Is there anything better than a second chance love, especially when it happens to more mature characters? Maricel still thinks of Ramon, her first love, back in her homeland of Puerto Rico after almost 30 years. It was a special romance, one that brought great and lasting joy that even the miles and years couldn’t dampen.

Ramon still thinks of Maricel and what might have been, even as he becomes a multi-millionaire with a company that was thriving, until just recently. When they are reunited, together they share almost everything they have, save for one secret each, but it might just be those secrets that will either bring them together as they were meant to be or tear them apart forever.

Hebby Roman’s To Dance Again is a quick read that brings two mature people back together for a second chance at love. As with any age, there are issues, ups and downs, misunderstandings and secrets, GAH, the secrets. I was so involved with their story I couldn’t help whispering, just spit it out, already! Two very likable characters, beautiful settings and years of life experiences while apart make this a welcome change in the world of romance. Sometimes love can be like a fine wine, it is either full-bodied and treasured or can go to vinegar, it’s all in how it is handled. Hebby Roman has handled this one perfectly.

I received this copy from Hebby Roman in exchange for my honest review.

Loves reunited is one of my favorite tropes, and this one did a great job in that area. Maricel and Ramon were high school sweethearts when Maricel's family left Puerto Rico for United States, separating them. Both lived their separate lives for over twenty years, but Maricel is drawn back to Puerto Rico for a few reasons, and talking to Ramon is one of them.

I liked Maricel, and I didn't like Maricel. She kept her secret far too long. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to tell Ramon a secret like this, but there were so many opportunities that she let just pass her by. Once or twice I think I would have understood, but it was just too many times, and I was never a fan of secrets.

Ramon is just as guilty with his secret, the one he tries to keep from the entire world. But all secrets eventually come out, and when his does it just makes him seem a little silly and overly prideful. They did make an amazing couple together, and the ending was incredibly sweet and just what the story needed.

Dance to the memory of that first love..........
Browsing through the pages of Hebby Roman's To Dance Again, is like stepping through the gates of a paradise isle, where the warmth of the summer sun and a beautiful landscape of green mountains, waterfalls and tropical rain-forest awaits your arrival. The vibrant Spanish culture woven within it's storyline in mundillo lace and veigante masks to name a few, along with the exquisite Spanish delicacies like sorullos, alcapurrias, amarillos en dulce, and especially (I suspect it's an author favorite) pastels. The Spanish heritage is webbed intricately in entrendos and puntillas through every fiber of the tale so, we even get a bonus recipe of pastels, learning along with Maricel as Lupe teaches us all.
The main story revolves around Maricel and her first love Ramon.
After an accident reveals the true paternity of her first daughter Isabel, Maricel is forced to reconcile with the ghosts of her past by going back home to San Sebastian to unite Isabel with her father and, mend the wrongs of her bygone actions.
The most interesting part of the book is that though the storyline of hidden paternity has been thoroughly used up before, here the characters are not in their 20s and 30s, glowing in the spring of their lives.
The author has taken a huge risk in portraying Maricel as a woman in her 50s, whose youth has been long gone, bringing her now to autumnal days of the fall in her life. Instead of the usual humdrum, here is a character whose mental maturity reflects in the fine line and soft wrinkles on her face, but even facing that Maricel utters what every woman fells while standing on the twilight of their prime: who feels her body aging away but, in mind is still young, who wants to fell young, slim, and, perfect, dancing freely to the rhythms of her love. Still, this is not a book about midlife crisis, rather it is about finding that suitable melody that expresses your flawed but harmonious tune reconciling and synthesizing the jarred notes of that lost love.
Hence, when a teenage Maricel let her pride get into the way of her love, the older and mature Maricel holds that second chance in firm fingers. Even knowing that Ramon may never forgive her for hiding his child, this responsible Maricel jumps the leap by putting faith in her love which the previous Maricel was unable to do. This is echoed through her inner monologue when, she realizes the difference between a childhood puppy-love, and the experienced love of adulthood which, is like comparing a bottle of Casamatta to an old and expensive bottle of Madeira.
This book also shines light on the fact that love can happen multiple times, and also emphasizes that the first love, which always remains memorable and contained in a girl's heart can be rekindled even after 26 years.
Hence, still recovering from the blow of her husband's death, Maricel, after meeting Ramon again, finally decides to proceed in love, answering yet another undefined query, whether it is okay to move on after your spouse's death.
Although, Maricel is the focal point in this book, but the character of the male protagonist, Ramon is also quite well defined. He is portrayed as a lonely man in his 50s whose sight is slowly giving up on him. With a failed marriage and the bitter struggles of his childhood as his baggage, he is suspicious, and rude with everyone around him. So when Maricel comes back into his life, he is happy to reunite with her but is determined to hold her at arms length, lest she knows about his condition. Even when he learns of his daughter he is still self deprecating, but ultimately it is his self denigration which leads to the accidental discovery of his condition, and, to a happy conclusion.
The plot flows through an unobtrusive course, there are no subplots and this book doesn't need one. The panoramic vistas and the sui generis Spanish culture provides ample distraction to keep the storyline from getting too heavy. Now language, especially language infuses the vibe of a true Spaniard where, gracias, mami, papi, entendo, senor are just a few examples.
Therefore, at the end of this lengthy review, I would conclude saying that, this book would touch a chord to resonate within that first essence of love to ever touch one's heart and you'll not regret reading it.

