When a rich gentleman finds a beautiful young woman lying in the snow, on the brink of death, he takes her back to his house and, when she has recovered, employs her as a maid. Immediately Elira realizes that Anthony Luther is no ordinary man and nothing about the house she now lives in is as it seems, for Anthony is a powerful wizard.
Inexplicably drawn together, they begin a tentative romance, but it’s not just Elira’s uncertainties and the rules of upper-class society which drive a wedge between them; rivalries and a precious family heirloom, a priceless necklace of unforeseen power handed down through generations, threaten not only the couple’s happiness, but also their lives and the safety of the people around them

As well as writing, she enjoys travelling and has lived in Tokyo and Hong Kong, though she is now back in the UK with her trusty rescue dog, Nala. Her travels are a constant source of inspiration and she has an endless supply of ideas for future novels…
I am always excited to read one of M.L. Sparrow's books. She is such a fantastic writer and I love the worlds that she builds within her novels. No Rest for the Wicked is no different. Even with a different genre, Sparrow excels with her writing. Romance isn't my kind of genre but it worked really well with this novel. I really like how it starts off quickly and doesn't dwell on boring introductions. Upon the first couple of pages, we already meet the main characters Elira and Anthony.
Elira is a very strong character given her circumstances. She goes through a lot of hardships in her life, especially within this era where the division of upper and lower class is so evident. She grew up in an orphanage and had to live as a servant. She lost her job because her married boss wanted to sleep with her and she refused. It all turns around when she's found and hired by the rich and charming Anthony. Now in her new job, she doesn't know how to handle him. Can she trust him to not be like her old boss?
I liked Anthony. At first glance he was just that charming, flirty, and seductive character but I love how Sparrow surprises us with another three-dimensional character. I love their relationship because it was believable. There was an instant attraction, yes, but it wasn't instant romance. Elira was very wary about him and his intentions and other than gifts and flirting, Anthony was respectful of certain boundaries. I enjoyed the progression of their relationship and the story overall.
Characters were well developed and the story is well written. What surprised me even more was that it wasn't just a romance novel. Sparrow surprises us with a villain and sibling rivalry within the story. I really liked it. It's also great to know that, while No Rest for the Wicked wasn't her first book published, it was her first book that she's written. It goes to show just how talented M. L. Sparrow is. She definitely deserves a bigger audience.
This was a cute story, the characters were well developed and the imagery was brilliant. I loved all the characters. I really loved with Elira, she was so young and innocent; I immediately felt like I should mother her, like Moira did, this is why I connected with her. Anthony, well he just sounded yummy from the start; seriously, who doesn’t want a man that owns a self-cleaning house? Hello! I’m here…
Though the characters and writing were great, I felt it was a bit “over-written;” it took way too long to get from point A to point B. I just felt this book could have been a lot shorter and the story would have been just as good, or better. Overall, I liked No Rest for the Wicked and rate it with 4 Boundless Stars...Beth
No Rest for The Wicked by M.L Sparrow is a wonderful Urban fantasy, with paranormal elements, wizards, magic, and a wonderful, spicy romance. I have read several of Ms. Sparrow’s book now and have really enjoyed them all. This book is quite different from the others that I have read, it is definitely my favourite so far. Elira is found early one morning, unconscious and frozen in the snow. What was she running from to leave her stranded in a snowstorm? But, thankfully she is rescued by an upper-class gentleman, who takes her back to his home and nurses her back to health. She is a little taken aback by him, as she hasn’t had an easy life and has been mistreated, making it hard for her to trust others. But he slowly wins her over, even giving her a job and somewhere to stay. The more Elira gets to know her new employer, and his house- the more she realises that he is no ordinary gentleman, and this certainly isn’t a ‘normal’ house. She discovers that her boss is fact a powerful wizard, and his house is enchanted. Anthony Luther is completely captivated by the beautiful young woman he finds in the snow, he will do whatever it takes to get to know her better and keep her in his life. The more time they spend together, the more Elira starts to trust him, and the more their feelings develop. Can he convince her that they can make a future together? Or will Elira’s past and their ‘class’ differences, keep them apart? But, Anthony also has enemies, who now have Elira firmly in their sights. With sinister forces closing in on them, will Anthony be able to keep Elira safe? What happens when she discovers what’s going on? What does a mysterious necklace have to do with it all? Do they have a chance at a future together, or will they be torn apart? You really should read this spellbinding story, and discover all the incredible details for yourself . I am sure you are going to love it, just as much as I did! As I have come to expect from Ms. Sparrow, this story is original, really well written, with wonderful detail, and fantastic characters. The world that she created is exquisite, and her world building skills are truly exceptional. I wasn’t just reading her story, I was experiencing it along with the characters, in all its wonderful, vivid detail. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!
