Larkin's Letters

Rate this book
"I left you something on the nightstand," she said.
"You did? What is it?"
"Just turn over and look," she pleaded.

He turned over to look, hesitantly, not wanting to look away from her. She always seemed to disappear every time he looked away. A manila envelope lay atop the white rustic nightstand and the word "Ryan" that was penned across the front was beckoning him. He glared at the envelope for just a moment before turning back to her. But she was gone.

As Ryan Boone struggles to come to grips with not being able to keep a promise he made to his dying wife, Larkin's Letters propels readers into the mind of Ryan as he struggles with frequent visits from her ghost and a series of letters she leaves behind. Ryan worked hard to become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors, but no matter how busy or famous he became, he always remained loyal to his childhood best friend, Larkin James. When Larkin is diagnosed with leukemia, Ryan sacrifices his career to be by her side and in turn realizes how much he had always loved her. Throughout Larkin's sickness, Ryan promised that he wouldn't let her die alone. But we learn that not all of our promises are within our control.

Yes you read that correctly I'm giving this first time author a 5 star review of her beautifully heartbreaking love story called Larkin's Letters. Why you ask? Because its an absolutely elegantly written story. 10% in and I was already crying.

After a lifetime of being best friends Ryan and Larkin realize they are in love with each other. Not just in love, but the deep life changing, soul soothing love that we all dream of falling in to. They complete each others life.

Larkin has passed away and has left Ryan something to see him through his grief. Letters she has secretly written to him over the two years that she has been battling cancer. Through her letters we relive her struggle with cancer and her fairy tale love affair with Ryan and its undeniably heartbreaking because the whole time you are reading you know that Larkin has passed on and that there will be no growing old together for Ryan and Larkin. Larkin's letters ultimately help to heal Ryan but not before the memories they evoke shred his heart all over again.

Larkin and Ryan's tale is the ultimate love story. Not only are these two the very vision of what love should be they are also the best friends that everyone should try to be or hope to have in their life. One could only pray to have a friend like Larkin or Ryan, and if you are that lucky to have a friend or lover like Larkin or Ryan this book will certainly make you cherish that person more.

This exquisitely written debut novel is one you should not pass up, even with the sadness it makes you feel. You just can't help feeling what Larkin and Ryan feel for each other and the feelings they have at what is happening to them, this novel oozes emotions and that is why it has earned a 5 Star rating from me, when a book can make me feel all the emotions as the characters do, it deserves 5 Stars!

Grab yourself a box of tissues, a nice drink of some type and find your favorite spot to curl up with Larkin's Letters. Oh and since its a debut novel feel free to SPREAD THIS REVIEW AROUND PLEASE :-)

"All I ask is that you give me today so I can prove to you that I'm your tomorrow"

"Time is something we should nurture and care for like it is our child. Time isn't just how it is defined above. It is also, most importantly, the best medicine we could ever have. "

"Time heals what reason cannot."

I've been sitting here, staring at the screen trying to find the words to describe my reading experience with this book. I don't know if it's possible; I don't think words can do it justice. Intense? Heartbreaking? Inspirational? Moving? None can adequately describe the effect this book had on me. I promise to do my best though.

If you have seen the movies A Walk to Remember or P.S. I Love You and enjoyed them, this book is for you. Larkin's Letters is a beautifully written story of love and loss.

Ryan Boone has worked incredibly hard to become a successful actor. He has made a name for himself in the film industry and is currently one of the most sought after actors. He has everything he could have ever wanted; wealth, success, fame, women- you name it. Though their lives are worlds apart, he has never once forgotten his best friend, his lullabye; Larkin.

Larkin is a nurse at a hospital, but her true passion has always been writing. Her husband, Chris, doesn't understand her dreams of becoming a published author and sees it more as a hobby than anything. The only one who understands her and supports her is Ryan. Late at night when Ryan can't sleep, he will call Larkin and she will read the manuscript she has been working on until he is able to sleep. He could be on the other side of the world, but it doesn't matter. No matter what, Larkin is always there to answer the phone. They're bond is like no other. It is unbreakable. They are, and always will be there for each other.

