TITLE: Atlas
AUTHOR: Alyne Roberts
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: November 30th 2015

MY RATING: 5 STARS

ATLAS: Gets my 5 stars because I was glued and invested in reading this right to the end, not once was I bored, I loved the story line, the anticipation if she was going to live or die, it wasn't by any means dark but that is only because I have read some real dark shit but it is edgy, some will love this for that gritty element, others may not find this dark enough but the concept of the storyline the mafia element is what I also really loved in this book..

Straight away your thrown into the midst of things when Liddy and her best friend are out on the town for their lastnight together at one of the hottest clubs.

I wouldn't worry about tomorrow. I wouldn't think about the goodbye. I wouldn't fear the move I would be making in the morning to San Francisco.

A stranger at the bar buys the girls two water bottles and two shots..A handsome man in a dark suit, his dark hair neatly in place, he screamed control and power.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He pressed a fresh, cold glass to my liquid, needing to cool down, I drank it without hesitation.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

My head swam and my stomach rolled. The lights were to bright and the music became too loud. My limbs were too heavy to hold me up and felt like i was suddenly melting.

Waking up Liddy remembers the night before, the hot guy who brought her a drink, dancing with him, then getting carried out of the club.

I was restrained with my wrists and ankles tied to a bed.

Her worst nightmare was coming to life

No one would know that I was missing
No one would hear my screams or come to rescue me.

You can't help but get absorbed in the story, you can't help yourself racing through the pages to see what's going to happen to her, you can't help the anticipation coursing through your body, very easy to get into, the story line is my kind of genre, that hint of darkness, that edge of grittiness, I love stories like this, they don't need to be stomach curdling dark they just need to grab me as soon as I start reading and this definitely has accomplished that..

My monsters had found me.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I was ruthless
A killer
And had no room for soft spots
But true to my ethics, I would protect my own
and keep my word. I had no desire to kill

Alyne Roberts is a new author to me and I absolutely loved this book. I inhaled this book in one sitting. Nothing could drag me away from this book.

Stella's about to leave town for a new start after losing everyone that was important to her. Unfortunately things don't go to plan and she finds herself being held captive by Atlas.
Atlas wants answers and he's convinced Stella can give him those answers.

Atlas is such a bad boy and I loved him. My heart aches for Stella with what she had gone through but she's a tough cookie.

I loved this storyline. I found this to be a well written gripping read. Looking forward to reading more from this author. Loved it.

4.5 Stars

This is what I would call a light/dark romance. Perfect for readers newly engaging in dark material. The only reason for a deduction is the story could have gone so much darker, which I would have personally loved even more.

Alyne Roberts is a new author for me but I will be following her future endeavors. This appears to be a standalone novel, but I hope Ms. Roberts makes this into a series as there could be even more potential for this storyline and of course there are 2 other people at the end of the story I want a HEA for.

Atlas is the Prince in a Chicago Crime Family. Stella is in hiding from said family and totally alone due to her entire family being wiped out. There are twists and turns one would not expect and those us "dark" readers automatically expect. Stella appears broken, but all she needs is someone to prove to her she is as strong as they come. All the while you are wondering who you can trust, which I also liked. I appreciated the build-up between them and not them thrown in the sack or against the wall if you prefer (yum) as soon as they meet. I loved that he is more than a Mobster and she is more than some scared/lost little girl. All in All, this was a delicious read, but I want MORE, MORE, MORE!!!

Stella Harlow is alone; no one is left. She is alone and has been looking over her shoulder. Her last night in town with Liddy cutting lose might be okay. Letting go and feeling for one night with the stranger making her feel after months of solitude; why not. She will leave tomorrow to head far away from her nightmares. Stella should be leaving this morning. Instead her head is bounding, her throat is dry and her memory is vague. Where is she … she knows they have found her .. now all that is left is how will they kill her.

Atlas Omega is a violent, dangerous, and brutal man. Someone has betrayed him; his father, Ace his best friend, or someone else? Atlas will find out as he is determined to finish what they started and get his revenge. The “Little Star” he has upstairs holds the answers he needs. She has nothing left to lose. Her mother and father were murdered and her brother is dead as well. But who ordered the hit on Stella? Who did this to her family? He will prey on her fears and he will find out what he needs to know to finish what needs to be finished.

