Cover got me!
Never heard of the series, the author, or this book, but a split-second during a book browse and...had to have it. Head full of gothic, dark, spine-tingling paranormal tale, I took a deep breath and plunged in and...oh my beautiful eyes, a spider shifter and-and a gryphon shifter. So yes, it was off to a good start and ultimately became a moderately engaging story.

This one is part of the Woodland Creek series tied together by the theme of the Woodland Creek setting and the inclusion of shifter characters in each book. There are different authors for each of the books and it seems that each story is written as a standalone and can be read in any order? Not sure on that, but that's my best guess since this is the only book from the series I've read.

Olivia, wife to new mafia don and wizard, Wes Scarlett, is sent in by her husband to assassinate rival mafia boss and murderer of Wes' late father, Hugh Prince. Olivia is good at what she does since she is a spider shifter and can get into the tightest places and go undetected. She is loyal to her husband and the Scarlett family, but really she wants to walk away from death dealing and start a family with Wes whom she loves deeply. Her past life is the secret she keeps from her husband hoping he will never find out.

Evie, the sheltered, innocent sister of Wes, attends college and dreams of the day she can be with her human childhood sweetheart, Patrick Drake. Patrick is a ray of sunshine compared to the dark word full of secrets and duty to family she inhabits. She knows about the feud between the two mafia families and is loyal, but has been deliberately sheltered from it all. Her dark dreams foretell violence to come from a mysterious stranger with green eyes. But then Evie learns a powerful secret about herself from her mother who has kept secrets up until now. One encounter with a charismatic, gorgeous stranger, Avalon Prince, makes her realize that she is now being drawn into the storm of revenge that has come with the retaliatory death of Hugh Prince.

Wes Scarlett only ever wanted to work in his lab and enjoy his family, but then Hugh Prince started a blood feud that ultimately killed Wes' father. He is not cut out to be the head of his mafia family and so seeks to end the rivalry once and for all. Wes makes a fatal decision. His decision doesn't set easy with him and the guilt is strong, but then he feels real fear when the last remaining Prince family member returns to Woodland Creek with a evil smile and a sinister ultimatum regarding Evie.

Alright, so this one jumped right in and started off strong. The author had brought together some unique and powerful elements- mafia family wizards, spider shifter assassin, gryphons, a dark tortured man set on revenge, a young innocent girl planning to marry her childhood sweetheart, ominous mansion settings, secrets, betrayals, and small college town in the fall. I should have been completely satisfied.
But I wasn't.
Not that I hated it or even disliked it. Well actually, I was a little irritated because there was so much potential. This was a story that just 'missed it by that much' to quote Maxwell Smart.
I'm leaning toward the opinion that it bit off more than it could chew for the page count.

What caught my attention most was that there were echoes of Bronte's Wuthering Heights with Avalon so much like Heathcliffe and the old Beauty and the Beast fairytale in those scenes where Evie sacrificed her happiness with Patrick to go live with Avalon to save her family's lives and end the deadly conflict.

Avalon as a character and his plot thread eclipsed almost everything else in the story. Wes and Olivia's story thread and even the conflict between Wes and Avalon was strong enough to balance against Avalon's charisma. And this was an Avalon that wasn't even completely teased out and at full potential. Things were introduced about him that were left unexplained and that alteration in his character at the end left me so disappointed. He was shades of gray and then suddenly he was full blown black with black on top.

Evie had the growth journey of young, naive and pampered princess having her eyes opened to the darkness in the world and tough choices. Her romance with Patrick was sweet and easy- not a lot of depth especially since he is ignorant of the paranormal world hidden in plain sight around him. I liked them together and they are a cute couple, but Avalon's presence rushes over this lightly developed romance with his grief, loneliness, deep longing for someone to love and being willing to ruthlessly go after it not understanding until he has her in a cage that he can never make his caged bird want to stay if the door of the cage were to be opened.

Wes and Olivia's story line really needed it's own book. They are intriguing characters with backgrounds that scream to be developed into something more. This pair and their relationship was my favorite part of the book outside of Avalon's handsome, dark, and broody pull.

In the end, I was happy to have read this mildly dark gothic tale of revenge, romance, and doomed love that hit pretty close to the mark. I think it is definitely worthy of a sweet paranormal romance lover's interest.

I picked the book up at Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I received a free copy of this book from Hachette Australia via Netgalley.