No Rest for the Wicked is the third book by M.L. Sparrow, and the uniqueness of this story really made it stand out amongst the other books I have read lately. This is the story of Elira and how she was found by Anthony in the direst of straights. The differences with their social statuses and how secrets from Anthony’s past could tear these two young loves apart made for a great story. What I loved about this story was how Sparrow mixed so many different genres that it leaves the reader hanging off every word waiting to see what happens next. No Rest for the Wicked has supernatural, romance, suspense, and paranormal twists; each of which bring a different flair to the story. Sparrow is a relatively new author, but I really enjoyed her writing style and I can’t wait to see what else she comes out with in the future. If you are looking for a new twist on a familiar topic than this is definitely the book for you.
Anthony and Elira's story was captivating. She's been left out to freeze after a rough past. He's a rich wizard. Thankfully he saves her from the cold and employs her in his house. Romance blooms between them and his enemies set out to target her. His abilities test their budding relationship. Will their love survive? This book sucked me in and wouldn't let me go into I finished. M L Sparrow's writing is unlike any I've read before.
Elira is a young woman who finds herself without a job, when her previous employer makes advances. Homeless, she collapses in the snow and almost dies. She is rescued by Anthony Luther, a rich gentleman who brings her to his home and offers her a job. But Anthony is no ordinary man, he is a wizard. The two begin a relationship but can they ever be together? Elira is a great character. Despite the time period and the fact that she is a servant, she is quite wilful and independent. You don't know how to take Anthony at first, he flirts with Elira and she is worried that the situation will end up like her previous job, but she is attracted to him which is obvious from the start. The two characters were well developed and I thought it was very well written. I would definitely recommend this book and I think this author has a great future.
This is a really cute romance story first and foremost, and I do mean “romance” in that the main point, or interest of this story is when and how the main characters hook up and fall for one another. There is an element of fantasy in this book, as Anthony is quite the talented wizard able to create portals and make his clothes appear from thin air, and his house pretty much takes care of itself via magical means. But the focus is really never about that, or the period piece that this story takes place in. This is a story of how Elira, a poor orphan, finds herself impossibly drawn to her employer after he saves her from freezing to death in the snow, and he—despite societies strict rules on the matter—develops feelings for the girl he insists works for him as a maid after he rescues her. Honestly, it’s a very cute story and Sparrow does a lovely job of crafting characters I felt drawn to, which is why I enjoyed this sweet, fantastic romance tale.
Most fantasy books these days have their main characters falling in love, but “No Rest for the Wicked” does take that a step further. Again, in very much the traditional romance sense, there are some pretty steamy sections of this book! It’s nothing overly graphic, I’d feel perfectly fine reading this book in public and not worry about someone catching something if they read over my shoulder (which is kind of rude). But there are whole chapters where nothing is happening other than sexy courtship, so just keep that in mind—I was serious when I said this is a romance book with hints of fantasy, not the other way around! There is no crude language present, which makes me like this kind of romance a bit more than some of the more main stream novels in this genre, but just keep that in mind, and maybe not give this book to anyone under 17? Just a thought.
