I did not enjoy this book. I admired the main character's tenacity. The rest of the book was sordid and unappealing.

First book in the series. Great detective character. The story took some predictable turns, but the seedy world that it depicted kept it rife with atmosphere. I would definitely check out the next book in the series.

Jenner's an entertaining hero, a dogged one-footed private detective ; he's funny but melancholy and there's an excellently done south-east London setting. The first of an enjoyable series.