Stella’s life depends on trusting Atlas. What happened to her brother? She knows what happened to her parents. They were murdered and she was there. Atlas wants what she knows but in order to save herself she wont tell him anything. Atlas keeps telling her he will kill her and she has heard him tell Tony and Sal she will be disposed of when they get what they need…. But what happens when everything you thought you knew was nothing more than a web of lies.

This book is beyond incredible. I was on the edge of my seat and the turn of every single page. Between the grit and torment between Atlas and Stella to the murderous hands of the Omegas I was pushing the pages as quickly as I could absorb the words. I can tell you there are some intense scenes between Atlas and Stella as well as the “family” we encounter along the way.

Atlas and Stella’s characters were brilliantly written. I felt intertwined into their story. I felt both of their pain and nightmares. I felt as if I was an outsider looking in on the events as they unfolded; it was like a movie was playing in my head. Being this consumed with a story is everything that a reader craves from an author. When we find ourselves engulfed by a story that is so incredibly crafted, we only want more. Having said that PLEASE Alyne I need to know what else happens. You know there are two characters at the end that I was intrigued to find as back at “home.” I know you know who I am referring to!

Thank you Alyne for the ARC. I am a new reader to you work and now that I was gifted this amazing book you are on my radar big time! Absolutely fantastic … Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

This is a dark gritty romance with touches of violence that some may find disturbing but as a fan of the dark side, it was right up my street.

Stella Harlow is just about to leave her old life behind that has left her whole family dead and her on her own. She knows she needs to get away to keep herself safe. That was her last thought but then she wakes up, a captive. Looking up she sees it is the sexy stranger from the club she was in last night. Now she knows he was there for a reason, a reason she knows she will be finding out about all too soon.

Atlas Omega is a dangerous, broody alpha of a man. Having lived a life as the son of a mob boss, he has learned to walk on the dark, evil side of life. But there has always been that part of him inside that was given to him by his sweet and gentle mother, his humanity. After finding out some serious secrets that were hidden from him, he starts to unravel just what his family has been up to and why Stella and her family were involved. But in the meantime he trusts no one, especially not Stella who he needs to spill what happened on the night her parents were murdered. Just what did she see and what can she reveal that will help him discover who he needs to finish. Will that be his father or someone else? After losing his best friend and confident, Ace, who also happened to be Stella’s brother, he has only himself to unravel the mystery.

This was a gritty and at times, very violent read. There was an intensity throughout, whether that be with the chemistry between captor and captive, or the murderous undertones and threats. It was some of these threats (or promises) that Atlas kept giving Stella such as she will either be murdered by others or him, which kept me that one step back from fully investing in their pairing. I also didn’t understand the standoff between father and son and why the secret dealings were, well secret. However, it was a griping read with a surprise reveal near the end. Overall a good solid four star read.

4.5 Stars but I have to round up.

Stella Harlow's perfect life is taken from her in an instant when her father, a policeman and her mother are killed in their house. Her brother is missing and presumed dead due to his connection with the mob. She has managed to allude the people who killed her family and decides to celebrate her last night before moving out on the town with her best friend Libby. That was a mistake.

Atlas Omega has taken Stella and she is unsure of whether he will kill her or protect her, as he was best friends with her brother Ace. Yet, it was his family that got Ace killed. He is definitely attracted to Stella but knows his survival is based on her not living.

This book was incredible. It kept me in suspense and you honestly are on the edge of your seat the whole time trying to figure out what is happening and where everyone's allegiances are.

There is some violence towards women and some difficult things discussed but I didn't find it hard to handle or over the top. This is a story that involves the mob, which obviously has a code which they adhere to with violence.

I truly loved Stella's character in that part of her honestly wanted to die when she was kidnapped but a part of her really fought to survive as well. She had gone through so much and really felt like she was already not important when she was kidnapped.

Atlas was a tough character as part of me really liked him but at times I absolutely hated him. He had his own issues growing up with a mob boss as his father and he was expected to always toe the line and follow along with whatever his father decided to do next.

Definitely looking forward to reading another book by this author as this was my first one!

description

I love my stories dark and gritty and that is exactly what was delivered. A fast paced tale with mobsters and death in the air.

