In Wolverine States, Eva H.D explores themes of loss, mortality, and the distance between the private self and the social constructions we all have to conform to. This is lyrical poetry that is as beautiful as it is angry, bracing in the sharpness of its observations. Her characteristic lines are musical and a pleasure to read aloud. They are fast-paced, with ideas and images ricocheting through the poem before hitting their target.
3 STARS ( not actually rating because I don’t want it to effect the rating of the book).
I’m afraid it was a bit too abstract for me. Eva H.D is incredibly talented so my rating only reflects my own understanding of her poems and not her work.
