But with these newest inhabitants, something darker and more dangerous than the crocodile lies beneath the surface.
Discover the untold story of the one destined to become the sea witch of Neverland.
K.R. Thompson was raised in the mountains of rural Virginia. She resides in Bland County with her husband, son, two cats and an undeterminable amount of chickens. She is an avid reader, firm believer of magic, and still watches for evidence of Bigfoot in the mud of Wolf Creek. She can be found on her website-- http://authorkrthompson.wix.com/theke...
Neverland, the untold stories are brought to life by K.R. Tompson as she reveals that there are more lost ones in this magical realm than we ever knew. If not for the queen of the water sprites, the Never Sea would have no magic glistening in its waters. Are the mermaids and mermen the only magical beings in the sea? Nerida’s father has faced enough pain caused by humans, so they become part of the magical migration. Like everything else in Neverland, for the magic to survive, someone must believe, and Nerida has experienced the magic in person by disobeying the first rule, never go on land. Was there a reason she went? A trick of fate? A necessary piece of the puzzle that holds the legends of Neverland together or one of the many tales that have been misunderstood?
It takes a creative and brave soul to tackle the unveiling of hidden truths in Neverland, but K.R. Thompson has what it takes. Nerida is a wonderful tale, as well as a wonderful character, trapped by her own curiosity as she becomes one more player in the great realm that is Neverland. K.R. Thompson has shared a darker and more grown up version of the world we all dreamed of going to, where heroes and villains take on new faces and even one frightening alligator shows a side we’ve never seen. From the heart of Neverland and all the magic it holds, K.R. Thompson gives us a chance to go back and live the dreams all over again, armed with the untold stories!
I received an ARC edition of Nerida from K.R. Thompson in exchange for my honest review.

Nerida is the 3rd book in The Untold Stories of Neverland Series by K.R. Thompson, this book puts more detail into the happenings of Neverland telling how the Sea Witch came to be. I loved seeing Nerida’s story unfold and the things she has to go through. K.R. Thompson had me constantly anticipating what would happen next throughout the whole book and i was left wishing it were longer just so i could read more about the inhabitants of Neverland mainly Nerida.
Thespa, Queen of the Water Sprites has brought her own Lost Ones to Neverland, like Tink with Peter Pan and the Neverlings except Thespa brings back Mer people. After the death of her sister Odessa, Nerida’s father King Muir of the Northern Sea along with King Taron of the Southern Seas decide that the ocean is no longer safe from humans and almost immediately agree with Thespa’s proposal of moving to Neverland but Nerida doesn’t trust Thespa especially knowing how tricky sprites can be, but since no one will listen they still move to Neverland and on their first day there King Muir and King Taron are eaten by Tic-Tock Croc so what happens when Taron’s son Cassius becomes King? To make matters worse a whole ship full of humans show up on Neverland. Nerida is an amazing character and I love how much she develops. I recommend this book to anyone its an amazing story and very different than what I’m normally used to. Jack is book 4 of The Untold Stories of Neverland and will definitely be reading the rest of the series!

Wonderfully written, beautifully detailed and one to be enjoyed by both young and old.
Highly recommend Nerida and the previous books in the Untold Stories of Neverland Series to all fans of fairytales and fantasy..
*I received an ARC for review purposes @Paranormal Magic and Mischief.
While the character of the sea witch did not appear in the original Peter Pan novel, she has been used in a few of the Peter Pan retellings which focused on Captain Hook; so I was very much interested in seeing how Thompson would explain her origins and presence in Neverland and she did not disappoint.
When you think of mermaids from Neverland, you can be excused if the first few words that come to mind are "mean", "vicious", "dramatic", "evil". Nerida isn't any of that. She is kind, compassionate and loyal, and retains her goodness in spite of all that happens to her. It was easy to connect to her and I loved her by the end of the story.
The story is shown only through Nerida's point of view, so it mostly covers events that happen in the Never Sea, not Neverland. Also, most of the important events of this book start around halfway through Hook, so while this can be read by itself, I highly recommend that you read Hook first so you can understand what's going on.