Stella was leaving, there was nothing left for her in Chicago. Her family was all gone and she held the secrets to what happened tight within her. After months of waiting for them to come and get her, she decided it was time to get out. Until he came for her.

"Don't fuck this up, Little Star, or I will slit your throat."

Atlas, prince to a mobster empire, wanted answers and there is only one person who had them. She was better alive, at the moment, but her demise hung over them. A stone-cold, calculated killer, he was fulfilling his promises and waging a war. He had a plan, a back-up plan and another plan just in case. What he didn't plan on was Stella.

"Atlas kissed like he lived. He was powerful and forceful, taking whatever he wanted."

This book kept me captivated from beginning to end. Everyone had an end-game and you are held prisoner until you find out what that is. You are moved quickly through the story and methodically the pieces all seem to come together. The war brews until the breaking point, where loyalties are tested with blood and death.

"We clashed together like a train wreck."

Stella is a fierce character, fighting for her family and fighting to stay alive. Atlas is the controlling factor, set to lead his army and fulfill his promises. They have undeniable chemistry, even when they shouldn't and Stella's death is inevitable. I really liked this story and there is perhaps room for other characters to get a story of their own.

WOW! Not sure how quickly I'm going to be able to go to sleep tonight, as this book was one hell of an exciting ride that got my blood pumping! I LOVED LOVED LOVED every minute of it.

Stella lost everything when her family is killed, and now she lives in hiding before the assassins can come back and finish the job. On the eve of her finally moving far away, she goes to a club with her best friend. She meets a hot guy that she flirts with, and then the next thing she knows, she wakes up tied to a bed in his house. Atlas is a powerful mob boss' son, and highly dangerous. He drugs Stella, and takes her to his lake house to get to the bottom of the story of her family's murder while keeping a promise to her brother. He has an instant connection to her, and no matter how much he fights it, it keeps growing. Stella is fighting as she's convinced he's the reason for her family being killed so she makes life impossible. When Stella's life depends on Atlas' protection, will she learn to trust him?

Atlas was an amazing, and intense story. It started out at high levels of intensity, and it never came down. The character development is fantastic, although I was enraged at Atlas a lot of the time. An exciting, intense, and well written story line flows smoothly, making it hard to put down. Alyne Roberts' talented writing style had me hooked cover to cover, and kept me on my toes with the twists and turns. The chemistry is flammable, leading to EXPLOSIVELY HOT sexy scene goodness. I feel like I still have a few questions, so I'm praying that she writes another book with the secondary characters. I am very excited to read more by this author, and I happily HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I was not expecting to be fall in love with this book. At all.

I have to admit that Alyne Roberts is completely new to me, but she is definitely going down on my list of authors to look out for.

What I loved the most about Atlas, was Atlas himself. He took no shit off anyone, he was a complete dick at times and made no apologies for it, and he was so damn hot!

I've read several 'Mafia' type books but I can honestly say, this is up there because the H stays true to himself. I've read other books where as soon as H meets the h, the gang member/mob boss turns into a pussy and h walks around with his balls in her back pocket...but I'm happy to say this wasn't the case with Atlas.

I'm honestly struggling to find something I disliked about this book.

Will definitely re-read at some point :)

DNF @ 44%.

I am making a resolution for this year that I will no longer read books where the H abuses the h. I can no longer condone this type of material and will not support author's who are jumping into this horrible trend.

