Ava’s been trying to help her past and her future co-exist, but when it all goes wrong, she’s barely able to take a breath when the next drama begins, and she begins to wonder about her string of bad luck. Tensions are already running high when evidence of slavery appears on Ava’s doorstep, quickly followed by an unwelcome blast from the past with news that forces her to rethink where her trust lies. The only thing Ava knows for sure is that it’s time to finish cleaning up the mess that started with Fionnuala because bad luck is catching, and everyone she cares about is affected.
I just still have so many questions left from all of the main books in these two series?? From reading about the novellas, they don’t answer them either.
It’s a good series but damn am I kinda confused about how somethings were main plot themes and then just suddenly just disappeared without any kind of explanation or answer??
I was soooooo happy for the last sentence in this book. Please don't ruin it......... It's about time she got something good. Liked this story but it lacked something.
Sighs.....so much hate and violence, I just don't understand people, human or otherwise you should never hate so much that you would hurt children! Its not their fault they were born different or special, that's life...move the fuck on!
Ava has been especially frustrating since she became the Matriarch. I understand she wants peace, her view of the world went from being cynical to wearing rose colored glasses, its just not reality. As much as I like her character I can't help but feel she's a bit of a hypocrite. She preaches about equality and how every species should respect one another without judgment but she's does the complete opposite of that when she meets people she initially doesn't like. Makes for a weak and unlikable heroine because I went from loving her to just barely liking her...sucks because she really does care but only about her people, makes her seem a bit selfish at times.
I can't even get into the games she playing with Peter and Phoenix, again hypocrisy at its finest, because the reasons she gives for not being with Peter are the same reasons she's chasing after Phoenix. I feel like she should just focus on herself and her unattainable goals of saving the world. Pitting these two men against each other is just spiteful and she knows exactly what she's doing and that its wrong, because if she didn't feel like she was playing with their emotions she wouldn't feel guilty around both men. She's old enough to know better..
Overall this was yet another engaging and page turning read but there were many things left up in the air so I had to reduce my rating...to many unanswered questions, to many missing people...WTF!
Ok, so I felt this a lot in the previous book but now I'm almost certain that there is a lot of real life politics and hatred symbolised in this book; things that have happened or are happening in real life that I recognise.
It really brings to light how easy it is for corruption to reach and impact people of all levels and how easy it is to turn people against each other.
It also highlights the role that agitators play in this through the media or general public characters who incite fear, hatred and violence in others by creating a divide and an "us Vs them", all for an agenda.
I've really enjoyed this series. Looking forward to reading the novellas and extra books and wondering if there will be more.
I gave this book a rating of 5 because I loved it. I loved how much she cares about all her friends and their future. She tends to put her self care on the back burner; like she is willing for her self to get hurt in order to save someone else. I recommend this book to anyone that loves anything supernatural.
I've read this three book series and let me tell you it was a page turner! It is a continuation of the Ava Delaney series and is an easy roll in. If you have not read the previous series you may be a little lost on some of the back story while reading this series but it is still spell binding none the less.
I enjoyed getting back to Ava's world. Tithes introduced us to a new bad guy with old connections and brought some of Ava's past back to the story. It was a little slow at times but I still loved it becuase of being shown not told. I do wish Ava was a little more ass kicking in this but hopefully in the next one we can see her beat up some more baddies. Next Ava book please. :)
I loved how it ended...finally! having had a baby left on her doorstep ava discovers slavery is still alive and kicking. bad luck seems to follow her and nobody likes Phoenix but her. they need to find who is behind it all which leads to more questions. more please....now ;)
I enjoyed this book and although I know there are other books connected to the Ava Delaney Series I was really hoping the Lost Souls Series would continue. I recommend this book.
