Milwaukee Men at Work #1

Fast, Fresh, and Hot

Rate this book
Fantasy guys were supposed to remain anonymous. They were supposed to be nothing more than pretty faces. I didn't have time for real.

Even though she’s ordered 4 pizzas this week, Becca Dahl’s interested less in spicy sausage and more in the smoking eye candy provided by her hot delivery guy, Tariq. It’s not supposed to amount to anything, but when he proposes a co-ed study break, the sex is hotter than she expected. They both want it to last more than one night, but Becca doesn’t have time for a relationship. She’s got to finish grad school with honors if she’s ever going to earn her dad’s praise. But when Tariq’s kisses light her up brighter than the Bat Signal, she can’t help but say yes to another date.

As they spend more time together out of bed, Becca starts to see the man behind the pizza box. They find a connection deeper than their mutual love of comic books and nerdy movie quotes. Tariq shares pieces of himself and he sees through Becca’s façade to the pain she’s kept hidden for years. Her resolve to hold him at arm’s length starts crumbling. But when Tariq shows up at her graduation, setting off her overbearing father, can he convince her that when it comes to a relationship, they’ve got what it takes to deliver?

Disclaimer: Fast, Fresh and Hot delivers chocolate that melts on your hand, not in your mouth, Batman tattoos, angry shower sex, 80s movie references, and a lifetime supply of sexy pizza boy. And lots of steamy, delicious sex.

Liz Lincoln has been concocting stories as long as she can remember, and from the beginning they involved two people falling in love. She also writes under the not-even-a-little-bit-secret identity of Eliza Madison.

When she’s not writing, Liz spends her time rooting for the UW Badgers and the Green Bay Packers (or yearning and embroidering for the return of football season), cross-stitching sassy sayings or nerdy characters (Wonder Woman is her favorite), and drinking too much Diet Coke.

She lives in Milwaukee, WI, with her husband, two kids, two cats, and a turtle.

R A T I N G: 3.5 stars to Kiss Me ★ ★ ★

➜ Iranian/Egyptian hero with a twin
➜ Interracial relationship
➜ Pizza boy hero/student heroine
➜ sci-fi/ DC superhero-loving protagonists

After browsing through the bookish blogosphere trying to pin down this book's online presence and coming up with slim takings, I naturally (but bafflingly) assumed that I'd be the only reader with a review to publish for Liz Lincoln's Kiss Me despite its 2019 publication date. The title is actually the origin of misdirection, which I later found out was the reason my search came up short. From what I gather, Kiss Me was originally published as Fresh, Fast and Hot under an alternative pen name. It met with an overhaul somewhere along its publication timeline. As it is, I know this as Kiss me by Liz Lincoln. Other readers know it as FF&H by Eliza Madison so the above is just a quick elaboration and an informative FYI for readers who found themselves in a similar mix-up.

It's completely not lost on me that I have an 'on the fence' relationship with novellas but I triumphantly did my best to suspend my expectations with Kiss Me and I think I enjoyed it more for that very reason. As a novella, this read is much swifter-moving with minimal plot and maximum steam so a nuanced piece of romance literature this is not and a smutty erotic romance this definitely is. Rerouting from the usual killer kingpins, dashing tycoons and swaggering athletes, I also love the more 'down to earth' roles that seem fewer and farther between. A pizza boy hero and a work-hard student who orders more baked goods than her stomach can handle just to lure a pizza-toting fantasy man to her door. Her logic might sound flawed but It's actually flawless when the feeling is very mutual.

We're all hip to hip with emotionally inept heroes chased by the love interest fated to make an honest man out of them but Kiss Me reverses the roles with a relationship-resistant heroine and a hero who's clearly interested in much more than sating her digestive needs. I love the diversity in this romance; not just with the versatility of an everyday leading man with an everyday job but also one with a blended heritage. Even though this novella has a Becca-only POV, there are a great many signs and signals that Tariq is besotted with her. Liz Lincoln’s hero was just wonderfully disposed and good-natured. He had a general well-intentioned air about him and It truly was far from a hardship to like him.

I did like Becca but as is the case with characters who are emotionally underdeveloped with attachment issues, she was more self-involved, evidenced by her insensitivity towards Tariq's feelings. And on that note, Becca's reasons for keeping Tariq at an arm's length were understandable but a bit debatable, and the more she felt discouraged by the idea of an actual relationship, the less I understood her stance on keeping things as casual as casual could get. Poor Tariq took what he could get, and I was proud of him for letting it be known that he was more than just a biblical pastime. There are times for pleasure and there are times for pain (sometimes they even establish a taboo pairing) but I really struggle with scenes that aim to discuss sober subject matter but are also otherwise (inextricably) saturated with sexual intent. In my humble opinion, the two go hand in hand as companionably as two mutually exclusive opposites.

