাশিতব্য পর্বটি আশা করছি নিক আরো ভালো লিখেছেন।

কারণ হেনরি বিনসের মায়ের পর এখন রিচার্ড বিনসকে নিয়েও এখন নতুন রহস্য শুরু হয়েছে।

অন্য থ্রিলার এর সাথে এই সিরিজটার মূল পার্থক্য হল পিরোগ সাহেব (নাকি ভাই!) বড্ড বেশী টুইস্ট দেন আর খুব বেশী লুপ হোল রাখেন না গল্পের মাঝে। আর টুইস্ট গুলো এত্ত বেশী কল্পনীয় থাকে যে তা অনুমান করা আপনার পক্ষে সম্ভব নয়, তাই বলে যা ইচ্ছা তা চালিয়ে দেন তাও কিন্তু না। প্রত্যেকটার মত এই বই এর শেষেও একটা বোম্ব আছে যা পরের টা না পড়া পর্যন্ত আপনাকে মানসিক যন্ত্রণা দিতে থাকবে ।

থ্রি এ এম থেকে থ্রি ফরটি সিক্স এ এম পর্যন্ত ৫ পাচ টি বই ই পড়লাম।
মিস্টার হেনরি বিন্স যিনি কেবল দিনের তেইশ ঘন্টা ঘুমিয়ে কাটান আর কেবল মাত্র এক ঘন্টা জেগে থাকেন।
আর সেই এই ঘন্টার মাঝে কত কি করা যেতে পারে এবং কতটা সুক্ষ্ণভাবে সময়ের বন্টন করে জীবন টা কে কাটিয়ে দেয়া যায় তা যেন ফুটিয়ে তুলেছেন। সময়ের মূল্যটা আমরা যথেষ্ট বুঝিনা হয়তো অফুরন্ত সময় আছে বলে।

গল্পে আসি প্রথম বইটা বেশ আনন্দের সহিত ই শেষ করেছি বলতে গেলে এক বসাতে পড়ে শেষ করে উঠেছি। ততটা জোড়ালো না হলেও কিংবা প্রচলিত গোয়েন্দাগিরি স্টাইলের না হলেও যথেষ্ট উপভোগ্য ছিলো।
প্রতি টা গল্পের ই আলাদা করে একটা প্লট কিংবা মিমাংসার জন্য হেনরি বিন্স এর যুক্ত থাকা এবং তার অসাধারন বুদ্ধিমত্তার পরিচয় দেয়া।
তবে মাঝে মাঝে খুবই বিরক্ত লেগেছে বিশেষ করে ২য় পর্ব থেকে পঞ্চম পর্ব পর্যন্ত , মনে হলো বিড়াল ল্যাসি আর কুকুর মারডক এর সাথে সংলাপ গুলা অতিরঞ্জিত হয়ে গেছে।
লেখক হয়তো একটু ভিন্নতার জন্য এমন টা করেছেন তবে আমার কাছে সেইটা একঘেয়েমি লেগে গেছে।
শেষ দিকে এসে আর ভালো লাগছিলোনা।

এছাড়া বই গুলা পড়তে কোনো সমস্যা ই হবেনা।যথেষ্ট উপভোগ্য হবে। একটু ভিন্নরকম স্বাদ পেতে গেলে আর কি।
অভার অল সবগুলা কে মিলিয়ে আমার কাছে রেটিং ৩.৭৭★ দিতে মন চাচ্ছে।☺️

নিক পিরোগের সাথে আমার পরিচয় '3:00 AM'' সিরিজ দিয়ে। অনেক আগ্রহ নিয়ে প্রতিটি বই পড়েছি।

সিরিজের শেষ (এখন পর্যন্ত প্রকাশিত) বইটা পড়ে সত্যিই একটু আশাহত হলাম। 3:21 AM পড়েও খুব একটা ভাল লাগেনি, বাট সেটা 3:34 কিছুটা পুষিয়ে দিয়েছিল। বাট, 3:46 একেবারেই ভাল লাগেনি।

এখন, দেখা যাক লেখকের প্রতিশ্রুতিমত পরবর্তী দুইটা পার্ট কবে বের হয়, আর কি টুইস্ট অপেক্ষা করে আছে।

এ সিরিজের বেস্ট বই এটা! বাকীগুলো কবে আসবে??

আজ হেনরির বিয়ে। বাংলাদেশের কোন লেখকের লেখা হলে হয়ত এমন নাম পেতে যেতাম আমরা।

লেখা পড়েই বুঝতে পারছেন যে কি ঘটতে চলছে বইয়ে। ম্যাড়মেড়ে কোন একটা বিয়ের খুটি নাটি বর্ননা হয়ত। কিন্তু এটা হেনরি বিনস, মিস্টার বিনস না। তাই তার লাইফে যে কোন কিছুই স্বাভাবিক ভাবে ঘটবে না এটা জানা কথা।

যা হবার তাই, প্রেসিডেন্টের দাওয়াত গ্রহন এবং অপহরন হওয়া নিয়ে কাহিনী সামনে আগায়, তবে অপহরনকারীদের সাধুবাদ দিতে হয় তারা বিয়ে শেষ হওয়া পর্যন্ত অপেক্ষা করেছিল।

কাহিনী আগাতে থাকে এবং বরাবরের মতই সব কিছু হেনরিকে ঘিরেই আপর্তিত হয়, সব কিছু বেশীই সহজ ভাবে ধরা দেয় তার হাতে। সে কি পারবে প্রেসিডেন্ট কে উদ্ধার করতে?


