I have a more recent version of this, which is more like a booklet (and not listed in Goodreads).
This booklet begins with a 3-day cleansing (juice fasting) protocol. It is similar to Dr. Norman Walker's Fresh Vegetable & Fruit Juices as well as Professor Arnold Ehret's Mucusless Diet Healing System-- Dr. Christopher recommends both of these books, in fact. It begins with drinking 16 ounces of prune juice and 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil upon awakening for each of the 3 days of the cleanse. This is followed a half hour later by 8 ounces of fresh raw juice of choice (either apple, carrot, citrus, grape or tomato-- you pick just one and stick with it for the entire 3 days). This is followed a half hour later by 8 ounces of distilled water. You continue to alternate between fresh juice and distilled water every 30 minutes until 1 gallon of each is consumed for the day. Two more doses of olive oil need to be worked in some time during the day as well (the purpose of this is to lubricate the gall bladder). It's important to swish the juice in the mouth for some time before swallowing so that adequate digestive enzymes are activated. If constipation is a problem during these three days, Dr. Christopher's Lower Bowel Formula is recommended as a supplement. The point of this cleanse is to detox and to rid the body of excess mucus. This is a juice fast, but if a person is still hungry after all this juice, they can have the matching fruit or vegetable that they are taking as a juice (so, carrots sticks if you chose carrot juice). You can expect a "healing crisis" as you detox-- these manifest as shifting aches and pains and a general feeling of weakness at times. But these are all good signs that the body is ridding itself of toxins.
After the 3-day cleanse, it is recommended to ease back gradually into solid food, starting with the addition of vegetable and other fruit juice. After the transition, for an ongoing diet it is recommended to avoid salt, eggs, sugar, meat, milk, flour and flour products because these are all mucus-producing. If these 3-day cleanses are well tolerated yet further detoxing is required, one can do a water-only fast for an additional 1-3 days following the juice fast before transitioning back to solid food.
For those with chronic health problems (such as cancer), further instructions are given for a post-cleanse dietary routine with exercise. Instructions are given for how to soak and cook whole grains over very low heat so that they are still a living food even after cooking. There are a few recipes. Instructions are given for how to do castor oil fomentations over the liver to further help with detoxing. Dr. Christopher recommends jogging a mile daily to help the lymph flow (work up to that amount if you're not in shape); and gives instructions for how to do deep breathing exercises (to be done morning and night). He also recommends walking barefoot on the grass 10-15 minutes daily to ground the static electricity in the body.
One final extended 6-week herbal cleanse protocol is given for those with long-term health problems (to be done while eating the mucusless diet). These include taking Dr. Christopher's supplements: mainly additional supports for the liver, bowels, kidney and blood stream.
The last section of the booklet is a list of Dr. Christopher's supplements and the ingredients found in them-- only a few of which are even mentioned in the previous section of the booklet as part of the cleansing program. But it's interesting to see the different formulas he offers and what they're used for.
Overall, this looks like a doable routine and not as complicated as some others I've seen. I'm not sure about the olive oil and wheat germ oil, though (ugh!). Also, I wonder about the prune juice since I don't think this can be juiced at home, even if plums were available year round (I've never tried to juice this fruit before, however). That would leave you with having to buy pasteurized, lifeless juice in a bottle for that part of the regimen. With juice, you want it raw and fresh with the living enzymes and antioxidants available for immediate absorption. I have not tried this particular cleanse at this time but am thinking about giving it a go in the future-- maybe when plums are in season, if not before. I like that Dr. Christopher recommends taking a sabbath, even from his supplements, every 7th day, to give the body rest.
