After seeing the trailer for the upcoming movie, I looked up the whole ‘Ugly’ thing and was immediately smitten by the love story of the husband-and-wife team that created the franchise. They are so adorable! Hand written letters! Sigh. True love.

Anyway, interesting to compare this book with the movie to see how Hollywood has prettied up the characters and smoothed down the edges of some of the humor. The book is a great piece of creative work that takes every day, mundane life and gives it a tug to create a new thing that makes you think about the ordinary from a new angle.

This was a very informative guide for people who are new to the Uglyverse. They get to know all the basic facts in this very small book.
All the information are underlined with beautiful ugly and colourful illustrations.
Two stars are given away for those illustrations.
One stars is given for the ugly dolls in general.
And the last star is given because this book made me laugh out loud several times.
A fifth star is not given because I did not always understand the ugly humour. So actually you can blame me, not the ugly dolls.