Marciel Orlando Cardona's husband Felipe died 2 years ago and her daughter Isabel has just discovered that Felipe is not her biological dad. Marciel promises Isabel that she will return to Puerto Rico, where she grew up to tell her biological father that he has a daughter before Isabel arrives.

Ramon Morales grew up poor and was seen by Marciel's parents as not good enough for her. Yet he has managed to start his company in real estate and has turned into a millionaire. He was married once but has never forgotten his first love Marciel.

When Marciel and Ramon see each other again both are keeping secrets from each other and they must discover if they still are in love with each other or only with the idea as they have both spend so many years apart. Will the secrets they are keeping from the other ultimately tear them apart?

I really enjoyed this book. I can't imagine keeping a secret for that long and I really don't know if the truth would have come out if Isabel hadn't discovered it for herself. Marciel has to really come to terms with how telling Ramon the truth may cause her to lose him, yet she still holds off telling him.

I felt so bad for Ramon in the book with his illness. I completely understand why he didn't want anyone to know as he never wanted pity from anyone, yet really suffered for it.

I think the book really shows how fate can prepare us for what we need in life and when we need it. As Marciel talks about they would have given up so much for each other when they were younger that they wouldn't be where they are today if they had managed to stay together.

This book was a really quick and enjoyable read for me. I finished it very quickly because I just didnt want to put it down when I was reading it. The story had a very nice flow in it because it was very well written with good, realistic characters and a good realstic enviornment. Of course the story is not without its drawbacks and intruiges but they are exected and was fitted perfectly into the story and gave the story a depth that was needed.

I like how the book is written and that you as a reader can connect with the characters and you end up rooting for them and want them to succeed. I did that and Ramon was one of the characters I really enjoyed in the book.

What I liked was how the surrounding where described, I could see the countryside, I could smell the food and almost taste it. I used all my senses when reading and I really enjoyed that depth that is so easy left out by so many authors today.

The story flows very well and as I said, this book is a bit of a quick read but it is nothing bad with that. I really enjoyed the book and how it was written and how the story went forward by itself without feeling forced.

I can recommend this book because it is a very nice written book with a very interesting story with a good flow. I will give the book 4/5 starts. it looses one star because even if it is really well written and has a good story, it left me with a feeling of wanting more and not being completly saticfied. there are more to do with the story and to make it a little deeper and less air-hearted but all in all a very good story.