When Larkin finds out that she has been diagnosed with leukemia, she knows that her life will never be the same. Some things happen for a reason, and maybe there is a light at the end of this grim tunnel. Her relationship with Ryan grows stronger as she becomes weaker. He becomes her strength when she can't stand. He gives her reason to fight this horrifying battle because she knows she won't ever have to fight alone.

This story is written through Ryan's eyes as he discovers letters that
Larkin had written to him during their time together. Through these letters, we are able to go back in time and see things from Larkin's point of view from the time she was diagnosed, leading until she took her last breath.

"All I ask is that you give me today so I can prove to you that I'm your tomorrow."

They say that when you stare into the eyes of death, you finally learn to appreciate and respect the life you have been given. Larkin made me see that. Our time here on Earth is a gift that should never be taken for granted. Our tomorrows are never guaranteed, so live today like it is your last.

Larkin’s Letters

Jax Jillian

5 stars and lots of crying

I don’t really know how to review this book. Its was personal for me in the sense that I watched my 14 year old nephew diagnosed with Leukemia, fight for 3.5 years and come out on top. He has a love that stood by him the entire time he was fighting; his story has a happy ending. Soon to be 18 he is living his life to the fullest; beating the odds. So, on that note I will do my best to put what I felt while reading this into words for you.

This book will break you in every single way possible. I don’t know where this wonderful author found the words; if it was from a real story in their own life but the other part that will rip you before you even begin the story is that she dedicates her book to her baby son Ryan. Go ahead just start crying now.

So …. here goes … Larkin and Ryan were best friends since childhood. (Again just like my nephew and is love.) They never lost touch even taking different roads to their future. There was never a a time they weren’t checking in, making time or cherishing what their friendship meant. Finally that friendship turned into love.

As Leukemia does working its evil and poison unknowingly into your body, Larkin becomes ill. Life crumbles – again personally I know that feeling. I know how it feels to get that phone call. (Tears). Scared of the unknown and what fight lies ahead, Ryan sacrifices everything to be with Larkin and friendship becomes a love so deep that the heavens are enough to describe it.

From this point on you might as well just let your heart fall out of your chest. The letters … there are no words to describe them. None. The last two will crush you yet put you back together. This story should open your soul to something exquisite. Take your time with this book. Read the letters over and over until you absorb every word.

Just click it … that’s all I can say. Thank you Jax for sending this book; I can never repay you for something you gave me but had no idea you were giving. Thanks to Tracy (my girl – Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets) for giving me the honor of review this book for her wonderful blog.

Favorite Quotes:

“It had taken a tragedy to make him realize that he not only wanted to show her his world, but in fact, he had wanted to be her world.”

“Larkin, all I ask is that you give me today so I can prove to you that I am your tomorrow.”

“In your letters, you often ask me why I was so good to you. Larkin, all I did was love you.”

My Review:

Books rarely make me cry and seldom cause me to even tear up. I have read the same books that other reviewers claimed they cried the whole way through, that had not affected me at all... I actually have had the disturbing thought that I may have tipped over into the realm of the dark hearted and completely jaded. This issue is no longer a concern, as I was frequently moved to tears by this poignant and beautifully crafted love story. Although I don’t want to give the impression the book is depressing, it is not. It is extremely touching, expertly crafted, and meticulously edited. I frequently had a large lump in my throat, a tightness in my chest, and also noticed I needed to blink away a strange fluid in my eyes on numerous occasions. Then, it happened… I had to stop - more than a few times - to catch my breath until the sobbing passed. My precious little husband was extremely alarmed. It was an extraordinary experience. Congratulations Ms. Jillian, you have warmed my cold heart. I adored the story and truly loved the ending, it was very clever and unique. Ingenious even. I so hope that is how heaven actually works, as if I would have any chance of gaining entrance…

