“Love didn’t hurt you. Someone who doesn’t know how to love hurt you, and you confused the two…”

OMG! The prologue was hard to read. The story begins with the interaction between Summer and her grade A asshole of a husband Ryan. Summer is a sweet, beautiful woman but Ryan has ripped away all of her confidence by verbal and physical abuse. When Summer finally escapes her abusive husband, she moves to the quaint coastal town of Cape Isle. Summer owns and works in a bakery. She is content to sit back and lives in the shadows. She has made up her mind to never get into a relationship again. Everything was going according to plan until Grant waltzed into the bakery looking for some goodies… by goodies I mean cupcakes … get your mind out of the gutter :) :)

Grant is a rugged HOT Marine, recently discharged from the military after serving for ten years. Grant has never thought of settling down. When by chance Grant gets a job doing the renovations on Summer's house, they begin to spend more time together and slowly the attraction grows between the two. Will Grant be the one to help Summer pick up her scattered pieces or will it all fall apart when Summer's past comes back to haunt her?

“I just needed someone to help me pick up my scattered pieces”

The author did an awesome job with the characters. Summer is a little shy, sweet, beautiful – it was cute that she was super flustered in front of Grant. Well, who wouldn’t be, right? Grant is super sexy, strong and protective. I appreciate the slow building of their friendship into lovers – I think it is fitting since she just got out of a long term abusive relationship. The chemistry is definitely not lacking though. You can feel the attraction and how drawn they are together. The secondary character Lexie is very likable as well. She is funny, loyal, and a great friend. I thought the book had a nice pace from beginning to end. There are some funny banters, plenty of sexy moments, a little angst, and of course a hefty dose of drama. And I love the epilogue (sucker for HEA). Overall, I really enjoy this book – despite the rough beginning, it’s a feel good, love conquers all kind of book.

This is the first book I read of author Allie Able (another new awesome new find) and I would definitely read more of her books in the future.

I always love meeting and reading new authors :) When I read the blurb for this book, I was hooked. Wow. Talk about a great read.

From the prologue, we see what Summer has to endure at the hands of her husband. My heart broke for her. She has no one but her older aunt since she lost her parents while she was in college. He was supposed to be the one to love her and keep her safe. He was a monster. By a miracle, she was able to leave. Fast forward 9 months later and Summer has moved to a new town to start her life over, owning her own bakery.

I was so happy she got out of that situation , but deep down she was still guarded and shy. Her friend at the bakery Lexi was a great friend. While at work one day, Grant (who is best friends with Lexi's brother Nick) stops by.. What a sweetheart. He is finally home from doing 10 years in the Marines and decides to retire and work construction with his dad. Once he and Summer meet, the attraction was instant.

I am not one for insta love, etc..but what I loved about this is that even though they had the instant attraction, Grant genuinely wanted to get to know Summer and could tell she was dealing with alot. She finally let her guard down and they became friends. Their story flowed nicely and you'll fall for Grant. Now we have to wonder what happens to Ryan. Is he out of the picture? What happens with Summer and Grant? The other characters were great too and now I am looking forward to Nick's story. :) Take a chance on this beautiful and emotional story.. A story about finding love again when you thought it wasn't possible.

Well, for a Newbie Author and first book this was quite an engaging read.

The book started off with a shocker of a storyline which was quite risky I think, but I also believe the author pulled it off really well and once over the initial shock and the first couple of chapters I could really get to grips with the story.

The story flowed quite nicely, and the characters gelled really well, there were a couple of things mentioned that I thought " yeah right like that's convenient " but maybe that's just the cynic in me, But all in all I really enjoyed the story.

I never give away much about the story because I honestly don't want to ruin it for the readers but what I will say is this....

There is one disgusting pig of a man.
One broken frightened damaged naive girl.
One sexy Hot ex Marine.
some super bestie girlfriends, and one very loyal family, and not lets forget about the dog, OMG.... If you can call it a dog, more like a mini horse ha ha!

