It's becoming quite the stretch to my imagination that every unattached djinn will be able to locate his Chosen amongst the few Immune that have survived the cleansing.
I have a question that I may already have the answer to. Was Jace able to communicate telepathically with Jessica before they met because she was his Chosen, even though she didn't know it? Julia laments several times that she wishes she could communicate with Zahrias in that manner but can't since she's not his Chosen.
Another observation is that since the djinn are practically immortal, they will have several partners over their long existence. However, the djinn with Chosen indicate that their alliance will last for all eternity. Why the difference? No boredom with a human who can't be nearly as interesting as another djinn? Puh-leeze.
So Zahrias is is kidnapped by one of his former djinn lovers, Lyanna. She has apparently been lusting after him for thousands of years but didn't feel compelled to act until he indicated an interest in Julia. How this former lover was able to distinguish that his feelings for Julia were stronger than they were for the human partner he'd had before is not addressed. Why didn't she pursue him during his long abstinence? I would think he would have been a lot more receptive to her when he didn't have conflicting emotions. But then the main storyline wouldn't exist.
We meet Lyanna's evil brother, Qadim, who has enlisted Margolis into the scheme. I just remembered that Qadim was communicating telepathically with Margolis before he sprang him out of jail. Hmm, how could this be? There was certainly no romantic link there.
Why are the djinns and their Chosen living in one community? They've access to the whole freaking world and could each have huge areas of land, cities, whatever. Why would they limit themselves to one house each in suburbia? It's not as if they can't blink themselves to other locations if they feel the need to kibitz.
I'm going to continue reading the next three books in this series. I'm fairly certain they will be djinn meets Chosen romances which is not my favorite genre. More magic, less hanky panky, please.
