Roadmap to Your Heart #2

The Deepest Blue

Rate this book
Lee exchanges skyline for swampland in the next book of her male/male romance series, Roadmap to Your Heart.

Rugged and conventional Callum Montgomery enjoys running Shady Pines hunting preserve, except for the secret that's eating him alive. When his sister brings a date for a family wedding, he can't stand the arrogant city slicker with the stick up his perfectly fine ass. He doesn't understand his draw to Dean, who pushes his buttons at every turn, but he'd never dream of betraying his sibling over some lust fueled fantasy.

Handsome and conscientious Dean Abbott is a research assistant in his university's biology lab. When his roommate, Cassie, begs him to be her pretend date in front of her meddling family, he begrudgingly agrees to help. He doesn't anticipate being enchanted by the countryside, the colorful cast of characters, or her sexy and brooding straight brother.

When contempt turns to passion and leads to stolen moments in a sugar cane field, Callum can't help longing for the kind of connection he believes he can never have. But not even the world's most heart-melting kiss can bridge the vast philosophical differences between the men.

Dean's return to his urban lifestyle leaves him restless, his mind continually wandering to the charming setting that spoke to something missing deep inside him. Because you can take the city boy out of the country but you can't make him forget the intriguing man he left behind.

Here's the reading order of this series (five books):

THE DARKEST FLAME
THE FAINTEST SPARK
THE DEEPEST BLUE

*** 4 Stars for the sexy City Boy and Country Boy***

This is lovely M/M romance about 2 men who are complete opposites being attracted to each other.

Dean is openly Gay,a bit geeky and just adorable. He is really into science and is finishing a Master's program in Biology. His roommate and best friend,Cassie has to attend a family wedding and as her family are trying to match make her with a man from her home town asks Dean to attend the wedding with her as her 'boyfriend'.

Callum is Cassies's older brother. He helps run his family's Hunting Preserve. He is in the closet with his family.
When Callum and Dean meet, sparks fly.Callum thinks Dean is a bit condescending and pushes his buttons any chance he gets.
The attraction between them is pretty instant but Callum is conflicted....after all,it's his sister's boyfriend so he thinks.
They both skirt around each other until they share a passionate kiss which sees Callum running to the hills..
When Dean eventually tells Callum the truth they begin a beautiful, tentative relationship of sorts.

This is a slow burner on the hottness side but for once the dirty girl in me didn't mind.
I really felt for Callum. You could feel his inner turmoil at the thought of coming out to his family, especially his father.I read a lot of M/M books but this one really made me understand how difficult it must be for some people to admit to being Gay to their families.

I loved Callum's family but the one character who stole the show, for me,was Callum's younger brother Billie....he was such a sweetheart and I loved how Dean bonded with him.

A recommended M/M read....

Another really good "opposites attract" story. I seem to read a lot of those lately. I really liked the first book in this series and I hoped this one would be good too. Even though both books are completely different from one another, I loved both. I really like it when an author does that.

So about the story....city and country collide ;)

669da4282688c2c551ca5fe57d89b93f.jpg (452×585):

Dean is an out and proud, geeky collegeboy. He is also Cassie's roommate.

glasses:

When Cassie asks him to accompany her, to a family wedding at home and act as her fake date, Dean has no problems helping her out. He just wasn't prepared to meet the hot brother.

e4b7036c28fc035885605c02c8a202fd.jpg (491×750):

Callum is a closeted, hard working countryboy. Nobody knows he is gay, except for his occasional hook-ups. Not even Cassie. Callum is too worried about his family and the bussiness to come out. But he can't help but feel extremely attracted to his sister's date. He tries to hide his attraction behind snarky remarks.

Both don't know the other is gay....that is untill they share a very sweet kiss. This is followed by another sweet kiss and so much more....with an albino peacock watching them...lol

Say hi to Gus ;)

 photo albino-peacock-yvonne-ayoub_zpsolrhbecv.jpg

Callum is affraid family bussiness will go down, when he comes out, but he also doesn't want to t hide this part of himself any longer. So he comes out to his sister first. After this, he will have to face the rest of his family.

This book was a nice slow burn with some awesome sexual tension. I loved these boys together. I think the first book was a bit steamier, but I didn't really mind, since there were still some panty-dropping scenes in this one ;)

The book is very low on angst. Most of the angst is centered about Callums coming out, but I have to say...I loved his family. Especially Granny and Billie. We don't really get to read about Deans family.

I really enjoyed this one and I hope there will be another book in this series.