This is definitely a sweet, sugary Romance with a cherry on the top
( if you pardon my pun ha ha ) you'll know what I mean if you read this story, it's quite heartbreaking, with a lot of danger and fear, plenty of sexual tension a whole lot of loving, just how I love my stories.

I shall definitely be looking out for more books from this author
I gave this book 5* which I think is pretty good for a first book!

Well done to you Allie Able!

The hero was an amazing character to follow throughout the book. He was sweet and gentle and possessive in a very good way. His girl showed strength and fight. I like how the author wrote about the ex coming back into the picture, although the climax build was extremely fast it brought tears to my eyes. I would recommend this book to another person.

Allie is a new author to me but once I read the blurb I wanted to dive in and read more! She writes with passion and heart. This book not only will grip your heart, but it will also punch you quite literally in the gut! This book brings out so much emotion. It was so well-written, and the characters that she writes about are amazing!

Summer is trying to get past something so deep when she decides to move to Cape Isle, South Carolina. She was in an abusive marriage and left for dead. After that night, she promised herself never to fall in love again. But as the old saying goes "The heart wants what the heart wants." She moves forward in her life and opens a bakery, which was her lifelong dream to do. She is finally starting to feel normal again and begins to build her life back up. Enter Grant Hamilton! (SWOON)

Grant is an ex-Marine and is taking over his dad's construction company so that he may retire. He is not looking to have a relationship or even thinking about marriage until he meets Summer. His thoughts completely change, and he is determined to make her his. When he lands on her doorstep to do the renovations for her house, they are both shocked.

Can Summer overlook her past marriage and abuse to be able to put her heart out there again? Can Grant fix Summer or will Summer get away?

The chemistry they share is off the charts hot! This book was incredibly written, and I couldn't put it down, I just had to know where Allie was going to take me next. When you think she will take you one way, she takes you another. The suspense in some parts was thrilling, and the romance was beautiful. The next book she has coming out is Nick (Grants best friend) and Katie (the vet). You get a glimpse of them in this book, and I can not wait to see their story!

This is a very sweet love story with a serious message. This story really delves into the damage and pain domestic violence causes. Summer had painful past and all she wanted was a new start in a new town. I loved how sweet Grant was throughout the whole story. He showed such kindness to Summer. He was the kind of guy that every woman dreams of.
I really loved the dialogue both Summer and Grant had with themselves and with each other. The author really allowed the reader to get to know the characters in an intimate way. Summer was both insecure and scared, but she was determined to move on after all she had been through. Grant was determined in a different way. He knew after meeting Summer that she was the one for him; the only problem was he had to convince her he was serious. Overall, this story is the sweetest love story I have read in a long time.

From the first page this book sinks its hooks into you and you're trapped. I picked it up and couldn't put it down until I knew it had a happy ending (and the whole way through I felt as though I was holding my breath in hopes it would)

Summer is in a bad marriage - the worst kind you can imagine, but somehow she finds the strength to not only escape but to move on and follow her dreams of opening her own bakery.

Grant has just finished his final tour with the Marine corps and has come home to take over the family business. The moment he drops in to visit his sister where she works at the small town bakery, he sets eyes on Summer and everything changes.

Slowly but surely, Grant breaks down Summer's walls teaching her to not only trust again but to love again.

The perfect story for the romantic in us all!

This book will start off making your heart hurt. There is no secret to be unveiled about Summer's past as we are privy to it in the beginning. Summer is starting over - trying to pick up her scattered pieces, not sure if they will ever fit again. Grant has returned home after 10 years in the service. These two first meet through a mutual friend and instantly aware of each other. They meet again when Grant comes to talk to Summer about renovations she has contracted his family company for. This is the beginning of a sweet love story and I enjoyed the ride. The only reason I didn't 5 star this was because you knew how the story was going to go even before it unfolded. I will definitely read the next book in the series.

I fell in love with this book! Summer & Grant's story is so sweet. For this to be Allie's first book I think she blew it way past 5 stars!
In the beginning I was kind of wondering where it was going to go, it starts of with a big shocker! I was very skeptical about it. But let me just say I WAS NOT disappointed! This is a fabulous book!

