CAPTIVATING, RIVETING AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: Lonely is the Knight
Series: Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Romance
Designation: Book Three of Series, Can be read as Standalone, NO cliffhanger but Epilogue sets up first book of next series
Author: Cynthia Luhrs
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
Wow! I'm totally smitten with Cynthia Luhrs and the Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Romance Series! Several days ago I happened upon a free download from Amazon for a time travel romance entitled A Knight to Remember. Well, that got my attention. I adore time travel, completely smitten with medieval English knights, totally enamored with any genre that contains romance and always a sucker for a free read. Admittedly, I'd never heard of Cynthia Luhrs but at the time, it had 56 reviews with the majority of them being positive. I even read the free sample which never includes much but does give me a general feel for the author's overall style and flow. I can generally glean sufficient information from the first few pages, allowing me to make an informed decision about the book. Obviously, I was duly impressed and decided to give Cynthia Luhrs an opportunity to entertain me for a few hours. And that she did! I totally loved it and was absolutely overjoyed to learn that there were two more books already available in the Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Series so I raced back to Amazon to check them out. And blessed be, I couldn't believe my good fortune when I discovered I could purchase the entire series in one convenient collection. Well, I quickly one-clicked and began a most wonderful weekend on an adventure with the remaining two Merriweather sisters. And best decision - EVER! I loved the second and third books even more than the first and now, I'm a Cynthia Luhrs fan for life! In fact, I enjoyed this series so much, I want to share the love so I'm taking the time to leave a review for each of the three books as well as the entire anthology. This review is for Lonely is the Knight, the third full-length release of the Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Trilogy. Personally, I believe each of the books could probably be read as a standalone but why would you want to when you can get all three in one fabulous and very economical collection? However, the author does a fabulous job of giving ample backstory in the second and third books so the reader can easily follow along without confusion. None of the books end in a cliffhanger per se but the author does set up the next story at the end of each book. I found Lonely is the Knight to be imaginative, exciting, fast-paced, easy to follow, exceptionally well-crafted and edited with the perfect blend of danger, drama, adventure, suspense, angst and sweet romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, beautiful, free-spirited, twenty-two-year-old, modern day North Carolinian Charlotte Merriweather, the youngest of the three Merriweather sisters, and devilishly handsome and very charismatic medieval English knight Henry Thornton, Lord of Ravenskirk. Obviously, since the heroine travels almost 700 years into the past to the year 1330, the story also includes historical elements, not much, but enough to be convincing which I thought were well done. Historical romance alone has never been my favorite genre, simply because I'm unfamiliar with the correct use of language and terminology but I was able to easily follow the dialogue which I also found to be well executed, realistic and at times, quite humorous. But without a doubt, my favorite component of this entire series is the fascinating cast of characters. I thought them to be intriguing as well as very engaging. If I'm not drawn into a story by its characters, then it's usually a deal-breaker for me but I found myself immediately liking the feisty, determined, free-spirited Charlotte Merriweather, and completely caught up in her journey to the past. And unlike her middle sister Lucy, the first sibling who traveled to the past quite by happenstance, Charlotte's adventure to the past was completely intentional. Although skeptical at first, Charlotte was now certain that both her sisters were alive and had somehow traveled to the past. I fell head over heels for the handsome, charismatic knight Henry Thornton, one of five brothers and Lord of Ravenskirk, a man who had taken an oath to never marry. But you know what they say, never say never! lol... I felt Charlotte and Henry complemented each other brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed their interaction together. Although this story is classified as a romance, surprisingly, there's very little actual romance, at least the hot and heavy kind. lol... And no sex at all... zip... none...nada. There is a great deal of heated and very obvious mutual attraction and a few steamy kisses between Charlotte and Henry but that's pretty much it. It's just sweet, dreamy romance. Normally, I prefer a little sex to spice things up and was a wee bit disappointed once I realized there was none. Generally, I only read romance that at least includes a little sex but I became so engrossed in the story, I didn't actually notice there were no sex scenes until after I finished the first book of the series and the same held true for the second and third. lol... And what does that tell me? That the author did a fabulous job of entertaining me, and without any sex. Color me impressed! There were a few naughty words and I do mean very few; I could probably count them on maybe three fingers through the entire series. So, yes, I would agree with the author's rating; this book is a safe read for young adults, twelve and older. If you're looking for a riveting time travel/historical saga filled to the brim with danger, drama, adventure, suspense, angst, betrayal, humor and sweet romance with a slight supernatural twist, this is most assuredly the book for you.

