Some things can not be measured in dollars and cents. For instance, there is no way to put a price tag on a child’s heart and mind or to calculate the worth of a young person who is doing the will of God from the heart. In these pages, you will discover the value of Christian education and the incredible difference this investment makes in the life of a young person. This booklet identifies specific risks of public education and shows how Christian education helps young people to develop a heart for God and the mind of Christ. It also briefly covers the issue of accreditation—what it means and why many Christian schools are unaccredited.
Dr. Paul Chappell is the senior pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church and president of West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California. His biblical vision has led the church to become one of the most dynamic independent Baptist churches in the nation. He has been married to his wife for over thirty-six years and is the father of four married children all serving in Christian ministry. His books can be found at http://www.strivingtogether.com.
This is a short little book on the importance of Christian education. Chappell argues that education begins in the home and rightfully so. The only issue that I have with this book is that he doesn’t make any arguments for homeschooling. While I’m a proponent of Christian schools, it is not the only viable option. If the book was on the Value of Christian Schools than great, but it was the value of Christian Education please present other time tested, biblically approved options as well.
This short booklet contains many Biblical truths about raising children, but it implies that home education is vastly inferior—if not downright unacceptable—compared to church-run private schools, something that neither the Bible nor history supports.