Rachel's Review~
This is my first book by Alyne Roberts and I don't know that I could have picked a better one. This is Chicago mob, but not like the mob books you're used to..It's about Atlas Omega, the son of el capo, the boss man of the Chicago mob and Stella, the daughter of one of Chicago's finest, yep her daddy's a cop. Stella has a brother, Ace, who went to the dark side..Ace is Atlas' best friend, only Atlas had no clue until it was too late that Ace's dad was a cop. Stella woke up one night to her mom pleading for their lives, and then Pop! Pop! her parents were gone and her brother was in the wind...she assumed he too was killed. Stella, the only one left ten months later is moving away from that house and Chicago out to San Francisco to try and reclaim her life. That one night, clubbing with her bestie Liddy, is the end of life as Stella knows it.
I LOVED Atlas, as I'm sure that was Ms. Roberts intention LOL.
He was strong, take no shit, and Oh So Bad. He liked his women tied up and helpless, YES PLEASE, and he tried his hardest to stay away from Stella, his best friends little sister, whom he promised to protect from harm, mainly being his family and enemies.
Stella, waking up tied to a bed with no knowledge of where she was or how she got there is freaking...
~When I was a kid, I thought that monsters only lurked in the darkness. It was only at night when evil cam out. As I grew up, I learned that the scary stories had that part very wrong. When the sun rose, the evil was still there. If you turned on the lights, the monsters were still there. They were not afraid of the light or the dark.
Throughout the story you have a lot of back n forth between Stella and Atlas. You sense the attraction between the two and can't wait to see it fulfilled.
~You saved me, I told him.
And you ruined me, he said as he wrestled off his jacket and pants. You destroyed me. Broke down my defends and got inside my walls.
~What am I paying for? I moaned as I felt his skin on mine again.
Making me fall in love with you, he bit out before pushing into me.
The characters were good, I loved the mythological references, along with Atlas' name...I mean really, doesn't the name just sound strong enough to hold the heavens and the earth on his shoulders?
The sexy was oh so sexy, love the force, the ropes, the adrenalin rush that Stella would feel when surrounded by Atlas.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this story has a wending and weaving Human Trafficking plot throughout...you get bits and pieces but no true ending..so I'm assuming another story could be coming along?
Since I read the first 75% and didn't want to put the book down, but tis the season's crap and all, I was surrounded by family, commitments of a holiday dinner and shopping, so I HAD to set Atlas aside for a little bit but his story was never far from my mind...even as I walked through the mall...
so 4.5 STELLAR (ha) stars

The author hasn’t put a warning up for the book but I just want you all to note that this is a dark romance. This isn’t as dark as some of the books that I have read but it’s just dark enough that I feel a warning is needed. So if you tend to not like dark romances then you may want to possibly skip this one or just take the warning to heart when you start it.

I was actually surprised how much that I really enjoyed Atlas, while I have finally gotten out of my bad book slump for the most part I am still cautious when starting a book by an author I am not familiar with. I shouldn’t have worried with Atlas, because I got sucked in pretty quickly and it continued to hold my attention until the very end. Atlas is dark, dangerous, sexy as hell and will have you wondering if you were in Stella’s place would you trust the man who you think had something to do with the death of your family? I’m just going to say that Atlas could tie me up any day and I won’t complain.

I don’t know if there will be a second book or not. The way it ended could leave it open for another book, but I am not going to say who I think might be the hero in that one because I don’t want to give any hints away so read the book and make your own conclusions.

MUST READ 2 person POV story. It's hot, sexy, dark, full of life, love, fear ,and over coming that fear. Alpha males like nothing before. I blushed and loved it. I got sucked into the words, which made this story a fast paced read for me once I started I couldn't stop for anything in fact I think I was even late for work I just had to do one more page over and over again. 5* read for sure. My first time reading from this amazing and wonderful author and it wont be my last not if all her work is so well written and told like Atlas.

Stella has decided to leave town for a new start when she is taken captive by Atlas. He wants answers from her and will do what needs to be done to get those answers. Her brother has disappeared and her family killed. Atlas has a connection to her brother and his family had something to do with all that has happened to her. My heart broke for Stella and all that she suffered. I wanted her to find the will to live within Atlas world and loved that they fell for each other. Their story has some serious twists and turns that had me captivated until the very last page. I so enjoyed it.

I give Atlas 4 hearts!

Bikers. Abductions, now Mafia overload-

Though all these mafia romances are flooding the market, I was leery to read another. However this one was good, best it didn't leave us hanging awaiting another sequel that could or could not be released within the year, so there is a plus! Good read but I think this was my final mafia genre purchase

I flew through this book! It definitely keeps the reader on edge! I liked how Stella didn't back down to her kidnappers. She gave them a run for their money. Atlas's reasoning for holding her captive was sort of bittersweet. He had a heart, even though it was partially black. The sexual chemistry was off the charts. I needed more from the sex scenes, though. The detail was there, but it just always seemed like it was being used as an outlet for his anger. It was kind of repetitive, too! Whatever floated Stella's boat I guess! The twists that kept coming made the book really hard to put down. There were some really bad people doing some really bad things, and it was good to see their progress being unraveled. I'd definitely read more books by this author!