I really enjoyed the sweetness of this story and how Anthony and Elira interacted with one another (though I did like Moira’s sass the best). The story is easy to pick up and read for hours and hours without noticing the time going by, which I greatly appreciated! In fact, I would have rated this book much higher except that I was encountering pretty persistent editing errors. They don’t hurt the story, Sparrow does a great job of making the reader feel things, but I was noticing them throughout the novel. I also wish that Anthony and Elira spoke more. We are shown their feelings through a lot of silent, near psychic glances which kept either from just having a conversation with one another, which made their powerful feelings feel a little less than genuine, but that’s easy to get over for the most part. Additionally, I would have loved to see more scenes with the main antagonist terrorizing the couple so that we could 1. See more of the magic and witness just how powerful Anthony truly is and 2. So I could feel more like the stakes were higher for not just the main characters affections, but their very lives. It also would have helped the reader better understand Anthony and his family, and made his flippant disregard for upper class society feel more ingrained to his character rather than just a quirk.
Despite—or in spite of?—the editing errors and my desire to have more dialogue and world building, I really did enjoy this standalone story. Which I also really liked by the way. While I love reading series, sometimes it’s really nice to just pick up a book and not have to worry about entering a world where it takes 3 books just to finish the story. It was quick and sweet, and unique enough from other romance books with the fantasy elements that I found myself genuinely smiling throughout the entire story. Sparrow is a talented author that makes kind, vulnerable characters just as well as she makes powerful and strapping ones. So this book is closer to a 4 star for me, but with the issues I found and had, I’m giving it a 3.75 star but will definitely keep my eye on this author for future books. Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of the book for review!
No Rest for the Wicked by M.L. Sparrow was an fast pace magical romance with all the fun of an epic adventure.
This was my first book by M.L. Sparrow, and I was thoroughly impressed with her writing style, tone and how she kept the plot moving while simultaneously developing the characters, keeping the bubbly romance as realistic as possible, and setting up the explosive climax that tossed the story into another direction. She knew how to build, and it was fan-freaking-tastic.
Elira was strong, smart and didn't let her growing lust get to her head. (Well, as much as she could ;)...) She build trust with Anthony, respect, and she got to know him. This was for me, what made the romance that much more believable. There was a insta-attraction, but not insta-love. From her past she didn't trust men with money, she kept Anthony at bay because for one; it could cause her job, and two, she knew that taking such a risk, in the time that this story is set in, would ruin her. She couldn't afford a fling, or a simple toss in the sheets. Her life was on the line. That maturity, that resolve, is what made me love her as a MC. She was no damsel, or air-head.
Anthony.. was every woman's dream. Hansom, charming, and sincere. He looks out for his family, and doesn't see the lines that the wealthy had drew, he only saw humans for what they were. I like how he wasn't the brewing alpha male, that snapped just for the sake of snapping. He treated everyone with a gentle rapport, until they chose to not do the same. He was a flirt yes, but he didn't force himself into Elira's daily chores, he let her come to him, and that made all the difference, and what separates this story from other similar romances.
This story has really turned me on to M.L. Sparrow's writing, and I will be checking out her others works, as this story is a stand-alone. I wish it wasn't because for me I got a - Pride and Prejudice - meets Howl's Movings Castle feeling. And even though the story did end with a very satisfying conclusion, I feel like there was enough of an opening for more.
Take my high recommendation that you will fall in love with this story, with Elira and Anthony. This is thats story that does everything right, but with magic! Haha.. no seriously, the magic made it all the more fun and epic.
No Rest For The Wicked by ML Sparrow is a paranormal romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite of hers yet. This story has a little bit of everything in it, suspense, mystery and romance. I enjoyed her writing style that was easy flowing and understandable. Her attention to details made me feel like I was right there in the house with the characters. Her characters are both connectable and lovable. This is the story about a man who finds a woman laying out on the ground. He takes her home to help her but when she wakes she is scared and she takes off. When he convinces her to come back home with him, he offers her a job as his maid. There is more to this house and this man then meets the eye. She is running from a previous employer who had tried inappropriate things with her. She doesn't want the same thing to happen now so she fights the feelings that she has. What will happen when he gives her a family heirloom? When evil comes lurking is she safe or is there more to this evil? The twists and turns in this story these two take you on will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what will happen next. I enjoyed both of these characters as the story was told in both of their POV. We get to see their inside thoughts but it seemed to just add to the mystery. I enjoyed how he tried to win her over with just not gifts but with some of his wizardry. Will she finally give in to him? Will she finally let herself feel? They seemed to be connected right from the start and they have such great chemistry. The secondary characters are just as enjoyable. I really like the cook and watching how she kept everyone in line including her employer. I highly suggest this story as I know you will want to see what happens with these two and if they find their happily ever after.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a sweet romance mixed with a bit of adventure, danger, and magic.
