Experiencing Healing Prayer: How God Turns Our Hurts into Wholeness

Rate this book
One restless night Rick Richardson was disturbed throughout his sleep by an image of a man coming at him with a knife. Taking that image seriously set Rick on a profound journey of healing and prayer around issues of masculinity and relationships. Sometimes we feel spiritually numb, find ourselves emotionally dependent, struggle with addictive behavior, or see a trail of broken relationships behind us. These can be signs that we are in need of God's healing touch in our lives through prayer--prayer that we can learn and practice in community. In this biblical and very human book, Richardson walks us through the steps we need to receive this gift of healing from God as well as to begin praying for others in their pain.

Great book. I actually did the exercises, and it helped me to grow in faith and really to deepen my walk with God. It is so practical and so focused on your relationship with God! I piicked up the book thinking it would help me to get involved with "Faith-healing" but instead this book taught me about healing in all of its dimensions and not just the "Im sick or diseased" healing...but much deeper ..the healing we need from God! This book actually shocked me at how good it was! Highly recommend it to pastors leading congregations to help implement and to people seeking to grow deeper in relationship with God!

This is an area that I haven't explored a lot. The book covers a lot on how to address the root causes of pain and suffering, in particular emotional pains that affect how we live and informs our view of ourselves.
I also like how Rick helps us see the evangelistic nature of healing. One of the best chapters is the chapter on potential problems in healing ministries.
