I have a great idea for the ending to this series. I think that Logan should sail away from the island, meet a sweet girl on the mainland, head to college, plan a future . . . and the rest of the island and all those on it should slowly sink into the sea, sparing the rest of us from their rotten personalities and ridiculously mean-spirited drama. Erg! I have never felt so irritated with an entire book of characters as I am with this series. At this point in the series the people reading these books are either die-hard fans (notice all the five star ratings!) or people like me who continue to buy the books because we are suckers for finishing out the series we begin, no matter what. I have never loved this series, but I didn't really start hating things until book five. Unfortunately, the bad taste left in my mouth after that book is still lingering, so I'm afraid it affected my experience reading this book. I don't want to dislike these books. Behind all of the things I don't like it a potentially interesting, unique story. Unfortunately it is lost in this sea of melodrama that swirls and swirls and swirls all over the place, never actually taking us anywhere.

I feel like all of my issues with this book are similar to my issues with book five, so I won't spend forever explaining everything all over again, but here are my main complaints:

1. Skyla -- Is there any more annoying, whiny, witchy, mean-spirited, hateful first person narrator in literature? I can't imagine. I realize that she has a lot of problems that have been forced on her. She has a rotten family, a rotten set of "friends," a life that never stays stable from one minute to the next. I get it. But what has always made me love characters I read about in other books is when main characters face their problems with strength and integrity. What does Skyla do? She plans horrible revenges. She calls people names. She meanders from Boy #1 to Boy #2 to Boy #3, and sometime even Boy #4 without the least amount of guilt. She gripes and gripes and gripes about the situation she finds herself in. She approaches her problems by creating bigger problems and leaving others to clean up the mess.

2. Skyla's family -- The drama of Skyla's family was highly irritating to read. Her step-father is horribly mentally abusive to her. Her mother is having an affair right under everyone's noses. Her younger sister and step-sister are behaving in ways that no thirteen year-old girls should be behaving. Her step-brother is the worst example of a baby-daddy in history. The constant fighting, bickering, belittling, etc. was maddening to read. What horrible people! Was I supposed to feel sorry for Skyla after reading about them? I don't know. She was just as bad as them half the time. Ugh!

3. The students at Skyla's high school. I'm sure there must have been some well-behaved students with an ounce of integrity in this school. Surely there had to be. But they did not exist at all in this novel. The students were selfish, involved in often illegal, and usually irresponsible behavior. Where were the adults supervising this island? Was I supposed to look up to any of these people. They were all a mess.

4. The "bad guys." Chloe was awful. Absolutely awful! So that makes her the perfect bad guy, right? No. I have no interest in reading about characters that are pure evil. In my opinion the characteristics that make up a good villain are enough normality to make them layered. I like to read about exactly what makes them tick, and I am interested in them as characters when they seem a bit normal at times. In some ways that makes them scarier. Chloe was just so bad that she ended up being boring to me. I knew that when she showed up something awful was going to happen to Skyla. It was so predictable. It seems like if she was that predictably evil it would make sense for Skyla to avoid her. But no. She just constantly ended up doing things in her vicinity. Why does Skyla continue to take part in the cheer squad when EVERY SINGLE other girl on this squad is hateful, vindictive, and dangerous in some way to her? Why? Either get an adult to stop the terrible behavior, or QUIT THE TEAM!!!

5. The love triangle/square/pentagon. I have always liked Logan from the very beginning of this series. He seemed like he was the only person in this world with an ounce of maturity. Even when it seemed as if he might have been working for the other side, I never quite believed in his guilt. I could always feel the natural connection between Skyla and him. Of course, I have always believed that he could do MUCH better, but still, I guess I was rooting for this relationship to win out for this series. But there is Gage as well. I don't know what to think about the events of the ending of this book. I seriously do not quite understand what was going on there. Where does Gage stand in all this? I don't know. He has seemed to be another point of normality in these books, so that ending threw me a bit. But Skyla and Gage's relationship seemed so forced to me. Instead of feeling their connection I was forced to read about how "perfect" and "amazing" the relationship was over and over and over again. I couldn't make my own conclusions; I had to have the awesomeness of their couplehood pounded over my head constantly. I was so sick of hearing about how they were meant for each other -- even as her heart pined for Logan/Marshall/Ellis????? on the side. And the "engagement"? What the heck was that all about? These are seventeen year old kids! I realize that they are in a crazy sort of universe, but if my seventeen year old daughter came home and announced her engagement after popping from boyfriend to boyfriend on a weekly basis, I don't think I would have thrown an engagement party right away while squealing away with joy. I might have sat her down to have a discussion to see if this was really the wisest decision to make at such a volatile time in her life. But, whatever. And Marshall? I don't know. Sometimes he seemed okay. Sometimes he was horrible. Most of the time he was just plain creepy. I mean, he is her teacher! Yuck! And what was with her ponderings about what life might be like as Ellis's wife? That was out of left field. Overall, as I've said in other books in this series -- none of them deserve her. She is a romantic mess.

