When a Scottish lord finds an enchanting stowaway in his stolen cargo, he decides to keep her...
After failing to find a suitable wife, Lord Ian MacLachlan turns his attention to restoring his crumbling estate in the wild, remote Scottish Highlands. When his less scrupulous brothers rove the countryside, they bring back an unexpected prize: a beautiful woman wearing a priceless sapphire. The honorable Ian apologizes for the mistake and offers to return her home.
Home is the last place Miranda Worth wants to be. It took all her courage to run away from her intolerable situation, and she believes a lie is her only defense...even though Ian's eyes make her want to tell him everything. But if she waits too long for the truth, she may lose everything she loves.
Lady in Sapphire is a stand-alone novella set in the Secrets of the Zodiac world.
Elizabeth Cole is a romance author with a penchant for history, which is why she lives in an old house in an old city. She can be found hanging around libraries and archives, or curled in a corner reading, cat on lap. She believes in love at first sight. Then again, she also believes that mac 'n' cheese is a healthy breakfast, so don't trust her judgment on everything.
Ian’s brothers go and rustle a few sheep and find a wagon sitting at a crossroad. When they get back they take the cover and find a small woman hiding. Her name is Mira. Events start happening and the ending turns out great!!
Lord Ian MacLachlan is a Highland Baron who takes his position as the head and laird of of his clan seriously. All he wants is to ensure his people are provided for and if that means working round the clock to restore his estate then so be it. While Ian is all that is dutiful and responsible, his younger brothers are quite the opposite and think nothing of going off raiding to steal whatever they can. What no one expected was that hidden in a cart they bring (ie steal) back is a lovely young woman, Mira.
A short, easy and light read - it was 55 pages on my ereader. The romance is quite understated. The story is more of Mira adapting to live at Lachlan & fitting in. I liked Ian, the dutiful Baron who is responsible & works hard for his people. His brothers add a bit of humor with their rather more devil may care & reckless behavior – after all they are the ones who stole a woman! The language was a bit more modern that I like but still quite enjoyable overall.
I really like the Secrets of the Zodiac series. I find each book to be a nice combination of mystery and suspense, strong heroines and heroes and romance in an historical setting. Lady in Sapphire fits nicely into that group. The suspense/mystery level is not has high as the other books. At only 77 pages, it is hard to get into too complex of a story. But there there is just enough to make is an honorary member of the series. What I liked most about Lady in Sapphire is the heroine and hero. Miranda Worth and Ian MacLahlan. Miranda's secrets provide the mystery. Ian's home provides the setting for the couple to come together and fall in love. Whether or not you have read other Secrets of the Zodiac books, I think you will find that Lady in Sapphire is a lovely book to spend a couple of hours with.

Nicely written story of a damsel in distress who is rescued from her evil cousin by a handsome Highlander. The damsel and the highlander fall in love, the evil guy gets his due, and there is an adventure that leads to something special. I like that Elizabeth Cole‰Ûªs novellas get to the point without making me feel like I missed something. This one was good, and it contained one of my favorite literary phrases: (it‰Ûªs going to be) a dark and stormy night. I have laughed every time I‰Ûªve read it since I saw Snoopy sitting with his typewriter on top of his doghouse as he started is great American novel with ‰ÛÏIt was a dark and stormy night!‰Û If Lady in Sapphire hadn‰Ûªt already been a 5 star book, that would have synched it!
Though not directly related to the Zodiac plot line, this novella is the story of Ian MacLachlan, introduced in "The Lady Dauntless" and a stolen young lady.
