Chaotic Duplicity

Rate this book
Jack's torment in the afterlife continues on, mercilessly. His current assignment eerily mirrors several aspects of his own past life, leaving him to question his role for the Sentinel once again. After a humorous attempt to change the fate of a loving couple, Jack is witness to a truly horrific act that he nor Hauser can prevent. The time has come for Jack to confront those in the high council, but will they be as forgiving for his indiscretions as his trainer has been?

Once again Paul B. Kohler has written a story that will take readers where they have never been before and it is a journey I highly recommend. Once again readers are let into the life of Jack, a soul collector, although he is still new at the job and trying to figure things out, plus for a soul collector, Jack has a heart and brings a different angle to the job. In this part of the series, the author is going to throw a curve ball to the reader and the twist this series takes is amazing, now I am eagerly awaiting part seven so I can see where the author will take me next. This is a well written series and the author has done a fantastic job with both the characters and the storytelling.

"Deep inside, I hated to see anyone die. But it was only through Hauser's-or was it the Sentinel's?-training regimen that clarity was being brought forth in my own soul. I truly wanted to save everyone, and I was fairly confident that that realization was not what the training was intended for."

Jack finds himself pursuing the souls of two lovers; and the woman, much like Cyndi, who was cheating on her husband. While Jack is scoping out the situation and trying to figure out how they will die he finds that the husband will also kill himself. Jack again, tries to change the situation to avoid the deaths.

Enoch appears again outside of Jack's dreams and Jack struggles with his presence and what it means for everyone involved.

When Jack tries to save the lives of two lovers from a jealous husband Enoch Gant appears to carry out the murders and frame the husband. He then takes the two souls Jack was supposed to collect for his own uses. Now Jack must appear before the sentinel to explain what happened. The action heats up in this sixth book in this imaginative series.
