***** 4.5 Cranky Stars *****

Four standalone stories take place at the mystical Hotel Toujours.

A little paranormal and mystery with some raunch thrown in on the side. This was a perfect read for the train trip I took on Friday!

Fire and Ice by Elise Faber: 4 stars. This story feels like part of a series. It's easy to follow, but there was some information dumping along the way which I felt was unnecessary for a standalone in an anthology.

Rendezvous in Room 311 by K.D. Wood: 3 stars. I actually enjoyed this story. I loved the two main characters were people of colour. What stops me from giving it a higher rating is the transitions between characters and time periods. Sometimes, I was unsure who was narrating. Although switching between past and present is one of my favourite literary devices, I felt it was a little over utilised and detracted from the overall story.

Wishes by C.C. Ravanera: 5 stars. I think this one is my favourite. It's an incredibly sweet story about a positive girl and a cynical jinn. I found myself laughing out loud in some parts (intentional) and sniffing in others.

The Things We Leave Behind by Kelly Martin: 5 Stars. This one is my second favourite or at least first equal with Wishes. It's funny, witty, chilling, and a little sad. Two people go to a room that is haunted. One is a ghost hunter and the other is the husband of the woman who is haunting the place. Both get more than they bargained for.

Overall, I'd recommend this anthology. It's a mixed bag, but in a good way. You get four different, interconnected stories by very different authors. Pick this up. You won't be disappointed.

 WISHES By C.C. Ravanera

 “In prison you shall stay
Until the day one finds your way
Three wishes you shall gift
Three wishes you must complete
The cycle will keep rolling
Strangers will keep coming
Until one would come calling
With a wish that sets you free.
A wish freely given
Is the key to your salvation.
Yet the curse will pass on to other
For the cycle has to circle
Unless we find the chosen one
Who’ll break the curse’s circle”

This is a collection of four paranormals with a touch of romance. This is for adults only due to the sexual content. I am familiar with Elise Faber and K.D. Wood, both are excellent writers so I was anxious to see what they had written. But I now have a couple new authors that I will most definitely wanting to read more from. When I started the book I was expecting to read Christmas stories with all the glitter and sparkles, but there is so much more to these small stories. They are all magical in one way or another. Each story revolves around love, love in itself is magic, whether it be new love, reunited love, or lost love, it is a gift. Take it as it comes, grab on and never let go, deal with anything else later. Get your tissue box ready for a couple stories, yes, beautifully tragic, each one ends so perfectly. A must read!

Fire and Ice by Elise Faber
This is the story about Stephanie and Dom. Their previous relationship was strained to say the least. Parting ways Stephanie has made a new life for herself. She is content, well, until Dom shows up at her door. And he is demanding that she return with him, yep that didn't go over to well. Stephanie is headstrong but soon realizes danger in the form of a Dalshie is around the corner.

favorite passage:
"Her body wanted the man who'd devastated her soul more quickly and easily than a wildfire though a dry forest?"

Rendezvous in Room 311 by K.D. Wood

But at the last precious moment Keely reveals a secret of her own.

favorite passage:
"A hurricane of emotions swirled and ebbed in rhythm with her heart."

Wishes by CC Ravanera
This is the story about Michele, she is on a bucket list journey. She is keeping secrets that are hard to decipher because she is not one to complain. Michele is one of those people whom always puts others before herself. And she thrives on helping others and her happiness is contagious. She happens across a Jinn, and he can grant her three wishes. But what she wishes for will make for his undoing. He doesn't know how to feel about Michele and all her goodness. Be still my beating heart.

favorite passage:
"You're like a great piece of music that started off quietly before taking over your soul... until you hear nothing else apart from its amazing symphony."

