Today, "Christ-like" is the word used to describe a noble-hearted, gentle, humane and selfless person. This book is the story of Christ who is regarded as the embodiment of the best qualities in human nature - a man who lived 2,000 years ago. The life and career of Christ are comparatively the best-documented events in ancient history; in fact, history divides itself into epochs - one before Christ and one after him.
Anant Pai popularly known as Uncle Pai, was an Indian educationalist and creator of Indian comics, in particular the Amar Chitra Katha series in 1967, along with the India Book House publishers, and which retold traditional Indian folk tales, mythological stories, and biographies of historical characters. In 1980, he launched Tinkle, a children's anthology, which was started under Rang Rekha Features, India's first comic and cartoon syndicate, that lasted till 1998, with him as the Managing Director.
Today, Amar Chitra Katha sells about three million comic books a year, in English and more than 20 Indian languages, and has sold about 100 million copies since it inception in 1967 by Anant Pai, and in 2007 was taken over by ACK Media.
The story of Jesus is told in this wonderful book - simple art reminiscent of the old Classics Illustrated series. This is a wonderful series that I recommend to all my friends; I have learned so much about Indian history from these amazing books. Give one of these books a try - you won't be sorry!
This comic by ACK is truly thorough and beautifully depicts the birth and life of Jesus Christ. It also has snippets of his teachings.
If one was looking to understand better of Christianity which revolves around the birth, life and crucification as well as resurrection of Jesus Christ, one needs to look no further. This is a great place to start.
Love how ACK has illustrated and told the story of the saviour to the world.
Wow! Very beautiful and colorful illustrations. The dialog was very direct and to the point; it said what it needed to say in a concise way. There was so much more that could have been added here about Jesus’ ministry, but it gave excellent highlights. I liked how there wasn’t too much extraneous dialogue complicating the truth of what Jesus taught. Highly recommended for a quick overview of the life of Jesus. It has inspired me to read the gospels!