4 stars from me :)

After reading a novel featuring violence and cruelty, I appreciated the simplicity of this book, which is almost entirely relationship and family focused.

Sexy, low angst, and tender, The Deepest Blue is an easy read.

The story, monotonous initially, what with the MCs bickering and obsessing over each other for several chapters, picked up after the first passionate kiss.

I absolutely loved Billie, Callum's younger brother. I liked his entire family, but Billie is amazing. Cassie is a pretty great sister and friend, too.

I just wish the ending had been less abrupt. I was so disappointed that we didn't get an epilogue.

In book #1, The Darkest Flame, Felix--from the Disciples of the Road--mentions a brother at the university. This is his story and is completely an adult standalone.

Dean and Callum's book is essentially city boy meets country boy. The majority of the story takes place on a hunting preserve, where their stark differences are a constant source of irritation. *WINK*

Here's a little teaser:

I love these boys so hard! Hope you do too. :-)

What should've been an easy, relaxing weekend getaway in the wild country, turns into the unexpected for two very different men.

As a favor to his best friend Cassie, Dean agrees to be her date so she doesn’t have to fend off familial pressure to get hitched. Academic, citified, and a bit out of his element, Dean’s basic principles immediately clashes with Cassie’s older brother Callum, who runs the family’s hunting preserve. Dean never expected to be entranced by the raw natural beauty he’s confronted with, let alone the rugged, gruff man who steadfastedly defends his way of living.

Callum has been hiding who he is for years, as the responsibility for keeping his family’s business in the black weighs heavily, fearing that coming out will jeopardize revenue in and from his small town life. He’s conflicted and horrified that’s he’s drawn to a man that infuriates so, let alone is his sister’s boyfriend.

Eventually the truth comes out, and preconceived notions on both sides need to be broken down, as these two try to fight and ultimately lose the battle with their attraction. Can they reconcile their differences in order to have a future together?

This was more enjoyable for me than the first in the series, being quite low on the angst with a very nice dose of sexy. But again, like the first, this was just a bit off in the connection to the characters that I can’t quite pinpoint, despite excellent writing, flow, and progression. Many other readers and my GR friends loved this, so regardless, these two were quite the hot, swoony pair when they weren't being antagonistic. In addition, the side characters added to the enjoyment of this immensely, and I look forward to reading the rest of this series, especially since that includes younger brother Billy :)

This was a sweet city/ county read .. Dean who comes to the country to support his best friend and partner her at a local wedding - problem being no one knew Dean was gay. Dean falls for Callum, the closeted awesome big brother and the story begins. Callum is gentle, caring and preparing to give up what he really wants so that he can support his family - forget about love, it's not in the stars. This is the journey of Dean & Callum and how they managed distance, time and people. Very cute 😊

I found myself pleasantly surprised by this sequel to The Darkest Flame. The first book in this series was entertaining, and if memory serves, it was also super-hot, but this story was so much more than a sexy M/M romp. Here, Lee created some truly lovable characters and a story that expertly pulled at my heart-strings.

Dean Abbott is smart, passionate in his beliefs and openly gay. He is finishing his master's degree in something science-y - don't ask me what, it went over my head - but before he commences his final summer of classes, he agrees to play fake-boyfriend for his roommate and best-friend, Cassie, and travels with her to her family home for a wedding.

Cassie Montgomery hails from Florida, where she grew up on the Shady Pines hunting preserve, which has been run by her family for close to a hundred years. As the only female in the youngest generation of Montgomery's, Cassie has always been expected to marry a guy from the property bordering Shady Pines, essentially in the hopes of binding the two families and providing a merger of businesses. The problem has always been that Cassie simply isn't interested - enter fake-boyfriend, Dean.

When Cassie and Dean arrive at Shady Pines, Dean meets gorgeous and gruff Callum, one of Cassie's older brothers. Dean and Callum immediately butt-heads, but there is something in the way Callum seems to purposefully rile Dean up that gets under Dean's skin, not to mention the heated looks he keeps receiving from the surly man when he thinks no one is looking.

Callum Montgomery knows he's in trouble the moment he meets Cassie's new boyfriend. Dean might just be the most gorgeous man Callum has ever laid eyes on, which is really a problem considering Dean is dating Callum's sister and Callum has resigned himself to a life in the closet for the sake of his family's happiness. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Callum can't seem to keep away from the man who has the bluest eyes he's ever seen.