This is a lovely story of a mermaid in Neverland, which is tragic but sweet and ends on a heartwarming note. I give it a rating of 4/5, and recommend it for anyone looking for a mermaid story or those who love reading about the different versions of Neverland.
This series is really messing up my views on Peter... I am waiting (slightly hoping) for some big twist that'll change Peter to be the way I know him to be instead of this nasty piece of work he currently is

All I have to say is WOW!! I cannot get enough of The Untold Stories of Neverland series. Both the fantastical creatures and the wonderous location are described in such exquisite detail that you can't help but feel you are in the story itself.
Nerida certainly does not disappoint. Her character is complex in every single way: emotionally, mentally, and physically. Thompson does a mermaid character justice in describing the change from fish to human and the detailed physical characteristics that would be unique to a mermaid. Nerida has the added complexity of also becoming the "sea witch." Whether she is under the sea with her people, on land in the caverns, on the Jolig Roger, or at her isle with her sting rays, the character is consistently kind, thoughtful, and emotionally intelligent.
This is the first time that we spend a good portion of time in the underwater world of Neverland. The description of all of the locations really intensify the feelings of danger, uncertainty, and sometimes comfort that we see throughout the story. Without the description of the areas surrounding the merpeople's castle we wouldn't understand the tranquility that lulled them into complacency. Without the description of Nerida's cavern on her isle would we fully grasp her loneliness after her change or fully realize just how her relationship with Tick Tok develops.
I cannot wait for the next book in the series. This will be one yet another K R Thompson book that I recommend to all of my friends and family.
Another wonderful look at Neverland continues with unique twists that dare your imagination. Nerida is one of the merfolk who always questions and has her own mind. When her father the King agrees to move their people to Neverland to avoid the humans, Nerida has concerns. Thespa the Queen of the water sprites has her own agenda, if the fairies can bring lost ones to Neverland to keep the belief in fairies alive, why cant she do the same thing. An unexpected encounter with a merman is the answer to her needs or is it the biggest mistake she will ever make. This is another great adventure told through the eyes of Nerida as she sees the actions between Pan and Hook. Drawn into the power play between the two enemies she gives us a view that is not biased but one born from curiosity. Her doubts about the move to Neverland are confirmed when she is turned on by one of her own. Protecting her people has always been the motivation that kept her going but things don't always work out as we want and she will have to struggle to come to terms with what fate has in store for her. Well written, well developed and thought out, engaging, easy to follow and some great twists and turns. I am always amazed when someone tweaks a storyline that is know by all and comes up with a brilliant alternative. This is my all time favorite retelling of this classic tale and I hope the author continues to enchant her readers with additional stories.
Book 3 in the Untold Stories of Neverland series was different than I expected, but it was a great read, I was able to finish it quickly and enjoy the story. I wasn't overly familiar with Nerida and when I thought about the book being about mermaids I pictured something very different, instead I got a very intriguing story about the evil sea witch. I loved that Nerida's story overlaps with Pan's and Hook's, and it was great to see their feud from a different perspective.
I think that the story unrolled fairly quickly and kept my interest to see what was going to happen next, although it was a little bit slow at times. I enjoyed the story more once the setting moved to the Never Sea and the events that occurred there.
I enjoyed the characters, the story and the atmosphere. I've loved the version of Neverland that K. R. Thompson has created since book 1. I can't wait to read book 4!
The completely fascinating series continues in a whole new, untouched area- the seas of Neverland! Neatly tied in and overlapping the first books - Pan and Hook, it was absolutely fascinating to see how Nerida's story is hovering in the background and more hidden aspects of the first books are revealed in Nerida's view. This is the completely intriguing, never before told tale of how mermaids came to Neverland and how just one mermaid changed history. While the other mermaids are blindly content in their new world, Nerida is the only one that questions the strangeness of Neverland and how there's underlying danger lurking around with nefarious intents. A rebel and an outcast, Nerida follows Archie (Hook) and tells the story from a whole new standpoint. I found this book absolutely fascinating and the way the author blends it over the first two books was just amazing! This series really is chalking up to be some of the most fascinating books I've ever read!