6. The soap opera of a plot. If they made a soap opera with a paranormal twist, this would be it. Drama. Drama. Drama. Lots of fighting. Lots of crying. Lots of proclamations of undying love. Cliff hangers. It had it all. The one thing that drove me nuts was, like in other books in this series, a chapter would end with a major cliff hanger. Then I would quickly turn the page to often find this phrase to begin the next chapter: The next morning . . . Really? If you end a chapter with a huge plot twist you should have the courtesy to acknowledge that at the beginning of the next page. Instead I was constantly left in a state of confusion, and that got annoying after a bit.

7. The lack of growth in ANYONE. Six books. Six freaking books! And Skyla is still mostly in the dark about her powers. The characters are still flailing around trying to determine their spot in this world. The same cat fights are taking place. The relationships are still completely dysfunctional. Nothing changes! Give me something to read for. At least give me a better understanding of what is going on in this world. I have bought and read six books and feel like I am just as clueless about this world as I was at the end of book one . . . only now I hate the characters a thousand times more because their stupidity is the only thing that seems to develop at all as the plot moves along.

8. The overly done language of the book. There are some writers who do an amazing job describing the world they create in books. Maggie Stiefvater in The Wolves of Mercy Falls series or Julie Kagawa in the Iron Fey series come to my mind. They use beautiful language to wrap the scenes of a book around me as I read. In this book too often I was drawn out of the story because of the descriptions Moore used. It seemed as if she was trying too hard to create something beautiful with her language, and it came out as overdone or hokey at times. The images just didn't work for me.

This book was waaaaaay too long. I don't mind reading long books. . . if they are good ones. But this book seemed to just go on and on and on, never really leading me anywhere. Ultimately I was waiting and waiting for Logan to find a way back to his body, and that kept me reading, but the reality was that I just felt as if I was still waiting for something to happen that would get this faction war under way. If I felt as if this book was a time for Skyla to train and prepare, to hone her skills, I could have lived with that. But she doesn't seem to be getting any more talented, smarter, or stronger. She just continues to exist, making mistake after mistake as more and more people are hurt or killed in her wake. It is time to get this series to the main event. I've had enough of Skyla's whining about her rotten life. I am ready to see just how she and Logan are meant to end this war with a victory.

Will I buy the next (hopefully last) book in this series? Yes. Even with my great disappointment in the last two books I have read, I still hold out hope that I will be pleasantly surprised with the ending of this series. They are ebook priced, so it isn't a terrible waste of money. I will just keep my fingers crossed that a resolution with arrive with book number seven.

As much as I hate to not finish a book (or a series), I am finally calling it quits with this one. I made it to about 30% of this book, and I got so bored of the same thing over and over and over and OVER AND OVER again that I just stopped reading it. This book is a repeat of the last three. Nothing has changed. No character growth, no movement of the "plot," nothing.

Here is the plot of the entire series. Just jumble the order up, mix and mash, REPEAT (over and OVER) until you get to 100 chapters of awfulness, hit publish:

*Skyla makes out with Gage
*Skyla makes out with Logan
*Skyla makes out with Marshall
*Inner monologue about Skyla wanting to lose her virginity to (insert Gage, Logan, Marshall here)
*Skyla goes to a party
*Skyla argues with (insert Chloe, Tad, Demetri, Marshall, Gage, Logan here)
*Skyla briefly mentions the faction war
*Skyla randomly teleports to some angel world and has a totally pointless conversation with some totally pointless character
*Skyla attacks (and/or kills) someone for no reason

That's it. That's six books of Celestra in a nutshell.

The author has said there will be probably 2 more books, and I don't think I want to subject myself to that kind of torture just to see how it ends (plus, I'll save the $8 to buy something that's actually good).

This series would be so much better if a good editor took a red pen and struck out about 60% of the entire thing. Actually, I lied. Even that wouldn't save this series full of unlikeable and unrealistic characters. It also won't save the terrible writing that is WAY overloaded with some of the most idiotic metaphors I have ever seen.

