"We were hosting a Christmas-themed Battle of the Bands competition, and I was stuck catering to the needs of all the musicians, as well as our three celebrity judges. I use the term "celebrity" loosely. We'd booked a local radio personality, a popular local music blogger and critic, and the owner of one of the city's other rock venues....."

Bronwyn Sinclair is filling in while her boss, Amelia Grace, is out of town. She's trying to get a music festival up and running for a "Christmas in July" at their Castle Rock venue in Atlanta. They're having a Battle of The Bands competition when someone tries to take out a judge.

Bronwyn is strong willed and on top of things and is not about to let someone get away with messing things up. A couple surprises and some cute humor throughout. Can she find out who, what and where in time to save the music festival and possibly the future of Castle Rock's business? You'll have to pick this one up and find out!

This is a holiday short story to go with the "Amelia Grace Rock n' Roll Mysteries" that feature the Castle Rock venue. This is a standalone but would be fun to read the rest in the series. I really liked the tattooed, purple and pink haired, pierced characters featured here. They were fun and interesting. Kick off your festivities with this entertaining Christmas story this holiday season!

Thank you to Gemma Halliday Publishing for the A.R.C.

Very short. I liked that it took place in the summer.

Weed and spit

The character gets caught with drugs at work and admits to spitting into someone's drink while she is bartending at a company function. She admits this, to a co-worker who is also a cop's daughter and there are no consequences at all? Keeps her job and gives her recipe for the drink at end of the book? No thank you.

I don't normally read holiday mysteries in the summer, but this one definitely works since it was a Christmas in July Battle of the Bands. I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but this was a fun little novella that packed a lot in even though it was short.

Short Story

It is alright. Not the best written mystery, and no murder to solve. I was disappointed. This is not the worst.

I didn't think I was going to enjoy this one at all from the beginning, but the quirky word play brought me around.

A discovery of mistletoe in a drink of one of the judges leads Brownyn on the trail of a bad guy.

This is the first book I have read in the Amelia Grace series. (Of course, it is the most recent book. I never seem to start at the beginning in any multi-book series.) I thought it was a good novella. I have read many novellas and I think it is hard to get a complete mystery in such a small package but this author managed to do it. Reading this makes me want to read the other books in the series. I suggest you do too. It is such a fun ride.

Bronwyn Sinclair is taking over for her boss while she is away touring with her band. The venue called Castle Rock is doing a Christmas in July Battle of the Bands. The story follows the crazy antics of the poisoning of a judge and how Brownwyn solves the crime while the bands plays on behind the scenes playing Christmas carols.

Sleighed At Castle Rock (An Amelia Grace Rock ’n’ Roll Mysteries short story) — Anne Marie Stoddard (9 chapters + recipe at end) Jan. 7, 2016

Note: was originally read as part of a collection of holiday cozy mysteries called: “Cozy Christmas Shorts: holiday short story collection”.

One of the better holiday-themed stories I have read in a while, this one actually takes place in July. It involves a Battle of the Bands contest and a drugged judge.

The story was well conceived and the plot lively (and humorous!) enough to keep me both engaged and interested in the plot.

I would definitely read more from this series. There is a good mix of characters and the setting is unique enough that I believe I would really enjoy it. For being a short story, it was complete.

Three stars.

What does Bronwyn think of a Christmas in July music festival in 104 degree Atlanta heat? Bah Humbug! It gets even worse when she finds out she has to wear a costume that makes her look like she has a case of "holiday schizophrenia". Just when she thinks things cannot get any worse one of the judges collapses. This short story is a fun, fast read that can put you in the Christmas spirit.

I love the idea of Christmas in July. What a crazy event! Lots of things can and did go wrong and stuff really out there. The body died but the mess wasn't any fun. The mystery was solved with flare. Metal rock Christmas music means everything to some people. Don't underestimate the level of crazies out there. Recipe included.

Amazing how much can be fit into this short Christmas-themed story. It's Christmas in July at Castle Rock. A band competition turns a lot more exciting than expected. Lots of activity going on in the quick novella.