This book sucked me in immediately and kept me reading. The story of two warring magical families was one I couldn’t resist. And a spider shifter! It was hard to put down.

Why then just three stars? There was a paradox here for me: it kept me reading, but I didn’t like aspects of the writing. Apart from the grammatical errors (e.g. repeatedly referring to people as ‘that’ instead of ‘who’ and other odd little prose tics), there was something it lacked that I kept wanting. The prose, vivid and expressive as it is, seemed to choppily skate along the surface of people and things, just above the level of cliché. Or perhaps it’s the characters: boldly drawn though they are, I feel that we don’t really ever get below the surface to characters’ deeper motivations. We see their actions and emotions, but why are they feeling these things? We are told their surface motivations, but I wanted to get beneath their skin and understand why they acted the way they did.

And yet perhaps this very choppiness made it a quick and compelling read. There is a real sense of vigour about the writing. It’s a relatively short book (perhaps even a novella or novelette?) and perhaps it just needed a larger (or deeper) canvas. In any case, I would certainly enjoy reading more about these characters and their world.

ARC kindly provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

"Just like her mother, Evie transformed into a creature of myth, legend, and nightmare."

Evie was born into a family of wizards...or so she thought that she is entirely a wizard. Caught in the war between two families , Evie tries to keep the love of her life and end the war between Scarlett and Prince . But on the road discovers that her mother, brother and sister-in-law they all have another dark side . Including Evie, she discovers new powers and her true form. Deep buried secrets come out to light..

I really enjoyed this story, however I'm not sure if we really have a a main character or characters as the book is written from both Evie and Olivia's sides and Evie didn't really do much in the book. She went to Avalon more because she was forced by her mother, then she got saved by her and the rest of her family. Olivia pretty much did all of the dirty work. and her husband Wes, also Evie's brother,is no better than Avalon. Looking from outside, this entire war started because of the Scarlett family and continued by Wes.

But that is just how I see this story. just feel that the story didn't really had a happy ending. The good guys turn out to be the bad guys and vice-versa. Evie , Parker and Avalon Prince are the innocent characters that crossed the path of war. Evie's mom, Wes and even Olivia. I believe they are the real bad characters in the story, I mean... even the book cover is suggestive.

Anyway, I have a weird way of seeing things.

Title: The Scarlett Legacy
Author: K.N Lee
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Format: Ebook
Pages: 344
Rating: 5
Heat: 2

Thoughts: This was so not what I was expecting. I swear it didn't have as many pages as it claims to, it was so easy to get lost in the story and forget about anything else going on. The characters were very interesting, one can shift into a very poisonous spider (shudder, not a huge spider fan), which is actually pretty cool for an assassin. And or course there are wizards but the coolest thing is what Evie can turn into. First time for me reading about that kind of shifter (I won't tell, you'll just have to read it lol). Plus, I really liked Evie. Even though her family has tried to shelter her as to what goes on behind the scenes, she isn't stupid or a spoiled brat. She may not know the details but she knows things are a little shady.

I loved the fact that this was not what I was expecting, I knew there would be a HEA but man, Evie ROCKS!! I really like the Woodland Creek books and can't wait to read more!

This is going to my "Did not finish" shelf. I'm pretty sure it's one of the Young Adult books that sneak into my feed every once in awhile. If I were a teen, maybe I would have liked this book. As an adult, it's definitely a fail and I am baffled by the reviews. The best way I can describe it is shallow. The story felt shallow. The characters reactions and dialog all felt phony and off and again, shallow. They would accept things without explanation that made no sense and just move on - there were just all sorts of things that didn't make sense. I didn't like it and won't take the time to finish it. There are too many other books out there!

After seeing the cover and reading the premise, this was a book I really was looking forward to getting my hands on.

*Some things below might be considered spoilers*

The first chapter grabs immediately. A shape-shifter sneaks in and murderers a mafia boss, and so the scene is set for a fantastical crime adventure. When Evie steps up in the next chapter, the daughter of a crime boss who is totally unaware of the situation around her, it's hard not to like her right away. She's pure and kind, where her family is not. Her hopes are merely in getting a good degree and marrying her hot and just as pure boyfriend. Black vs. White.

