One of my favorite writers is Khaled Hosseini (a doctor-turned-writer). He is an inspiration. You can't just read his books, you feel them, you live them. He is a true storyteller.
I have read all three of his books but 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' took my heart away. I never read the same book twice but I picked this one up after years because I was starting to forget few parts of it and it made me feel anxious, those of you who have not read it. Let me summarize it for you. It's a story of two women (Laila and Mariam) with different upbringing and mindsets, set in the war times in Afghan, losing their loved ones on every step, struggling to survive in a men's world. It is a deeply moving story of love and friendships. As a 21st century woman, I instantly connect to Laila but I can feel the struggle of Mariam too, you can't ignore it because it's so well described.
This book is so dear to me, it plays a major part in my early life to bring out the feminist inside me. Not that it's offending to men by portraying only negative roles. Feminism is always misunderstood.

Do give it a try and fall in love with an outstanding narration.

This book is my favorite book. I have read this book 107 times. Worn out 3 copies to a point where every page was taped up and now finally downloaded the e version of it.
