Returning home after a decade of study, historian Jack Wylde has to contend with a family curse he’s dedicated his life to breaking and a brother on the edge of madness. The last person he wants involved is Sergeant Evangeline Renard, the only friend he ever had as a kid, now on the Bloomfield police force. When news spreads of a vicious animal attack on the outskirts of town, he knows eventually the bloody tracks will lead to the dilapidated steps of what was once the grand Wylde family estate. And sure enough, look who’s knocking on his door…
Erin Kellison is the bestselling author of the Indulgence series, the Dragons of Bloodfire series, the Reveler series, and the Shadow series. She writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and fantasy. She loves other worlds and visits them as often as possible via movies and books and her kids' imaginations. When not daydreaming or writing, she's goofing off with her family in sunny Arizona.
4.5 Stars! There has to be more! What happens to Jack and Eva?! Do they find a cure for his family's curse? I really hope there is a second book in this series.
I thought this was a great story up until the end. Unless there is more to come, the ending was severly lacking. There were too many questions left unanswered. I really hope there is more. I would love to know the answers.
The beginning of this has what I consider overly descriptive scenes (too much detail), but after a couple of chapters in, I did want to find out what happened. And I did get hooked. This reminded me of what Roger Zelazny wrote; that he makes back and side stories for his novels, just for his own reference; and this has a feel of that. I will be reading more of Erin Kellison, was a gripping read.
In this book we find Jack who is dealing with a family curse that ends in insanity. Seeing every family member go down this path he knows it will be his time soon. An old flame Evangeline (now part of the police force) comes to see what has been going on with a black panther attacking the residents in the small town. Now we have to figure out if they will solve the puzzle in time or will Jack go the way of the rest of his family?
For me, if you are going to read a novella, read one by Erin Kellison. It feels complete and you are only left wanting more in the world she has created. This book is a bit different. You are left with feeling like you need to know more about this world before we were cut off. However, what we do get, is good. You are captivated wanting to solve the mystery of Jacks family and beyond. I do hope there will be more in this series and I do believe that is the plan. I give this book 4 stars and recommend it to those that love shifter romance.

Oh man I started this book and well finished it within a few hrs . It was that good . I didn't want it to end I hope there will be more . I was just getting to know the characters and was hopeing for a mystery to solve or at least to find the beginning of the curse .. It was a good read just over way to soon..
I received an ARC copy of Wylde Magic for an honest review. As my shifter novel Wylde Magic drew me in and got me hooked completely. I must read more of this tale and others like it. Strange happenings, a family curse and long denied feelings being acknowledged between friends - who can ask for more?? I thoroughly recommend picking up this paranormal romance and enjoying this mystic tale.
This is a quick read and does not truly end. It is the story of Eva and Jack reuniting under very difficult circumstances. Jack sees no happy future for himself or his family. Eva cannot believe the changes that Jack has undergone. They come together at the end of this tidbit. Their tale does not end here, and I would love to read more.
A very short story that can be read within the hour. I agree with the rest of the reviews and hope there is more to the story. A lot happens but there is a lot more to know. This is my first time reading this author and am willing to read more of her work based on this story.
I enjoyed the book one I got into it, which was hard to do while watching the grandkids. I'm looking forward to the followup, hoping it won't be too long in getting here.