I loved the way the characters were written, particularly the humorous independence of the female lead, Elira, and the way she could be both hesitant to stand up for herself due to some things in her past, and incredibly strong in moments that truly mattered. I am also appreciative of the way that the indecision about the relationship is portrayed. In some books the back and forth becomes tiresome and overdone, but this story has just the right balance and it adds to the story rather than detracting from it.
The supporting characters were entertaining and added a familial feel to the story. I particularly enjoyed the Winston, the dog, and his antics. Such a personality!
When Anthony discovers Elira nearly dead in the cold, he takes her home and hires her as his cleaning woman. Elira is grateful to have been helped, but also wary that more will be asked of her, things she is not willing to give. She soon finds out that Anthony has no ill intention, and so the two set about feeling out each other to see what the potential is. The one thing Elira is worried about is the difference in social station. She sees this as a major obstacle to them being together.
Just when things seem to be on the right track, both of their pasts come to the forefront. Elira’s past being an attack on her ability to integrate into high society, and Anthony’s past a literal attack in an attempt to steal a family heirloom that is extremely powerful.
This is a standalone book, which I appreciated, and it wrapped up nicely.
No Rest For The Wicked by M. L. Sparrow was a wonderful tale. Her characters are perfect, her plot intriguing, and her descriptions of the action are finely detailed. I really loved the plot of this story. It was well thought out. The action never stopped. And the dynamics that came into play sparked my interest and kept me turning the pages. M.S. Sparrow has captured an amazing array of complexity in her characters. Anthony is exquisitely charming. You get the true sense of a child longing for a true family. The why is an intriguing part of the story. I really liked all sides of his character. He is a flawed individual, but his flaws are easily forgiven. they are overshadowed by his charm. Elira makes a great heroine. She has a certain spunk to her. Her childhood has given her a strong work ethic and a no nonsense approach to her life. Elira’s character keeps the story real. She understands where she stands. She actually weighs the consequences of her actions before she carries through with them. The descriptions of the world in which Anthony and Elira live was amazing. They were detailed and intricate. Every detail was brilliantly drawn and I really loved the feeling of being able to step into their world. Because of the many details provided, by M.L.Sparrow it is easy to slip into this world completely. All in all, this was a great read. I really enjoyed it. Thank you M. L. Sparrow.
No Rest For The Wicked by M.L Sparrow is all of my favourite things wrapped up in one! It's a beautiful romance, which definitely has its hardships, whilst incorporating magic, paranormal fantasy. There is suspense that means you can't put it down, there are shock moments, happy moments and all other emotions come out reading this book. The book reads very easily, you don't lost with too much information, but enough that you attach to the characters. I unfortunately had never come across this author before reading this book but have since then found she has wrote others and will definitely be reading those too!
Poor Elira was found close to death as she was unconscious in a snowstorm. She was found by Anthony, an upper class man who takes her back to his usual home! Elira has had it rough, she finds it difficult to trust anyone and at first doesn't trust Anthony. He slowly wins her over as he aids her back to health and gives her a job within his house. As they get to know each other Anthony becomes more and more captivated by Elira and the more Elira starts to trust Anthony and their relationship starts to develop as the feelings towards each other grow.
But there's a lot more to Anthony and there are troubles in the relationship that takes its toll at times. I'm going to leave you to read the book and find out about that for yourselves because this is a must read book!