As an example, when Tariq explains a past incident that involves his brother, both he and Becca were clearly aroused with a swift endgame to end the conversation. Sex seems to be the articulacy with which they lean into without qualm, and while I don't have an issue with that, it's also not a terrifying prospect to explore other parts of a relationship. The smut scenes are a very thorough, non-silent party and while I'm truly pro-steam (because I believe that smut scenes are an overlooked artistry in and of themselves), those scenes are given the strokes of a heavy hand. I caution readers who prefer more plot nuance than glorious indecency that this is definitely the opposite. And for readers who want something short, fun with ample heat and light of heart but still maintains a down-to-earth believable likeness of the ensuing storyline, this will without a doubt measure up to that very wish.

A social care student who spends her time hard at work if not a social butterfly and an always-amused hero who shares her appreciation for all things DC comic occupy this first opening novella in the Milwaukee Men at Work series. Pizza is this edible matchmaker that brings them together but it’s a (completely pizza-unrelated) pull that keeps them coming back for more. Weighted looks, lingering touches and a flood of heat is what takes this romance hostage when a chance to enjoy what literally greets one at their own doorstep propositions more than just a promise of a man endowed with a tasty snack. Kiss me is an early-doors romance with an open-door conclusion for a couple who’ve only just begun.

Content Warning: Mentions drinking, smoking, drugs, addiction. Mentions suicide. Mentions sexual assault. Briefly mentions a prior car accident with casualties. Mentions self medicating, a past overdose and multiple bedroom scenes.

Becca has a problem - her pizza delivery guy is so hot, she's ordered pizza everyday this week. When she runs into Tariq at a bar Becca decides to take a chance and agrees to a date - but not a real date because Becca doesn't do relationships. I never really got why Becca was so adamant her and Tariq were not dating but other than that I really enjoyed FAST, FRESH, AND HOT. Told from Becca's point of view, this was fun, sexy and a quick read.

Tariq's sex appeal and charm just jumps off the page and I loved his easy going personality. Tariq is a great match for Becca because he gives her a chance to step away from her grad work and start living life. Becca has focused her whole life into graduating grad school and making her father proud. She has no problem going after Tariq and I loved her confidence. With a ton of chemistry, Tariq and Becca are a great couple that set my kindle on fire!

Hot and deep!

I picked this up looking for something hot and sexy, and it really delivered on that level, but what I wasn't expecting was how deep and romantic the story line became. The characters were fully developed "real' people I fell in love with as I read. The situation was realistic and down to earth. And I loved all the geeky references, especially the Batman/Batgirl sub-theme. Really fun, can't-put-it-down reading.

Eliza Madison manages to take something as simple as pizza delivery and turn it into panty-dropping smexy times. This story is sexy, geeky, pizza-y, and so much fun.

When I found out that the author Liz Lincoln also writes under the name Eliza Madison I couldn’t wait to check out what else she had written. (Thanks to Alex at Happily Ever After Book Nerd for her review on book 2 in this series that pointed me in this direction.) Then I found out her books are on Kindle Unlimited while I’m on my 6 month trial of KU and I got even more excited. After reading this story I am beyond happy for this discovery.

This story has all of the fun, humor, and heat I’ve come to expect from this author. Since it’s a bit of a shorter story it also moves quickly. Becca and Tariq are beautiful together. The way they meet and take things to the next step is cute and moves in such a natural way, before you know it they’re in a relationship…although they don’t quite realize it themselves.

Becca’s upbringing and issues in her past should make it so there’s a huge chip on her shoulder. She does have a chip in some ways, but for the most part she has turned the negative into positive. That’s why, when she does lash out, it’s a sort of shock to Tariq. But it’s also a catalyst to the couple really opening up to one another and finding their happiness.

I’m excited to read the rest of this series and see where the other characters go. This author always sucks me in and gives me all the feels.

Finally! A romance with a little diversity (and I don’t mean cliched diversity that over emphasizes stereotypes). Tariq was born in Egypt and his father was Iranian. He moved to England when he was young so he has a bit of English flair in his vocabulary. Besides Tariq’s olive colored skin, he also isn’t just some pizza delivery guy who’s out to bed every delivery customer. He’s a graduate student and refuses to be dismissed as a boy toy. Becca is outside the norm, as well. She is a bit quirky in that she has an appreciation for Batman, including a tattoo in an intimate place. Also, unlike characters in other novels that seem to forget all life responsibilities during their romances, Becca prioritizes her academic career.