Skyla is the most terribly written, boring, unlikeable, immature, rude bitch of a protagonist I've ever had the displeasure of reading. She is the sluttiest virgin in "print," that's for sure. About 50% of this book (and all previous) is filled with pages upon pages of Skyla kissing (and sometimes going further) different boys alongside inner monologue of how she can't wait to lose her virginity. She often will nearly have sex with one boy, then two pages (aka a chapter) later, be nearly having sex with another. She has 3 (sometimes 4) different ones she alternates between. She seems to have no remorse for her behavior either. At this point, I don't even care who she ends up with.

Skyla's behavior in the other 50% of the book is just so absurd that I don't think I can even do it justice without quoting huge chunks of the book (which I don't want to subject anyone else to). She murders people without remorse and for seemingly no reason without any consequences. She spends all of her free time trying to lose her virginity or attending parties where every teenager is completely wasted (alcohol, narcotics, both).

Her love interests waver so much from chapter to chapter that I have whiplash trying to keep it all straight. She's with Logan, then she's with Gage, then she's making out with Marshall, then she's flirting with Ellis. In this book, she literally goes on for four pages about how she is so in love with Logan, and the very next page she is making out with Gage saying how they will be together forever.

Her family is over the top. They are so ridiculously over the top that it's almost comical, except instead it's just stupid. Her step-dad is still nonstop raging. Her mother is still acting like an idiot. Her sisters have "grown up" and are now acting exactly like Skyla (slutty and stupid). Still not sure how her whole family are Counts (evil angel people) but they don't act like it at all. Then again...

The faction war seems like it is supposed to be this huge plot point, but the author spends so little time on it that I often forget it's even going on. There are random 3 page chapters about it that come out of nowhere and I read them going "huh??" because I had totally forgotten all of that was happening in the background.

I can't take it anymore and I give up!

This book drove me crazy, I am now only reading the series purely out of dedication to what I started (I'm not a quitter). Don't get me wrong, the dialog is fantastic! I love the funny things Skyla says, and the diverse characters. But is it just me or she getting more and more ignorant? I get that is kind of the premise of the series, she's just a high school girl trying to do the right thing... but come on. Some of the things that go on are even a bit 'too' extreme for her to just blow off and keep going on like it meant nothing. This series is now mind junk to me. She is kissing everyone and their mother, SO in love with Gage, yet can't get over Logan and is still seeing him. MAKE A DECISION! Don't even get me started on Marshall. She doesn't take his warnings seriously, and somehow still gets away with everything. It is unlike me to ever skip pages, but with this book I got about a quarter way in and was so bored with the typical twists and turns and not much of anything happening that I skipped to the last few pages just to see what happened. Surprise, looks like there will be another one. Hopefully the next one will give some answers.

I'm extremely disappointed with this one. I don't even know what to do with myself. I'm so pissed! I found myself screaming at Skyla for most of the book because she's just so stupid...and not in the good way. I understand that she's young but how many times is she going to make the same mistake over and over and OVER again. She allows her emotions to get the best of her and she makes decisions based on said emotions with thinking of a consequences. In the first 5 books, she got a pass from me. But really, can she just think about what's happened to her and the people around her when she starts spouting off at the mouth. I mean 75% of the book was based on the fact that she made this pact with Ezrina knowing full well that agreements with these beings don't come witout a price. Yet she continues to do so. It makes me crazy!

And don't get me started on Gage and Logan. She needs to pick one and let the other one go. If she says one more time "He is my forever!"...it makes me think she's trying to convince herself of something. Logan needs to stop playing with her affections. He knows she loves him. He doesn't need to say it over and over and OVER again. I think the best person for her is Marshall. He's never lied to her and is always a straight shooter.

As crazy as Skyla makes me, I'm invested and I will read the next one hoping she get a clue but I fear she won't.

I'm so mad, I don't know what to say!! But in a good way. Like the I'm-so-mad-you-better-get-me-Book-7-in-a-hurry way!!

*MILD SPOILERS, MAYBE*

This is really a 4.5 - can't do a 5 because of the ending. I personally do not believe the hype surrounding my poor Gage.

Mind boggling, super long (which I love) and tons of twists and turns - a few times I had to re-read pages to make sure I got the in-your-face-ness of the moment. I like that Skyla finally realizes what an emotional slut she's been, and that she gets called out. Also love that she doesn't get off scott-free (what does that even mean, scot-free?).

Also, I agree with other reviewers that I need some answers in the next book. The last couple have only put out more questions, no answers. There's like 27 billion things to get answers for and it's getting jumbled. Plus, I'm going crazy because I literally don't know who is good and who is bad anymore - for anyone. I suspect every single person of being a double agent at this point.