I found myself falling for Callum more and more as the story progressed. His situation and his fears really touched me, especially his unwavering loyalty to his family and his continued effort to make their business thrive, regardless of what it meant (or he felt it meant) he had to give up in return. I loved the way he came to life once he met Dean and began questioning the possibilities for a different, fuller life for himself. The caustic initial interactions between Callum and Dean lead to some seriously sweat and sexy later interactions. Their chemistry was scorching and their passion for one another was sigh-inducing. And that ending? So good!

I also immensely enjoyed the secondary characters in this story, particularly the Montgomery clan, with a special adoration for Grammy (Cassie and Callum's grandmother) and Billie (their little brother). The extensive cast brought this story to life and I couldn't help but fall in love a little with each of them in turn.

This sequel has made me really excited to read further in this series - especially Billie's short story from last year's It Was Always You, which I skipped over initially, wanting to wait until I'd read his introduction here.

This was a truly great start to my reading year! So it begins...

This can be read as a stand-alone

This was quite a surprise. There was so much potential for angst in this one and for the first 30% I was convinced the story would go there. But no! This was deliciously angst free!

Dean gets asked by his roommate Cassie to come to her family’s farm with him as a date to her cousin’s wedding. Dean has no problem pretending to be straight for only a short visit and helping Cassie fending of an unwanted admirer.

But the one thing he hadn’t counted on was Cassie attractive brother, Callum. Callum and Dean are attracted to each other from the start, but both try to hide this.

Callum is deeply in the closet because he fears for his family’s business and he doesn’t want to leave his 15 year old brother alone by moving away. So he is extremely on edge when he notices himself falling for the city boy. And his sister’s boyfriend no less!

But of course they cannot stay apart when their chemistry is this explosive..

I loved these guys! At first I was a bit bored and had a feeling this would be all push and pull between them. But no, these guys were incredibly sweet together and I loved how they talked about stuff instead of keeping secrets.

And the sexy times, oh man!! They were explosive together!

So if you’re looking for a low angst, sweet, but sexy story, you should pick this.

Man that whirl wind of a wrap up...

Mostly I was bored, kept checking on other stuff, emails (I'm off until the 4th so why am I checking my work emails), pinterest (gotta find some Christmas cocktails), went to lunch with a friend...so yeah. Basically it just wasn't anything new and I'd read the story done better.

Sorry...others loved it so you should probably read their reviews.

Callum and Dean two opposite The country boy and the city boy.
Didn't understand each other until they did.
Not much drama. A sweet surrounding, they grow to each other. When they are apart again there hearts hurt because of the distance they will never be together. Then they are together again just for a few days. Their connection is only getting stronger.
Sweet loving story.

Meh it was OKAY

This was a sweet ride, but it lacked substance and I will explain what I mean by this. My reservations go something like this:

1. Insta-love is an insta-no for me, so I would say this was my problem with this novel. Like they only were "together" for like 2 weeks but by the end of the book they were proclaiming their undying affection for one another. That is why I do not read insta-love, the romance feels fake and doctored just to try and manipulate my emotions, YEAH THAT DOESN"T WORK ON ME. I need to be able to UNDERSTAND and SEE why you love each other. It also doesn't help that these characters were just kind of blah. Callum constantly felt insecure for being "country" and "redneck", almost as if he had a chip on his shoulder. And Dean was kind of a know it all sometimes.

2. And I'm sorry to sound a little bit boujie but....... I would NEVER move to the country for a man. Like ME and the SOUTH, just doesn't go together. I like vast urban jungles with a range of diverse opinions and cultures and people. Like I'm not trying to be in conservative hick-town, they already don't like gays, which is a NO for me. I don't like country music and I don't particularly like southern food so couple that with a bunch of meh characters and no real passion, yeah I just couldn't picture myself in that relationship. And that is the reason why we read these romance novels. To feel like we are the ones being swept off our feet, being caught in the PASSION. And because I have never had a boyfriend I like to live my romance life through these novels, however pathetically :D. AND I HAVE BEEN TO GAINESVILLE, so the fact that Ms. Lee described it as a "bigger city" than Roscoe TURNED ME OFF. Because I thought there wasn't anything more boring than Gainesville. BUT I will say this, I LOVED TRUE BLOOD, so maybe add a bunch of sexy possessive gay vampires to Roscoe an THEN you got me hooked!

All in all, maybe if I was a true country bumpkin or if they had more passion and realness to them I would've liked this novel more. But I'm not and it didn't so I would recommend if you want a bland romance, but if not, skip it.

