Ornate stables. The smell of hay and sweat. The lush green of the show grounds. Maple Parsons finds the allure of the Pony Bazaar overwhelming and supremely enticing. "Bio-Equine Showcasing," as the sponsors put it.
And sales. Because she's here with J.B. to sell the pony girls J.B. trained. The prospect terrifies her as much as it thrills her. Not to mention she's here, alone with J.B. Their attraction keeps them tethered together even as events try and keep them apart.
Given enough force, though, even the strongest ties can be snapped. When Maple's dark past comes back to haunt her, J.B. might be able to save her, but she's not sure she can save what they have together.
Others might be looking for a way to break free, but Maple's desperate to find a way to bind herself to J.B. She wants to be tied down. She's willing to sacrifice it all for a chance to be his.
Penny Lam grew up in North Carolina but never fully mastered the accent. She skipped a lot of high school and went to more colleges than Sarah Palin. It took a long time to figure out something she loved doing enough to stick with it. When she isn't writing, she helps build airplanes and rocket ships, attempts to do yoga, and drinks a lot of red wine.
Not paid or whatever to read it. Okay it took a bit of self-convincing to continue the series but I hate to leave cliffhangers even when I've been warned about them. This one focuses more on the growth of the MC than on her sexual relationship(s) and I think that made it better. Will read the third and hope that the upward trend continues.
I received this for an honest review. I have read several of this author’s books. She truly is an amazing author. This book is second in the series and is not a standalone. Please go to book one and read first. I love dark erotica. BDSM has several sides to it, There is the good and the bad. There are parts that people might not understand, but always remember it is to each their own. Though something might not be for you does not mean it is wrong or bad. I have read several books on this particular subject matter. This is the first one I have actually liked of the pony lifestyle, some authors just do not do the lifestyle justice. I love how the author is bring out so many different sides to the life style. She is truly doing a wonderful job. FYI, this book is darker then the first and trust me when I say your heart will break. Have a box of tissue on hand.
Maple is falling more and more for J.B. No matter how much he pushes her way it is like she can not help herself. She craves his touch and the pain that she knows he can give. Maple is not only now attending to the actual horses but the “ponies” as well. She is discovering a whole new lifestyle. She is learning to take care of the women and learning what it takes to train one as a pony. It appears she is what is called a switch though the author does not come right out and say this. The road to this lifestyle is not an easy one, but she also is a little jealous of watching J.B. with the “ponies”
J.B. is sending mix signals. One minute he is telling Maple there is not future and the next he is sending signals that there could be. Maple disobeys at every turn. J.B. keeps giving her chance after chance. Punishing seems to not be working. At one point he takes it to far. It could be a breaking point for Maple. Will she stay around after her punishment?
J.B. has been not only woking on training the “ponies” but is also trying to teach Maple how to help out at the upcoming show. If they only knew the danger that laid ahead that they would have to face. Secrets don’t always stay hidden and past can come back to bit you. Will it be to late?
I love the love that Maple has for Bane. She sees what a good horse he could be with a little love a patience. It truly is not fair that Bane is made to pay for something that happen in the past. You have to wonder how much is really was the horses fault. It is like Bane and Maple understand each other. They both see the hurt that lies underneath.
If you haven't read the first part of this series, Stabled, then you should stop now and read it first. The darkness that is hidden in the deep recesses of Maple's mind threaten to surface more often than not. She has endured so much in her short life so far, that she truly doesn't know what happiness, trust and love are. After discovering one of J.B.'s secrets, she finds herself pleading for a second chance...again. While he secretly believes she will quit, J.B. is pleasantly surprised when Maple, once again, shows her strength and pulls through another difficult time. So much action goes on in this episode of the trilogy, that you won't want to miss a page of it. Maple has settled into a quiet existence, thinking she has finally out-run her past, only to be faced with it head on. With no reason to believe she will be rescued once again, she prepares for her fate. I won't disclose any more of what happens, as you truly need to read it to understand it all. Having said that, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Penny Lam has the unique talent of developing a story that, not only is it a bit dark, with it's share of BDSM, leaning considerably on the S & M side, it has the ability to squeeze your heart with the warmth, even though it is a bit backwards, of feeling loved. Her tale is a bit twisted, but you will always see the good trying desperately to shine through. An excellent read. Looking forward to the finale, hopefully sooner than later. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Tethered, Book Two in The Stables Trilogy, picks up, right where Stabled left off and I'm so glad. Penny Lam has me so into this story and these characters, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. Once I start her books, I have to read them in one sitting, no stopping, they're just too good.
Maple Parsons is dealing with all she's learned about J.B. and his two sets of stables. Her working in the horse stables and her time with Bonnie keep her grounded and balanced. When she's working in the private stable is when things get more interesting and she's off balance. She has to learn different responsibilities, how to interact with the ponies and with J.B. on a different level.
When she continues to push J.B. by disobeying him, he punishes her on more than one occasion. She knows that it's coming and accepts it until the loss of Bonnie, that one was too much. But when she finally stands her ground, she doesn't get the responses or the reactions she expects. She agrees to go to the Pony Bazaar as his assistant to help showcase the ponies and see where they are after.