ANNNNDDDDDD...WTF is up with the ending????????? I love cliff-hangers, but holy cow - not when it involves Gage like that!! NEED BOOK 7 NOW!!! Team Gage all the way!

*****UPDATED****

Dammit seriously?!? I thought this was the last book!!! Of course it would have a stupid cliffhanger with no mention as to when the 7th book is supposed to debut. I've spent so much time on this series, I don't want to drag it out longer. Do I want to know what happens to these characters? Yes. Will my world end if I forget about this series? No. This is all becoming very drawn out and complex. I think 6 books is plenty, and this damn story still isn't finished... and things are getting a bit ridiculous now. There are much better authors out there that can convey a better story than this in shorter time. At this point you just have to assume she's in it for the money. More books = more money so the author is gonna squeeze every penny possible from this series.
I'm still not sold on Skyla. I mean, she makes me laugh sometimes, but mostly I feel like if she were standing in front of me I would just slap her silly. And this whole faction war... just.get.it.over.with. Not to mention this damn love triangle/square going on with Skyla, Gage, Logan, and now she has real feelings for Marshall too. Holy shit just pick one already!! Three guys?! Really?!? Three guys supposedly madly in love with you, and you can't help but rely on all of them to clean up your messes. Granted, Skyla constantly creates messes, so I can see why she would need a whole team of men to help her. I have to say, almost every character in these books have pissed me off at one point, or they do constantly. Also, I hate Skyla's whole family... including her half the time. Grrr, I'm just aggravated and all I'm left with is more questions and no satisfaction. This whole series has been a tease... it's a lot of foreplay and no climax (Much like Skyla's love life). If I happen to not have a lot going on book-wise when this next book comes out, I 'might' entertain the idea of reading it, but I sure as hell won't be holding my breath!

3/26/12
Ok, so I'm still reading, but I have had these characters in my mind for a few weeks, trying to figure out which celebrities they look like... so here are my ideas/examples.

~Logan = super hot dreamboat, so I see him as Alex Pettyfur.
~Gage I see as a more subdued hotness, so Darren Cross or Josh Hucherson (I don't think I'm sold on him as Peeta Mellark, but I can see him totally as Gage.)
~Skyla could totally be Britt Robertson or Emilia Clarke but blonde.
~Brielle as Aly Michalka or Anna Kendrick
~Ellis is Dave Franco. Period. Every time I read about him I see Dave in my mind.
~Chloe is Phoebe Tonkin or Odette Annable.

I'll keep thinking, and have my review soon when I finish.

I must say i don't know why i am still reading these books. It's not that i don't like them, it's more like i'm reading them out of dedication than anything else.
You see, if the series gets past like the fourth or fifth book, i find that it kind of unravels downhill.
Despite that, it was a rather good read. Usually i like the main character, but with Skyla, im not too sure. I mean, she tries to do what's best and everything, but it's like she just keeps messing up. It' like there's no end. I did like the twists and turns of this book though and im still harboring the suspicsion that Tad knows exactly what's going on, although i can never be sure. It was really weird to me that Skyla JUST NOW figures out that Marshall is in love with her after he's been pawing her for the last few books. I loved that Skyla at least had one humane civilized talk with her mother as well.
I think one part of this book that makes it a little more interesting for me was the idea of a love rectangle. Fate's on one guy's side...although im not sure i believe exactly what Marshall is thinking yet.
Logan and gage? Well let me just say im still rooting for gage. Who in the world would go for marshall?

This book doesn't even deserve the 1 Star I gave it... I began this series at Christmas and finished all five books within a week or so I was hyped up waiting for this book (even chose it over another favourite book) so I was majorly disappointed with this book! First what the hell's with the love square crap? Logan just needs to get out the picture and Marshall's just creepy!! Skyla is a slut and needs to keep her legs and mouth shut - She's undeserving of Gage! Another thing wrong with this book; I could not understand the ending with Gage? I mean WTF? He's been working with Chloe??? I'm seriously confused about that bit!!! Also, I'm sick of Skyla talking about her future - It's Gage, no it's Logan, no it's Gage; make up your mind girl thats just greedy!
I'm even starting to like Chloe more at least she knows what she wants; she only wants Gage not both...
I hate to say it as I hate abandoning series but I think this will be the last book in the Celestra Series as reading more will jsut infuriate more... This series is just too dragged out for my liking...