Ugh.
Where to begin?

Once in a while I feel like a writer has a computer program of cliched romance-novel sentences and they hit a randomizer button and a book spits out. This most often occurs in Romantic Suspense.

This is one of those books.

For instance, I finally did a kindle word search and the hero kisses the heroine on the forehead 23 times (in a 310 page book). That's a forehead kiss every 13 pages. It annoyed my tbh.

And this book has a truly mind-boggling amount of typos, grammar, and spelling errors. Zero editing and zero spell check here. More than once the word THUMPS was used instead of thumbs. More. Than. Once.

Still, this book had some good parts to it. A very sweet hero and good female friendships.

Sadly this book was a real miss for me.

RATING:⭐️⭐️
STEAM LEVEL: Rated R
TRIGGERS: spousal physical abuse, attempted rape, assault, female sexually grabbed in bar
FEELS-O-METER: 4/5 - Tackled some seriously tough topics.

This book was a suprisingly easy lovable read. The synopsis reminds me of a Nicholas Sparks novel but I did not mind at all.
Just within the first few pages of Summers new life, I fell instantly in love with her and Grant. I guess Grant will be my new favourite bookboyfriend. He is so careful and caring and loves with a depth that takes your breath away.

Allie shows with this book her talent of writing easy lovable characters packed with a wonderful lovestory, even if the background is a pretty dark one, no one wishes for.

This story is about being broken, but own your strength, stand up for your self, healing your self, let yourself being healed, about learning to trust again and falling in love with your perfect person.

I read it in almost one sitting and I could not put it down, because I cared so much for the characters and I got what I craved for: a perfect lovestory

This was most definitely one of the best books I've read in a long time. I loved both of the main characters. She was such a strong woman who had been through so much. I loved being able to see her grow and actually accept the love that she deserves. The only thing that irritated me was when she tried to push Grant away when her ex got out of jail. That always drives me nuts when women do that. Overall this was an amazing book I wish we had more of their story and not of other people - although I am interested to read Nick's book and I am hoping Lexie has a book as well.

I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest Review.
This is a new author for me and i can say right now, it won't be the last book of this Author that i read.
This story centers around Summer Foster, a sweet girl who's confidence, and self worth has the torn and shattered by years of abuse both mental and physical from her Husband Ryan. Eventually after a particularly vicious night, where Summer is left broken in more ways than one she finally escapes him. She takes up residence in Cape Isle and starts to bravely re-build her life, buying a home and opening a successful bakery business. It's also here she meets Grant Hamilton, an ex marine who has returned home to run his fathers construction business.
The chemistry and attraction between Grant and Summer is pretty instant, but Summer has so many insecurities that Grant knows he has to tread carefully.
Grant is amazing, caring, patient, loving, protective, all in the right proportions you make your heart swoon. You won't be able to resist him and neither could Summer.
As their relationship progress's you can't help but feel involved with this couple and get invested in their outcome. Their love is sweet and kind and compassionate and you really feel that they have "made it" when Summer's past comes back to haunt them in the most horrific way. Although this twist was a little predictable, it was written perfectly for Grant and Summer's story and i really worried as to how the book would end for them, but i won't tell you !!! You really should pick this book up! This book isn't just about a beautiful love story, its also carry's a serious reminder that people do survive abusive relationships and do have the strength to escape and survive

Allie Able is a new author to me and I truly enjoyed reading Scattered Pieces. A lot of emotions ran through me while reading this book. I have never experienced what Summer went through however I felt like I was right there with her and my heart broke over and over.

When your life is up in pieces and you feel you have nothing left how do you move forward? That was Summer's struggle. She had dealt with a horrible marriage for so long and didn't know how to be "herself" without her ex-husband. She moved to a new place and started over when she meets Grant and slowly the Shattered pieces of her life are put back together.

Grant, ex-military, super sexy, protective, sweet guy has his eyes set on Summer from the first time he meets her. He is determined to make her his but how does he do that when she won't let him in.