This is my first time reading anything by Hebby Roman and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this lovable story. This was a quick read and I didn't want it to end The whole story had nice flow and was very well written with some realistic characters and good environment. This is Marciel's Orlando Carndona's and Ramon Morales touching story, Marciel's husband has been dead 2 years now and her daughter Isabel just discovered that Felipe is her real father. So Marciel promises Isabel that she will return to Puerto Rico where she grew up and tell her biological father that he has a daughter . Then we have Ramon Morale's who grew up poor and was seen by Marciel 's parents as not good enough for their daughter at one time. But now he has built and managers a real estate business and is now a millionaire. He was once married but has never forgot his first true love. But when they see each other again for the first time in years , they are both keeping secrets from each other. Will their discover that they still love each other or will they both realize they spend to many years apart. Or could the secrets that their are both keeping from each other destroy their chances to be together? I could go on and tell you what happens next but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this great story, because you won't be disappointed.

Lovers reunited after so many years apart should spell a true, over the top, romantic read.

You know the type. The thin books you caught your mom or grandma reading. Pages turned so much the book looks older than it should and several pages have creases from being dog-eared.

This could've been one of those stories if it weren't for the fact I didn't feel a true emotional connection between Maricel and Ramón. For me, I needed more than a brief glimpse to their past.

I also didn't like how late the revelation (you have a child) came about or the timing of it. It was as if the author couldn't figure out when or how to divulge the info and just threw it out there.

For me, this book felt disjointed. I'm sure others will love it. It does have its appeal: sweet union of father/daughter and a HEA.

For me, I just found it lacking.

To Dance Again is a wonderfully crafted second chance romance. When Maricel Cardona’s daughter’s friend is involved in an accident, she decides to give blood. Then she finds out the man she always thought was her father wasn’t. She wants to find him so Maricel goes to Puerto Rico to find her first love, Ramon.

Reading this book, I felt like I was experience the life and culture of Puerto Rico. I could smell the flowers, and taste the food. But what really captivated me was the story of two people reconnecting after 25 years and discovering the spark between them can rekindle their love.

Ms. Roman’s talented as a storyteller is revealed in this heart-warming tale of overcoming obstacles, time and reconnecting love.

Romantic

This is the first time I've read anything from this author. I enjoyed this story very much. I was able to relate to the mature characters and my Latina culture was represented really well.It was like reading about people I know. The story is about secrets, forgiveness and second chances. There were romantic and hot sensual moments between the protagonist that I had to finish the book in one sitting. I give it 4 stars!

Maricel Cardona never got the chance to tell her first love, Ramón Morales, that she was carrying his child as her family forced her to leave. He was hurt and stubbornly did not respond to her attempts to reach him. But Ramón has never stopped thinking of Maricel and what he felt as they danced together. And he’s hiding a secret he feels must never be revealed.

When they are finally reunited, both were still attracted to each other. But she has still not told him her own secret. The suspense builds as the reader watches the two of them, knowing they have serious secrets that could destroy their second chance at being together. Will they risk sharing those secrets and count on their love to keep them together? Grab your copy and see if they make the correct choices or if their love will be destroyed.

Reunited after 27 years, will high school sweethearts get a second chance or will their secrets tear them apart?

The beautiful setting of Puerto Rico for this story is described so well it makes you feel like you're right there in the story enjoying all the sights and sounds of the area.

High school sweethearts get a second chance at love but will they take that chance? The characters are well developed and easy to get to know. The story pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens. A great weekend escape.

To Dance Again is a A Steamy Later-in-Life Contemporary romance about a second chance. A well written story with a very good storyline, the story flows smoothly across the pages. Once I started reading widow Maricel and Ramón Morales' story I was not putting this emotional story down. So many secrets to be uncovered. Set in Puerto Rico, this book makes you feel that you are there experiencing the sights, smells and tastes. It is also a story about a love that was meant to be, a couple who get a second chance. A beautiful and well-written book, it will keep your emotions at a high level.
Although this is steamier than I usually read it was focused more on romance, and I enjoyed it.
