The Sherman tank was undoubtably the most important tank produced in World War II. With over 50,000 tanks produced and used by all the major allies one could argue that it was the reason that the allies won the war. In addition to this it fought for the US Army in the Korean War and soldiered on in the US Army until 1956. The Sherman fought for the Israelíes in the Yom Kippur War capping off an astonishing 31 years of combat service. In this massive volume Honeycutt presents us with the story of the Sherman, details of its’ many variants , and its combat history. This volume is full of technical details, photos, and the rationale and uses for those variants . It is a must read for anyone interested in the history of armor.