The title is perfectly apropos. It’s Fast – their relationship develops quickly. It’s Fresh – the rarity of the characters is awesome. And, holy cow is it HOT! This isn’t some pizza-cheesy porn. There’s serious sizzling chemistry between Tariq and Becca.

This was interesting. A short story, although it was spicy, there was somewhat of a storyline. I would have loved to have this as a full-length novel. There was so much that could be done with this.
It feels like a basis for a much lengthier story, like how they both went about with their lives and so on. How he was trying to make her fall for him even though she had already and she was scared to dive in headfirst. (Yes, I know it's a typical cliche, but it works!)
I would have loved to see some character development and more of their backstories. Even though we got what we needed and a little more in such a short story.
But overall, this wasn't a bad story. Just wanted waaaaaaay more of it in a good way, like I just couldn't get enough of it.
This was my first time reading anything from this author and I would be diving into what else she got, because she really knows how to write a normal swoon worthy man!

I had been struggling for trying to pick my next read, but saw this one offered for free on Twitter and it sounded perfect. And it was! I really enjoyed it. For a novella the relationship was reasonably well developed, the heat was high, the angst was medium. The heroine had a nice arc, the black moment wasn’t totally ridiculous and was resolved quickly. My only complaint might be that the hero is too perfect. I’ll buy the next in the series.

A short romantica story (romantic erotica, basically 90% sex scenes)
I thought I was getting more story line development, so was wanting a bit more but actually pretty good for what it was.

No comedy

The story is short but the storyline is well constructed. However, 1) there is absolutely nothing funny in it. It is quite dramatic, and 2) 90% of the book are descriptive sex scenes. To the point it gets boring.

The title is very accurate

This was a quick read with not much plot and 95% sex. I liked that they resolved their issue quickly and were able to move on from it.

Not exactly the light-hearted rom com I expected from the blurb, but a really engaging novella nonetheless.

Find Me offered the perfect diversion from the holiday rush. It's a steamy contemporary romance that’s just long enough to be emotionally satisfying but short enough that you can read it in a couple of nights. Lots of heart and heat make this a delightful holiday read, with bonus Star Wars references!

This is Book 1 of the Milwaukee Men at Work Series!

Becca is smart, focused, and way too busy to let romance derail her carefully planned future. Between finals, graduation, and launching her career, the last thing she needs is a distraction. But then there’s Tariq—the pizza delivery guy with a devastating smile, nerdy charm, and kisses that melt every ounce of her resolve.

What starts as a fling quickly turns into something hotter, deeper, and way harder to resist. The banter is fun, the chemistry is sizzling, and I loved how their shared love of comics and geeky references added a sweet, relatable touch.

This is a light, sexy, feel-good romance that balances heat with heart. If you’re in the mood for a swoony, smart girl–pizza boy story that proves sometimes love sneaks in when you least expect it, this one’s for you.

⭐️ Fun banter
🔥 Spicy chemistry
🍕 Pizza + romance = perfection

Not crazy about the title for this, but the story is good. The hero, Tariq (pronounced like Eric), is pretty adorable. The heroine, Becca, is likable. Becca is a grad student working on her masters and about to graduate. Tariq is working as a delivery guy for a restaurant to earn money before he goes back to school. Becca keeps ordering pizza for delivery so that she can flirt and drool over Tariq. It's cute that she sort of pursues him (from the pizza delivery angle, anyway), but he's really in to her. And once he lets her know, he doesn't waver.

Tariq is the cute delivery guy for the local pizza place. He is studying architecture and trying to get his Master’s degree.

Becca is in graduate school to be a social worker. Becca is trying to work hard and be a good student because her mother was an addict who died and her father is super strict with her.

She thinks Tariq is cute so she keeps ordering pizza so he has to deliver it. She’s never had a real relationship.

Can Becca get Tariq to ask her out? Does Tariq find Becca as attractive as she thinks he is?

Eliza Madison delivers with FAST, FRESH, and HOT, the first in her new series of novellas. Do yourself a favor and download Fast, Fresh, and Hot from Amazon today. It's the perfect sexy, summer romance. Madison crafts likable, recognizable, yet flawed characters. She writes beautifully and hits all the right notes.

A funny story with a bit of seriousness about how sometimes it's good to let go of some pressure and be daring. Who know? Maybe it will be fun, and maybe it will last.
Althought the genre is more on the erotic side I was really convinced by the slice-of-life part of the story. The kind of good book to read next to the heater with a good plaid and a hot mug. And maybe a slice of pizza.

While I enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters, I wish the rest of the story could be more filled out. This book is intended for adult reading. It's a fast reading book. Being from Wisconsin, I had to check it out because the series is called Milwaukee Men at Work. Recommended.