4.5 Stars ~ Clap your Hands to Keep the Rattlesnakes Away!!

Lee exchanges skyline for swampland in the next book of her male/male romance series, Roadmap to Your Heart.

Rugged and conventional Callum Montgomery enjoys running Shady Pines hunting preserve, except for the secret that’s eating him alive. When his sister brings a date for a family wedding, he can’t stand the arrogant city slicker with the stick up his perfectly fine ass. He doesn’t understand his draw to Dean, who pushes his buttons at every turn, but he’d never dream of betraying his sibling over some lust fueled fantasy.

This is my first book by this author and I have to say I was really impressed. I went back to buy the first book in this series because I just love her writing style and overall feel to the books.

In this story we have two MC who are from different walks of life. However, as circumstances bring them together they realize that while they may live in different geographical locations, they have a lot in common and they have some really strong feelings brewing between them.. now they have to decide what they are going to do about it.

Dean is a graduate student and agrees to travel to his roommates, Cassie, hometown for a family wedding. He will be acting as his roommates date at this wedding so she doesn't have to deal with family pressure of dating a local man so the family can merge business/land. No problem right, I mean what could go wrong with a gay city man pretending to be a date at a family wedding on an active wildlife preserve? In and out and never see them again, right?

Callum, is Cassie's older brother. He is a country boy and proud of it. He has kept his family afloat by running the family business and upgrading certain areas to keep with the new age. He lives at home, on the wildlife preserve his family owns. He has never had an issue with privacy or doing what he likes. He has always been very private. It isn't until his sister, Callie, Brings home her date, Dean, for a family wedding that Callum realizes something has to give. He is attracted to Dean. He wants Dean. He is pretty sure Dean wants him. How can that be though, Dean is dating his sister. He can't act on these feelings anyways, nobody can know he is gay.

As Dean and Callum cat and mouse around each other the sexual tension rises. It is only a matter of time before something has to give but who will be the one who can't hold off anymore and gives into to these urges?

I loved how Christina Lee set this story up. It is not a new scenario however she really develops these characters and allows them time to get to know each other. It is a good slow burn story with a happily ever after for all.. what more could you want? I also can appreciate the supporting characters in this story and how the author fully develops them as well, they are not simply fillers but real characters who interact and add to the main characters overall plot.

I highly recommend this story.

**** This splendid story by Christina Lee will capture tour attention and you'll be enthralled. **** What a gem !
Dean's roommate, Cassie needs him to go along as her date to a family wedding.
Dean, dark hair, glasses and "the deepest blue" eyes

is nearly finished with his Masters degree, so he tags along.
Cassie's oldest brother, Callum,

is a big, muscled, Ginger, who runs the family farm/property, Shelby Pines Preserve.

The two men clash at first, but much is happening with the farm, the wedding preparations, and the amazing family members we get to know. There is a tour of the area, some fun, Dean's morning runs, and so much more. The banter is real and natural, and the peek we get that explains each character is marvelously written.

SO WELL DONE ! We get terrific and telling thoughts, people's puzzles solved, with understanding and acceptance, angst and fears, anticipation and eventually very sexy times with Dean and Callum.

OMG, I thought my Kindle would catch fire ! LOL !

I loved every single page. It's "unputdownable."
I cried big alligator tears after Dean showed up on Callums doorstep.

I LOVED IT !
Highly recommended. ENJOY !

Be still my ovaries. They really shouldn’t be making noise at all AND YET, they don’t care. Callum and Dean made them throb and scream and beg to be invited into their inner circle. They are ADORABLE together. I may have a thing for m/m books. pshhhh. whatevs.

The basic premise is simple: Dean agrees to be his BFF’s date to her cousin’s wedding so that they stop bugging her about marrying a certain ex who would serve to expand their family’s land. When Dean shows up and runs into Callum they banter back and forth like they’ve been married for years.

Except that Callum isn’t out. He’s never been out. And he’s not sure he can be without putting his family’s business in jeopardy. But he feels a pull to Dean that he’s never felt with anyone before – the crazy part is that for a good portion of this book neither of them know that the other is available or interested…and YET you could feel the intensity with every glance and slight touch.

A little angsty but with so much more love, Lee develops deep characters with deeper feelings. I genuinely liked each guy and I LOVED when they decided that they liked each other too. If you need to satisfy your craving for love, romance, and multiple dicks – Christina Lee is your girl and The Deepest Blue is your cure.