As the story continues, it's easy to see how Evie's family is able to keep her in the dark. I never had the impression that she was 'stupid' but simply well-lied to. She's sweet in every way and represents the kind of girl one would enjoy being best friends with. Not even snobby despite her family's wealth and position.

When the super hot Avalon, the son of the murdered mafia king, enters the scene, it seems as if Evie is destined for him. There's a great tension inside and around Evie as she tries to comes to terms with her own split heart. It's romance pure and totally drool worthy from all sides.

As I read through this, I was completely drawn up in the story, wondering which perfect guy would win out in the end. . .and of course, very curious where all the revenge, intrigue, murder and magical powers would take matters. This was a book I didn't want to put down and loved getting lost in the pages.

Then the last chapters came, and everything flipped into full speed. All the intrigue and tension that had been built up seemed to fall to the wayside as the story suddenly felt rushed to simply get to the end. I couldn't wait to see what happened with Avalon, but just as it got good. . .his personality switched into over-drive and the hoped for tension between him and Evie never had a chance to really develop. There was so much potential and it left me feeling cheated. Even Evie's original boyfriend suddenly appears and knows everything without any struggle or confusion since the family, unseen to the reader, decided to reveal all so-called 'secrets' to him.

There is so much to love in this book, but the ending felt like a nose-dive, which is really too bad since the writing, characters and descriptions are pretty amazing during most of the book.

I received an ARC of "The Scarlet Legacy" from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

What a thrill, it's also my first K.N. Lee book, I jumped in feet first & sunk within the words. The first chapter was pretty intense & then it continued on from there. "The Scarlet Legacy" is K.N. Lee's installment for the "Woodland Creek" collection, a collaboration of 30 authors all writing about 1 little town in Indiana USA, I was intrigued with the concept behind this collection.

Again I will say WHAT A THRILL, that first chapter, damn... then it just continues on. A dangerous crime boss goes down, the only heir returns, a century old feud, shifters, wizards & secrets, all wrapped up in this delicious book. I honestly couldn't put it down, I NEEDED to find out what happens & then WOW, I so didn't expect that.

I need to read more books from K.N. Lee & I also can't wait to read what the others have written for the "Woodland Creek" collection.

Oh, I feel so lucky to not have to worry about being attracted to more than one person. I feel for Evie Scarlett's predicament: Parker, or Avalon? And some people just can't let go a family grudges. This was fun, not toooo intense, and I am also going to have to check out other books of the Woodland Creek series.

I see some potential here but I didn't like the execution.
The plot is not clear, all characters are superficially sketched and the location where the story takes place is poorly described.
By the end of the book a lot of questions remain unanswered and the story looks rushed.

This book was a weird read, because somehow you end up cheering for the bad guys since that's the people you start with and then they are actually not the good guy but the less bad guys. It's so weird, nobody is really nice or innocent except Parker.

So this is the story of a vendetta between two family of Wizard, though the little problem is that we arrive in the story basically at the end of it and the details of what happened between the family is just described in passing.

I can totally understand Avalon, like yeah come home and every body is dead, though I don't understand what's his deal with Evie. If you want to be loved even if that start as a revenge, just get someone who actually give a fuck about you. I think the guy was hungry for punishment for some reason. Also the fact that he is reading a book about demon was making me feel like something more was coming but nah.. that was just a little artifact to justify not liking the guy. I mean he could have just killed the whole Scarlett family and be done with it in the first place. Yeah he hurt them and went all beast on Evie but that still makes him the one guy who didn't kill anyone. And he still is the bad guy. So yeah this book somehow fucks with the reader's moral compass.

I liked Evie. I think I like her because she was a bit confused when she first though Avalon but still decided that she actually still wanted Parker. I mean that's new. A lot of YA book always get the girl to the new guy and throw the old relationship to the window because hell destiny, right.
I liked that she was confused and sort of didn't make too much of a big deal about it.
What made me confused though is how she manages to get her Griffon abilities going so fast. Like she never knew she was one, for some reasons and then she can just use it the moment she decided it's ok. I would think she would need a bit of practice.
Another point is the reason why nobody knows their mother is a shifter, like how could she get married to a guy who actually hated her kind and make half breed kids with him is beyond me. Though the relationship between Olivia and Wes is definitely not much better, talk about the screw up running in the family.

Anyway that was pretty entertaining and I really wanted to know what was coming next.