Another reviewer phrased it really well--this has the potential to be dark, and I feel like it's TRYING to be dark....but it's not. From what I've managed to read, Atlas is all talk--he threatens to kill her multiple times, and yet he chooses to spend the night watching over her because he claimed he couldn't put the cuffs back on her because she'd scratched up her wrists during a botched escape attempt. How am I supposed to believe he'd ever follow through on his threat to slit her throat if he can't even put a cuff on her because it would make her boo-boo feel ouchie?

Atlas - Alyne Roberts

## 5 Stars ###

This book was sat on my kindle for some time, I went into it having no idea what I was about to read... and damn was this book good, it kept my attention the whole way through. I love a good captive suspense novel and this one truly hit the mark.

Stella is a good girl, dealing with the death of her family and keeping her head down, constantly looking over her shoulder. Atlas is seriously handsome, but very bad news.

This book wasn't overly dark, but the suspense factor completely outdid the lack of dark matter.

I haven't read anything from this author before but that will now change, I'll be reading them all !!

I devoured this book in one sitting. Initially I was attracted to the cover of the book as it certainly piqued my interest…half naked men seem to do that LOL however, as soon as I started reading I was hooked. Intrigue, suspense, revenge, a hot alpha and some pretty steamy sexy time…

Stella has lost everyone and everything important in her life. After all the lies and hiding she finally decides to put the past behind and is ready for a fresh start somewhere where her brothers enemies won’t find her. However, one last night out with her best friend turns into her worst nightmare, she finds herself held captive by the one thing or should that be person she was running from.

Atlas is dangerous, violent and determined to finish what they started and get his revenge. Stella is inadvertently the key to solving the unanswered questions her brother left behind. Taking advantage of their sexual chemistry he will do anything he can to get those answers.

I really enjoyed the plot, I thought the story flowed and was well written. I easily felt connected to the characters and enthusiastically joined them on their journey which focused on love, loss, revenge and trust. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, I was fully invested in the story it consumed me. I’m hoping it’s not the last we hear from Stella and Atlas…

Would recommend for fans that enjoy a slightly darker read.

Stella Harlow has been in solitude for months because she’s hiding from her nightmare. She’s leaving town tomorrow and decided that one night out won’t hurt especially when one encounter with a stranger makes her feel things she hasn’t felt for the months she’s been in solitude. Little did she know that her nightmares were with her the night she went out.

Atlas Omega is dangerous, brutal and some might say a violent man. Someone betrayed him. He suspects that it was someone close; perhaps his father or Ace his best friend but before he could question them they were murdered. Stella’s the only one standing, but not for long. Atlas wants answers. Answers so that he can start his revenge. But first he must find out who put the hit on Stella and what she’s hiding before he can tie up loose ends.

What happens if everything you were told, knew and saw were nothing more than a web of lies created for you to miss the very thing that was in front of you the whole time?

I love this story because it kept me at the edge of my seat the whole entire time. The intense scenes between Stella and Atlas were my favorite and I couldn’t get enough of them. The pain and rawness was remarkable. I felt like a movie was playing in my head watching everything unfold. Being so consumed in this book that I literally read it again right after I finished it. I was addicted and to have it end the way it did. WOW. I need more. Alyne, please tell me there’s more!!! There has to be!

I was gifted with a complimentary copy of Atlas for an honest review.

Although this book was not as dark as I expected, I still enjoyed it a lot. I finished this book in one day.

Stella witnessed something no child should ever see. As the only living person in her family she's alone.  After months of keeping quiet and becoming invisible, she's ready to start over in a new place. Agreeing to go to the club with get best friend Liddy, Stella meets a gorgeous guy she decides to have some fun before leaving. Waking up the next morning tied to a bed and the stranger from the night before the reason, steal l Stella regrets it immediately. Introducing himself as Atlas, Stella brother's best friend and reason why she's alone.

Atlas has one job to do and that's to take out the last Harlow member. Although Atlas enjoys seeing Stella tied to a bed, he had other plans for her. She knows who killed her parents and he wants that information and will do what ever to get it. Even kill.