EXPEL (Celestra #6) YA (New Release) by Addison Moore

EXPEL is the 6th instalment in Addison Moore’s Young Adult Celestra series. Released March 22, 2012, Expel continues the adventures of 17-year old Skyla Messenger and her triumphs and failures as a young teen trying to navigate a world of demons, angels, possessions and the love of 3 men. What we all wouldn’t give to have 3 beautiful men who adored and worship the ground on which we walk. And just to add more company to the misery already inflicted upon her young life, there are others standing in line, in the hopes of gaining access to the next Queen of the Celestra.

Skyla continues to be her own worst enemy. Although Chloe is still valiantly trying to destroy Skyla’s life, Skyla once again ignores the warnings from Marshall Dudley, Logan and Gage Oliver, and Candace her birth mother—all in the name of spunky independence and teenage melt-down. Facing a faction war with the Counts and the Fems, Skyla inadvertently tosses the coin that forces a loss for the Celestra changing their odds in the win/loss column. Untrained and without the knowledge she requires, Skyla is drawn into a war that she is not prepared. Lives are lost and those that are responsible seem possessed to otherwise stop. When Candace warns Skyla that her actions could end the lives of many Sectors and Celestra, Skyla refuses to acknowledge that she will be the cause of so much sorrow and pain. Like most teens, she thinks the warnings are exaggerations and ploys to keep her under control.

At the end of VEX (book 5) both Gage and Logan are ‘killed’ when they are struck by Skyla’s Mustang, and it is Skyla who will sacrifice both her blood and her body to resurrect the loves of her life. And witness statements cannot account for a driver, but accusations and innuendo will cause much grief for their families. But warning Skyla that she is treading into dangerous territory only invokes another round of teenage petulance and enough attitude that her actions will cost her more than she is willing to give. Bargaining for the return of someone close, will force Skyla into a deal with Ezrina that she may never be able to repay.

Skyla’s ongoing defiance will once again, place everyone she loves in danger. And the Landon/Messenger household becomes a battleground between family members, when her sisters start growing up too fast. Drake and Brielle’s pending parenthood looms closer, but it is Holden’s spirit that will continue to invade every aspect of Skyla’s life. From brother to lover, to friend and foe, Holden’s presence continues to haunt Skyla. As the household grows, so does the mistrust and anxiety between child and parent. And having an ally in Ellis may not necessarily be all that she bargained for. As a young Count, his familial connections could help destroy both of their lives.

Marshall Dudley’s continued pursuit of Skyla grows stronger and his need for the young Celestra becomes increasingly obvious. His power and influence over Skyla, pushes the teen to rebel. And it is Marshall’s reluctance to back down that Skyla perceives as control. Skyla’s defiance and unwillingness to heed the warnings will risk the lives of everyone she loves. It is the glimpses into the future that have Skyla confused. Although each and every scene will come into fruition, it is the circumstances that will continue to allude. Not everything that Marshall shows, will follow a predictable series of events.

Demetri Edinger continues to prowl the Landon household hoping to re-capture someone from his past, but his motives may not be one of love or lust. And a mirror with the ability to grant all that one desires, shows Skyla more than she is willing to see. It is Demetri’s relationship with Chloe that will force Skyla to open her eyes and see the truth. But to open your heart and realize that your love has been manipulated, will force Skyla to make a decision that will cost more than her heart’s desire but quite possibly her life.

Once again, Addison writes a fast paced storyline with many twists and turns. The back and forth relationship between Skyla and Logan, as well as Skyla and Gage will be tested on many occasion, but like the scene from the movie Carrie, prom night will be one long disaster. It is Skyla’s defiance against authority that has risked everyone she loves and her meddling in the past will risk everyone in the future.

2 STARS!!

I think I'm starting to get really frustrated with this series. I feel as if the author is dragging this series out, when it could've ended a couple of books ago. I'm so tired of Skyla going from Gage to Logan then running back to Marshal and vice versa. She still hasn't picked who she wants to be with between these three guys. Its so annoying!!!!

At one point, I was skipping through the book because I got so bored. In my opinion, these books are starting to repeat themselves. Nothing has changed at all. The characters are still the same. I would think by book 6 all the characters would've had some type of growth, but no that hasn't happened at all. The only reason why I keep reading these books is because I want to see exactly how its going to end. I will say the ending of this book was very shocking. The ending was the only thing that was great about this book.

Overall, I'm not impressed with this series anymore, but I should at least see how its going to end since I've been reading this series for so long.