Beautiful, tenacious twenty-two-year-old Charlotte Merriweather has now lost her entire family. She'd lost both her parents in an accident when only a child, and Aunt Pittypat, the woman who had raised her and her two sisters, had a heart attack and died the same day Lucy went missing. The authorities claimed Lucy had fallen accidentally to her death along with her wealthy boyfriend Simon Grey and washed out to sea while visiting the ruins of his family's castle in England. The official investigation determined one of the walls of Blackford Castle had crumbled during a terrible storm and the couple had plunged to their deaths with both bodies being swept out to sea by the currents. And now, the same authorities proclaimed the eldest Merriweather sister, Melinda, had been so distraught over Lucy's death, she had committed suicide by driving off a cliff near Falconburg Castle. Hogwash! Complete and utter nonsense! Oh, how she wished she had believed Melinda's claims that Lucy had traveled to the past. She should have gone with Melinda to England to investigate and now it was too late. She had lost them both but not to death. Charlotte is the one now convinced that Lucy and Melinda both have somehow traveled to the past and she's determined to not only find out how, but also to join them. What? She may be the youngest sister but she's also the toughest. She would find a way to travel to the past and she would find Lucy and Melinda. But she would do her research and she would be prepared. Charlotte has always been very good at making plans and preparations, and even better at finding and following clues. And once she sets her mind to something, she always succeeds. After all, there's nothing left for her in Holden Beach, North Carolina. She has no romantic attachments and never plans to have any - ever! There will never be a husband in her future so why not risk it all to find her sisters. But we all know, never say never! lol.. There just may be a handsome knight named Henry Thornton, the Lord of Ravenskirk, waiting in her future, or should I say the past, and he just may love women who look like angels from heaven with sparkly blue toenails, or possibly just one woman in particular! Oh my! Unfortunately, someone wants her dead and has already made two attempts on her life. Can Charlotte survive long enough to unravel the mysteries of time travel and decipher the otherworldly clues thrown into her path to somehow locate her sisters in the past? We'll see!

When rating and reviewing a book, there are several questions I always ask. First, did I like this book? Oh my goodness, yes! I truly enjoyed the first book and loved the second and third even more. Would I recommend it? You bet and I am, and I truly believe it's suitable for ages 12 and over. Will I read this author again? You bet! As soon as I finished her first book, I subscribed to her newsletter so I would be informed of all her future releases. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Once I started reading, I simply could not stop. I read long into the night with the hours passing as quickly as the pages. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Now on to Darkest Knight, the first release in Luhrs' Thornton Brothers Time Travel Romance Series! I can hardly wait to see what Luhrs has in store for us next! So in closing, I will simply say; all three books are currently available in one convenient collection entitled Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Romance Box Set and as of August 15, 2016, on sale for only 99 pennies, but I don't know for how long so you better hurry! Best 99 pennies I ever spent and one decision I'm sure you'll never regret!

** I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review**.

Once I started reading 'Lonely is the Knight' I literally did not stop. I have loved the 'A Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Series' from the first book. It's definitely one of my all time favorites. 'Lonely is the Knight' pulled me in and kept me glued to the pages. The storyline is so full of mystery, romance, a very cool concept and awesome scenarios. The characters were great. I loved Charlotte from the get-go. She's tenacious, stubborn, kind, smart, beautiful and has an amazing sense of humor. She truly cares about others. Henry is a handsome, ok- hot as hell character that is loyal, compassionate and dedicated to his people. Although Charlotte and Henry have each had to overcome their jaded views on love, they surpassed. Even when they were faced with the possibility of total destruction, they both were extremely brave. I loved the storyline and how it played out. Well written and well thought out. I can not wait for the next book. A definite must add to your tbr list. Highly recommended. Cynthia Luhrs has brought forth life, understanding and a very creative edge to her books.

Another fabulous time travel adventure for the Merriweather sisters

Book three of the Merriweather sisters continues a great series!

Charlotte having "lost" her two sisters to mysterious accidents that has the world believing in there deaths believes now more than ever that they are very much alive and somehow have traveled back in time. She carefully prepared for her journey back in time to find her sister's not really sure just how she is to get there.

I don't want to provide spoilers so suffice it to say Charlotte embarks on quite a journey. If you like the time travel genre give this series a read, you won't be disappointed! Cynthia is one of my new favorite finds and I look forward to her next story!

