An unexpected tragedy leads to an unexpected love. Fall in love with the story thousands of readers are raving about.

Fiercely independent Janie Jansen has always believed there were worse things in life than being blind, and she’s spent her life proving it. She’s moved away from her overprotective parents, built a life in New York City, and is one of the top technical editors in her company. That is, until an unfortunate accident turns her life upside down and she’s forced to give up the very independence she’s worked so hard to achieve.

Firefighter Boyd Hudson pushed past his tragic past and is weeks away from accomplishing his ultimate dream—being accepted into medical school. His intense focus on his goal while working three jobs has taken its toll. With a trail of failed relationships behind him, Boyd is painstakingly aware of his limitations and avoids girlfriends completely—a difficult task given his attraction to one of his co-workers.

When Boyd comes to Janie’s rescue, she’s forced to accept his help, and Janie discovers there’s more to the sexy-sounding office flirt than one-liners. Their connection deepens as Janie heals, but it turns out that Janie isn’t the only one who needs healing. Boyd’s painful past comes back to haunt him, threatening their relationship and forcing Boyd to reevaluate everything he knows about himself.

Touched by Love was a beautiful and heartfelt read.

The storyline was sweet, emotional and entertaining read.
Both Boyd and janie were great characters, I connected with them both and loved watching them fall in love.

Boyd was supportive, sweet, caring and loved Janie unconditionally, he warmed my heart with his words and actions.
Janie was strong, smart, and I loved her spirit and determination to not let her blindness hold her back.
These two were perfect for each other, and totally deserved their HEA.

Melissa Foster has written a touching love story that will bring out all the feels and leave you with a heart full of love.

TOUCHED BY LOVE is the sixth book in the Love in Bloom: The Remingtons series. As a new fan of Melissa Foster’s I’ve been loving reading all these new books by her. As you can tell by the series name, all her books are connected somehow and they are almost always spin offs from another series. However, as I haven’t read any of the other books in this particular series yet, I still believe that you can read this as a standalone.

From reading a handful of Foster’s books it’s clear to see that she loves writing her romances. I can’t think of another author who really takes the time like Foster does to build that romance from the ground up. Every page, every word is there to make the reader fall in love alongside the characters and Foster is really able to cement the fact that these two characters belong to one another.

Janie Jansen is a very independent and strong heroine who also happens to be blind. While authors tend to describe their characters as a “blind heroine” etc., Foster really makes sure that there is depth to Janie and strives to prove that the disability she has doesn’t define her. Janie is in no way shape or form in need of help.

But when she stumbles in the subway and has a near death experiment, Firefighter Boyd Hudson is there to offer a hand. At first, Janie is quite hesitant to offer help but Boyd proves that his intentions are all pure.

Between the two, there are plenty of jokes and flirting, which does an amazing job of not only building the romance, but it cuts the tension of the situation a little bit so that there is room to grow. As we start to see Janie falling for Boyd, readers get swept up in the romance while also learning something along the way.

TOUCHED BY LOVE really is a touching love story that will no doubt have readers wishing for more.

Have you ever read a book that changed you? That made you see everything in a different light? That made you feel way more for its characters than you ever thought possible? Touched by Love is that book for me. It is so powerful, so raw and so real.
Boyd Hudson went through a horrible tragedy as a child that no one should ever have to go through. Blaming himself for what he and his family endured, his scars, both physically and emotionally, run so deep that he has spent his entire adult life keeping a secret from those he loves the most.
Janie Jansen was diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease as a child. While she could still see some light, she knew that one day, that too would be gone. Having grown up with over protective parents, Janie is determined to live her life as independently as humanly possible.
I don't say this lightly, but this is without out a doubt, my favorite book that I have ever had the pleasure to read.

This is one of my favorite by far! Boyd and Janie are amazing. Alone. Together. With their friends. Their story touched my heart.

Boyd is a paramedic/firefighter/tech consultant/wanna-be doctor who meets Janie and is instantly attracted but he tries to stay away from her. Janie is a writer for the tech company and is blind. But for her it's not about her disability, it's about her independence. When Janie stays late at work one night, she and Boyd make a silly bet. When they leave the office, Janie heads to the subway and trips and falls into the subway tracks. She gets out but is injured. Boyd realized he still had Janie's phone and went to return it...sees that she's hurt and gets her to the hospital. From there they form a bond that quickly turns to love.

Boyd is trying to get in to medical school and he's applied all around the country. But now that he has found Janie, how can he leave her? Janie is comfortable with her place in NY with her best friend right next door. Can he take her away from all she knows to be with him? Does Janie even want to move? Can they find their way navigating Janie's dark world with Boyd's world of sight?

Melissa wrote a fantastic book about love and disabilities. Her research was thorough and thoughtful. Fantastic read!

I'm pretty sure this is the first time that I've come across a book where the main character is blind so that's an interesting perspective. I loved that she was fiercely protective of her independance. After a lifetime of going through what she has she needs that stability of being on her own without people smothering her. I loved that connection / spark between Janie and Boyd. I loved getting to know their pasts and what made them be who they are currently. I loved that there was that bit of space Boyd would leave so that she can do what she needs to do, because she loves her independence. I loved that he was able to convince her to pursue her dream in writing, challenging her, not babying her as if shes helpless. I loved that there was enough steam, romance, and drama to keep things interesting. Overall I really loved this book and think you readers will too!