The Things We Leave Behind by Kelly Martin
This is the story about Will Jenkins and his wife Jessica whom tragically passed away. Will is not in a good place, he is very grief stricken, and is far from moving on with his life. Then Jodi Granger a paranormal hunter shows up at his door, needing Will's help. What she needs help with is more than he almost can handle. It seems his wife is haunting a room that they were suppose to meet at that tragic night. He reluctantly agrees to go but by no means believes in ghosts. What happens while he is in the room, may change his mind.

favorite passage:
"Tiny, even if she has a bulldog expression and attitude about her sometimes."

"Frost" is a well-written, imaginative anthology. I loved how all of the stories centered around the Hotel Toujours—an odd hotel that offers something different for each of its guests. There is a common theme running throughout the anthology—love and discovery.

“Fire and Ice”
It was the first time I’d ever read anything by Elise Faber. I loved straight forward style and the honesty in her words.

“Fire and Ice” had great characters. Although these characters have appeared in other books (her "Phoenix" series and her "LexTal" series), I never got the feeling that I was missing something. There was enough back story included to let me get a good feel for each character.

My favorites were Dom and Steph. They were both strong characters who had to allow their walls to ‘thaw’. Once the walls came down, they were able to accept some hard truths in their lives.

Great story! I have added the "Phoenix" series and the "LexTal" series to my TBR. I can’t wait to read more about the evil twisted Dalshie.

“Rendezvous in Room 311”
KD Wood crafted an unexpected love story which I just loved. It was heartfelt and nearly moved me to tears.

I just loved the characters of Brock and Keely. They were an unlikely couple who experienced a great love. Brock was self-assured yet caring. Keely was strong and determined. The spark ignited between them was greater than any fireworks display.

I definitely did not envision how this would end. It blew my mind, but it was the perfect ending.
Great job Wood! It’s the third title I’ve read by her. She’s quickly becoming one of my go-to authors.

“Wishes”
C.C. Ravanera is a new author for me. This will not be the last thing I read by her. Out of all the stories, I think “Wishes” was my favorite.

Once again, we get another set of well-developed characters in an interesting story. I loved her take on a djinn. Ambroise was a complex persona who tugged at my heart strings. It was obvious to me what was going on with Michele. But, just like Ambroise, I turned a blind eye hoping for a better outcome.

Ravanera wrote a beautiful timeless love story. It was so touching.

“The Things We Leave Behind”
Kelly Martin’s story was the appropriate final story. It just left me speechless.

Granted, I was suspect about the characters early on in the story, but the premise kept me reading. The character of Will was awesome. He was so broken. The death of his wife was tragic and it left him empty. He had nothing left to live for without this woman in his life.

Jodi was endearing. You knew she had a job to do, but it was more than just an obligation for her.

Another great love story to end an anthology built around paranormal romance.

I enjoyed "Frost" a lot. The stories stayed with you (seriously, I dreamt about the hotel). Each story had two constant characters, the hotel and Higgins. The details in each story were perfect. Finally, each story was full of emotion.

"Frost" will not disappoint you. It’s a must read anthology.

My actual rating for this collection is a 3.5 but since I can’t give a half rating I marked it as a 3. This collection is from four different authors who were all new authors to me. The setting of all four of the stories take place at the same location, The Hotel Toujours in New Orleans. We do get to see a couple of the same staff appear in the different stories.

Fire and Ice by Elise Faber, the first story in the book I would give a rating of 3. Things happening in the story seemed confusing to me and at times difficult to follow or visualize. This could be on me as the reader as I typically do not read the paranormal genre. I was thinking this was more of a romantic holiday story based on the classification. Yes, the story has romance but I would want a classification of paranormal for this. Another aspect with this story is that it seems that the author has written other books that would be this series. It is a stand alone but I think having more background would have helped me as a reader.

Rendezvous in Room 311 by KD Wood is the second story in this collection. I honestly tried to read this but couldn't get into it and found myself skimming through the story. If it hadn't been in this collection I wouldn't have finished it, and that's something I rarely do. I was so confused on what was going on with Brock and Keely and the witchcraft it was not for me at all.