As people who know me can attest, I am a die hard Celestra fan. I love this series. The first thing I do every Tuesday morning is check out the teasers on Addison's FB page. I bought this book as soon as I could find the link. I am constantly tagging her page when people ask for book recommendations. Whenever I am this excited about a book release, I always worry that I will be let down. Often I am. With this series, I never have been. I loved this book!!

Here are some things I loved about it:

*Expel was well thought out. It linked to things that happened in each of the books and no matter what twist was thrown at you, it made sense and was consistent.

*Marshall. Yes, I said Marshall. You really saw a different side of him in this book and to be honest, I like him a lot more now. He is still Marshall, but he has redeeming qualities and I feel I understand him better.

*This book answered a lot of questions I have had through the book. One of those answers broke my heart, but I knew when I I asked it, that it would.

*Once again I found myself laughing out loud at parts of this book. I really seem to connect with the author's sense of humor.

*The story line really made some significant progress. Often when I read a series that has many books, I feel like some of them should be combined because they really do nothing for the storyline. I have never felt this way with this series.

*This book was long. Not insanely, "How am I am never going to be able to finish it?" long, but "Wow, this was so worth the wait and I really got many hours of enjoyment out of this book." long.

*The writing is simply wonderful. I enjoy how Addison weaves her words. Her voice as an author is unique and simply enjoyable. I find myself highlighting away as I read. She writes the way I wish I could speak.

*She introduces a new potential character named Delphinius. I know it is silly, but I never see any version of my name in a book. It made me smile.

I wish I was part of a discussion group for this book. There is so much I would love to discuss. It made me laugh and broke my heart. It took me to familiar territory and shocked my by ending up places I could never have imagined. I completely understand why Fox is interested in turning this into a television series. ARGH! I thought this was the last book! This needed to be the last book... but I realized somewhere about 3/4 through the book that there were so many loose ends still left to take care of that it might not be...but I battled forward hoping I was wrong... and then...at the cusp of the cliffhanger ending, I hung my head in defeat. There will be another...

This series has so much promise and the characters are vivid and the ideas behind the Immortals are intriguing and imaginative... but as an adult, who is years beyond my young adult days, I find the repetitive "who do I love" "Oh I love him forever" "No him" "No him"...make out sessions that fill 2/3s of the pages a bit tiring. I love the story's heart... I do, the imaginative storyline of the Immortals holds so much promise and I absolutely adore Logan and Gage... Ellis... and even Marshall...and I suppose...well with Skyla it's a love hate feeling there, but I really think the series has drawn out a few books too many. I'll hang on til the end because I've invested my need to know who she chooses... but really...it's past time she figures it out!

I went back and forth about posting my review, because I did stumble over several, fairly large, plot divots (I love this series too much to call them plot holes) while reading this book that have not yet been addressed in other reviews. But this is my favorite fantasy series, and the author is such an awesome person—I just don’t have the ♥ to do it. I will go to the source and hopefully get my questions answered (or I will just be very lost when Book 7 is released).
oh well

I would give EXPEL 2.5 stars if half-star ratings were allowed, but I’m going to stay within the parameters provided (I like following the rules...most of the time). I’m just going to give it a solid 3 and then exit stage left lol.

I literally just finished and I want to scream! I don't think I have ever been so pissed (Gage- even though I was expecting him to be an ass) and I absolutely hate Chloe. But DAMN what a great read. You have once again out done yourself Addison! I am still a huge Marshall fan but Logan...you might have swayed my heart this time ***I must also add- Tad!!! Ugh, I want to punch him in the throat and what's with Lizbeth? She needs to be a mom and put Tad in his place. This family is all sorts of dysfunctional. No wonder Skyla has such a hard time choosing who to give her love to. I could go on and on. Addison's dialog and witty banter is still spot on. I love the flow of these books. There is no lull, I never once found myself skimming or skipping lines. I was on pins and needles the entire book. I could not put it down.

I will be not so patiently waiting for book 7

These are starting to get completely ridiculous... I really liked the first few but now it's just being dragged out without the story actually going anywhere. Just pick a boy for gods sake, who knew a virgin could be such a slut, honestly the way Skyla has been written makes me hate her more than Chloe Bishop, at least Chloe knows she's evil, embraces it and rides with it. Skyla plays the holier than thou card and keeps 4 men on a lead, despite none of those men being allowed to wander and fall in love with someone else. She's greedy, selfish and awful to read about. Really starting to hope they don't make this book into a film or show.