What sounded good from the cover text turned out to be a bit disappointing. Most of the characters were, to be strictly honest, criminals, mob leaders or part of the mob. The story starts more or less towards the end of an ongoing fight between two of the criminal families, and the setting is what sounded like a small town. So for me, there was nothing in the main characters I found likeable; Wes, Evie's brother, has "a pain in his stomach" thinking about having killed two certain persons - ah well, maybe he just ate something wrong huh? As a contrast to all the others, Evie and Parker were just too good to be true. So nothing realistic, and despite the characters all being oh so remorseful, they came over as quite shallow. I won't even mention Evie's so far hidden powers which are so vital all of a sudden?
The story itself: incidents, actions, reactions followed each other quite quickly, but not in what I would call a fast-paced story, more jumping from one thing to the other, without explanations - they seemed disconnected, not one leading to the other.
The plot as such was okay, but I think the implementation of the story itself is lacking.

College student Evie Scarlett is a wizard and only wants two things – to marry Parker Drake and leave Woodland Creek and get away from her family who drive her crazy. However it all falls over when dangerous crime boss Hugh Prince is murdered while awaiting trial for the murder of Evie's father and so Evie's family become the prime suspects. Avalon (Hugh's youngest son) arrives and throws the feud between their two families into chaos when a choice is given – either her eldest brother dies or they give Evie to him. Evie suddenly has to find a way to protect her family and win back her freedom which is then complicated when she finds a new power she had no idea she had and finds herself attracted to the very man who has bartered for her.

A pleasant novella that ties quite well into the Woodland Creek world. Well written but would have benefited from more detail and being a longer book.

“Evie always knew that evil was coming to Westerly Creek. She just never expected to be so attracted to him.”

Evie’s dad is killed then her brother thinks he wiped out the rival Prince only to find that, oops, he missed one. That’s Avalon Prince, who decides to bring the whole century-old feud to a conclusion the most efficient way which, you guessed it, ain’t one that’s exactly healthy for the Scarlett Family. Darn-it that Evie ends up being so hooked on him...

If that sounds like the makings of a pretty good mobster story with romance elements you’re right. Then add in that this is actually fantasy/paranormal, with magic, wizards, werewolves, shifters and assorted others. KN Lee is s superb story-teller and this is clearly evidenced in The Scarlett Legacy. Great writing. Great plot. Great characters. Nothing more you could ask for.

Highly recommended.

This is the first book in the Shifters of Westerly Creek series. This can be read as a standalone but the ending is open the next book in the series. There is violence and magic.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. There are clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what will be revealed next. It definitely kept me reading. Overall it is an interesting storyline and worth taking the time to read. I look forward to reading more of KN Lee's books.

Very Interesting

This book was truly different from other paranormal books I have read. The author has done a great job of taking characters who have done some truly awful things, and made me feel sympathy for them. Made me question who is really the bad guys in this book. This is a fast paced book that starts off with an assassination. Family loyalty drives the action in this book.

When a Scarlett who is both your husband and a wizard orders you to complete a hit on criminal underworld boss Hugh Prince, Olivia Scarlett knows there's no option of saying 'no'. Its just lucky for her that she happens to be an assassin whose specialty is stealth, because killing Hugh requires specialised skills. Especially if said hit was currently occupying the pen in Woodland Creek. Being a black spider with a purple stripe down it's back and a lethal dose of venom made it somewhat easier; not being human has to come with some perks. Not that anyone other than a trained assassin would consider being able to shift into a venomous spider as a perk. Her human life with her mannerisms, tatts and piercings lead people to believe that she is a freak, even if she is a top genetic researcher in her daytime job.

Olivia nonetheless loves the power and the thrill, often wondering if it'd be better to simply live permanently in her shifted form. But, like all shifters, staying too long causes the mind to become distant and detached, leaving her brain foggy for days after returning to her human form. These were the only legacies, other than his temper and his knack for violence, that Olivia inherited from her father's drunken and abusive self; she'd never be like her weak mother, who stood by and took it all. Although the irony of marrying a man far more dangerous than her father, didn't escape her notice. Still, she pondered at what stage she'd become the assassin again, having worked at leaving her past life behind, back in Europe when she'd left. Among other reasons, she could but hope that this act would finally end of blood fued for her husband's family, her family..

