Johnson LETTERS TO THE PURPLE SATIN KILLER by Joshua Chaplinsky BLACK DRAGON RIVER by Aaron Fox-Lerner THE FLIGHT HOME by Carl Press THE BEST OF ALL POSSIBLE WORLDS by T.L. Huchu RED SCARE by J. M. Taylor THE CAPTAIN AND THE SNAKES by Paul Heatley WEST MESA by Justin Bendell
This is an anthology of crime stories. Very similar to the Noir series. As in any anthology, some stories were better than others. I really enjoyed the final story about a low level thug trying to do the right thing, but that life won't release its hold on him.
Too many good stories to pick a favorite!! -Black Dragon River. Apathetic, yet thought-provoking. Decisions made under pressure with the calm acceptance of a suicide bomber. -Letters to the Purple Satin Killer. A hilarious story told in letters. Our titular character is always off-screen, yet his presence is tremendous. -A captain and his Snakes. Heartbreaking and satisfying. Could read this one again and again.
The best of Both worlds. It dragged on and was really unsatisfying.
More of the good stuff. Tales so raw and gaping that you don't know where to turn. Tales that'll leave you shaking your head and wondering if this really is what goes on out there when most of us are home watching tv or getting some shut eye so we can be bright and cheery for the next day's meetings. There's a dark underside to our civilization and these tales give you a sense of what's out there.
Thuglit is a bimonthly collection of short stories of the pulp genre. It's hard to find ant redeeming qualities in the cast of characters in these stories. Every issue contains stories by various authors. Really enjoy it!