The sexual tension between Stella and Atlas is palpable when they're together. I enjoyed the roller coaster of emotions they both go thru. And when they finally give into their urges... Holy s***! I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good book with high sexual tension and good storyline to go with it.

Alone. No Family. One Friend. Depleted. Tired. Cautious. Frightened.

I am sure that we all can relate to the these in some way.

This is what Stella has been going through since her family was murdered - two that she witnessed. Not knowing when she might be next or even continuing in her town she has set her sights on San Fran. So she thinks.

One night of a send off from her one friend and her world has changed. Who made this change? Atlas. Why? Well….. I cannot tell you that but what I can tell you is this.

You felt her fear. You felt her need. You felt her anger. You felt her strength.
Why her? Why her family? Why these new feelings?
Is this Stockholm syndrome or is this actual real feelings?
How can she survive with her life and her heart?

Atlas wants her. He wants what she… remember I cannot to you that part. He wants to kill her. He wants to fuck her. He wants to own every bit of her.
What is happening within his mob world? What has happened to his control? What has this girl done to him? He needs to regain every bit of control and fast. Not as easy as he thinks.

Suspense. Murder. Escape. Analogies. Plots. Sex. Mystery. Love.

Can Atlas hold up both their Worlds? Will Stella be the Star that they need?

***Arc was given by author for honest review***

Stella Harlow has lost her parents and her brother, so she is moving far away to try and start over and put plenty of miles between her and the people who killed her family.

Atlas Omega needs information and he thinks Stella can give it to him. After he gets what he needs, he will end her life.

One final night out with her friend before she left. It was supposed to be fun a release instead the incredibly sexy stranger who bought her a drink has her hidden away in his cabin in the middle of nowhere and he wants information that she refuses to give him. She figures the longer she holds onto the information he wants, the longer she lives and can maybe get away.

He will break her, but it may also break him. The more he learns the closer they become and the more things change between them. Stella knows he's a killer and that eventually he will kill her, but she's also beginning to trust him, fall for him. So many conflicting emotions. Their want for one another just may kill them both.

Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books Blog.

After some traumatizing events in Stella's life. She decided to pick up and move. She was tired of hiding and wanted a different life for herself.

She wanted one last night on the town with her best friend. But things didn't go as planned. She was kidnapped and hidden from the public. But she is surprised as she finds out the man that took her wants information about the event she witnessed.

He is dangerous, handsome and very scary. He wants information but Stella is refusing to answer any questions. But the chemistry between them is very electric.
There is much more to this story, I refuse to give to much away.
But I will say I loved this book. The characters are written perfectly. At times, it felt like you could feel their feelings.

Thank you for a wonderfully written book. I need more of Atlas!!!!!!!!

5 Stars!!!!!!

Atlas is one of those wonderful books that grabs your attention right from the start. But, it also continues holds onto you tightly throughout the story. I loved Stella's attitude and spunk, she was a tough cookie, but Alyne Roberts was able to show her humanness, without making her needy or weak. Atlas, oh boy. You hated him, craved him and felt for him. He was the perfect counterpoint to all the uncertain and violent happenings throughout the story, you were never really sure about him until the end. There was mystery, violence, heartache, retribution and hot, hot sex! What more could you ask for? After reading Atlas, I'm excited to read more from Roberts, and I'm a sucker for a fully developed and satisfying STAND ALONE! They seem rare in these days of series and my least favorite serials. Brilliant!

When I first started this book I thought it was going to play out like other dark books I have read. I was wrong!
I thought it was going to be the typical weak girl gets kidnapped suffers from Stockholm syndrome and falls for him. I was wrong!

There was so much more to this story a huge mob involved mystery played out, a sex slave ring, a love story, families were torn apart, secrets, deception, murder I could go on and on...
Through it all, you feel for Stella who has lost everything and everyone only to be kidnapped by Atlas who has been ordered to kill her.
But we learn sometimes the bad guy is your protector and to quote Stella's father 'Sometimes good people have to do bad things to save others from bad things'
I really enjoyed this book. I would love to see a book about her brother Ace and/or a book about her BFF Liddy.
