Much as I enjoyed 'A Lot Of Hard Yakka' this feels like Hughes' equivalent of a band's tricky second album. Less said the better, but there is content in here I'd rather not have read and if his 18 year old daughter stumbles over this, I'm sure she'd rather not read it.
This book was an UN-pleasant surprise, although the author made noble attempts at humor. I just found his regurgitation of events as incredibly vulgar. I admit was I was taken aback and disappointed.
Having never really paying too much attention to Simon Hughes as a cricketer, I became aware of him as the analyst on Channel 4 whilst they had the rights to cover Test Matches.
A friend recommended his books as inetrestingly amusing diversion. They were!
How one man can have so much fun, whilst basically "winging-it" I'll never know! The end result is this and his other books that are so funny that it's a wonder one doesn't rupture oneself.
