What a magnificent story! It truly captures the spirit of this social media era. I was amazed to embark on this journey through the eyes of someone who didn't experience social media until now. This is a nicely crafted story, with plenty of turns and twists to keep the reader entertained. There are so many intriguing stories within the main story... the old friends, the new connections, the muse, the different cities (from Europe to USA), a world of possibilities.
When I finished this book I discussed with my friends about the possibility of only recently diving into this world of soundbites, images, gifs, articles and a ton of information delivered on a daily basis.
I remember reading Generation X some time ago and I got a similar feeling with this book. In a way, it perfectly encapsulates this era of information overload, with everything and everyone so accessible.
I'm recommending this book to everyone, such a beautiful and heartfelt testimony of a specific time in human history. Funny and insightful, deep but also light-hearted, this book is an absolute corker!
I'll definitely buy the next book from Paulo Ramos, I'm curious to follow his fiction. A very auspicious start, don't miss this amazing book!
The meek, the smarmy, the dazzled, the dazzling, the tabula rasa of the electonically brainwashed, the bold, the brave, the comatose, the confused, the enlightened, the self-hypnotized, the medicated, the sociopaths and their victims, all will inherit the Earth. Then there will be the showdown. Everyone armed with iPhones, iPads, and Galaxy S7s, the battle will rage. It will all be posted on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest. This will overload the internet. The cables will melt, communication satellites will explode. All social media will come to an abrupt halt. Unable to post selfies, huge segments of the online community will go into a deep funk. Suicides will skyrocket. Industry and commerce will shut down. Banks will close. Everyone will die.
That's basically what I got from this book. Reading between the lines, of course.
As an aside, I also learned that Lisbon is a great place. I want to visit there sometime!
What a Great book! I never thought I would be saying "when I was a kid I ..." . That seems like something my mom would say. But this book has it down pat. The social media is so vast that I just can't comprehend all of it. This book gives you Insight into how it has taken over everything we do, but in a fun way. You can do just about anything "online" nowadays and this author delves you into the story doing just that. So many of the things in this book ring so true. "Just Google it" has become the thing to say when you don't know something. I say that all the time. I love the authors story taking you into the vast expanse of the internet and how it affects everything we do. The story is well written and I definitely would recommend it.
I loved it! I must admit that “Like, Comment, Share” is not the typical kind of book I usually find myself reading, but having just finished it, I can certainly say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Paulo Ramos offers a commentary on how much the digital world influences all of our lives and relationships through a personal story that I found to be very relatable to my own past experiences and feelings.
What stands out the most to me about this book is definitely the writing style; the narrative is structured to a very refined standard, it flows well and keeps up a smooth momentum throughout the book that keeps the read entertaining as well as thought provoking. To put it briefly, I am more than satisfied with the book and I will be keeping an eye out for future releases by Paulo Ramos.