Things definitely get interesting on the way to the Bazaar and Penny wrote us some WOW that I wasn't expecting that happens at the Bazaar. Damn lady BLAST from the past, right!? Ok, so then, she left me hanging but she wrote it perfectly to get us ready for what I'm positive will be another perfect read and the final book to the trilogy, Saddled, come on January 15th. Thanks for another Amazing read.
This is part two of the trilogy and again the author has produced an amazing story that keeps you totally in its grip and mesmerised. Maple is finally gaining Bane’s trust, but because of this finds herself at the unrelenting mercy of J.B. when he finds out she has disobeyed him yet again. Bonnie is dying: J.B. tells Maple that before Bonnie dies, she has to be put out to pasture. Maple cannot bear to leave Bonnie alone, and when she dies in the stable there are series consequences. Maple knows she cannot stay at the ranch any longer, but J.B.’s comments deter her and she has no choice but to stay. Maple wants to work in the “other stable” alongside J.B. and the ponies; it is what she has asked for and there is no turning back, even though her work is arduous and piques her jealousy. J.B. says Maple is good with the ponies and they like her, so invites her to accompany him to the Bazaar. Everything is fine until Maple runs into a couple of acquaintances from her past, who are intent on hurting and degrading her, until J.B. and Reece come to her rescue – Maple’s past is then divulged. Maple tells J.B. she wants to change, and then begs him to let her be a pony – J.B. might agree to this, but would he then sell her? I cannot wait for the final instalment and to see how J.B. and Maple heal themselves – it should be quite an intriguing read. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Tethered picks right up where Stabled left off. Maple is such at odds with herself and J.B. at times it drove me crazy because I just want to yell at the two of them and tell them to just give in dammit!! That's how invested I am in the story!! I have to warn you that there is a necessary part where you will cry. I know this because you like romances so you have a heart and it will break at least once, but that's what makes a good book!! You go through many emotions while reading this book, it's not just sadness believe me. At one point I gasped out loud I was so horrified, that's how good and descriptive the author is!! Oh and the sex is quite hot!! Now I am anxious for part three where I will get my HEA, because after all the hell that Maple goes through she deserves one, and if she didn't get one I might get a tad angry and throw my Kindle, and I'm sure Penny wouldn't want to be responsible for that!! I'm not giving anything away, Penny talks about it at the end of the book, I'm just giving you a heads up now. So buy the book, make some tea (or coffee if you prefer), get your box of tissues, and then settle in for a REALLY good book!!
***I was given this ARC for an honest review*** If you haven't read the preceding book in this trilogy I'd advise you to do so. (Stabled) These are very Dark BDSM books and boy are they seriously delicious. The main characters are Maple a young lady who has been abused in ways no one should. And J.B. a billionaire who has issues of his own, having lost his wife. Maple has been hired by him to take care of his horses on his ranch. She falls for him and he for her, but he tries to stay away. He does lose that fight though and ravishes her. He is taking her with him to help show his "ponies". While there Maple is accosted by her former lover and another Dom who she thought she had killed and strung up and beaten before J.B. can find them. I won't say any more other than a great read. I loved it.
If you love dark erotic stories this one is for you, but you must read the first books Stabled first! The story of Maple and JB continues and poor Maple is still dreaming of a loving, consensual relationship with JB, but he's broken and dark and he's not into this type of relationship with her. Her past comes to meet her present and JB plays the knight in shinning armor in this, but is she seeing more than there is, will he ever reveal any feelings for her. This is the story of a tortured soul at such a young age, raised without any real affection or love. She is looking for this in every encounters she has with JB, but is he capable of it? The next book in this series might give us all the answers we are looking for as a reader.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. This is the 2nd book in this series and you definitely need to read the 1st book before starting this one. I am fascinated by this series. The psychological aspects of it are completely foreign to me but so compelling! The main characters are so complex yet so simple and their relationship is so tumultuous that you have to know what happens to them. The secondary characters (the ponies) are completely fascinating to me as I just cannot fathom wanting what they want but I have to keep reading to try to understand it better. I love it! It's not for everybody but if you are intrigued by alternate lifestyles then this is a MUST READ series.
This is the second book in the Stables Trilogy and I do recommend you read them in order. Maple has recovered from her accident in the first book and is back at work. Now that she know JB’s secret she is working in both stables. When she goes to help with the auction of the “ponies” her past catches up to her. Great Read! Plenty of drama and suspense, I couldn’t put it down. The characters are amazing and the story has plenty of emotion and the chemistry between JB and Maple is hot. Be advised not for the faint of heart. This is a dark read. Loved it!
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Penny Lam. This is part 2 of her series Stabled.
Maple Parsons could not get J.B. out of her mind even after he found out his secret. Now she agrees to help sell the ponies but when he forces her to do something against her beliefs she quits but he forces her to stay because she can't pay him the money back. Now her ex comes on the scene and causes problems for her and J.B. comes to the rescue again.
This is a dark erotic romance from the author and is for mature readers.