Wishes by CC Ravanera is up next and this was a breath of fresh air after the disaster I felt with the previous story. I had serious doubts in continuing this book and I'm so glad I did. I could not put the book down during this story. I felt the emotions that Michele and Ambroise were experiencing. This story had depth to it and at times I needed a box of tissues. I didn’t want the story to end and it has some surprises that kept me wanting more. I forgot that this was a paranormal romance and I will be looking to read more from this author as this was a 5 star read for me.

The Things We Left Behind by Kelly Martin is the final story in the collection. Starting this story I was excited to see what was in store next. As intriguing as this story started out, it fell flat when what should have been a shocking conclusion was given away and I was left disappointed.

The story is told from Will’s point of view which I think the author did a great job with as that did add to the mystery of the story. The author also did a great brief indirect tie in with the other stories in the collection that I’m sure wasn’t the easiest. I am going to check out other stories from this author in hopes that she has some that are more romance than paranormal ghost stories because I did enjoy her writing.

Heartbroken Keely accepts this without question and she doesn't learn the cost of this bargain until the 5th year anniversary of his death, his memories of her and in the end his soul. Frost is a wonderful collection of stories that take place around the mysterious Hotel Toujours. If you love paranormal romance and feeling all the feels, then this is the anthology for you. Each one of these authors are wonderfully talented and imaginative.

Fire and Ice by Elise Faber
This story blends in characters from her Phoenix and LexTal series into a romantic adventure about two people struggling with a complicated past. Oh yeah, and some evil, magic-wielding immortals hot on their heels. It definitely feels like part of a series, but I didn't feel lost at all.

Magic, and fighting, and firey females. Oh my!

Rendezvous in Room 311 by KD Wood
At the Hotel Toujours, not even death can stop true love. Once a year, Keely and Brock Stephens are reunited for their anniversary. This story beautifully drifts between the past and the present to tell a story that will tug at your emotions.

Feels. Feels all over the place. And sexiness. KD Wood brings it.

Wishes by C.C. Ravanera
I'm already a big fan of Ravanera's writing. I'm pretty familiar with the way she can guide you around by your feels. That being said, I didn't expect a beautiful story like this. Michele, with one L, comes to the hotel in search of a little adventure. She meets a gorgeous djinn who offers her three wishes. Neither one of them is prepared for the other. Neither one of them expected to fall in love.

Ugh. It's too pretty for me to handle. She ruined me with this one (Did you hear me, C.C.? RUINED!)

The Things We Leave Behind by Kelly Martin
A ghost hunter takes a grieving husband to the hotel to put his wife's vengeful spirit to rest. This one cranks up the paranormal to Supernatural levels. There are layers of mystery to shift through in this spooky ride full of twists and turns. It'll leave you guessing up until the end.

Ghosts creep me out. If you are a chicken like me, don't read this one real late at night.

If you love paranormal, mystery and romance then you will loved this anthology. The anthology has something for everyone and I enjoyed each story.

Fire and Ice by Elise Faber: 3.5 stars. This story revolves around Stephanie and Dom, two humans that have special elemental powers due to experiments that happen during WW II. Dom and Stephanie had been in loved a decade ago, but were separated due to a tragedy in their community. Now Dom is back to protect Stephanie from people who want to harm her and to finally claim her for his own.

Rendezvous in Room 311 by K.D. Wood: 3.5 stars. K.D. Wood knows how to write paranormal stories. If you haven't read her unwilling series, stop right now and go buy it. This was as story of Brook Stephes who passed away a decade ago, but meets ups with his wife every year on their anniversary. However, this year something is different with his yearly meeting with his wife. This story had me guessing till the very end.

Wishes by CC Ravanera: 4.5 stars - this was probably my favorit story in the anthology. It had so many feels and wish it was a full length novel. Michele comes to New Orleans to find some adventure and to live some life. When she checks into the mysterious Hotel Toujours, she meets a Jinn who gives her three wishes. However Michele is not in a hurry for her wishes to be granted and instead begins to develop special relationshiop with her Jinn.

