Honestly, I know Mary and she is awesome. I've read all the books in this series. I can't remember which one is which, so this will be my review for all five.

Mary tells a good story. The setting is in rural NW Arkansas. Maybe North Central. I'm in Central and don't know how they categorize themselves where this is set. The area and people are accurate, and that gave me a connection to the stories. These are my people.

Mary's stories have suspense, believable characters, and good plots. She's doing them herself entirely. As such, she doesn't benefit from professional editors and proofreaders. But who cares if the story is good? I'd rather have a good story than an average one with pristine layout, perfect formatting, and professional cover art.

These are stories of a small town, small county sheriff. Modern day. Crime stories. They'll keep you guessing as to the culprit, or if she gives you the culprit early, she'll keep you in suspense about something else.

Read all five! You'll be glad you did.
