Hawker partners with a madam to save a world-class Vegas brothel
James Hawker finds her in the Yellow Pages, listed under “P”—for prostitution. This is Las Vegas, after all, where the world’s oldest profession is just another business. Vegas has been a wide-open town for more than a a place where respectable Americans can indulge their darkest fantasies. But an unpleasant new attraction has been added to this paradise of gambling and perversion—the forbidden vice called murder. Hawker isn’t a gambling man, but murder is his business.
Barbara Blaine is the most talented madam in Sin City, savvy and tough and radiantly beautiful. A syndicate of gangsters wants to take over her brothel, and Blaine is ready to fight them tooth and claw. But when her longtime lover disappears, she knows the only man who can help her is Hawker, America’s deadliest vigilante.
Vegas Vengeance is the 6th book in the Hawker series, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.
No muss, no fuss. This book cut's to the quick. This is one of the best men's action series from the 80's, no questions asked. The people who made the t.v. show, The Equalizer, should of payed more attention to this.
Hawk is in Vegas to help out some casino owners that used to be cops. They open their gambling complex off the strip. Five casinos, side by side. Throw in a house of ill repute, and you have most of what Vegas has to offer. Things seem to start happening for the worse for the owners of these establishments. Property damage. Threats. Even murder. Is the mob pushing in for a bit of the action or other odious blighters. You won't be able to put it down till you read straight through. It's only 172 pages anyway.
Hawker Vegas Vengeance is the sixth book in the series, and man was it a good one! V.V. reads very similar to an 80's detective/action tv show. It's short and action packed, and I found myself glued to every page. We find out hero Hawker back in the thick of things, out to stop crime where the police can't. Unlike the past five books in the series, we aren't hammered with the backstory of Hawker, perhaps the author figured, now that we are on book 6, we know what's going on. I had only one minor complaint about the book, and I'm not sure if I can discuss the complaint without a minor spoiler. So be aware, he comes the SPOILER.
You spend most of the book joining Hawker in trying to figure out who the bad guy(s) are, and just when I thought I figured it out, the book just tosses a totally new group at me, never mentioned once. So if you are hoping for a twist ending, or a big surprise, you won't find it here. Other than that minor complaint, it was a fun quick read, and continues to make we want to dive into the next book.
If you've enjoyed the Hawker series so far, you will love this one too! 5 stars.

Someone wants to own the 5C Ranch properties, but they don’t want to pay for them. They prefer to use threats, vandalism, assault, and mortar. A friend asks James Hawker to come and help get to the bottom of things. This time, he gets way more than he bargained for.
Just love Randy from Doc Ford series and have my new love Jennifer Taylor Wojcik (also a great author) reading him now. He would love her series also. Barry Mishall
This read was extremely generic and just became to silly. I finished it and was glad when I did. It didn't have any substance to it. That's all I have to say..
#6 in the Hawker series. Hawker is an 11 book series published between 1984-1986 by Randy Wayne White writing as Carl Ramm. James Hawker is a vigilante for hire who owes much to "The Executioner", Don Pendleton's series. This series seems to be quickly written for the cash prior to the Doc Ford series, published under his own name, beginning in 1990.
