Holly Kuhn is on the hunt for The Tree, but could she possibly find The One along the way?

Next to Santa Claus, Holly Kuhn has one of the most important Christmas jobs out there. She’s the Director of Horticulture at Rockefeller Center, which means she’s in charge of finding the biggest and most perfect Norway spruce and transporting it to Manhattan. When she stumbles upon The Tree of her dreams on an idyllic Massachusetts dairy farm, Miss Christmas—as she’s called—is on seventh heaven. That is, until she meets the farm’s owner, handsome Sam McCary, and discovers he doesn’t share her holiday spirit.

Will Holly be able to convince him to share his tree with the world? Or will workaholic Holly learn that sometimes there’s something even more important than tinsel-trapped success?

Join Holly and Sam—along with a colorful supporting cast and charming small town—as they discover that Christmas miracles are all around us, if we’re only willing to see them in plain sight.

Note: This is an expanded and updated version. There are additional scenes from 2015's edition. It's also hopefully going to be on Hallmark's 2017 movie line-up.

This short book was so sweet. I enjoyed it. The story was very beautiful, but the last chapter was way to rushed. I would have liked to read a little bit more about the relationship of Sam and Holly.
But I could feel the Christmas spirit and this is the most important.
Favorite quotes:
“Christmas trees should be authentic, plucked from actual forests rather than hauled down from the attic and smelling like mothballs and grandmas.”
"He has a face that can launch a million daydreams and the spirit of a Scrooge."
"There are second chances as long as you stick around long enough for them. The waiting is the hardest part."
"Trees have roots, both in the ground and in the heart."
"It's amazing how some days pass totally unannounced and are quickly forgotten, while other days make us feel like we've lived a thousand lives in twenty-four hours."

Cute Christmas novella, although it lacked final editing (a few sentences stopped in the middle, and quite a few punctuation marks were missing). Overall I really enjoyed the adorable story, though!

When I heard that "Miss Christmas" was being made into a Hallmark movie, I knew I wanted to read the book first. I finished reading it somewhat disappointed.

While "Miss Christmas" has an interesting premise, there is zero chemistry between Holly and Sam. In fact, when Holly impulsively kisses Sam about 3/4 of the way through the novella, my first thought was, "Why did she even want to do that?" Also, Joe, the nine-year-old whose letter brings Holly to the tree in the first place, speaks like he's an adult. Then there are the cameos by Taylor Swift, Matt Lauer, and Al Roker, which felt completely contrived. There was a lack of authenticity to the story that bothered me.

That said, it is a clean, fast Christmas read; I just didn't really care about the characters or the plot.

However, the Hallmark Christmas movie that's based on this novella is wonderful--you definitely will want to give it a watch!

Miss Christmas: A heartwarming romance and 2017 Hallmark film by Gigi Garrett
This story starts out on and ocean island where Holly and her friend Erin in July are vacationing at the beach.
Holly is now the new Rockefeller Center tree coordinator and it's her first time choosing the tree. She's grown up around trees her whole life having stepped into her dads shoes at the Christmas tree farm in Ohio.
On their way back to the mainland she gets a text and a picture of the perfect tree and she heads to Klaus, MA where she meets Sam who's land the tree sits on. She stays in town at a relatives house, love the blueberry festival and how the town welcomes her. B&B has everything anybody would ever want.
She is introduced to the father of the land and he and his daughter agree she can come back and spend the whole day with them and get to know them better before they decide.
After she spends the whole day learning about what is important to each one she knows Sam is set against the tree being cut down and she heads to her car in defeat.
Recall letting our tree go as well and that is what touched me about this story. Great timing and like the adventure they all go on from start to finish. Such a magical story.

Very cute holiday novella. The HEA was a bit over-the-top, but it inspired a Hallmark movie, so why not? I'm looking forward to watching said movie tonight :)

In 2017, I fell face-first into the cheesy wonder of Hallmark Christmas movies. I couldn't get enough of them. One of my favorites was called Miss Christmas. It was so cute. The hero and heroine had such fantastic chemistry. I watched it multiple times. Imagine my surprise when I was researching holiday romance novels in December 2018, I learned that very movie was based on a novella. Needless to say, I didn't waste any time one-clicking it.