The Scarlett family legacies are more than just the magic and power of the wizards, and the resources and manpower of being one of the top criminal syndicates. Whilst its little known, the family Olivia married into is closer to her biological makeup than she knows. Her mother- and sister-in-law both have the abilities of magic and those of a shifter too. Adelaide loved Wes's father and never told him, fearing he'd look upon her heritage poorly. Evie has magic like her brother Wes, but she also has dream premonitions and inherited more of her mother's nature than she'd known existed. Her heritage, if honed to it's fall potential, would afford her another layer of protection. With the murder of the Scarlett patriarch only a short time ago, and with the hit put out by Wes and the matriarch, it was now more important than ever that Evie know the full depth of her reservoir.

For as long as she can remember Evie has seen her death play out nightly. The forebodance of her mother, Adelaide, revealing the things she and Wes had done since her father died, and along with Evie's nightly terror, new meaning is given to the shivers that run down her spine. Not that Evie knows, but the latest deaths ordered in the name of the Scarlett-Prince blood fued was likely to change their lives forever, even more so than the events of the recent past. Evie has always known in some fashion what lurks in her family's metaphorical basement, even if at times that was literal as well. Her family had tried to shield her for as long as she could remember. Since her father's death though, both the shield fading and her stomach's rebellion showed her that danger is afield.

The return of the only living heir to the Prince franchise in Woodland Creek would bring an end to the secrets and the feuding. Just which ones would die, and how many would survive unscathed, were the only real questions. Whilst Evie and her plain old human boyfriend Parker, the best friend she's had since seven-years-of-age, make plans to abscond to a future filled with possibilities and wonder, retribution would sweep through the Creek. A fast-paced and exciting centre of supernatural activity, Woodland Creek has something that invites many a paranormal to its beautiful country and wooded geography. Wizards and shifters have been drawn to the town for centuries. Whilst the treaty many centuries ago that dictated the necessity for anonymity, it hasn't stopped those of supernatural ability from coming to the town; even if they can't necessarily identify one another. The rather unique collection of races compiled makes for an intriguing plot. I certainly never expected to encounter a spider shifter, and gryphons have an appeal all their own. The Scarlett Legacy is a definite worthwhile read and K.N. Lee's style of storytelling is natural and exciting. Gotta hope there'll be more!

This was a hard book to rate. We start out with the story of Olivia and Wes, and their mission to take out a rival wizard mafia lord. And it was really exciting and I thought we were really going to get to know this unusual couple. I wanted to see how they met, how they fell in love, and how the rivalry began. But we don't. We skip right over their story and right into the story of Evie.

This transition was a little confusing. We don't see how the first scene ties into her story right away and it seemed like it was all out of place. I was also unsure as to why Evie was so protected by her mother. While this was explained eventually, knowing this ahead of time, even if it was just 'reader knowledge,' would have added a nice element to how the story built. The big reveal also seemed a little forced and out of place in the rest of the plot.

It meandered along, introducing us to a few of Evie's friends, and her too good to be true boyfriend. While I enjoyed the story a lot, I think it would have been better served as two books. One with the history of Wes and Olivia leading up to the mission that starts this book, and one that was dedicated to Evie's story. I loved the dark feel to this. K.N. Lee did a great job building atmosphere and characters, I'm curious what else will be coming out of Woodland Creek.

Excited, I was. The blurb (see just below) sounds like a pretty cool concept. We've got wizardry, shape shifters, and love. What more could a girl want?

I wanted more.

Welcome to Woodland Creek, where one family of wizards gives new meaning to organized crime.

Evie Scarlett is a shy college student. She also happens to be a wizard. She wanted two things: marry Parker Drake and leave Woodland Creek and her crazy family of wizards behind.

But when Hugh Prince, a dangerous crime boss, is mysteriously murdered while awaiting trial for her father's murder, all eyes turn to the Scarlett family.

The arrival of Hugh's youngest son, Avalon brings a century-old feud to a dangerous climax. From the Old World of magic, this vengeful wizard is more powerful than anyone in her family, and gives Evie's older brother a choice: die or give Evie to him.

When Evie's plans for escape are broken by familial duty, she must find a way to protect those she loves and win back her freedom. What she finds is an ancient power that she never knew she had...and an unmistakable attraction to the man that threatens to ruin everything good in her life.
As usual, I'm probably in the minority on my taste, but whatever. That's what reviews are for.

We start off the story good. I'm pulled right in. I can't describe too much, lest I give it all away, but the first chapter is great.

