This past year has been one of change for Jessie Higgins, filled with demons, vampires, shifters and bloodshed. She was born human but after being bit by a demon becomes a dhampir. For the past six months she’s avoided telling her parents, fearing they might reject her but with the holidays approaching she can’t put it off any longer. And truth be told, she craves the nostalgia of Christmas lights, hearing her dad call her Junebug, and her mom’s famous macadamia nut cookies.
She arrives home to find her childhood neighborhood overcome by gangs and her baby brother knee-deep in danger. Focused on convincing her family to come live in Seattle, the last thing on her mind is love, but when sexy-wolf-shifter James pulls up on his motorcycle, her libido roars louder than his Harley. What begins as the best night of her life quickly escalates to the worst night of her life and the man of her dreams could end up in a body-bag trying to save her.
James Brower is tired of the chaos and bullshit of his job. Being on the front lines of his packmaster’s army is an honor, but he’s itching for adventure of a different kind. Hopping on his bike, he lets the road determine his destination. Fate brings him to San Francisco and the most alluring female he’s ever laid eyes on. He can’t help but follow Jessie and before he knows it, he’s smack dab in the middle of what he was trying to escape. He’s willing to risk it all to protect her and on a chilly winter’s night, the last sound heard is the echo of a howling wolf.
Cute little novella to let us know what is happening with Cailyn's gal pal, Jessie. You might remember that Jessie is now a dhampir after being bitten by a archdemon. She just thanks her lucky stars that women are not turned into skirm like human men are when they are bitten. Now that she has a little better control of her new body she has decided it is time to go home for a visit. She has avoided her family since the conversion since hey, has to have blood to survive. As she gets near her home in the not-so-good part of San Francisco, she stops to get gas since she is riding on fumes. When a hot guy on a motorcycle pulls in to fill up right next to her she is unable to take her eyes off him. Down, girl.
James is just on a road trip when he spots a fine looking woman at a gas station. He is not sure why he stops, he doesn't even really need gas, but something tells him he wants to know this woman. When he asks her to recommend a bar where he can get some food, she sends him to one of her favorite places, well duh.
Little do these two know that they are Fated Mates, and James is also from Seattle. As a wolf shifter he works for Hayden and is well acquainted with the Dark Warriors. I love happy endings.
I have been provided with a copy of Mistletoe & Mayhem by the author for an impartial review. This is a novella in the Dark Warrior Alliance series and in this story we see what happens with Jessie Higgins who we previously met in another Dark Warrior Alliance book. I love getting to see more of her story and I didn’t want this story to end it was just too short. I wish there had been more. I can’t wait to read more in this series.
Glad to hear Jessie finally got here mate, not Thane! Let's face it they just liked each other. There were no sparks. I wanted more for Jessie. Finally she found him on her own. And he wasn't even a Dark Warrior. He's part of the Omegas elite shifter force. So still important to the goddess. This is a novella so it's short. However, at least we get to hear how her parents responded to what happened to her. Plus how they respond to her mate.
I can't believe I'm just now co m ing across this author. Even though I have read some of this series before, I want to go back and read the again. I really enjoyed this series.
Jessie's story was cute. I was right there with her when she had to tell her parents what was going on. Both she and them took it amazingly well. And then to find her mate too. It was just the icing on the cake.
Another great story in this series! I love this series! As I finished one book went to the next! I dont see how in the world each book didn't get 5 stars. Go get book 1 see what you think. I'm betting you will love it!!!
Way too short and the end was so abrupt that I was rather annoyed. Then the rest of the "book" was the first chapter of other books. The writing was fine.
Everything in Jessi's life has been turned upside down all because of a car accident, and the bite of an archdemon. Now, she is dhampire, part vampire and part demon. She's been staying with her best friend Cailyn, and her sister Elise, who just happens to be married to the Vampire King. They have been helping her adjust to this new life. Now she is headed home to break the news to her parents.
James is a shifter, new in town and just riding by when he sees Jessi at the gas station and can't help but stop and flirt a little. Thing is it is more than flirting, its full on lust, or at least that is what he is thinking. He asks her where to find food and she mentions a little local hangout, maybe she will see him there later.
Mistletoe and Mayhem is a really short little short that slides into the Dark Warrior Alliance Series. It mentions events that are currently occurring during book 3, so timing wise it is after book 2, which is when we are introduced to Jessi and she is involved in the car accident, and before about the middle of book 3. This book gives us a little closure, so to speak on Jessi.
Although it is really short - only took me about half an hour to read, and it moves pretty fast, you kinda know what is coming in a way, this is just a sweet little Christmas romance, in that it takes place away from all the fighting and violence of the supernatural world, and is just about two people running into each other and finding their mate.
I am the first to say that I really HATE novellas, They are too short and don't get into the story enough to really grab my attention. But I would be wrong about this one. It grabbed my attention and didn't let go until the very last word. I Loved learning more about Jessie's story and meeting her family. The added samples of the Triplets stories reminded me how great those books were so I want to go back and reread their stories. I am missing my Dark Warrior Alliance books and I am getting desperate for a new one. It's been awhile since the newest addition and I can hardly wait for the next book.
this is a cute book. Jessie was bit by a demon and now calls herself a dhampir. she's able to eat food, go out in the sun, but has to drink blood. so, she's really not a vampire who can't do all that. she did get some wicked strength.. now she's home to tell her parents what happen. and on her way she meets hot james at the gas station and wants to get to know him better. she tells him about some places to get some food, and then hopes she'll see him there. like this series. would like more of them lol.. but this was a pretty good, short story..
I was excited to read Jessie’s story especially meeting the sexy wolf James. The connection was through the roof and of course they became fated mates. The story was short and hoping to get more of James & Jessie.