পাঠ প্রতিক্রিয়াঃ ক্লিফ হাংগ্যার কাকে বলে তার এ টু যেড দেখে ফেললাম এই হেনরি বিনস সিরিজ পড়তে গিয়ে। বইয়ের লাস্ট অনুচ্ছেদে একটা করে বোম্ব ড্রপ না করলে ভাল্লাগে না নিগ পিরোগ সাহেবের। এই বইও তার ব্যাতিক্রম না। তার ভূমিকা থেকেই জানা যায় আরও ২টা বই আসবে এই সিরিজের। কখন আসবে সেটার অপেক্ষায় দিন গুনতে হচ্ছে। মানসিক অত্যাচার একটা।

সিরিজের প্রথম বইটায় হেনরি বিনসের এক ঘন্টার এক দিনের ব্যাপারটা আমাকে বেশ আলোড়িত ও রোমাঞ্চিত করে তুলেছিল। একে একে তাই প্রকাশিত পরবর্তী আরো তিনটা বইও পড়ে শেষ করেছিলাম তুমুল আগ্রহে। এই বইটা বাদ ছিল। আজ এই থ্রি ফরটি সিক্সও পড়া শেষ হল।

এই বইটাকে প্রথমের মত আকর্ষণীয় করে তুলতে পারেন নি লেখক। অনুবাদকের অনুবাদ বেশ সাবলীল। লেখক নিজেই এতে নতুন কোন টুইস্ট আনেন নি বা আনতে পারেন নি। তিন গোয়েন্দা সিরিজে এত এত বই যে আজো কৌতুহলী রোমাঞ্চপ্রিয় পাঠককে ধরে রেখেছে তিন গোয়েন্দা।
থ্রি এ এম সিরিজের পঞ্চম বইতে এসেই লেখক কেমন একটা একঘেয়েমি তৈরি করে ফেলেছেন।

Sigh. Henry Bins.

Henry Bins has a condition that only allows him one waking hour per 24 hours.

There are plenty of reviews that talk about the story, how Nick balances action, emotion and humor in a book you will not be able to put down.

I would like to talk about two other things. One is kinda silly and one..not so much.

For the silly. In the first book, Henry was adopted by a sassy cat he named Lassie. Lassie is a character in his own right. (There are even two Lassie books out now!). Henry can talk to Lassie. I don't know if he does or just pretends he does. But I'd like to think Yes, he does.

Those conversations are some of the highlights of the book. In the last book, Lassie met a lovely marmalade female cat and now we have the kitten Archie to add to the cast of delight. On to Murdock, a huge English Mastiff, who is Lassie's best friend (outside of Henry that is). Lassie rides around on Murdock's back like a pony quite often and they exist to BE. To live in the present. To live every day like it is precious and never to be taken for granted. In a way, that ties into my second point.

We take our time for granted. Imagine living your life one hour only. You schedule your shower to 2 minutes. You run for 8. You weight train while watching 10 min of game of thrones. You've only seen 27 movies in your entire life. You read 4 pages a day of a book. You drink all the time during that hour and eat high energy and protein food as you have weaned your body off the need to have IVs. You have only precious minutes to communicate with your family.

Can you have a relationship? A family? Imagine how it must be to know you only have 60 minutes from 3:00 am to 4:am daily to be conscious. Now Henry is exceptionally bright and works as a day (night) trader so he is comfortably weathly and can afford a cleaner/cook and PA. Someone who understands and even puts the tooth paste on the tooth brush for him to save that extra few seconds. He has all his food prepared to reheat in a few minutes.

He Lives. He Thrives. I had to evaluate my day. He accomplishes more in 60 seconds than I do in 17 hours.

I know he is fictional. But the lesson is real. We take time for granted. Henry doesn't. And that is what makes this book something unlike anything out there. I love Thomas Prescott but he will never top Henry Bins.

Henry gets married in this one (no spolier, the subtitle is "The Wedding"). And I couldn't be happier for him and Ingrid.

Two more books are planned and I can't wait. And hopefully there will be more Lassie, Murdock, Archie and the two little hamsters that will steal your heart.

I would definitely wake up at 3:00 am and have a game of chess with Henry once a week. He lives more in 60 seconds than most of us do in a full waking day. And that is worth remembering. Learn from the past, plan for the future but LIVE in the now.

You can’t leave us hanging like that!!! What about the baby? What about Richard? What about the dog! Is Henry going to be cured? So many unanswered question! I’m also very suspicious of the presidents “kidnapping” he was slipping in the polls and suddenly his kidnapping gives him a boost .. hmmmmm
But!! We had a wedding!! A grand wedding and Henry and Irene were in their element before it all went go heck.
Now where is book 6!!!

কি একটা অবস্থা! রহস্যময় পরিবেশ বিরাজ করছে কিন্তু কিছুটা ধীরে। শেষের টুইস্টাই আটকে গেলাম!



3:46 এর মাধ্যমে পুরো সিরিজ টা শেষ করলাম, প্রথম বই(03:00am) পড়ার পর ভাবছিলামা ভালো লাগবে না, কিন্তু ব্যাপার টা পুরোপুরি উলটা ঘটছে! অসাধারণ ছিলো সবমিলিয়ে।
পরের বই গুলোর জন্য নিশ্চয়ই অপেক্ষা করবো।

Another great read/listen by Nick Pirog! I really enjoyed this book in the series and I hope there will be more. It has comedy, wit, suspense and romance. Everything that I could ask for in a great book.

Truly a unique, exciting, and somewhat terrifying ride. This was an enjoyable story line and I will have to get book 6 very soon to see how it ends.