I'm not even quite sure where to begin with this book. I know I can say this without a doubt, if you don't cry when reading this book then you have absolutely no humanity. This book really hit home with me because I had a good friend who passed away from cancer shortly after I finished reading this book. It was so very difficult to put myself in his wife's place, having to mourn, and finding a way to move forward in life without him. Granted, they had two kids together so she really didn't have any other choice. She had to keep going and being strong for her boys. However, no matter how strong you are, you always need those around you to lift you up when you stumble and fall.

Ryan Boone has worked incredibly hard to become a successful actor. He has made a name for himself in the film industry and is currently one of the most sought after actors. He has everything he could have ever wanted; wealth, success, fame, women- you name it. Though their lives are worlds apart, he has never once forgotten his best friend, his lullabye; his Larkin.

"Do you think time can be timeless? Probably anyone you ask would say no. I would have said the same thing. But these past couple of months, I have tried my hardest to turn that answer to the question into a yes. After all, love can be loveless. Sensibility can be senseless. Morality can be virtueless. So then, why not? Why can't time be timeless? It's a long shot, I know. I guess that is why we have memories. Our memories are what makes time timeless, don't you think? Time is something, I think, everyone takes for granted. It is a gift, a privilege. Time is something we should mature and care for like it is a child. Time isn't just how it is defined above. It is also, most importantly, the best medicine we could ever have. And as you continue to read these letters, and from here on after, I want you to remember one thing: TIME HEALS WHAT REASON CANNOT."

When Larkin finds out that she has been diagnosed with leukemia, she knows that her life will never be the same. Some things happen for a reason, and maybe there is a light at the end of this grim tunnel. Her relationship with Ryan grows stronger as she becomes weaker. "If I am not so lucky as to beat this, if I don't live, promise me that you'll live on for me. Promise me you will live the most incredible life, meet the most incredible people, see the most incredible places, and make the most incredible movies. And lastly, promise me you will stop all this nonsenical dating that you do and fall in love with someone that you can't imagine living without her. Life is not incomplete without love. Find it, catch it, hold onto it, and never let it go."

This story is written through Ryan's eyes as he discovers letters that Larkin had written to him during their time together. Through these letters, we are able to go back in time and see things from Larkin's point of view from the time she was diagnosed, leading until she took her last breath. Throughout the letters Larkin focuses on several things: time, love, courage and life. Through it all, Larkin remains a strong tower and lets go of something that is so very dear to her only to find it to come back…stronger and more unconditional. “Our bond is bottomless, timeless, and effortless.” They say that when you stare into the eyes of death, you finally learn to appreciate and respect the life you have been given. Larkin made me see that. Our time here on Earth is a gift that should never be taken for granted. Our tomorrows are never guaranteed, so live today like it is your last.

"All I ask is that you give me today so I can prove to you that I'm your tomorrow."

This superbly written debut novel is one you should not pass up, even with the sadness it makes you feel, that connection. You just can't help feeling what Larkin and Ryan felt for each other and the feelings they have at what is happening to them, this novel overflows with emotions and that is why it has earned a 5 Star rating from me, when a book can make me feel all the emotions as the characters do, it deserves 5 Stars!

I was shocked to find out that this book is Jax Jillian's debut novel. This was such a wonderfully written book and I loved every minute of it.

We know from the outset of this book that Larkin has passed away. The insidious cancer claimed her life even though she fought long and hard with Ryan at her side. We meet Ryan suffering through his grief when he finally decides that maybe it's time he reads the letters Larkin wrote to him during her two year struggle with cancer. The letters he did not know about, until her death; letters she wrote to help him with his grief.

The story is told from Ryan's present POV and the letters take us back to their past when they were best friends and married to other people. They always loved each other, just never seemed to figure it out until Larkin is diagnosed with leukemia.

