This book will work so well in a toddler storytime. The children can do various actions and sounds with each page--so much to choose from as I see how the group is, which is good. Another good part is that there is no winding-up ending, so I can stop the book whenever is needed. The illustrations are easy and soothing, and convey the textures the child is feeling.
4/27/10 & 4/29/10 & 5/3/10 & 5/5/10: The book went well, but not as well as I hoped. At least some parents could see where I was going with some pages and got there. Of course, that meant they and the children were long done with the actions/sounds before I'd even done the first half of my sweep. But it wasn't a total loss of a book.
The repetitive phrase in the book~ How did it feel?~ gives your toddler a chance to answer the question that all have to do with the sensation of touch. Lots of alliteration, rhymes, and tongue twisters~ fun for reading aloud!
