The Elementals: Journey out of Darkness

Rate this book
Suddenly, there was a heavy power in the air. A faint chanting flowed through the night and a pressure built like the coming of a storm. A tremor in the air, like stored up energy, coursed through Ayon's surroundings and there was a bright green light, shining like a star, that illuminated the night. He turned and saw that the source of the light was Kero. Her whole body shone a jade color, the same as her eyes. Ayon covered his face as the light grew more and more radiant, until finally it enveloped the whole street. Magic.
When the glow dimmed Kero was standing, her hair swirling with energy, and her eyes alight with a fire. She took Ayon’s left hand, touching his ring finger. All the energy that had been coursing through her now drained out and flowed into the spot that she touched. Ayon felt the energy course through his own body and closed his eyes as pain seared through him. When the pain had subsided, he glanced down at his hand and saw a glowing, green ring on his finger.
He looked up at Kero and she smiled gently at him.
“I trust you. So the power of my soul is yours.”
The ring glowed and the hilt of a sword produced from it. He wasn't sure what to do at first, suddenly time started moving slowly for him. Almost unconsciously Ayon took a hold of the hilt and drew out the mysterious blade. The sword was long and curved. It seemed to be made up of spiraling jade colored energy. Its shape wavered in his hands, but it held its elegant form. The jade aura around the blade lit up the streets, making the guards flinch in confusion.
Ayon held the sword ready. It was too large for his eight year old hands but he felt like he knew this kind of weapon. Something deep within him pulsed as he felt a familiar weight to it. The aura spread from the sword to his body and he felt full of power. Then, as the guards saw that it was still only one boy, they charged at them. Some fired their crossbows while others drew their swords to attack him. Ayon raised the sword, focusing all of the energy into one single point. The aura traveled back to the blade of the sword and the blade flared with enormous power.
Gathering all the energy he could in his small body Ayon yelled, swinging the sword in a downward slash, his attack engulfed everything in a blinding green light.
