This is an interesting biography of one of Zimbabwe's most distinguished family. The book focuses on the lives of Reverend Thompson Samkange and his two sons Stanlake and Sketchely. And through their own eyes and voices we are able to peak into the emergence of political consciousness and nationalism in Zimbabwe.

The book was written based on primary sources, such as files kept by the Samkanges, newspaper articles, letters in the national archives and interviews.

If you are a student of Zimbabwean history, I recommend you read this book because it adds a different perspective and insights to the usual rhetoric we have been fed.