The Things We Leave Behind by Kelly Martin: 3.5: This the story of Will Jenkins, whose wife viciously haunts the Hotel Toujours. Will is contacted by a Ghost Hunter Jodi, as she needs his help to bring peace to his wife. However, all is not what it appears with Will and the question is who is really haunting who.

Frost: A Rendezvous Collection is a captivating read by four amazing and talented authors.
The anthology includes:
Fire and Ice by Elise Faber
Fire and Ice is a spin off series based on Elise’s Phoenix Series. Fire and Ice revolves around Stephanie and Dom. The two share a past and when tragedy struck Dom sent Stephanie away, now Dom is back and wants Stephanie to return with him. With danger lurking around every corner the two must face their past and work together in this sexy and thrilling tale that will leave you begging for more.
Rendezvous in Room 311 by K D Wood
In this beautiful and haunting tale we meet Brock and Keely a husband and wife know to never let go of love even after death. This emotional rollercoaster left me grabbing for Kleenex and teary mess.
Wishes by C C Ravanera
In C C’s Wishes we meet Michele a young girl travelling on her own and has a mix up with her hotel stay and ends up staying at the Hotel Toujours. Upon cleaning the mirror in her hotel room she unlocks a Jinn who says he will grant her three wishes. This beautiful and magical story will have you questioning what you would choose for your three wishes.
The Things We Leave Behind by Kelly Martin
The Hotel Toujours is believed to be haunted by a vengeful spirit; Will believes this vengeful spirit is his wife Jessica. Paranormal Hunter Jodi agrees to help him investigate; the two embark on a tale that will leave you hanging on to the edge of your seats with twist and turns around every corner in the beautiful yet extremely spooky story.
This paranormal romance anthology will keep you up till the wee hours of the morning reading and is a must read for everyone, I loved it and cannot wait for more from these amazing authors.

"And that's how you eat okra!" BEST LINE EVER!!!!

What a great novella! There were so many emotions crammed into this book with a hint of mystery.

Michele is a sweet girl that stumbles upon a genie but Ambroise isn't your typical genie, he is a Jinn. With looks like the mighty Thor it only accentuates his power. He has been locked in the mirror for 100 years only coming out once every few years and he now has a new master. Michele is a sweet, kind, compassionate girl who is always looking to help others before herself. Before Ambroise was cursed to become the Jinn he was a spoiled rich boy who only cared about himself. Will Michele's warmth an goodness help him be a better person and possibly break the curse? Or will he always remain the cocky, tormented and trapped man?

It was a joy to meet Michele! She is so sweet and generous and there are parts that will break your heart. I really enjoyed reading Wishes. It's funny, it's sad, it's sweet, really every emotion is in this book. If you are looking for a good romance novella, I suggest this one!

Fire and Ice by Elise Faber

This story was very interesting. It's different than anything else that I've read and I wasn't sure that I would like it but I did. It's kind of dark and suspenseful and really keeps your attention. I'm glad to know that this ties in with her Phoenix series, now I can find out more about Stephanie, Dominic, the Forgotten, the Rengalla and the Dalshie.

Frost was an interesting anthology about love, only one of the authors I have read before, the others are new to me. Each story flowed well and the characters were believable. Not all the stories are feel good but they are all amazing in their own right! If you are looking for a good paranormal romance chock full of love in all its forms, this is the book to read!!

***I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.***

Fire and Ice is familiar to me, as I’d read Elise Faber’s other works. So to say I was excited about reading this one would be the understatement of the year. And she definitely delivered. I will tell you that this involves Dom, one of the Forgotten and someone from his past. It is really an awesome story. I definitely recommend it to any and all who’d want to read it.