What a pleasure this novel was ~sign~ I loved pretty much everyone! and especially the surrounding of the retreat owned by the Montgromerys. There is actually no real connection between this one and the previous installment. There was a little mention of Dean's relative who is part of the "Disciples of the Road" MC club but besides a mention and a phone conversation this story is totally and absolutely a stand alone novel.

Dean and Cassie are best friends, not only that, they are roommates. When Cassie needs to return home to a cousin's wedding she asks Dean to accompany her. Cassie explains to her openly gay best friends she doesn't want her family to get "in her business" about her relationship situation (especially since they have someone specific in mind that she is NOT interested in). Dean accepts though he isn't sure how a vegetarian city boy like himself would get along with Cassie's hunter family and not to mention the rural area in which they live in. Yep, it was funny (in a kind of scary way, for me at least..) that first thing he stumbles upon his arrival is the family dealing with a "stray snake".

The last thing Dean expected was to be attracted to one of Cassie's brothers, not only just one of the brothers but the one who is most annoyed with his personal beliefs. Yet Callum isn't simply "mad at Dean" he is SO into him and yet he has been so closeted no one in his family or friends know he is gay which makes him even more crazy in this situation. Lusting over his sister's date isn't a very good idea as it is. The story is told from both Dean and Callum's POV which was a pure joy to read. I felt as though I got the whole story - both Dean and Callum's story, inner struggles and naturally the attraction to relationship buildup. I can't even say who I like best from the two of them. They fit together wonderfully it was just them finding a way to be together. At first it was admitting to one another the more obvious truths - He and Cassie are NOT a couple, and the both of them are gay.. even though Callum's situation is problematic with his family not knowing about him.. Then when they start to build something together there are decisions to be made.. Callum dating his sister's best friend while keeping it a secret from her doesn't sit well with him, and yet there's the big question what happens "the day after", when Dean returns home. Callum cannot leave his family's estate because of too many reasons to count and Dean is a city boy, finishing his Master degree in one semester then planning on staying and working for one of his professors..

I loved the way it was resolved, I had a different solution in mind the whole time, but frankly, I'm not sure if I would have liked the story to conclude that way, it would have been too "perfect", or not realistic enough.. as it was, I loved that it felt like a real genuine possibility, also enabling them to really build their relationship. I'm trying not to spoiler.. that's why I'm being so vague..

Besides the main couple getting together there is a LOT happening with Cassie's family members, herself included. Cassie's younger brother Billie is suffering from epilepsy and has a guiding dog. He and Dean connect right from the start, I loved that. Also the relationship between the guys in the family to their grandmother was endearing. She took her role as a "grandmother + mother" when Cassie's mother died on Billie's birth and while she can be strict, she is so loving and understanding.

Such a beautiful story and sweet romance. I loved every bit of it. I gotta say, Christina's last two novels weren't my favorites, it was mostly because THIS is what I love best - a romantic journey. Yeah I read Suspense at times, and naturally I do read Paranormal Romance but this kind of romance is what truly captures my heart. Christina's "Between Breaths" series was exactly that and this is what I expected from her adult novels to be like, which is why I was a bit disappointed with the last two - I didn't get the more mature version of her previous way of portraying a HEA. I hope the next in the series are going to be more like this one (less about the MC club which is a a sub-genre I don't find appealing)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. For me it had everything, a touching love story, a family worth having and cherishing, strong friendships and acceptance.

Also it was the best kind of story to read on my half work / half relaxing vocation I'm currently on.

I kindly received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

4 years since I’ve read this one and it didn’t wow me like it did before. It was a simple story, that’s been told many time’s before in varying ways. Fake date, country wedding, closeted brother, rushed ending etc... Enjoyable and easy to read but not something I’ll read again.

This is a lovely romance where opposites attract.
Great sexual tension in the beginning before the truths are revealed. These two guys are so good together and hot hot hot. I liked that it wasn't instalove. These guys take their time and their relationship evolves over some months and separations before they can finally be together. I only wish it was longer because I wasn't ready for it to end.

We are far from the MC with Felix's brother Dean and his best friend/roommate's brother Callum.
It was a great change of scenery from motorcycles, drugs and guns to peacocks, deers and sugar canes.
Reall loved it. And I'm madly curious about Billie's story right now.