Miss Christmas was so stinking cute. If I'm being honest, I liked the movie better (I know, *gasp*) but the novella was a fun, sweet holiday story. I had the perfect visual to go along with it, too, as the characters were fresh in my brain after re-watching the movie. What happens when a grumpy farmer and a woman who lives for Christmas — and finding the perfect tree — come face-to-face? Magic. If you're looking for a quick holiday read with a ton of heart, look no further.

Favorite Quotes:

I've learned there's only one thing that's harder than finding The Tree, and that's finding The One. Except the perfect tree actually does exist.

"I'm a farmer. I don't live my life betting on miracles. I'm a fan of science and hard work."

Just as there's always a story behind a tree, there's also always a story behind getting the tree. I only wish this one didn't involve a guy who would be a great understudy for Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, whose appearance makes my palms sweat and heart race like I just took a shot of double espresso.

One day, I'd love to go to New York City during the holidays and see the huge tree at Rockefeller Center. I've seen pictures of it and have seen it on tv, but I'm sure it's much more glorious in person. I've never really given much thought about where they find a tree of that size each year and how they determine the perfect tree, but this story gave a few insights to that and was very interesting.

Holly is a tree girl and her job is to search the country for the perfect tree for each Christmas. Having grown up on a Christmas tree farm, it's in her blood. The hunt isn't always easy--there are certain height requirements to fill, a certain look to maintain, and other facts that go into choosing the tree. When she received an email from a young boy to come and look at their tree, she does, leaving straight from her vacation. But the owner, the boy's uncle, Sam, isn't so keen on giving this large tree up. His father decides that the family will vote and it's up to Holly to convince them why they should donate this tree.

Holly is very dedicated to what she does and is very good at debate. She comes across as all business, but this venture helps soften her a little and helps her see the bigger picture. Sam is rough and gruff and does some softening of his own along the way. I enjoyed seeing the transformations of these very independent characters. As a novella, there's not a lot of depth, but there is a fun, unique, fluffy story awaiting the reader.

Content: mild-moderate language; no violence or religious elements; mild romance (kissing). Clean!

All’s well in Holly Kuhn’s well-ordered world. She’s succeeding in a career she loves, and gets to pay homage to her favorite holiday – Christmas, every day because of it. Holly is the go-to girl (aka Miss Christmas), who ensures there’s that shiny, beautiful and perfect Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center each year.

This year, she finds the perfect tree in a letter from a boy living in Massachusetts. This discovery derails her travel plans, and instead she makes a detour to the McCary farm. Once there, she meets the entire family, including the young writer’s uncle, Sam. Everything seems to be leading Holly to this perfect Norway spruce, but…

Unlike the rest of his family, Sam is less than enthused by the notion some big city girl is about to take his family’s tree. It's up to Holly to prove to him why he should want to.

Since this is a novella story, instead of flailing about and weaving in and out of the pros vs cons, with this little write up, let me get right to the point. Wrapped inside these 80-some pages is magic. Because of the condensed time, there isn’t a lot of room for character backstory or growth, but this is excused because the story is so darn adorable.

“People always say that change takes time, but that’s not always true. You’re born in a second, you die in a second, and it’s quite possible you fall in love in a second.” - Miss Christmas

Holly's persistence is a cute trait, and I love that she’s not the stereotypical “city girl.” She’s as comfortable walking among the bright lights as the green grass of countryside. The connection between Sam and Holly suffers a little because of the short page length, but that doesn’t stop the “opposites attract” idea from still being cute.

If you recognize this title, but it being in book format seems a little “off,” this may be because you know it as a Hallmark Christmas original. Where this story lacks a bit in the character romance, the film makes up for in spades (read: sassy chemistry!!). What I feel like this novella does do better than the script is the settings. I really liked that while this is definitely a Christmas story with appropriate feels, this is actually (primarily) set months before Christmas. Plus, I also like that this seems to “flow” a bit more than the script; there’s a natural ease and storytelling (realism) quality that the script misses.

Despite any minor complaints, I enjoy the film adaptation and this novella both. Each have their strengths and weaknesses, but both are packed with infectious holiday cheer. Those looking for a quick Christmas read need to look no further than Miss Christmas. It’s a piece of Christmas magic you can enjoy during a snowy afternoon of reading. ♥

Content: there may be some minor innuendo or profanity (nothing that I remember), but for a secular release, this story is clean.

Really enjoyed this one.

