Galactic Legend of Life and Death

Rate this book
Human race is a member of the Alliance of the Intelligent Clusters – an entity created by ancient non-humanoid civilizations governing the known Universe.
Fanagor is a disciple of the most respected Teacher on Earth, and his skills in Magic are phenomenal. Fanagor is surprised to receive an Invitation to the Laboratory where the Alliance is trying to solve the most crucial enigma: why do all life-forms, stars, galaxies and even the Universe die?
After the Invitation, something horrible crawls out of the shadows and furiously hunts Fanagor – something disconnected from the material world. Fanagor fights, but neither his friends nor all the knowledge of the primordial omnipotent races can help him. The evil is powerful, and it is trying to destroy Fanagor and the whole Universe. The end of life in the Universe is at stake, and only a mystic Galactic Legend could offer help: the Legend of Life and Death that tells truths about the futility of the world, about extinct civilizations and intelligent black holes, about dying galaxies and previous Universes. And Fanagor is the only one who has the power to use the Legend and to strike against Death.

Tolkien meets Clarke in this fantastic adventure that blends magic and intergalactic power. An epic science fiction that explores the depth of the universe and the meaning of life. Highly recommended.

Galactic Legend of Life and Death is a highly philosophical science fiction novel with a lot of new approaches I haven't seen anywhere else so far. The reader is challanged to decide for himself what role life and death play, while still being offered the solution of the protagonist.
I love the approaches of the intergalactic Lab and the struggles of the scientists there (maybe a reflection of the authors' own experiences?). I also enjoyed the mythological motifs and the combination of science and magic moving the story forward. And don't forget about the intelligent black hole!
Don't be fooled by the tiresome and long beginning (a lot of classics start slowly - see Lord of the Rings) and read on to the end - it is worth it!

Some highly original ideas, even for a reader who has done his share of dabbling into esoteric and spiritual literature. ;)

The dialogues held my attention better than the descriptions or the action. However, my favorite part was Fanagor's dream inspired by Dali's painting Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening: it was surreal and fantastic the way shadow-walking in Zelazny's Amber is.

This is an ambitious multi layered plot where many galaxies and civilizations with different levels of intelligence rise and fall or simply vanish over time. The forces of Good and Evil still stir the galactic mix and Fanagor and his magic is the only one who can save the human race from extinction. There are many philosophical discussions, mythical creatures and plenty of action. Aficionados who savor sifting through the many dimensions of the plot will thoroughly enjoy the complexities.

I was provided with an electronic copy in return for an honest review.

I received a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

Unfortunately I was unable to finish this book, even after trying to read it twice.
I found the story to be so far fetched with no explanation of where the magic or some of the science came from.
I know it is a Fantasy / Science Fiction mix but I think it was a step too far!
It certainly was for me....

One of the reasons I enjoy SciFi is the way you can lose your beliefs and live in a world of fantasy, meet characters you could never imagine and solve [problems beyond your capability. This book was an excellent example of this and I enjoyed every minute.

I got this through Netgalley from the publisher for an honest review and opinion.

This book is not all about Life, The Universe and Everything. It's a very compelling and ingenious bridge between the philosophical debates on Life, Death, the afterlife and the fundamentals of magic and technology.

The setting is based in the future of Earth, where we have become part of the greater picture and connected to other lifeforms. This is where we discover that Humanity is a lowly developed and young race in the context of the universe.

Human's have been "Corized". We have this being that can provide things, prevents disease and wars, allows development. Travel is now instantaneous from place to place.... things have improved immensely, but that isn't just it.

We follow along with Fangor, and what destiny has carved out for him. He is the future of the universe and the future of how humanity is perceived.

A very fun ride and a good book. Took a little to get into but worth the read for sure !!

A strange story overall.

I liked it, but it was somewhat difficult to follow.

The primary concept of this book is not unique but is unique in the way the author treats it.

It is a mix of spirituality, fantasy, science fiction and probably a couple of other genres.