Insert scream here: SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM!!!!! I have NEVER had such a rollercoaster ride - feuds, deaths, possessions, romance, betrayal and the mother of all cliffhanger endings...the ending. It broke my heart!! I never saw it coming, not in a million years. Let's just say that Chloe's master plan - the plan she worked on before she died - all falls into place, and there may just be a well-placed traitor in Skyla's midst. Too many feels!! Going to go snack on some Allen's Lollies...and try and hold out my fangirling until the next book!!

This series continues to surprise me with plenty of imaginative twists and turns.

High school hell continues with plenty of lovefest horrors, sneaky backstabbing guys, girls, the bold and the beautiful. And let's not leave out plenty of home time drama.

They might be angels but they're definitely in disguise and let's face it, the road to hell is full of good intentions.

I have however decided to finish up this series here. It's started to become circular and I've rather got sick of the same repeated scenarios. The series has been a great read and ended the quadraped lovefest where I want it to be.

This book dragged out horribly. I thought it was the last in the series so I stuck with it, but I'm super disappointed at where it went. This has turned into another House of Night for me. Not bad at first but due to stupid plot turns and even stupider main characters I don't think I have it in me to read the 7th (I won't say last because she'll probably pull a book 8 our of her rear). The author's name says it all "Moore" is what I was looking for.

Where to begin, where to begin? Here's the skinny on how I feel about this book. It completely drove me nuts, made me laugh, made me swoon, made me love Marshall even more, I have a softer spot for Logan again, and it BROKE MY HEART! Needless to say, I was a hot mess reading this book. In fact, I'm always a mess when I read this series. So why do I continue to read this series, you ask? Because it's fantastic!!!!

Skyla cracks me up and simultaneously drives me crazy. She's one of my most favorite book females. I love her sense of humor and I love the passion she has with Gage AND Logan. She's pretty great with Marshall too. It's funny to me, that she seems to see Marshall clearly, but when it comes to those Oliver boys...ROSE COLORED GLASSES. I mean, I can't really blame her. They are pretty fantastic. Although, I was very upset by the end of this book.

I could probably write a book on my thoughts on the Oliver boys, but I'll save your eyes. I'll simply say this, I love them dearly and I want to have Gage's babies. Yes, I really said that. Logan even grew on me this time. I believe his feelings for Skyla are genuine. He seems to be loyal to her and wants to honestly be with her. We shall see what happens I suppose.

You could say I have a few gripes about this book, like that fact that it drove me nuts, I still hate Chloe, and it was really long. Overall though, I love the story and love the series. I'm a loyal fan to the end! Not to mention the fact that Addison Moore pulls you in to these characters lives so completely. Her writing really is something special. If you haven't started this series yet...what are you waiting for? It will suck you in and twist you up! Go get it!

Though I enjoyed reading Expel, as I do all Addison Moore's books in the Celestra series, I had to knock a couple stars off for how repetitive this series has become. Skyla is still as undecisive as ever, going back and forth over her feelings for both Gage and Logan, she even throws Marshall into the mix. I was lost throughout the book, especially when Skyla decided to momentarilly trust Chloe and showed up to her "get together"... that made no sense at all. On the plus side, Addison revealed something at the end that I have been guessing at for awhile now! I knew it! I always hearted Logan a little more than Gage and Expel proved that my feelings were not misplaced :)

Expel begins with future-Logan forcing Skyla from the bloodied scene where Gage and present-Logan lay dying. From there, Expel takes off into a dizzing reality where Logan is dead, but remains with Skyla in spirit, Gage is in critical condition from the car accident, and Holden Kragger has taken over Logan's body and is impersonating him. Expel takes us on a wild journey, some of which made little sense to me but I took those parts in stride because, as always, Addison creates an amusing story. I cannot begin to explain how hard I have laughed at some of the stuff Mrs. Moore comes up with in this series, especially where Tad is concerned. it's classic and I am convinced that Addison moonlights as a comedian :)

Expel ends on a major cliffhanger, but I am never to bothered with abrupt endings where the Celestra series is concerned since Addison dishes out books the same way McDonalds dishes out cheesburgers-- super fast and enjoyable... but also bad for your health. lol

Without missing a beat, Moore carries on her story in “Expel” - the plot gets more and more convoluted, the romantic relationships even more so, and Skyla gets into messier mess, one after another. Why Skyla doesn’t learn to think before she acts and speaks despite making mistake after mistake is beyond me – couldn’t the author have come up with a more sensible heroine? Through it all though, I must say what I actually found most interesting is Tad’s verbal and non-verbal reactions to all the bombshells his children and step-children kept dropping on his doorstep.

