COLD COMFORT
Blues singer Lacey Pine is unlucky in love and has the emotional battle scars to prove it. Men have become transient dalliances, untrustworthy for more than a night or two, so when she inherits her grandmother’s rundown lodge in the hills of Crystal River, Wyoming, Lacey considers renovating and staying…or selling. Either way, she’s in this alone and means to stay that way.

TURNING UP THE HEAT
Dane Richardson had it all, a successful military career and the woman of his dreams, until the ravages of war nearly cost him his leg. Discharged and disabled, abandoned by his girl, Dane finds himself adrift on the sea of life—until he takes a wintry trip to Crystal River, Wyoming, where a foolish moment of self-pity and a fierce snowstorm turn trying to keep warm into the best thing that ever happened to him. Now he just has to convince Lacey Pine that he’s worth risking her heart.

Lacey is a rock star that has been burned twice before. Every relationship ends in a bad breakup before New Years Eve, so her upcoming resolution is to be celibate. After receiving her grandmother's lodge in Crystal River, she is renovating to sell. Part of her would like to stay, but the renovations are too big a job for her to do alone. She enjoys a part time job playing in the local bar.

Dane has recently come back from Afghanistan injured and on a medical discharge. He proposed to his long time girlfriend, and she broke up with him. He headed to Crystal River to find a family member then go on a road trip.

I will admit this started out like a normal, predictable romance .( most romances are--that's not a bad thing).. The characters, however, are unique. Lacey has been hurt and wears her heart on her sleeve. She wants a relationship but feels all will be the same. She blames herself as the problem, not the men she chooses. I did like her.

Dane however, I did not like at first. He seems arrogant, wallowing in self-pity and I didn't like how he seemed to treat women as just sex objects. He does redeem himself in the story, and I warmed up to him.

The storyline is interesting and fun. There is sex but it's not overly explicit yet it's hot.

If you like a hot- sweet romance with sexy ex-vets and sweet rockstar leading ladies and are looking for a good Holiday read. I recommend this one.

Loved it!

I loved Dane and Lacey's story. What's not to love? Lacey is a caring person who seems to exactly when to ask questions to get you to open up and when to allow the subject to drop for a while. She's been hurt a couple of times, making her doubt men. Lucky for her Dane is more understanding than most.

Dane was hard not to love. He's a recent veteran, after being discharged after being shot on active duty. His girl dumped him because of it. Something about Lacey caught his attention.

This book was well written. I was able to connect with the characters in a short amount of time. I could easily visualize the scenes because they were so well described. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.

On New Year’s Eve singer-guitarist Lacey Pine performs at a Wyoming bar. She didn’t choose the place but inherited her grandmother’s home. At closing time Lacey takes the money from a tip jar but also sees a small box. Inside is a diamond ring. She asks if anyone lost something of value. As a snowstorm brews outside she has a conversation with handsome Dane Richardson, a vet who returned home with a disability. His girlfriend is no more.
The ring is an interesting conversation piece between them! I enjoyed reading Lacey and Dane’s fun and interesting banter. He’s arrogant, and she doesn’t have much confidence when it comes to men. I highly recommend Snowbound by Linnea Alexis.

Although things happened so quickly, it verged on disbelief, I didn't care because this story was FUN!
In fact, the chemistry between Lacey and Dane during their fateful hours together trapped in the back of an SUV during a blizzard made be believe in insta-love again.

The supporting cast of characters was also very intriguing for such a short novella and has me curious to see if they have books of their own.

Intruding, steady paced and enjoyable story that I was captivated reading in one sitting. Well written and has some witty dialogue/storyline that will have most anyone chuckling while you read this one. The plot was light hearted and nostalgic with few surprises. Review will be on my blog on Dec 5 15

Dane and Lacey met by chance since Dane was in town visiting his family that she already knew. They get stuck in a snowstorm and during that time they discover they want more out of the relationship than a one night fling. They have both been dumped before so they are each afraid of it happening again.