This is the first book that I have read by K.R. Thompson and I have to say I really enjoyed this story ' After losing her sister Nerida father turns to Thespa the Queen of the water sprites ,who's offer to go to a land where no humans are, just like Pan. Thespa needs her own to believe i the water sprites so their magic will stay alive. Just as Pan did in Tink for his lost boys, as well as the pirates . But as you read this great story ,you fine out who the sea witch is and we also learn now she became what she is now. Was it a smart move for them to move from their world to Neverland? K.R Thompson has written a brilliant story with wonderful details that will touch your heart .I could go on and tell you move about this touching story but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this story ,you won't be disappointed .
I thought this book was great. You get to learn the darker side of Neverland that we don’t really get to see, and understand how the sea witch was created. I loved how we see a more human side to Hook, while Pan is painted the villain and that things aren’t always as they seem. It really shows that things aren’t always as black and white as we think they are, and maybe there is more to be seen. It was a heart wrenching story that I just couldn’t put down. Thompson wrote these characters so well, and I cannot wait to tackle book 4.
If you have not read any of the other books, pick up Pan, which is a short story about how Peter came to Neverland, then follow that up with Hook, which tells you how the feared captain came to the island. Nerida sheds more light on how Hook lost his hand (and earned the name) as well as what made him want to hunt the flying boy down so much.
After the loss of Nerida's sister, her father is all for Thespa, the queen of the water sprites, offer to go to a land where there are no humans. Thespa needs her own lost ones to believe in the water sprites so that their magic stays alive just like Pan did to help Tink with his lost boys. Even with Thespa's warning to the mermaids and mermen to not go to the land, Nerida finds herself curious. She learns what happens when she's out of the water, discovers the lost boys as well as the pirates. But as time goes on, you learn who the sea witch is and how she became what she now is. Will this move from our world to Neverland be a smart one? Find out when reading this amazing book of the Untold Stories of Neverland.
What an amazing follow up! I LOVE these stories. I love the detail and the fun written into each page....K.R. Thompson really did an amazing job with the world building in this series.
Nerida follows the tale of a mermaid who would end up ruling the sea...I can't say anymore than that without ruining so many incredible moments. I waited for what felt like forever for this book and man, was it worth the wait! The characters in this book are well thought out, carefully planned and painstakingly written. Each moment is so real, each turn of the page so intense that I literally could not put this book down.
A magical world! KR Thompson has done it again! Dive into the magical world of Neverland, written from the creative and imaginative world of the talented Thompson. I was drawn to the story from the very first chapter and read it in one sitting! Fast paced, well written, full of adventure, vivid descriptions and fantastic characters, this book is hard to put down! If you are a fan of Peter Pan, you will enjoy the unique perspective that this tale brings, and fall in love with Nerida, the sea witch. A delightful treat not to be missed! Two thumbs up!
Nerida is a favorite of mine now. I enjoyed the story and definitely look forward to the next.
This entire series thus far has been one wonderful journey and Nerida is no exception. The story and characters are so enjoyable. K.R. Thompson knows how to hook readers. The author brings about a side of Neverland that we had never seen. To step into these stories and be carried away is amazing. Nerida's story is a fun one.
K.R. Thompson is one author to follow and a must read one too.
I, Amber McCarty (Imaginative Dreams), was given a copy for an honest review.
This book just brought everything full circle. Seeing the perceptive of the mermaid that Hook saw when he and his crew first arrived. So many lives have been altered since Neverland has started bring people to keep the magic alive. I just can not believe how delusional these magical creatures are. You thing the would take better consideration on who they put in power when their very life depends on it. I a mad that Hook was saved maybe if that never happened he would not be so miserable. But then there would not be a story...Blah...Blah...Blah...I know.
Another really good story on this series. However, for some reason I did not enjoy this book as much as Pan and Hook. Still enjoying this retelling of one of my favorite childhood books though. Will be reading the fourth book pretty soon!
I dont ever remember seeing mermaids in the movie of Peter Pan or in the story books. so this was a really good treat. It wasnt to long or drawn out but it placed enough information into that made the story enjoyable to read.