The way I am feeling right now, the way I am missing you, I now know that I love you, Ryan, and I think I always have. Love isn't a big enough word to describe this paralyzing feeling that I have for you. And right now, I don't understand it. Maybe one day I will. Maybe one day I will be able to let you into my soul so that maybe you can feel how much I love you.

This is a heartbreaking love story. I knew what the outcome was, yet I cried buckets for Ryan. But despite how sad this story was, I found the ending very uplifting. I would love to see a sequel from Ms. Jillian. Anything she writes from here on out, I will read! I highly recommend this book.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Have your Kleenex ready for this heartbreaking story of love and loss. Even though Ryan and Larkin have been friends for life when tragedy happens they soon realize their true love for each other. Even though Larkin has passed Ryan still struggles to go on without her. With the letters Larkin has left him she helps him heal an be able to move on with his life.

Ms. Jillian has done a fabulous job of allowing you to get to know the characters. This is no easy feat as Larkin has already passed so we only get to know everyone through the letters. The love, friendship, heartache, and sadness just makes you feel like you are right there alongside Ryan as he grieves for his wife.

I was not able to read this book in one sitting because I would read a few letters and then cry and had to put the book down. It is not often that a book captures your heart and makes you think about it long after you read the last page but this book will. Not only is it about the sadness of losing someone you love but it is also about finding that true love and living every moment you can with them.

I received a gift copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book in one sitting.

As I got past the story and onto letter 2, I had to take myself away to my bedroom to continue to read.

Most of the time I couldn't read out of blurred vision and a need to keep blowing my nose and wiping my tears as they were falling thick and fast down my cheeks.

Its left me a sniveling wreck.

That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, I did.

Jax Jillian has written this book so true to life, this could be a real life drama that anyone can experience or know of.

Its taken me several hours to think about what to write for a review.

Is it well written? Yes
Would I recommend it? Yes, especially if you like a tear jerker.

I was sat in Ryan's heart as he read those letters, as he lived his memories, as he looked forward to his future.
Gutting, heart wrenching? Oh yes.
Just be ready with the tissues.

Larkin’s Letters by Jax Jillian just undone me. I had to read this story in stages as my heart broke right along with Ryan’s. This is a beautiful story about trying to survive the death of the one you love the most. They were best friends growing up and remained friends their whole lives. What they did not realize it that they loved each other above all others. It took a tragedy to open their eyes.
The read gets a glimpse of their life together through the letters that Larkin left behind for Ryan. While it took me awhile to finish this book, a while being about 4 days, it was not because I did not like the book. I liked it so much that it hit me right in the heart and I ran out of Kleenex.
I give this book 5 stars and kudos for a great book hangover. There are no words to say how much this book touched me. Great job and I look forward to reading more stories from this author (maybe less tissues next time?).

Let me just say it took me a few days to gather my thoughts about this book. The book was written perfect! I got to letter two and was crying my eyes out! After that I had a hard time reading threw blurry eyes.

Ryan and Larkin are best friends and after some time finally realize that they are in love with each other. When Larkin finds out she has Leukemia she can’t find a way to tell Ryan so at first she starts to write him a letter then continues to write him a letter threw out her whole sickness. After she passes away Ryan is given the letters to read.

This book was amazing! It will definitely be a book that I will never forget. There is so much love, heartache, passion, its a tear-jerker, and completely moving.

This book will shatter you. There are no words to describe it's beauty, love and just how wonderful and amazing the story is. Ryan is soo soo amazing, kind, sweet, beautiful inside and out. and Larkin is gorgeous both inside and out. their story is beautiful, kind, romantic, heart wrenching, wonderful, sad and incredible. Have kleenex at the ready because you will surely need them. It's like a beautiful love song that you wish would go on forever.