Rendezvous in Room 311 really intrigued me. I thought it was interesting as this was about a couple who’d been married already 10 years. And it was good. Sad that their jobs kept them from one another, but he love was obvious and thick between them. Then K.D. Wood gutted me. ACK! For reals?!?! The crap man! I thought this was supposed to be a warm and cozy read, even if it was about a freaky-deaky hotel in New Orleans. I’d still recommend it, just know that you’re face will spring a leak.

Wishes by C.C. Ravanera was also a new one for me. I’d only ever read anything by Elise Faber. I thought, cool, a Jinn story. And though I was afraid of the hook, I was had. All I could think was DAFUQ MAN! Does each story get worse??? Not bad as in it’s terrible, bad as in, I’m bawling my eyes out and I hate crying. And no one warned me of this ish too! I would recommend it, but REALLY only if you really want your face to burn and leak, and strange noises to erupt from your pie-hole.

The Things We Leave Behind by Kelly Martin had me leery, considering the last two stories that I’d read. I didn’t know how much more leaking my face could do without spontaneously combusting all over the place. I’m happy to report that it didn’t cause any leakages. I actually felt that resolution was good in this story. And I’d picked up on the truth of the matter right after the salt incident. What I didn’t figure out was the Sarah lady. That wasn’t something I expected, though in hindsight I should have. This story was good. I really enjoyed it.

Floriza is a Dalshie or something else equally evil. Just sayin. This book felt more like it belonged in Halloween than Christmas, which is both good and bad. I can’t say that I am complaining about it, though my eyes look like two burnt bottomed biscuits. But I’ll live. The stories are well-crafted and well told. And I’d recommend this book as a whole for anyone who doesn’t mind springing leaks.

***this review focuses on Fire and Ice by Elise Faber***

Once again Elise Faber knocks it out of the park! Fire and Ice finally tells us the story of Stephanie and Dom, characters from the Phoenix/LexTal stories that Elise so beautifully told.

I love reading about characters that share a past. It's troubled and complicated. Strained at best. They've both built up a heavy guard around their hearts. But it's that struggle that I love seeing two characters, who are meant to be together, work through for a chance at anything and everything- happiness, peace, and love.

But their journey is not an easy one. Finding twists and turns wherever they look, the two must not only try to mend what was, but survive at everything life throws at them in the process.

I love reading Elise's stories and I can't wait to see what's next for her characters! This collection is definitely a must read!

Now I'm off to read the rest of the stories by some amazing authors :)

Frost: A Rendezvous Collection is a collaboration of stories that will leave you wanting more.
When reading this book you will get sucked into the world of the Forgotten and Dalshie with Fire And Ice by Elise Faber. You will be sucked into the world of undying love, ghosts and haunted hotels in Rendezvous in Room 311 by K.D. Wood. In Wishes by C.C. Ravanera you will meet the Jinn, Ambroise and the woman who stole his heart. Last but not least is the tale of lovers separated by death whose reunion brings them both closure in the novella The Things We Leave Behind by Kelly Martin.

I give it 4.5 stars
I enjoyed this collection of stories. I'm a New Orleans girl so I felt it did the city justice. I adored the 1st story it was intriguing and I honestly wanted more of this group!! Story 2 didn't pull me in like the others but was still good. I've recently discovered CC Raveneras book and I was happy to see a story by her. I loved the love story of it and it was sweet. The fourth story was mind blowing. Like I wasn't expecting that twist. I would highly recommend this anthology to anyone who loves paranormal stories. They are all interwoven so read them in order!!

Loved loved loved this one. I like how we can sample different authors all in one book. My favourite was definitely Elise Faber. I already love the LexTal world that Elise has introduced to me and this has helped me understand that world a bit better. Five great stars.
Well done to the authors involved.

I've only read Elise Faber's Fire and Ice contribution to this anthology so far but I will get to the rest.

I LOVED Dom and Steph's story. I especially loved her attitude and personality because it reminded me a lot of me. Wonderful job Elise!