I tried to examine the reasons why I follow this series. I guess I just got curiouser and curiouser – with so much going on, how will all the various subplots tie up, and for that matter, how will Skyla get herself out of the very deep hole she dug for herself, in order to produce a fitting finale?

So, if the long-awaited climax produces enough whip, snap and crackle to justify my investment in this series, will I recommend it to my daughter, which was why I picked up the first book in the first place? Hmmm…I don’t think so, the plot is just too long-drawn and complicated, and there’s just too much reference to sex and drugs. But I can totally understand why this series appeals so greatly to teens in general!

4.5 stars for another great installment in an exciting series! I must say, though, that I am getting pretty anxious for some closure and some answers...I'm not sure how many more books are to come, but I hope not many. I do, however, love the characters and their story, so I don't mind continuing to read about them! The plot is so original and involved and crazy! The main character, Skyla, continues to be impulsive, passionate, and snarky, which I LOVE! It seems like she never does anything I think she will and it usually ends up terrifying or hilarious...such an entertaining read, to say the least. The boys are dreamy and sweet and intriguing! And all of the secondary characters are strong and well-written.

One thing I realized with this book is that the author has an amazing way with words. The words she chooses are amazingly descriptive and so infused with passion...often times in one little word! It's quite a talent!

"I let him come to me with his lips, cover me with the hot of his mouth and indulge in a kiss that ignores the constraints of age and time-it spells out love and forever much better than any careless sentiment that I could ever utter."

The kissing scenes are passionate without graphic details, but are so filled with passion and feeling that you can't help but feel it, too. I love it!

Overall, a terrific-ly engaging, excellently-written paranormal read! For the more sensitive reader...some swearing, with a few extreme words...

We left off with Gage AND Logan seemingly dead and having to be left behind while another Logan steals Skyla away with herself....wait....herself? Isn't that like....impossible?! Oh no! The world is going to collapse! At least now we know that Skyla has a reason for those pretty little dots on her hand from the first book. Though, I have to wonder still what that hand looks like now.

This review earns five hearts. I am still in shock at how tremendously Moore can leave me hanging and so lost yet so happy to be blindsided with information I never would have thought possible. There are a few points here where you can assume things but they are greatly outweighed by the refreshingly new vigor she puts into her books, never leaving you for a moment to be predictable or rather...when she does start to go to predictable she quickly throws a monkey wrench into the works. I have to say I haven't been this excited to be lost in a very long time. No wonder why she's in the top 1,000 sales on amazon! Not to mention the fact that she is now OPTIONED!

Moore had me waiting on pins and needles for this book to find out what had happened to Gage. Now, I am waiting again after another huge cliff hanger. Unlinke other series that go for 5+ books I have not got the feeling like the author was just stringing me on to make a buck. Skyla's story continues to progress at a resonable speed with new twists and turns that don't feel forced. It's always so difficult to read a series, like the first several books but loose interest as the story feels like it is just dragging on for the sake of more books rather than coming to a close at an appropriate time. I'm happy to admit that that this story is not one of those. For now, I wait for book seven, holding out for Gage but having to admit I'd rather take Marshall over Logan.

I really enjoy this series. The storyline has me hooked and I'm anxious for the next book after I finish one. However, with that said, I'm starting to get frustrated that there seems to be no end in sight. I'm not sure what made me to think this was the final book but I was frustrated to learn at the end that, once again, there is another book coming out. I felt this was a "filler" book. Like others, I was annoyed with the "my forever" and "love of my life" in every other sentence (yes, I know this is an exaggeration but you get what I mean). Ms. Moore, I hope you will end this series soon. I'm ready to move on. And while you are at it, make sure Chloe dies an extremely painful and slow death, please.

I am having such a hard time finishing this series. I read the first five with hopes that the "love triangle" would resolve and that the female protagonist would develop into a more likable character. It didn't. That triangle just became too repetitive and old that I rolled my eyes every time she changed her mind. I understand she is young and that's why I tried to get past that aspect, but in the end, it just got to be too much. I really wanted this series to get better. It had so much potential. Each book seems to be more of the same with very little progress toward a solid plot. I WANTED to like this series and really gave it a shot, but by book six I just couldn't go any further.

What can you say about these books that don't become spoilers for new readers? Let's just say Ms. Moore did it again, wrapping me up in her world, leaving me completely gasping and questioning and freaking DYING for the next book!!!! Oh and without giving too much away, let's just say she is able to do what very few are capable of doing--she had me switch teams before and now I'm dizzy, trying to pick a side to root for. Who is the better man? Who is the right person she is meant to be with forever? I don't know anymore but I can't wait to see where she brings us :)