Holly, a.k.a. Miss Christmas, is responsible for choosing the Rockefeller Christmas tree each year, a job so all-consuming that it’s affected her social life to the point where she barely has one, but this year, a letter from a young boy leads Holly not only to the perfect tree, but possibly her perfect guy as well.

There are some errors in the text, words misplaced or omitted here and there, but it’s easy to fill in those blanks and the story’s entertaining enough that the mistakes didn’t bother me.

While Holly’s potential love interest, Sam, is grumpy and grumbly at times (a character trait I tend to enjoy, especially in holiday fare), he’s still a deep down nice person much like the other characters here, there’s a strong sense of kindness and family that projects a warm Christmas vibe even though much of Miss Christmas takes place in July.

The story is short and you don’t witness that much of the romance, but you get enough glimpses of Holly and Sam together and of their shared values and understanding of one another to buy into their connection when the story and their relationship fast-forward to December.

I really liked this, and I feel like if you find yourself overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the holidays, this book would offer a nice respite, it’s brief enough that it doesn’t require a huge time commitment and it’s a sweet little spirit-lifter.

I confess that I have never spent even a second of my life thinking about what goes into choosing the Rockefeller Christmas tree. In that sense, this book was eye-opening. Most of it takes place in July (not very Christmasy), when Holly meets a farm family with the perfect tree and tries to convince them to donate it.

Holly was pretty nice, a little pushy, and she butts heads with Sam, the cute guy who doesn't want to see the tree cut down. The problem with this book was, I was pretty much on Sam's side of things. Why cut down a beautiful tree like that? Holly made her case, but it didn't really convince me. Sam spent most of his time glaring at Holly until he decides that they should start dating, and it felt a little out of nowhere.

This being a Christmas romance, everything ends on a happy note, and once things moved to Rockefeller Center it was cute. The celebrity cameos (Taylor Swift and Al Roker-Yay...Matt Lauer-Ugh) surprised me, but they were fun. The ending was sweet, just like I expected.

Holly "Miss Christmas" heads to the town of Klaus in search of the perfect Christmas tree. See, Holly is in charge of finding the tree for Rockefeller Center, and an 8 year old boy named Joe sends her a letter about a tree on his family farm.

Once she is there, Sam tells her that the tree is not for sale. Not that they would get paid for it anyway. See, his mom had just passed away and his parents have their initials carved in it. Holly doesn't want to take no for an answer. She was annoying me a lot. I knew in this moment she was getting that tree and Sam to boot. I also guessed what else would happen to the tree , but I was never happy about it.

Sam, George, Aimee, and Joe are an incredible family and I don't think Holly ever did anything to prove she derseved them besides be the main character of the story.

Anyway, super happy Christmas ending! Love, glad tidings, and family times!

A Sweet Story

Miss Christmas aka Holly is in charge of findijg the perfect Christmas tree for Rockefeller Centers annual tree lighting. A young boy named Joe has written to here about a tree on tye farm thwt he thinks was uld be a grewt tree for the lighting.

Holly goes to the town of Klaus to see the tree and finds it to be perfect. However, things are not always simple and Holly must convenience people that in giving the tree you are getting something back. People will love the tree in all its glory and when Christmas is over it will be useful for many things.

This book celebrates CHristmas and family with simple language. It A meaningful read that one would enjoy despite the boy girl romance angle that limits its audience some. Great book overall.

Didn't care for the book of the movie. Turned to movie off after 30 minutes but did finish the book to see if it got better, it didn't. I didn't realize there's that much that goes into getting a tree for these big city scenes but it's a shame about the trees cut for them. I can't believe the city doesn't pay for their trees, cheapskate city. Why would someone in another state think it was a Great privilege to donate a beautiful tree to a city that not in their state and doesn't pay for it. It's like going to the tree lot and seeing the tallest, perfect tree and asking them to donate it to you for your front window. They'd laugh at you.

No.Me.Gustó!!

segundo, ODIÉ A LA PROTAGONISTA (holly)
y tercero,

Best Christmas story I’ve read in ages

I can totally understand why she’s got Hallmark movie plans for this one. Novellas can be tricky, often dropping the ball on character development or feeling rushed. Not this one. It plays out beautifully like a movie, drawing the reader into its world from the start. Its funny, sweet, emotional, and entertaining. You can’t help falling in love with this family right along side Holly. Can’t wait to see the movie version!