No Rest for the Wicked is a magical story by M. L. Sparrow. It is my first encounter with this writer and I know it will not be the last. I am happy to have found another writer to keep my eye on! No Rest for the Wicked is a story of Anthony and Elira. It is a story filled with magic and drama and sex, a paranormal fantasy and it offers something to everyone. I liked how the writer created a world within a world – first when I started reading I thought, hey, it sounds like we are in London and then it was, wait a minute, where the heck are we? Well, we are in a world created by a very talented writer whose story telling sucks you in and doesn’t let you go until you come to the end! Anthony and Elira come from different parts of society and that is only the first of the obstacles they have going against them, add to it the secrets from Anthony’s past, Elira’s streak of independence, family heirloom and evil lurking in the shadows … and then of course the house that changes its shape at will … oh my … there is so much in this story that you cannot put the book down once you know whether Anthony and Elira will get their Happily Ever After and once you are at the end, you sit there and wish that the journey had been just a bit longer …
a brilliant read about magicians helping people. The magician Anthony Luther lives his magical life in Liddel when one fay he discovers a woman unconscious in the snow.. he rescues her and when Elira is feeling better, he employs her as his maid. she gets used to cleaning in a magical house that changes each day until evil magicians threaten her life several times. When these forces endanger Elira's life, can Anthony save her? Can she deny the feelings of love that spark between them despite their differences in class? a brilliant read. well developed plot. well developed characters, especially in the case of Moira as an excellent maternal figure. Hens mischievous child figure was also delightful and hilarious. I was unsure of Anthony as at times he was a little controlling in later scenes, but his kindness and concern helped resolve this. From page one it was full of stunning visual detail of the town in the snow which I adored, continued throughout the book. in particular, the Christmas decorations and the portraits in the hall were beautifully written. I also loved the smaller intricate details of items such as the emerald brooch and the colourful necklace and even the dresses Elira wears. I did feel that the villain was a little melodramatic at times with the fire even though his motivations were solid. Anthony's use of magic was delightful, with slights if hands and transforming objects, and in particular the scene with the cat transformation was brilliant. The only issue I would raise is that perhaps I would have preferred for a more of a magic fight with lightning between good and evil, but it still worked the way it was. Overall, a brilliant read and I would give it four stars.
Characters: 4/5 Plot: 5/5 World Building: 4/5 Story Flow: 4/5
OVERALL SCORE: If Amazon allowed, it would be a solid 4.5 out of 5 Stars.
REVIEW I have to hold my hands up to being a sucker for a good PNR, and I was pleasantly surprised and certainly not disappointed with No Rest For The Wicked. Elira (the female lead) is strong and likable as well as quite relatable in aspects and thankfully was not the usual whiney damsel of the PNR genre. Anthony is romantic, bold, and strong. He is a well-developed character and I found myself quickly adding him to my ever growing BBL (Book Boyfriend List).
The Story moved at a steady pace which held my attention and I loved the balance of dialogue and narration. As I am not a fan of **Spoilers** I will leave the story at that. But, I will say that M. L. Sparrow has accomplished a magnificent feat. A fantastic PNR with a strong and engaging story that did avoid dipping its toes in the usual 'Instant love - Just add water'.
I would highly recommend this little gem for lovers of PRN, low fantasy, and Paranormal.
No Rest for the Wicked is a novel by M.L. Sparrow. This is my first novel by this author.
While taking a walk, a man notices a figure laying in the grass now covered in snow. He picks her up and takes her back to his house.
When she awakens, she is confused as to where she is but gets dressed anyway. Later, she meets the man, his man Anthony, who explains to her what happened.
The girl, Elira informs Anthony that she was kicked out by her former employee. Anthony who is intrigued by the young girl, offers her a job working for him which she later accepts.
Elira soon finds out that Anthony is no ordinary man at all. But a powerful wizard whose house is enchanted. Because of her upbringing, she is apprehensive to trust, but with time the two start to grow close and feelings develop. Anthony has enemies who set their sights on Elira. Will he be able to protect her?
I loved this story. The cover caught my attention and I just loved the way the writing flowed. It really pulled me in. It like a period piece in a book.
And the relationship between Anthony and Elira was well written. Him finding her outside, I felt was a different for a first meeting.
For lovers of fantasy and romance, I would recommend this.