Then Chapter 2 happens. This is where I get semi-lost. I read through it, not realizing until too late that I'm reading about different characters. I had thought, at first, that chapter 1 was just a dream, and chapter 2 is where she wakes up, but that didn't make sense. Duh, I tell myself, I'm reading about different people. That's why it didn't make sense. But there wasn't any adjustment to let the reader know they were getting a different prospective or POV. So, I had to start over and get my bearings.

Once I figured out the POV hops between chapters, I started to get the hang of the storyline.

And I'm intrigued, once again. Yay, right?

Well, before I know it, the story ends.

Like, seriously. It's done. Short and to the point. Lee seems to have skipped a lot of potential angst and drama by just up and letting the heroine "win." I'm sorry if that sort of spoils anything, but you should know.

So, if you want something you can read during a flight layover or a short car ride, then this is the story for you. If you don't like drawn-out plot lines, then this story is for you. If you prefer bad-assery by the heroine, then this isn't for you.

Wes has been one by one removing all the family members of the rival family in their small town, using his wife who shifts into a spider to do the dirty work for him. When the last remaining member of the rival family, Avalon, comes to town, Wes is caught off guard. Avalon has a plan set in motion and he gets what he wants.

This was an ok story. I thought the plot was good but at times I was over whelmed by the multitude of voices and side characters thrown at me in such a short setting. I usually don't like short stories but the premise sounded good and I had read another book in this multi-author series and really enjoyed it so I thought I would give it a go. Unfortunately, this story was not for me. I sped through it really fast once I was able to sit down with it, and lucky it was a short fast read because it did not really keep my attention.

My problem with this story was that is was too short for all the characters introduced. There were 3 main characters, alternating narration between them and tons of side characters, and so much going on in the plot that left holes in the story at times. There were not enough pages to really give the characters personalities and motivations that I could feel. Sure, the author told me exactly what the character felt, but I could not experience anything. I feel like this was an interesting plot and if the story could have been full length not novella size, then it would have been a really enjoyable read for me.

There was no back story between Evie and Parker, we are just told they were best friends to lovers and call each other Baby. A LOT. I don't really know anything about either of them except they love each other unconditionally... Ok. Wes and Olivia are the other couple and Olivia is madly in love with Wes, to the point of awkward worship but whatever, where as Wes likes that she is pretty and dangerous and sought her out like a business deal. Wes seemed to have more love and need for his sister, who was his reason for everything, where as he used his wife and her skills. They had such a strange inner dialogue about each other it was not what I would call romance, but to each their own.

Overall I feel pretty ambivalent towards this novella. I am sure that others will love it, but it was not for me.

I received this title from the publisher in return for my honest review.

This book took me by surprise because, I admit, I judge a book by its cover. I’m human, I let my eyes deceive me a lot. However, the cover shouldn’t discourage you because this story is amazing. So good, it’ll leave you begin for more after the last page is turned.

One thing that had me toying with my emotions was that the description, after I read it, it made me think that Evie would surely fall for this evil person, he’d redeem himself, live happily ever after, you know the rest. In reality, we are introduced to Evie’s “simple” life where she’s madly in love with Parker and is about to marry him. I thought “Pfft whatever, move to the other guy” but the story really grips your heart when this evil person comes that you don’t want her with him because, in fact, he’s actually even more evil than what you imagined, and he’s gonna cost her all her dreams and hopes.

The author presents a very interesting family theme among the Scarlett. If you are a Scarlett, you are loyal until death, no matter what you did, no matter what could happen, you all stand together. Even when I wanted to smack every single person that messed things up and had Evie sacrifice herself, I could appreciate that brave and sacrificing nature of her for her family.

Woodland Creek is a weird place. It has shifters, wizards, werewolves, and many more things that are all somehow attracted to this place by some force. I was in awe with the many magical and mythological things in the story and loved every moment of it. I think that, even if they are elements widely used by many, K.N. Lee managed to give it her own style to catch readers with her paranormal characters and small-town setting.

With sweet and semi-steamy romance, strange mythological creatures, and evil plots, this story is one for lovers of anything paranormal and romance. I started to read this by curiosity while I was doing a final work. Instead of do research and finish it, I was reading this until the wee hours of the night. Definitely worth trying. And maybe even some of the other Woodland Creek novellas by others authors too.
