DS Johnny Inch #2

Tight Circle

Rate this book
SIN, Scotland Yard's top crime-busting team — so-called from the initials of its oddly assorted members — is called in to investigate a bank robbery.

But one of them - Nicodemus, the pompous “Old Etonian” member of the trio - is implicated in the raid, suspected of turning off the alarm when he went in for an overdraft.

The burglary looks to have been masterminded by the renowned criminal Tom Minter.

But he has a secure alibi for the time of the crime.

The only other man is a drunk seen just before the thieves entered the bank.

Nicodemus says he recognises the voice of the burglar, Dassigne, a friend of his sister’s flatmate Jill Summerbee.

But it doesn’t look good when they come across him retrieving some stashed money.

Could it be payment for his involvement in the robbery?

Superintendent Sherrey is forced to suspend him from duty.

Sergeant Inch refuses to believe the accusation and continues the investigation alone, starting with Jill Summerbee, who’s scared, in love with Nicodemus and borrowing money from the bank manager, Colin...

Can he find the culprit of the robbery?

And can he woo Nicodemus’ sister, Carole, along the way?

When Jill Summerbee, about to report something important to the police, is found dead, the investigation takes a dark turn.

Inch is getting closer to Carole but no closer to his killer.

When Dassigne is also murdered, Inch is running out of suspects…

A bank robbery is investigated by Superintendent Sherrey's team, namely D.S. Johnny Inch. But soon there is a murder. Will this be the only one. Is there a connection between the two events.
Although I enjoyed the mystery I just didn't find the characters likeable.

A good old fashioned police mystery.
Very highly recommended.
I was given a digital copy of this book by the publisher Endeavour via Netgalley in return for an honest unbiased review.
