Do you want to lose weight? Have mood swings? Experience any puffiness or joint pain? Do you feel lethargic or fatigued? Is your gut acting up? Have you tried fad diets, gone to doctors, popped pills without seeing results? It’s not your fault! It’s because the vast majority of these conditions are being treated inappropriately or misdiagnosed by the standard health care model. Through exhaustive research and clinical experience, Dr. Mindy has discovered what is really behind these common conditions and how to eliminate them once and for all through the Reset Factor - Dr. Mindy’s scientifically based whole body system to restore you to perfect health, from the inside out.
I was bothered by the author's opinion of vaccinations and her blaming some health problems on pasteurized dairy products. Where would we be today if dedicated scientists had not taken the time and effort to discover ways to protect us from certain diseases? Although I know that good chiropractic care can be a big boost to pain relief and better health, I am not ready to drink the smoothies and take the supplements the author suggests while removing some other things from my diet. Several years ago some doctors were saying that soy might contribute to estrogen-fed breast cancer, but more recently I have read that soy may not present that problem so I am not sure which is true. If the author has helped people who have read this book and followed her instructions, then kudos to the author and to those it has helped. I will not be trying her reset program myself. I also found a few errors in the book that might have been corrected by careful editing.
Very informative, however might be time for a new edition. There are multiple typos in this book. What I found most disappointing is that the author frequently references the webpage www.resetfactor.com which seems to no longer exist. Because of this, the resources she recommends on her website are not available.
Expensive and restrictive. Only suitable for a few
Although the author did her best to provide enough background for her choice in diet, it is an extremely restrictive diet based on her own experience and comes with a lot of very expensive supplements which are a must of you want results (according to the author). I do agree that restricting highly processed foods and sugar is a very good thing for all of us!
And that for some who are not diagnosed yet with an allergy to dairy or gluten this diet may help.
But her diet is so restrictive that this no long term solution for the majority of us. Nor is buying all these very expensive supplements. I was curious seeing the author on youtube with a lot of rave reviews. Reading about her diet made me realize this is not a lifestyle for me. I think I will try the method from dr Mosley who wrote a book also focussing on the gut and the health benefits coming from repairing your gut. His approach is simpler, more affordable suggesting day to day foods in stead of expensive supplements and most importantly I feel I would be able to follow his recommandations for the long term.
Average at best. There is so much self promotion in this book it isn’t funny. The author makes some big statements with no evidence to back them, centres the whole book around weight loss and repeats herself a countless number of times. Amongst all of this, there is some good evidence based information surrounding nutrition as well as toxins in both our food and environment. The book would have been much more enjoyable without all of the former mentioned things.
This book was just not for me. I enjoy Mindy's YouTube videos, hence I wanted to check out her book.
This was just a super long list of things I mustn't eat. It was too much fear-mongering in a single book for me to handle. It could all be true but I don't like to pick a book just to dread my life.
Plus this was too US-centric, i couldn't relate to a single food she was mentioning. Yes, the problems are similar but the solutions are so out of my area that they seem impossible.
What's the point of a book that tells me everything that's wrong with my diet but not give me tools to correct it? I didn't have a satisfying experience reading this book, rather I felt like I'll have to do lots of research to fit these learnings into a non-US lifestyle.
Definitely not worth the effort. I would rather watch her videos which atleast would be updated from time to time.
An easy, highly informative read on resetting our eating habits for greater health - I absolutely LOVE this book, and the best thing, Dr. Mindy is right here in downtown SJ! I have learned so much in the two months since I met her, and my family is going to reap the health benefits for years to come.
Easy enough to read. I'm currently on day 14 of my 15-day detox, so clearly it was compelling enough for me to try it.
The book is missing a bit of information, could use a timeline of when to take which supplements, I created one for myself.
It also occasionally talks about exercise routines she'll have you do during the reset, and there is no mention of that in the book - I kept anticipating an appendix with some exercise routines in it.
Additionally, I eat a vegan and gluten-free diet, and there is no accomodations in the book for this, so I've been figuring it out with other resources, but this is an area that is lacking in the book.
These missing things are the reason I've given 4 stars instead of 5.
I like that she breakdown exactly what you need to do along with a plan to stay on track. She provides basic info that provides an understanding of what and why we should avoid or take and how it works in our system. I will be following this helpful guide.
Holding out on the 5 star rating until I give the rest a personal trial :-)
Dr. Pelz is masterful in communicating complex science so simply. She was so easy to read and understand. I’m so eager to start this reset and will be back to finish my review.
First book I read by Dr Mindy after being told about her by a friend. So many amazing bits of information that helped me do the 45 day reset. It’s challenging but the results speak for themselves.
The book is free to read if you have kindle unlimited.
This was some interesting information for resetting your diet and lifestyle. However, I found the actual 14 reset diet and 30-day follow-up very unorganized. There was not an easy organized format to follow. There was some contradictory information on the diets and recipes throughout the book.
Full Disclosure: I'm a bit of a biased reader on this one. I know Dr. Mindy well and think what she's doing is amazing for humans everywhere.
The Reset Factor is a must-read for anyone looking for THE solution to deteriorating health. Guys, the answer is (and always has been) diet and exercise. The problem, of course, is that there are a thousand books out there disputing just what kind of diet and just what kind of exercise matters. Dr. Mindy's method is tried and true and natural as can be. It works.
Dr. Mindy outlines the steps to get your health back on track, no matter where you are in life. She's your teacher, your guru and guide, and your cheerleader on your path to health. If you find her prose to be enthusiastic, know none of that is fabricated. That's Dr. Mindy! She loves her patients and wants to make the world a better place with preventative health.
There are a couple things that are mentioned in this book that I wish were explained more... like the brief mention of vaccines being no bueno (obviously this is a contentious topic) and the section about fasting. The book also seems to be geared more toward women than men, though I'm sure it applies equally well to both genders.
Bottom line, if you're ready for a health change, read this book and get started on the reset right away. It's awesome stuff.
I read the book - not one time but multiple times, and am now on day 11 of the fall 15-day detox. This takes commitment and planning, but it is absolutely doable. I am already feeling better than ever. More energy, mental clarity, focused, I sleep better, everything tastes better and... my cravings are gone. The wonderful thing about this book is that it is written in a "language" that everyone understands. If you are about to start a journey to a better health, I can highly recommend this book.
Mindy Pelz does an excellent job explaining body functions and how to reset your body by taking care of your gut. This is a must-read for all those who want to take charge of their health and wellness.
Hands down, this is the most insightful, helpful book I have ever read on health. It has changed my life for the better in every way. I can't recommend this book highly enough!