The second story in the Roadmap To Your Heart series is aptly named, as Dean takes a trip to the Florida swampland at the request of his best friend and roommate Cassie. She needs a date to get her meddling family (and her ex boyfriend neighbour) off her back at her cousin's wedding, and Dean is excited to see his roommate's roots. What he doesn't count on is the feelings he experiences when meeting her serious, sexy, red-haired older brother Callum. Believing Callum is straight makes it hard but not impossible for Dean to tamp down his sudden attraction to him. But finding out he's not so straight after all ( an adjustment Callum is still making that for business and personal reasons he's kept secret) tempts Dean beyond his expectations. Suddenly, the country life is looking awfully good. When it's time for Dean to head back, will he be leaving a piece of his heart behind? And will Callum be willing to let him go now that's he's finally ready to come clean?

What a unique setting! I've never read a story set on a game preserve in the heart of the Florida swampland before (complete with alligators and the like). I wasn't sure at first how I felt about it (though it grew on me). Which is pretty much how Dean feels too, so I could definitely relate to his character. He's from the city, and there is no doubt that at first it's easy to stereotype Callum as a redneck (even though he has never felt that way about Cassie). But Callum, who first plays up to that stereotype just to get a rise out of Dean, is quick to show that he's really a very intelligent and thoughtful man. He's somewhat reserved (due to the necessity of keeping his sexual orientation under wraps) but a caring person who is deeply attached to his family. As a teenager he pushed Cassie away due to his own feelings of confusion, fearing that his family wouldn't accept him not being straight. And even now, it's a strong concern for him as he worries about the effect coming out would have on their business. But Dean is able to get past those barriers. Though at first they dance around each other so to speak, when in private, a moment comes when neither of them is willing to walk away, and it's in that moment that Callum discovers that while Dean might be 'dating' his sister, it's really just a front for the sake of their family. And when Dean breaks down and reveals the truth, Callum returns the favour and they agree that while Dean is out with the family, they will spend as much time together privately as they can. The result is some steamy , sultry love scenes as the two connect on an intimate level.

Cassie's family makes up the bulk of the secondary characters including her father, her grandmother, and her brother Billie, a teenage epileptic, who is a sweet and lovable young man whom Dean connects with as well. Callum's responsibilities to his younger brother, and to the livelihood of their family business weigh heavily on him, and make him feel as though his personal choices will always come second. Dean makes Callum realize that staying in the closet does no one any favours, least of all himself, and I was glad to see him getting the courage to finally reveal to Cassie why he'd driven her away, and start to take charge of his own happiness again. Which isn't to say that he hasn't been happy, just that there's always been a gaping hole in his life, one that Dean is rapidly filling. I really liked how the two of them seemed at first to be so opposite but in fact found a lot of common ground over the course of the story. We get some city scenes as well to go with the country life, and some amusing encounters with Dean's friends in the gay community. The conflict is fairly predictable but well written, and the happy ending that comes along eventually is worth the wait. With some lighthearted moments, fairly low angst and a sweet and sexy romance, it's a worthy addition to the series. 4 stars.

Christina Lee cannot write poorly. This is, once again, such a fantastic love story! Please, if you think you may not like M/M, at least give this one a shot. It is romantic and funny and a little bit angsty. All good qualities for a romance novel. It just happens to take place between two men.
Dean and Cassie are roommates and best friends. She begs him to come home with her as her guest for her cousins wedding. What the family doesn’t know is that Dean is gay. What Dean doesn’t know, is that Cassie’s hot brother, Callum, is also gay.

I loved all the family dynamics in this story. Cassie’s family are southern farmers. Dean comes from very upper middle class white collar workers. It would seem the two would have nothing in common. The heart wants what the heart wants! It doesn’t take Callum long to figure Dean out. The rest of Cassie’s family has some pretty good perception as well. What ensues is a lot of stolen glances and sneaky kisses.

The secondary characters are a perfect compliment to this story. As I said, all those family dynamics come into play. I really hope the author jumps ahead in time and we get to see more of brother Billie.
Of course Ms. Lee can write some steamy scenes as well. There is a whole lot going on in the pantry at Cassie’s house. I may never look at mine the same! Also, a scene at the edge of the woods in the moonlight with “Gus” that amped up all the feels between Dean and Callum.

This is a stand-alone novel written in alternating POV. I am a big fan of this author and cannot wait to see what she brings us next.

Hm, the main storyline in this sequel felt to empty and bland. Sure I liked both MC, Dean and Callum, but this farce of Callum's sister to bring Dean home as her new boyfriend, was just to pathetic. I simply couldn't enjoy Dean's and Callum's romance from that point on. Just blah....