Larkin and Ryan were best friends since childhood. they took different life paths but never lost touch with one another. They supported one another, was there for each other no matter what and loved each other so deeply that there wasn't anything they wouldn't give up for each other. they believed in one another and were each others belief and cheering system.

suddenly Larkin becomes ill and there life is put into a tailspin. Ryan sacrifices everything to be with Larkin when she needs him the most. as they are together their feelings change and they realize they love one another. That is not to say obstacles aren't in the way. Abigail and their fears of losing their best friend. but they do come together and are together in such a beautiful soul shattering way. all this is conveyed in letters that Larkin has left for Ryan her best friend and husband after she is succumbed by illness. As ryan gains strength from the letters, he remembers the moments of heaven Larkin talks about and it helps him to heal. I think the most beautiful letters were the last two. One about their renewal of vows and hers on the plane. Also Ryan's letter to her was gut wrenchingly beautiful. This man loved with all his heart and soul.

He can't let go of her because of fear that she is not happy. These letters help in the healing process and show him that Larkin is his angel the letters his wings and pieces of heaven that help him find peace.

Each letter is more beautiful and insightful as the next and will shatter you in a million beautiful different ways. You can feel their love for each other pour off the pages and in the words that are written on the page. Each emotion is felt of theirs and comes alive off the page.

A beautifully haunting love story that is a incredible emotional journey through a series of letters and trying to let go that you feel from the first page to the last. A incredible journey that shouldn't be missed just remember kleenex is needed because you will be touched in ways you never thought possible.

Blurb:
As Ryan Boone struggles to come to grips with not being able to keep a promise he made to his dying wife, Larkin's Letters propels readers into the mind of Ryan as he struggles with frequent visits from her ghost and a series of letters she left behind.

Ryan has worked hard to become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors, but no matter how famous he became, he always remained loyal to his childhood best friend, Larkin James. When Larkin is diagnosed with leukemia, Ryan sacrifices his career to be by her side and in turn realizes how much he had always loved her. Throughout Larkin's sickness, Ryan promised her he would never let her die alone. But we learn that not all of our promises are always within our control.

This story is a beautifully written love story. It's difficult to describe the feelings I felt while reading this book.

Ryan and Larkin have been best friends all of their lives. They realize they are in love with each and it's the type of love that is so deep it brings you to your knees. They are the other half of each other's souls.

We are reading this story through Ryan's POV through the letters Larkin has left for him after she passes away. Through the letters we see the relationship go from best friends to the relationship of deep emotional love. We also see the struggle she goes through with her illness. Ryan is having a hard time dealing with loss, but through the letters he heals and learns to deal with the debating loss of his true love. The letters tear him apart at the same time, it so very emotional

I highly recommend reading this book even with all the sadness and emotional turmoil. They have an awesome, true, and deep love I wish for everyone to have. Great first novel for this author, it definitely will pull you in and keep hold until the end.

I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Larkin’s Letters is a beautiful love story about falling in love and living for today. Larkin James and Ryan Boone have been childhood best friends. Both lived their lives down different paths and had spouses they loved at the time. When Larkin is diagnosed with leukaemia, the lives of Larkin and Ryan change. Larkin begins to writing letters to Ryan and explain their days together, past and present. Hold on tight to your tissue box because as you read you’ll be grabbing for a tissue!

“Ryan, I love you. I love you so much, I can’t breathe when you’re gone.”

“Then take my breath. I’ll be your breath when you can’t breathe.”

When I read the synopsis, I had a feeling I would shed a few tears. And boy did I ever! The story is written so beautifully that I could feel myself in the letters. Every memory shared, every scenario in their lives, I was there! This story tugged at my heart and just filled me with so much emotion. I can’t choose between Larkin or Ryan as the best character in this book. Just because I can’t pick one without the other. Ryan is caring, sweet, selfless, and so loving. And Larkin is so strong, soulful, and lovely. It’s such a beautiful chemistry they have, it’s as if they are one. Complimenting and comforting one another when cancer sucks.
I recommend this book to any one that loves a beautifully written love story. In a way, if I had to compare it to something, it would be similar to P.S. I Love You. But from a female point of view. I really enjoyed that we had Larkin’s letters but also had Ryan’s memories of the events also. Throughout my review, ‘beautiful’ is used quite a few times. And I want to keep on using it! You will not be disappointed in Larkin’s Letters by Jax Jillian. 5 beautiful, heart gripping, lovely smooches!