Scattered Pieces gives you a sense of hope that even in the midst of horrible things good things can surpass those things that are bad. Summer had such courage and determination to not let the past effect her future. It might not have been always been roses and sunshine but she kept trying to move forward. There was a time in the book that I did want to smack Summer though but she did do the right thing in the end.

I loved getting to know Summer and Grant.
Allie Able, I am glad I found your books and I can't wait to dive into Nick and Katie's book.

As I start reading, I am thinking this story sounds rather familiar. Then it dawns on me….I read, and loved, this book a couple of months ago! But, being the uber-professional reviewer that I am, I reread it……in less than a day.

Do not misunderstand what I am saying - I read it quickly because I thoroughly enjoyed it. It starts out scary as hell - Summer is almost killed by her husband in the very beginning of the story. But, being the survivor that she is, she picks herself up and carries on.

I feel the author does an excellent job of not making Summer seem like she was completely defeated by her husband. I think she did a great job of making her strong but still vulnerable. Her past is a major part of who she is, but it isn’t all she is….if that makes any sense.

My only critique of this book is the editing (it was pretty bad). I would recommend that the author use an editor who will actually read the story. The majority of the errors occurred because the wrong word was used even though it was spelled correctly (i.e. own used instead of one). That being said, I would not let that distract anyone from reading this book. I was very impressed…..and yes, I did cry a bit at the end!

WARNING: Do not, I repeat, DO NOT start this book unless you have free time, because it WILL consume you. You won't want to put it down. You won't even want to blink. I found myself sneaking in as much of the words as I could, even when I only had a second to spare. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough!! Now, this is what a book is to me ladies... And gents? A book that captures you heart, mind and soul. I'm aware that a lot of people like the fantasy aspect or a book, but I like the real. Abuse is one subject that I find myself reading about a lot. It's real, it's maddening, and it's heart wrenching. A good cry doesn't scare me. And the reality of it in a romance makes for an even better ending to the story. That finding hope and happiness, that's what I LOVE.

Summer is a sweetheart who has been heart one too many times. She was the perfect heroine and had an amazing personality. And Grant, where can I find my own? He was such a kind hearted, loving man and I couldn't get enough of him.

I love Allie's writing style and can't wait to read more of her amazing heart gripping reads!!

Such A Beautifully written Debut Novel.

This is the debut Novel of Allie Able, and it is absolutely stunning. The story starts of with such an impact and it really doesn't stop impacting on you. This book is so sweet yet so devastating at the same time. It shows you what you can achieve when you have the strength..

Summer Foster endured six very long years of abuse, But she made it out alive, she grew and she built on her dreams and made them come true, It is truly inspiring to those women who are survivors, who do survive there abusive partners, That dreams can come true, you just got to have faith and believe..
Yes summer still has some emotional scars she is still coming to terms with, and i love her even more that she knows she isn't fully healed.

Grant Hamilton is a recently discharged Marine, coming home after his years of service, I love Grant for Summer, he is so sweet and so caring, he doesn't rush her and he knew that something was wrong with her and always tried to be there for her.. He really did love Summer.

The side characters were brilliant, And I can't wait to read the next book...

I just finished a beautiful romantic book that was given to me to review. This book captured my interest from the very beginning with the main character, Allie who is trying to her hardest to survive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The past six years of her life have been about survival and trying to keep herself together no matter what. Allie makes the ultimate decision to change her life based on the horrific circumstances. To become her own hero. To pick up the pieces and make a serious change! I loved that Allie met a wonderful man who treated her like a queen. She learns the hard way to trust other people that will stand by her side. To protect her when needed. She also learns to live her life with joy and not fear. The love story in this book was just plain sweet! I am giving this a 5 star rating. The book had a strong plot. Characters were great. The story flowed. Conflict and Climax were awesome. The ending was the ultimate.

What a fantastic debut for an author.

Allie had me from the get go in this book.
By page 3 I was feeling stabby and ready to fuck someone up.