It is rare to find a "clean" romance and this series delivers without all the lurid and evocative scenes. Glad to have found this series!

Charlotte Merriweather doesn't believe that either of her sisters committed suicide no matter what the authorities tell her. Charlotte formulates a plan that will teach her the skills she needs to survive in medieval times and bring along recipes that she cherishes from her Aunt Pittypat to share with her sisters if she finds them. Charlotte is only left with how to go back in time. Henry Thornton is Lord Ravenskirk hoping to keep his vow of never to marry. Henry's sworn enemy is Lord Hallsey keeps trying to take Henry's lands back. Henry finds that he's attracted to Charlotte but remains adamant that he'll keep his vow. Charlotte's life is threaten and Henry will do everything in his power to protect her from harm. Can Henry protect Charlotte? Will Charlotte find her sisters? Does Charlotte have similar feelings for Henry? Find out in Lonely is the Knight.

I'm really loving this series. The characters and story keep your attention from first word to last word. I'll be honest Charlotte is my favorite of the sisters. She's so accepting of everything around her is something that I'd like to emulate in my own life. Definitely read more from this author in the future.

This is the third book of the Merriweather Sisters Time Travel series and I loved it.

The characters are beautifully written and realistic, as is the dialogue.

I really hope this is a long running series as each book can be read as a stand alone but each ties in nicely with the others.

The Thornton brothers certainly are something to look forward to! I can't wait to follow their tale.

I received this book from the author in exhange for an honest review. Thank you - it was my pleasure, as always. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Third Book in series!

Time travel romance is my favorite! This series also has suspense so that made it a double joy to read. All three sisters are sent back in time to the early 1600's. There is a great deal of superstition and fear of witch craft the sisters must overcome, but in the end they not only love the people but are loved in return. Each finds joy in the past as well as love with handsome, brawny Highland Lords. I read all 3 books within 5 days! Excellent time travel stories!! Can't wait to read her newest Time travel series coming in March 2016!!

A good finish to a good series. The present-day story of the last Merriweather sister was a little longer, and added a different twist. Planning ahead for your trip back in time is unusual for this genre, and worked well only because of the first two stories in the series. Read all three!

As they say, the last is not the least.

This book is my favorite in the series. You can't deny the marketing this series have. It's not just marketing, although it helps, but its the author's great creativity and skills. The first book was the tease to have, followed by the second book that's a little mellow and ends with a bang with the third book.

If you don't know which book to read. I recommend you grab this one right now. It would be a miracle if you wouldn't be curious to what happened to the previous sisters or the Thornton brothers.

This book has all of the best adventure and romance. The way these two seamlessly blended gives an amazing feeling of time traveling. All in all, would love to repeat reading this book after I buy the book with the PAST traveling to the FUTURE. *the third series of this time-traveling saga*

Not as good as the first two

I still liked it. It's just not as good as the first 2. And the history is seriously lacking. I like time travel (while not real) to at least be historically accurate. And like too many authors this one doesn't know church history at all. Literally every mention of the church or a priest is completely inaccurate. And if she has the priest falling in love and getting married in a subsequent book I'll likely stop reading her books. At LEAST have respect for the faith of your readers. "Your are a priest forever in the line of Melchizedek." The church in the 1400 was the Catholic Church only 2 Christian churches existed, Catholic and Eastern Orthodox. In England Catholic they were Catholic. A priest who left the church would have been excommunicated and no one would accept them at that time. Darn sure not trust them with making a beverage. And they'd never be able to marry even if laisized or defrocked. They couldn't receive any sacraments. It's annoying that authors can't learn such basic information. It's not changed. Plus the CHURCH never believed in fairies. Ever.

I really like the premise(s) of this/these books but the author needs a new editor. Many times it seems like scenes have been left out. Other times it seems like the author put in one or two sentences out of order. This happens more than once.

However, those "problems" were not enough to stop me from finishing the book. :) And I will probably continue on with the series as I'm a bit intrigued.

This (the third book in the series) deals with Melinda and Lucy's "baby" sister, Charlotte. Charlotte didn't believe her sister, Melinda when Melinda told her that she didn't think Lucy had committed suicide. However, when Melinda also vanished and was considered to have committed suicide, Charlotte began to believe the time-traveling theory that Melinda had told her about. So, Charlotte decides to go back into the past and find her sisters.

Charlotte is a bit more prepared than either of her two sisters were for time-traveling. She stocks up on coins of the period/era and has two gowns made so she wouldn't stand out in odd clothing. However, the way that Charlotte enters the year 1027 is completely different than that of her sisters.