OMG! - It has taken quite a while to compose this review :o ... Not because it was bad, but because it was too good, too real & too heart wrenching! ... Get a big box of tissues handy & make sure you have plenty of time to read, coz you won’t want to stop turning the pages once you get started!

- I really prefer happy endings, but I had a feeling this may not have one which I will NOT clarify one way or the other at this time with a spoiler ;) ... If you start to feel some situations seem predictable, just wait & hang on to your seat, coz you’ll be thrown a curve as you continue turning each page, desperately waiting to see what comes next! ... I normally don’t like to read a book when it’s written with letters, but I do love how the author writes from each of the 2 main character’s POV’s & makes it clear whether it is a letter from the past or a current happening :)

- I have to say that this is one of the saddest & most poignant yet beautiful love stories I’ve ever read! ... Every single word touched my heart from the first page to the last! ... Get ready for a breath taking, yet gut-wrenching emotional roller coaster ride that is expertly woven by this amazing new author! ... If I didn’t know in advance that this is Jax Jillian’s first book, I would have thought I was reading a Nicholas Sparks book or a seasoned NY Times best selling author’s works, seriously!! ...

- Yes, I cried a lot & at times my vision was so blurry, I had to stop reading :o ... I felt like my heart was literally breaking as if I were actually experiencing this novel myself! ... So make sure you don’t miss out on this fabulous 5 star work of fiction!! ... I know we’ll be seeing accolades for this talented new author & I can’t wait for her next book!

I find it difficult to write this review because I was so overwhelmingly sad and sobbing by the end of this story. It was such a beautiful, moving story and makes me think of some of the Nicholas Sparks type of stories with love and loss but a wonderful journey along the way.

I was envious of the love that Ryan and Larkin have for each other and one that will last even after leaving this earth. The story is a mixture of sweet, bittersweet, happy, sad, but above all, an everlasting love.

Ryan and Larkin have known each other since they were in school, lived next door to each other, and were best friends. Once Ryan leaves home to go to LA to find an acting job, Larkin is left to finish high school. As Ryan becomes famous and wealthy, he always has Larkin with him for his movie premieres. They both marry others and divorce. It is so sweet that many times Ryan can’t sleep and no matter the time or where he is in the world, Larkin always answers the phone and reads from her unfinished manuscript to him. He always ends up dropping off to sleep while listening to her voice. He calls her his ‘lullaby’.

The story is told mostly from Ryan’s POV and reading the letters that Larkin wrote to him while she is ill. The book starts out stating that Larkin has passed away, Ryan is unable to move on and I could feel his heartbreak. The story is interwoven with the past and the present and there is a smooth transition between the two.

Ms. Jillian has an engaging, lyrical way of writing and the story just draws you into the lives of Ryan and Larkin, and feeling all of their emotions. This is an excellent debut novel.

Oh my goodness...perfect...absolutely perfect.

I honestly did not know how this story was going to be executed when I decided to read and review it. Based on the title I knew there were going to be letters involved, but that is all I basically thought it would be. I never thought it would impact me as much as it did.

This story is truly heartbreaking and freeing at the same time. It focuses on the love of two friends that evolves in the face of tragedy into something so pure...so one-in-a-lifetime.

Ryan and Larkin are perfect from page 1. From the moment I was introduced to them and their story, I just knew I was going to love this book. The author obviously put her whole heart and soul into every single paragraph, sentence, and word on every single page.