This is a story about Summer whose ex husband is abusive. She try's to start fresh and meets Grant. Can he break down the walls she's put up?

Summer's story will break your heart and you will find yourself captured by her and Grants story. It's a story of love and healing. I loved the characters in this book and Allie made them come to life. I felt myself knowing them on such a personal level.

This story has some angst in it as well and will have you yelling and wanting to throw your kindle.

Such a great love story but also deals with some pain and abuse. It will have you from beginning to end.

Awesome book I will definitely be reading the next ones in this series.

I was recommended this book by a friend to read and started out reading it as a group read. Yep, wasn't having any of that! Once I started I didn't look back! I just couldn't put it down!!! I'm a sucker for a military man and a strong female lead and this story had both! Right from the start after we learn Summer has a past the most amazing and understanding man in the world walks into her life by the name of Grant. And let me tell you, he is perfect! These two begin their journey and it is nothing short of beautiful! There is some suspense that pulled me right in but the love story was so beautiful I couldn't put it down! You struggle in life and bad things happen. You can choose to let them define you or you can fight back. Summer fights back and finds Grant. There are ups and downs but what would the story be without them! I can't wait to read the next one!

I LOVED this book. I couldn't put it down. I was hooked from beginning to end.
This is a story that gives so much: love, lust, passion, heartbreak.
This is the story of Summer, a beautiful girl inside and out escaping the troubles of an abusive relationship. The last thing she needed or wanted was the attention of another man.
Enter Grant, retired marine. I expected him to have a rough exterior but he was so kind and gentle with Summer to show how devoted and in love he was with her.
Happily ever after, right? Of course not.
Loads of drama ensues and I can't recommend this book higher.
You won't regret reading this.

What an amazing debut novel.
Allie Able's ability to tell Summer and Grant's story is beautiful.
Abuse is always, ALWAYS a difficult obstacle to tackle when writing, it's raw, it's gritty, it's REAL and as an author you need to do this justice otherwise it's hit or miss. Allie Able managed to show us the result of an abusive marriage and capture our hearts while doing it. I hurt for Summer, I ached for her and I needed to see her get her HEA. I was personally involved in this story, every step of the way, that is how engaged I was in this story.

Allie, I would happily read anything and everything you ever publish. <3

I received an ARC for this book. I am writing my review for bookwhores addict.

This was such a sweet romantic read, I was able to read it in a matter of hours and absolutely adored the characters, especially Summer. Summer was a domestic abuse victim trying to start her life over again and you felt everything for this character, her fears, her joys, everything.
Grant, the male lead, just got out of the marines and was forever the protector, he was sweet and caring and had the patience of a knight.

There were twists and turns but such a great great read for a debut book. I recommend it to all.

Scattered Pieces

A beautiful story for Allie Able's debut book! Healing, acceptance, moving forward, and finding a real true love makes Scattered Pieces a pleasant, thrilling, and a wonderful read.
Summer is finding herself in a new town, starting over after she stands up to the horrible things in their past.
Grant, fresh out of the Marines, finally finds a forever woman. Together they find something just for them, a love that was always meant to be. Tragically strikes and the epilogue leaves you feeling warm, happy, and content like the characters.

Raw and life like are two ways I see this book. The story was a beautiful read, but for me it was the emotions that pulled me in, kept me turning the pages to find out what would come next. The feel, the emotions of this book carried such a weight of reality to it, it actually took me off guard. It is easy to tell this story means something great to the author. Summer is someone who everyone has been at one point or another in life.
I am comfortable enough to admit I cried a great deal of the time as I read this and when I reached the end, I sighed with content and happiness Summer too felt.

Great read

I loved reading Summer and Grant's journey. This book had me feeling sadness, anger (Ryan made me want to do bodily harm), compassion, love, and healing. I love reading about abuse victims getting an amazing HEA. There were some typos and grammar problems along the way but for me it didn't take away from the story. Great Kindle Unlimited choice. I look forward to Nick and Katie's story.
