In this sequel to Water Into Whine, Jackie and Robert Grace, together with their daughter Aileen and her boyfriend, are visiting their old friends James and Miriam Redders. Now vicar of an island parish off the western coast of Scotland, James is still up to his old seductive tricks, but his church is in trouble and attendances are falling. The Graces discover that some of the islanders have a grudge against James' unconventional ministry. He is opposed by an influential group of hardline puritans; by the leader of the local pagan group; also by the island's laird, who is a self-professed Satanist with no love for the church. With a visit from the Bishop due to check on James' progress, the Graces decide that they must help repair their friend's damaged reputation and boost his congregation, and they can think of only one way to do this: by discovering the kinks and fetishes of the people who oppose him, then getting their pants off and seducing them!Vicars and Tarts is a steamy, fun-packed sex comedy, oozing eroticism and seduction. Guaranteed to get all your hot spots tingling!
As I read this book, I was thinking it was a brilliant example of an English, bawdy romp! However, thinking of the Carry On movies or even the more literary novel Tom Jones, the reality is that where those earlier stories were full of suggestion and innuendo, this book is full of explicit sex. I really enjoyed the book and it was a very easy read but if you don't like reading explicit sex then your reaction may be different. I love that at the heart of the romping is the local vicar, who is joined for a holiday by his friends. (Definitely worthy of a 'Carry On' film plot.) The characters are well described and there is a real plot as the vicar attempts to increase the size of his congregation at the remote church where he is the newly appointed vicar. Helped by his friends, they all find just enough time between the varied sex escapades to tackle those opposed to attending church for one reason or another. This is a fun, entertaining read but it is also well written and in its own way quite educational. I discovered a new use for a bottle of ketchup! Highly recommended if you are not prudish.
This is the second book in the series that I have read and the best way to describe these books are erotic comedy. It reads a bit like a carry on but with lots of sex and erotic scenes, that involve fruit and ketchup bottles. I have read other books by Kelly in different genres, and quite frankly I'm not sure how he does it
Without the erotic scenes, here we have a perfectly good funny story of a vicar trying to build his congregation on a Scottish Isle. He is helped by his friends from a previous posting who come to visit. With the erotica you do indeed have something special.
This is not your typical perfect bodied erotica, it's funny, sexy and sometimes so over the top you will either gasp or laugh out loud.
I have never read anything like water into whine and vicar and tarts. If you like a good funny story, this is for you. If you like erotica, this is for you, if you like both, well where else could you go. An excellent, funny romp which will have you heading for a cold shower.
Vicars and Tarts falls into the little known- and possibly never-before-used!- genre of comedy erotica. It is a hugely fun and lighthearted book. You can't go more than a few pages without encountering a sex scene and these are usually very creative affairs; guaranteed to make you blush, cringe or both! Amongst all the sex is an engaging storyline and a cast of surprisingly three-dimensional characters. I would have liked to read a little more description of the beautiful Scottish island where the book is set, but I suppose that's not what we're here for! I really liked the way it was not just the young and beautiful that got in on the action, but I won't say more for fear of giving anything away! Great fun but definitely not for the faint hearted.
The best description for this book is an erotic comedy! Honestly, I've read nothing like it and that's what makes it so unique and fun to read.
The author continues from the first book (Water into Whine) with the Grace's visiting their new (swinging) friends James and Miriam Redders (the vicar and his wife) in the bonnie scottish isles. The vicar and his wife are not the expected saintly couple you'd see in your village church, and the Grace's enjoy lots of romps which are fun and dirty - will make readers of romance and erotic toes curl! Also their daughter Aileen and her new boyfriend, join in on the fun, with their experimentation and exploration! There is also a lovely story behind all this, about friendship, support and trust - which kind of caught me by surprise.
I've read the first book, and the second book really doesn't disappoint!
This is another excellent, naughty, dirty romp by Michael Kelly who really knows how to entertain whilst keeping you hot under the collar (literally)! Clearly the author had a lot of fun writing this, as I had fun reading this. It certainly got me 'hot' under the collar at times, but I enjoyed the introduction of new characters to mix up the story.
The Grace's travel to a small Scottish Island to visit their old friends James and Miriam (the naughty vicar and his equally naughty wife).... its a fun look at religion and perspective - but its an even better naughty erotic story.
Second in this series, it stands quite happily alone. Another very naughty exploit with Vicar James Redders [LaRouge], his wife Miriam, and their friends Jackie and Roger who come to visit. In between some very wild sex scenes, there is an intriguing story. A remote Scottish island, with new age pagans, puritan crazies, a Satanic Baron and a vicar struggling to improve his congregation. I couldn't put this book down once I started, and will never look at grapes quite the same way again. What a wild romp. Very well written.