In a way this reminds me a tad of P.S. I Love You, because of the significant other kind of contacting the loved one even in death. Okay, so maybe I am the only who thinks that, but there is one part concerning flowers that is the reasoning behind my thinking.

This book is not just a journey of a love long overdue, but it is also a journey of forgiveness. Ryan had made a promise to Larkin that he would have died before breaking, and in the end, a part of him did when he could not fulfill that promise. But both Larkin's ghost and her letters teach him that he went above and beyond when it came to her. They teach him that she loved him no matter what and he is completely and utterly forgiven when it comes to that promise.

I am speechless, utterly speechless. This book was phenomenal, and probably one of the best of this genre I have read in a long time.

Review To ComeBack in the 2K decade I discovered two of my favorite Irish girls:

Marian Keyes and Cecelia Ahern… Read all their books, the great and the not so great ones. Three of my favorite books from them are:

Anybody Out there? By Keyes

Love, Rosie & P. S. I love you by Ahern

Have you read any of those? I highly recommend them. Both of Ahern’s are movies now.

Their plots are either about finding out you were always in love with your childhood best friend, letters from someone you’ll never see again, loved ones departed too soon and words left behind. All these plots I love to devour—my literacy chocolate if you may want to call it.

For some reason, while I read Jax Jillian’s book, I couldn’t stop thinking of my two favorite Irish girls and John Meyer. Great memories *she smiles dreamily*

Enough about me, thoughts aside and memory lane put to rest, in Larkin’s Letters, Mrs. Jillian tells us through letters written from Larkin’s point of view about the love story that developed from the moment she learned about her health diagnosed until the end. We get a glimpse of a destroyed Ryan Boone, as the love of his life died just as they discovered what they meant for each other.

The beauty of this kind of books is that we as readers—at least me—find a common denominator with the plot and bring their own wishes to hold those last letters or being able to have that brief, yet amazing love affair with the love of your life before they left.

I found the book entertaining and heartwarming.

When you find the love of your life, always make sure you let them know how much they mean to you. Time is precious and when you waste time away from your love ones there is always regreats.

Ryan and Larkin had been best friends since childhood. As they grew up and Ryan moves to California to become a huge Hollywood star, Larkin stays behind and married the guy she tought was "the one". Their friendship never suffered on the other hand they became so closed even when they were far away.

Both having a fail marriage and learning that Larkin was battleing Leukemia, Ryan doesn't think twice about leaving his career behind to be there for her, his best friend, his wife, the love of his life.

After learning of her illness, Larkin decides to write letters to Ryan and arranged then to be delivered after she's gone.

Ryan is being visited by Larkin's ghost and she leaves him hits for him to start reading the letters so he can finally live his life like she wanted him to.

Not being able to fulfilled the promise he made to his dying wife, Ryan is full of regreats.

Can Ryan finally find peace and let go of his beloved wife?

After I read this amazing story it made me realize, how lucky we are to find our true love, our best friend and the person we can't breath without. A loving memory stays with you forever.

I recommend you to read this amazing book and please have tissues at hand. You will need them.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review from the author."

Eight hours after finishing it, my eyes still ache and the tissue box is empty. Admittedly I am a bit of a tearful person, but this story soaked the pillow. Luckily I was reading alone, or it could have been a bit embarrassing!

As we know from the very beginning the major tragedy of the story, it is definitely the talent of the author that ensures it is a hugely emotional journey. I can't imagine it was an easy book to write, but it is done sensitively and eloquently. The switch from letter to memory to current time blurred into one and added to the ethereal feeling of the story.

As an aside, I think that in this time of celebrity, this book does a good job of reminding us that they are also people's friends and family and can suffer the same pain as anyone else.

I would highly recommend this book, with the advice that you also invest in a box of tissues and read it in private.

