Hapless
All Ty wants is to propose to his boyfriend, Micah, before Christmas Eve. He has the perfect ring, the perfect setting, and the perfect plan, but the universe has other ideas. This is one adorably fluffy Christmas story.
Ty is a freelance romance editor (I loved the jokes about "moist caves"--ew!) who's trying to find the perfect way to propose to his boyfriend of 3 years, free spirited nurse Micah. Unfortunately, Ty apparently really sucks at planning proposals. Everything that can go wrong, does, until almost every goes completely pear shaped.
It's funny and warm and sexy and almost put me in the mood for the holidays.
It's like a Christmas miracle!

I really liked the differences between Ty and Micah -- Ty is more planned and he really likes perfection (even that words are repeated several times here!) while Micah is more disorganized and free-spirited. Ty's whole plans to propose are of course going down to the dust, and I chuckled a couple of times because it was clear the universe was against Ty making things going flawlessly. Yep, this was cute, I loved established couple!
... and if I read this short story while thinking of certain couple from a certain fandom, well, that was the icing on the cake for me *wink*

So funny, I was laughing all the way through. Some great writing and the story was pretty cute as well. I really liked the characters in this one.

What a perfect story! Funny, romantic, and completely delightful, this tale of Ty wanting to make the proposal to his boyfriend Micah absolutely, positively “perfect” had me in stitches one moment, and desperate that Ty would never make it the next. I shared his abject horror at all his mishaps, was right there when he came up with another “perfect” idea, and couldn’t wait to see what would go wrong next time. Because by the second attempt I was sure the author would keep regaling me with more disasters, and yet she did it in a way that assured me that Ty was going to succeed – somehow. How could he not? His persistence in the face of adversity was admirable!
Ty is a bit of a perfectionist. What am I saying? He is the definition of perfectionist and determined not to become a cliché and propose on Christmas Eve. I could relate to him not wanting to do the expected, but the lengths he goes to just to avoid it are impressive. And all along the one thing that becomes clearer in his mind is how much he loves Micah, and Micah’s reactions showed me how much Micah loves him back. Ty, of course, missed this point entirely because he was too busy despairing at yet another misadventure. And then the catastrophe of the final proposal happens and I stopped breathing. Very rarely has a happy ending been squeezed from such a tight and seemingly impossible situation. Wow!
If you like Christmas romances with a lot of humor, if you can relate to a perfectionist trying to make everything, well, perfect for the love of his life, and if you’re looking for a read that is as funny as it is romantic, then you will probably like this short story as much as I did. It’s going straight to my favorites folder!

Abso-fucking-lutely adorable. Gah, like sucking down a hot fudge Sunday when the fudge is still all warm and gooey. Leaves you warm and sticky and probably well on your way to a sugar coma…but you don’t care.
Because it is so totally good.

So basically the whole thing revolves around Ty and his many (failed) attempts to pop the all important question to his boyfriend Micah. Thru a series of highly comical failures we get to know the couple and basically fall into mushy goo over their cuddly awesomeness.
If it isn’t blatantly obvious, I adored this cute Christmas story. I’m a big fan of Therese Woodson, and this book is just everything I love about her writing. Whether you are picking up the whole advent collection or not, I totally recommend you add this story to your Christmas reading this year.

Adorably fluffy and sweet. I loved these characters from start to finish and everything that made Ty lose his shit as he's trying to make the perfect proposal happen are the things that make he and Micah perfect together. The author did a great job of showing and not telling how the two of them fit with their little interactions and observations. It made me mushy and happy.
Bonus points for the reference to there's a monster at the end of this book! I loved this book when I was a small and who doesn't love Grover? I mean, it's Grover FFS, he makes any story better.

A charming rom com, this. Felt a tad like being part of a bigger picture instead of standalone, with reader expected to already know about Micah and Ty (I just assumed these were a pair starting new adult life in Washington, which later on got confirmed: Micah a nurse and Ty an editor). And the way too elaborated tries on proposing... very sitcom material. But I (almost) always make an exception for holidays story. Plus, this one is angst-free.

This was so fun on a totally awkward and uncomfortable level. Poor Ty, all he wanted was the perfect proposal for Micah and everything that could go wrong did. It was comical and romantic, each of his attempts and that end was absolutely perfect.

REVIEW @Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words
The cuteness of this story! Ty and Micah are together from three years and Ty is thinking is finally time for him to ask his lover to marry him. But he wants to do it in a magic and unusual way. It was funny and hilarious following him in his unbelievable misadventures with his various attempts at propose to Micah.
Maybe the ending was a little predictable but I don’t care cause it was perfect for this story.
I particularly liked how the author, Therese Woodson, was able to put a focus on the MCs’ qualities, two young men so different in their characters but so alike in their strong love for each other.
Hapless was a very well done story about this established couple I would love to know more about.
The cover art by Paul Richmond is so cute and his style is unique and lovely. He’s one of my favorite artist so of course this one is a winner to me.

