Jake McKay is coming home and bringing trouble with him.
As he attempts to redeem himself in the eyes of his family he finds himself plunged into a nightmare unfolding on their doorstep, the consequences of which will rock the entire family.
GRAMMAR! I just realized that, if I read this series as if it is a telenovela, I don't mind all the story lines and the wild mysteries. Carella still needs to think about hiring an editor. I know an out of work English teacher who could help her out.
The general thesis of the series was maintained in this book. However, the details were not there to the degree I would have liked. The series seems to focus on blood and gore more and more: Each murder exceeding the violent crime of the previous one. However, I have purchased the next one, and I will give Carella
Another quick easy read, though the grammatical errors in this one bothered me. But I liked the story and another gotcha at the end, so on to the next one.
I don't often rate a book 5/5 as I feel as though 5* needs to be reserved for something outstanding... but this was!
Right from the first page I was hooked. You have already fallen in love with all of the characters as the series progressed and to see how their relationships developed and changed gave a fab crime story a good edge of humanity.
This book was written in a way that even though it can be classed as a 'short story', it didn't leave you wanting anything. There was enough detail for you to live the story but then not too much detail that it felt the book ever went off on an unnecessary tangent.
Right from the get-go Im into all that is happening and I love how the 1st chapter leaves you hanging trying to figure what is happening. I cant put it down. i just love A.J Carella's work. I cant wait to tell more as I keep on reading. I love how there is multiple things happening in the book and the suspense and movement. I can't wait to know more in the next book. everything A.J. writes is worth the reading
Crazy storyline continuing for the McCay family. There is ONE line in the book, that my jaw just dropped!! OUCH!! A little more to be continued in this book than the previous McCay's, and I want to see how it turns out, so I will read book 6. This author is kind of like Walking Dead or Game of Thrones creator - doesn't matter who you are - you may not be safe, and I like that! The book has the same typo's of character name swap, which makes you re-read, but not too much.
What an intense story ! I absolutely loved the idea, it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I received an ARC for an honest review but I loved the story so much I bought a copy because it's definitely worth a reread. I really liked how the whole family was involved and the small town feel. I won't say anymore because it's too good to give the plot away!
A.J. Capella has a way of writing mysteries/thrillers that will keep one's attention, yet allow the reader to become fond of the main characters. Killing Fields was no exception. A nice read recommended to anyone having a sense of family bond and love.
This is the first book I have read in this series and will be reading the previous books. The characters are well rounded and I found it hard to put down as it was fast paced with plenty of twists and surprises.
Another great book ,this series is a must to read .I'm moving on to the next book in the series, look forward to reading all .A.J.Carellas books. Always a good exciting story line .