Well-written, Larkin's Letters leaves an undeniable mark in it's reader's hearts as it takes them in a journey with Ryan as he reads the letters Larkin left him. Jax Jillian knows how to manipulate words in order to bring out the maximum possible emotions from it's reader's. Jillian's version of true love makes one long for a love that is boundless and everlasting, a lifetime of love. Beautiful characters dominate the book. Larkin's struggles with leukemia brought out her gentle yet courteous nature into light and is extremely inspiring. Ryan, imperfect though he may be, showed that sometimes the best thing that could happen to us has been there the whole to me. The plot is perfectly arranged and the ending, unexpected. Readers will fall in love with this tear-jerker, I know I did.

I was given an e-copy by the Author for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review. All conclusions are my own responsibility.

All I can say about this book is that you will so be crying your eyes out and sopping up those tears with a dish towel. Well at least I did. This book is filled with love, patience , kindness, commitment, heartache and passion.I just cannot say enough about this book. What a dedication of love. Larkin a struggling screenplay writer is hit with Leukemia and vows to herself that she wants her husband to keep his promise and not let her die alone. The letter that Larkin writes to her husband (Ryan) of her journey with Leukemia will tug at your heart strings. i will tell you that when they said their vows and then again when they renewed them for a second time. I was a pure blubbering mess. I so want to have what Ryan and Larkin shared and I too would choose to die only in my husbands arms. Thank you so much Jax Jillian for writing such an amazing and touching book.

5 STARS

Simply put, this first book by Jax Jillian, is an amazing love story that will wring your heart and use up a box of kleenex.

What I like about this story was the fact that everything was not perfect that there is sadness, hurt, misunderstanding, and laughter. In spite of everything the overwhelming theme is loving someone so much that you put everything on hold for them.

There are no words that can appropriately describe this book. It is a must read and should be on every persons reading list. I know I am going to recommend it to the library reading group in my home town.

This was an extremely beautifully written story. It is a story of True Love.
This follows Ryan Boone trying to come to terms with the death of his wife Larkin. His friend gives him a pile of letters that Larkin asked him to give to Ryan after her death. He still sees her ghost prompting him to read the letters.
The subject of Larkin’s illness was written about so well, it was a true portrayal, but not too gory.
I found the story heart breaking but uplifting at the same time.
This is a must read, but make sure you have a box of tissues beside you.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through Drue and Sassy's Review Team. I was warned to have a box of tissue with me when I read this book, but that doesn't even begin to warn you on the heart wrenching emotions that can be felt while reading this book. Ryan has lost his life long best friend and lover. The author did an amazing job of allowing her readers to know the characters through Larkins letters. The book is written in such a way that you truly feel as if you know the characters and your heart truly feels the emotions that are experienced.

Larkin's Letters will leave a lasting impression on you. As you take the journey through the lives of Larkin and Ryan, you feel all the different emotions that both have dealt with thru the years. Larkin and Ryan learned the hard way what real love is. It took a devastating event to bring them back together. Thru the letters you learn that hope always exist, friendships always bind, love will always conquer and you will always find peace with closure. Take the journey with Larkin and Ryan, highly recommend. ~Review done by Chell

This is a fantastic debut novel that will stay with me for a long time.

Through Larkins letters we read from Larkins point of view. We read of her pain from when she was diagnosed. These letters are to help Ryan get through losing the love of his life.

Grab some tissues and be prepared to read this beautifully heart wrenching story of Larkin and Ryan's love for one another.

If your looking for a tear jerker then I highly recommend this story.

Larkins letters is a deeply emotional book about a man recovering from his wife and best friends death. I enjoyed this book, and got a lovely book hangover. The story was amazing, and it took me a while to get through it simply because I was just so strung out right along with Ryan. Did I want to open the next letter with him or wait it out with an interruption? I just paused myself and took the emotions Jax poured out of the book in doses.

I have to say that I'm only 13% in and I'm crying already. I'm hooked and have already decided I will need to read all day today...if emotionally possible. To be continued...

Finished the book this afternoon and still can't seem to find the right words to say. All I can say right now is that it is amazingly beautiful and realistic.