This was an unbelievable tale of everything that could go wrong, did. I can't believe how many things stopped Ty from proposing to Micah. I have to admit I would have went ahead and done it on a few of them. I kinda understand what Ty was going for though.
The book was fun and sometimes comedic short story. It had two nice guys that were in love and a ton of mishaps. The romance was there in everything Ty did for Micah and that made the story worth reading.

A cute short story about the perils of waiting for that perfect moment to do something momentous. The story teaches us that life never goes as planned, and to grab hold of even the less-than-perfect moments because those moments are usually all we're given. Lemonade out of lemons, and what not.

As Christmas approaches, Ty doesn’t want to make his proposal a cliche but he may have no choice. Will Ty be able to give the perfect proposal or will everyone and everything get in the way of making Micah his husband?
This was a SUPER CUTE story! I just loved that Ty was having so many issues trying to propose to Micah. He just wasn’t having any luck when he tried to plan the perfect proposal! And the ending was just too adorable with Micah. My only issue is that I didn’t really understand Ty’s adamance with not wanting to propose on Xmas Eve or Xmas. That seemed a little ridiculous to me.
All in all, though, a very fun, adorable rom com. I just loved all Ty’s attempts and how they were all thwarted. I loved Ty and Micah together and really hope this isn’t the last we see of them. I’d especially like to see them when they first met! Definitely recommended if you’re looking for something short, sweet and entertaining!

I usually really like this authors books so I grabbed this one despite the proposal theme not really being my thing. It was maybe a tad sweet for my tastes but the guys were really adorable together. Ty is totally head over heels crazy for his boyfriend Micah. He wants to propose by he thinks it’s too cliché to do it on Christmas. It’s not just that. He wants to marry him and spend forever with him. So he puts pressure on himself to do it and do it right. What results is a string of chaos.
Despite Ty being super sweet he came off as kind of a mess. He over thinks it all but obvious things escape his notice. He becomes so focused on the proposal he gets kind of crazy. It’s a short so I think that helped it not go overboard into the unrealistic realm. A lot goes wrong. The guys are totally in love and adorable together. You know for sure Micah will say yes if Ty can just manage pop the question already. Weirdly my favorite part was Micah’s relationship with his sister. The back and forth was pretty funny. I enjoyed this one.

In lieu of writing reviews – I’m taking an extended break – I decided to leave this list showing the reasons for the stars I’ve given to the stories I’ve read.
5 Stars – Given to stories that had me falling in love with the characters, had me so engaged in the plot I couldn’t put the book down and stories that either made me cry buckets and/or laugh until I cried.
4 Stars– Given to stories that I REALLY enjoyed reading but had me wishing for just a bit more.
3 Stars – Given to stories that I thought were worth the read but they didn’t knock my socks off.
2 Stars – Given to stories that didn’t work for me. I couldn’t connect to the MCs or feel any sort of connection between them. I couldn’t follow the plot or there wasn’t a plot. Every so often one of these stories just needs work to fix what went wrong but mostly 2 star reads are stories that leave me wondering why I kept reading until the end.
1 Star - I RARELY give out 1 Star so when I do it means the story was a complete train wreck.
I know what I may love another reader may wonder what the hell I was thinking and vise versa but I’m okay with that!

This holiday novella was so cute and sweet!
So Ty just wants to propose to his boyfriend Micah but he wants it to be romantic and he is very nervous. Well every time he got ready to ask him let's just say something would happen where he was stopped from being able to ask.
You really can not help feeling bad for Ty because he was really trying so hard to make this romantic and special for Micah. I just loved the way this author wrote these characters and this story. You could feel the love between Micah and Ty. This was such a sweet story of one man who loves his boyfriend so much he just wants to propose to him before Christmas.
All together I really loved this story!

This story was absolutely wonderful. I immediately fell in love with Ty and Micah and loved the all the antics of Ty trying to purpose to Micah. The was this was the type of story that just warms your heart and you just have to keep reading in hopes that he finds a way. And oh my god the ending was superb and I just didn’t want it to end. It just came across as a beautiful Christmas story and gives you the warn fuzzes.

a sweet perfectionist attempts to give his hockey-playing beau a romantic, holiday proposal to remember
From the description, I thought this story might not be the type I would like, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The repeated attempts to propose came across as sweet, earnest, and realistically disastrous. Despite the overwhelming presence of this plot device dominating the short story, the ending still seemed nicely sweet and romantic and the characters' chemistry boiled nicely (if a bit schmatzly).

Another winner by this author! Short but totally adorable! Poor Ty has several very realistic mishaps trying to propose, and Micah is his very sweet, sometimes goofy, but always loving boyfriend. Another wonderful holiday read!

This is a sweet slapstick comedy. Sometimes it takes a lot to get two special guys to their happily ever after.