I would definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a fantasy romance! I fell in love with both of the main characters; Elira and Anthony. I loved how confident and independent Elira was, despite her being a damsel in distress at the beginning, and the morals she lives by. I also liked how her background was presented. Anthony’s character was not what I expected! At first you think he’s just a rich gentleman who uses his authority to get whatever he wants but he was actually so ‘down to earth’ and really easy to like and support as a character. He did make me swoon a couple of times! The dialogue between Anthony and Elira was always very natural and their banter was quite endearing at times. Even the secondary characters - Moira for example – were well developed. I even enjoyed the more tense parts of the book, as they were written well too. Overall, this is a wonderful book which I couldn’t put down!
This is the second book that I have read by this author and it was just fantastic! I think it had everything I love in a novel! It had romance, great characters, some magical/paranormal elements (my new found genre!!) and it had a definite historical feel about it! The detail that the author went into in this story was just outstanding. I could imagine every little bit of scenery she was describing. Her character development was also really good and I really liked all of the characters, both main and secondary (well maybe except one!!). I loved the slow development of the relationship between Elira and Anthony; I could really feel the connection between them. I thought Elira was a lovely character; I liked her sweet, innocent side especially after everything that she had been through in her past. Anthony was just HOT!! A young hot wizard – what more could you ask for?!? Oh yeah a hot wizard with a self-cleaning house!! He was just perfection for me! I loved his gentle way with Elira but he also had a slight dominating side that came out at times. I loved the twists and turns that came with this book too – I really had no idea what was going to happen! A fantastic read that I highly recommend – especially if you like a little magic in your stories!!
No Rest For The Wicked by M.L. Sparrow is a great paranormal romance story, you will enjoy from beginning to end! Trust me, you will have a difficult time putting it down!! I have read several books by this author before. But this one, is one of my favorites of hers so far!! I absolutely love paranormal romance stories! I don’t know what it is exactly, but I love the imagination it entails!! The story starts off when a man finds a woman laying in the snow, in the freezing cold. He convinces her to go home with him and offers her a job as a maid. But when she gets there, she notices things aren’t what they seem to be. You seriously HAVE to read this book, to see where this crazy journey take you on!! It has everything you want in a great book! It will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, wanting more!! Amazing job, M.L. Sparrow!!
I give No Rest for the Wicked by M L Sparrow, 5 stars.
I'm in love with this book! The story is amazing! As a whole, it may have been heard before -- poor woman and rich man have feeling for each other. But this book is so much more than that. Elira and Anthony are such great main characters. They are so realistic! You understand exactly how Elira feels and why she feels that way. It was the way things were back then. Then there's Anthony -- the very rich gentleman who apparently has a lot more to him then just what Elira assumes. But what is he hiding?
The story itself is captivating, there are twists and turns you will never see coming. And the secondary characters put this book over the top. I highly recommend this wonderful read to those who like historical romance with a bit of a twist.
I am in absolute reading heaven. I couldnt put this book down the pages just turned as though by themselves. If an action packed romance is what you are looking for with a bit of intrigue then this is definately the book for you!
The realations between Elira and Anthony are absolutely smoldering. When you add magic and things from his past and her past into the mix its absolutely an inferno! I just love how the author uses thing from their pasts to add to the story and how these things bring them both closer to one another. The added dramas and twists in the book make it so refreshing and I really enjoyed reading it. I look forward to reading more by this author and delving further into the paranormal world of magic and spells that they have created!
M.L Sparrow’s No Rest For The Wicked was not a book I could pass up given it’s synopsis, it reminded me of the “magic” of fairytales with a darker, more adult element I couldn’t wait to delve into. No Rest For The Wicked is not like any book I’ve read before, and I mean that in a good sense. I really enjoyed how the book pulled me in immediately, introducing both main characters almost instantly vs a long build up to the storyline. Immediately I was drawn to Elira’s character, she came across strong, cautious and level headed. When Elira was found by a member of the opposite sex and a different “class” she wasn’t completely trusting in a damsel in distress way and I admire that in female characters. The imagery in this book was intriguing and I loved the paranormal type elements as it is not something I read often. It was a definitely an escape in book form!