This story was different than the previous two in some ways and yet the same. It was your standard, female meets male romance in the medieval world. The daily life of Charlotte in the 1027 was a bit different than that of her sisters but it all worked.

So, if you can get past the editing need, this was a pretty good book. It's light historical time traveling fiction but enjoyable.

Book 3 of this series follows on with the third sister looking for the first two who travelled back in time. I like that she thinks about the implications of landing in a completely different era and that she prepared as well as she could, hoping to do something completely unknown, with just a leap of faith. The missing picture from the gallery was not explained, nor were several other links across these stories, but mostly, this one was a good read and had a sweet ending. The money she took with her to the past would have been an extraordinary amount for the times, so was a little over the top.
Charlotte also has some knowledge of the past and is frustrated that sickness in nearby villages stops here from searching for her sisters. Henry is a Thornton, and the end of this book neatly sets up for the Thornton brothers' series.
Read the series in order or it will not make sense.

Henry & Charlotte

The third book in the series. A completely different story with even more intriguing events. I’m blown away at the way these stories have linked up. Different events, different men, different lives, yet all the same. Never knowing from one page to the next what to expect. I hate it when you can guess very easily how it will come about. This story doesn’t allow you to so your mesmerised with each twist and turn of the journey. Even how Charlotte got into 1330 was not as you would have expected. If you read book 1 & 2 you understand what I mean. I’ll not give anything away as it would spoil your imagination. Great read. Now to get to book 4. I’m intrigued as to what that one is about and where it will take me.

Don't you just love a good time travel book?

Spoilers....This is my favorite so far. This sister prepared! She had an open mind and learned all she could first. I know that wasn't possible in the first book, ok maybe not in the second. But I like the development of how Charlotte came about as a character. I also love how the sisters are starting to figure things out. I really can't wait to read the next books in the series. I highly recommend these books. They are
captivating read, start to finish.

Fast and furious medieval time travel!

Baby sister Charlotte Kerrie rather finally believes her other sisters aren't dead, just not living in our time and she makes haste to get herself to England in one piece to try to join them in the past! Lord Henry Thornton, confirmed bachelor warrior knight finds her washed up on the shores of his medieval beach property all alone, in scandalous attire, and gets more than he bargains for!

I love time travel. What I enjoyed about this book in the series is that Charlotte came prepared. She realized immediately she was in the past so we didn't have 1/2 the book dedicated to her adjustment. She tried to fit in and didn't use as much idiomatic language as the other two. This was a cute, clean book. There must be another book with John Thornton's tale? I will check on Amazon. 🤔

Time travel romance, the last and third of the Merriweather sisters find romance in the 13th century.
This one has a reluctant titled knight marrying to save the sister and then falling in love while living through a siege on his castle. Cute fluff, but I like the first two in the series more then this one.

This little 3 book series is a wonderful read. Not the meaty substantial books i usually read. The Merriweather sisters and the hero's are quite likeable. There is no sex in these books which sometimes i find i need a bit of hearts and flowers . This series is lighthearted and a joy to read i recommend it especially after reading a dark series

I liked the MCs

I really liked how smart the FMC was to prep for her journey back in time. And the MMC was charming. This series is fun and clean.

The writing isn’t amazing, there’s some non sequiturs and not great transitions, but it’s gotten progressively better with each book, so hopefully that trend continues.

For Every Time There is a Season!

As the seasons start so to does time become disrupted. What a series! Family is everything that binds time together! That is the insight I gained from this series of tales of three modern sisters sent through time to be reunited again across a bridge of events. I gave all three stories a 5 star rating and highly recommend they be read in order.

It was alright

The summery made it sound quite good but the book kind of fell flat. Didn’t like the misunderstanding they had before the wedding it came out of nowhere and seemed pretty pointless because the story is short we didn’t really go into that much depth of the characters so her reaction at that point seemed just annoying and weird. The ending had me confused.

3.5 ⭐️ Charlotte & Henry 🥹 so cute I loved them.
Love how charlotte went looking for her sisters I love their bond.

I know we didn't get a better epilogue because the books are practically connected, but I would have liked at least one of the three sisters and see how they were months or years after. Although im happy cause in the last chapter they were together and catching up.

Great story

I really enjoyed reading the 3 books in this series. It was refreshing to read a book with romance that doesn’t use explicit sex and language. The action was constant and the characters well developed. I will follow this author and read more of her books.