No Rest For The Wicked written by ML Sparrow. This story is a stand alone. Elira and Anthony are the main characters and it is told through their perspectives. This story was a little hard for me to get into as historical timeline stories are not my normal genre. The characters were well written even though Elira started out shy and meek she grew into a stronger, independent woman. Anthony was interesting in the beginning, who walks past a woman sleeping outside and carries them home and offers them a job? That had me interested enough to see where the story took these two people. Anything and Elira have their ups and downs throughout the story from getting to know one another to becoming intimate. The problems they face are not your every day problems since Anthony is a wizard, that adds its own special element and surprises to the story.
This story is a paranormal romance book. The story has a little bit of everything a reader could as for. A female lead, Elira who was found barely alive and Anthony a handsome wizard with money set in a town that brought their lives together. Elira has questions about Anthony and if he is able to be trusted. She has been hurt before and wants to move slowly. Anthony’s social status is upper class which tends to get in the way of his relationship with Elira.
M.L. Sparrow is an up and coming author. She has a great and imaginative vocabulary that really sets the story up in your mind. She likes to keep you in the know but yet holds back just enough to make you turn the page and not put the book down.
No Rest for the Wicked by M.L. Sparrow is a paranormal fantasy that tells the story of Elira and Anthony. Elira has had a rough life and has hit rock bottom when Anthony finds her lying in the snow. Anthony takes her home and offers her a job but Elira has trouble believing that their are no strings attached. I really enjoyed watching this love story play out. M.L. Sparrow has crafted an imaginative magical world and writes with vivid detail that makes you feel like you are living the story right along with the characters. This story has it all... romance, magic and enough action that you won’t be able to put it down! This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more!
No Rest for the Wicked by M.L. Sparrow is a great paranormal romance novel. The cover is absolutely beautiful, also love the title (it’s why I picked it up;). The story starts off hauntingly engaging, and keeps you sucked into the amazing world! So much chemistry between the main characters: Anthony & Elira! Love the wizard element, there are so many paranormal characters out there but few are wizards. Many emotions throughout this book-all the feels! Very well detailed, and had great flow! I will be checking out future books from Sparrow!
This book has a bit of everything; a bit of romance, some sex, drama and magic. I found this to be a light read. It was a sweet romance with nothing extreme. Not too much drama or too much sex; it had just the right combination.
The story takes place in the 1800’s when there were strict rules in society. There was a large gap between classes and you weren’t supposed to mingle, let alone get into a relationship. Elira is very poor and grew up in an orphanage. Anthony is extremely rich and also a powerful wizard. When he finds her in the snow half dead, he brings her back to his house. After nursing her back to health, he hires her as his maid.
Although they fall for each other, Elira is hesitant to do anything. The rules for young women have practically been beaten into her. It wouldn’t be proper. Love always conquers all and the attraction is too strong to deny. The characters were warm and likeable. Moira acting as mother hen and her mischievous son. My favourite thing had to have been the whimsical magic of the house itself. I would love to have a house that cleans itself!
As this is M.L Sparrow’s first book that she has written, I feel that she did a good job. It was a fun and entertaining read.
What a fantastic introduction to M. L. Sparrow's work I received when I picked up No Rest for the Wicked. I was transported to a fantasy world where witches and wizards reigned supreme. Magic was around every corner and mayhem usually was in hot pursuit of this divine couple.
Elira and Anthony were an extremely charismatic duo that never failed to surprise, impress and thrill me. Getting to know them was pure joy, and the other characters were crazy, yet intensely entertaining. This eclectic bunch, when joined together, produced an unforgettable read.
M. L. Sparrow is a bewitching talent who I am so glad to have found. I cannot wait to read more from this author. No Rest for the Wicked gets a well deserved 5 stars.
I loved this book. From start to finish I couldn't put the book down.
I enjoyed the thought the Author put into the characters. The plot even seemed to be well thought out. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a comfort read or a good book. Will definitely recommend.
This is a clever book with a plot that does not follow the expected flow exactly per its genre. I appreciated the character development and plot pace. M.L. Sparrow does a good job of drawing the reader into this time period and space. The feelings and behaviors felt authentic to its setting. A good book and solid story development. A good read.