Janie Jansen is fiercely independent despite a disability that left her without vision. After a freak accident she is forced to rely on co-worker Boyd Hudson, who is also a fireman. This situation is perfectly fine with Boyd, for he's had an office crush on Janie ever since he started working the at this office job. He uses this time for them to become more acquainted and they seem to hit it off splendidly. Problems arise when they are both offered opportunities that neither can pass up, but neither want the other to give up their dreams.
Of all the books in the Love In Bloom series, this is my most favorite couple so far.

Another five star review. I love sweet, independent, sassy Janie. Her blindness has not slowed her down at all. I really enjoyed the parts where she describes what it is like to be blind. Being totally blind in one eye helps me relate to her. Boyd is the perfect man for her. He is so caring and falls in love with Janie so fast. I cannot wait to read more about Kiki and the rest of the crew. Loved the updates on Cash and Sienna. They 're one of my favorite Remington couples.

Kobo+ Contemporary Romance Series Challenge 2025. Tropes: Disabled MC, Forced Proximity, Knight in Shining Armor, Family/Friends, Love at First Sight, Work Romance.
MC's h. Janie Jansen,27, blind, works as an editor for TEC. Her best friend is Kiki who lives next door.
H. Boyd Hudson, 29, paramedic, firefighter, medical technical writer/editor and goal to be a doctor. Has a brother Chet also a firefighter and sister Hailey who has a son.

Basic Plot: Janie left work to go home on the subway and tripped falling off the platform onto the tracks. She climbed out but has sprained her ankle. Boyd ran after her from work to give her, her cell phone she left at her desk and found her lying on the platform. He took her to the hospital by ambulance and stayed with her in her apartment taking care of her. A knight in shining armor.

How this story is related to the Remingtons: Boyd Hudson was orphaned and he and his brother Chet and sister Hailey were raised by their grandparents. Cash (Sienna's Remington) husband has been friends with Boyd since boyhood and he's like one of the fam. After Boyd and Janie are together, Kurt Remington gives Janie a literary agent contact info for her Romance novels.

Opinion: I think this was the best written story out of the Remington series even though neither MC were actually a Remington. However it does link the story to others: Peaceful Harbor, Braden's and Montgomery's. I liked how Boyd connected with Janie right away after she fell off the platform and took care of her. She blossomed after meeting him. I liked all the "Writing Research for romantic scenes". Their careers were part of the story along with their friends and family. They both had issues to work through with a little crisis near the end. It was interesting to see how Janie's bestfriend and Boyd's sister Haylie helped each of them work through their break up and feelings. They each had really good support from family and friends. The love scenes were focused on their real feelings and not just kinky lustful scenes. The only part I didn't like was the mention of Nora Roberts twice. I like reading anything else but Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel, Debbie Macomber, and Nicholas Sparks. Being popular doesn't mean greatness. I appreciate lesser known authors.

This was such a heartfelt romance to give you all the feels. It was just a fresh of breath air and touching story to pull on those heart strings and put a smile on your face. I loved everything about this story from Janie being blind to the sweet and sexy Boyd. These two were perfect together. They were those special characters that you just can’t help falling in love with.

Touched by Love is a contemporary romance set mainly in New York.

Blind heroine Janie, is fiercely independent, but when she has an accident on the subway she’s glad that it is fellow worker and part-time firefighter Boyd Hudson who comes to her rescue.

Driven by a need to protect his siblings after a house fire which killed his parents, Boyd has worked hard. He’s a fireman, volunteers at the hospital and is a medical journal consultant, but he really wants to be a doctor. But Janie’s accident has opened the gates on his emotions and now his plans are in turmoil.

Reading this was just the pick-up I needed; getting lost in Janie and Boyd’s world for a few hours of escape was wonderful. Somehow I missed picking this book up when it was first published, but I’m glad that I’ve read it now.

Touched by Love, which tells the story of Janie Jansen and Boyd Hudson is another beautiful story by Melissa Foster. This is book #6 of the Love in Bloom – Remington series and like all of her books can be read as a stand-alone.

Janie and Boyd have proven to be two of my favourite characters from Melissa’s stories.  Janie is the type of heroine I enjoy interacting with when reading books in the romance genre. I hate weak and clingy heroines, of which Janie was the complete opposite. She has a degenerative eye disease that would eventually lead to absolute blindness. However, she does not allow her lack of sight to hinder from pursuing her dreams. She is fiercely independent and hates relying on anyone to get through her day. As such when Boyd Hudson, her coworker, offered to assist her after she had a near death experience she was reluctant to accept his help.

Boyd Hudson has been attracted to Janie from the moment he laid eyes on her. However, he hid his feelings because he had plans for the future, which did not include him getting involved in a romantic relationship.  However, life has a funny way of throwing curve balls when we least expect it. Boyd Hudson was about to have his well-laid plans shaken up in ways he never expected.

I enjoyed every moment of this fun, sexy and heartwarming story. From the moment I began, I found myself immersed in the lives of Boyd and Janie. I felt every emotion that permeated the pages of this book.   I was impressed with Janie’s attitude towards life. I loved that she was able to transform her obstacles into triumphs.  Melissa’s heroes are always swoon-worthy and Boyd was no exception.  Not only was he hot, he was kind, gentle and protective of those he loved. He treated Janie with the utmost respect. He was tender and caring towards her while giving her space to exercise her independence.  They both experienced their share of pain and hurt. They were not perfect. They were broken and flawed, which made it easy to appreciate them.

The romance was intense, emotional, sexy with a hint of sweetness. Their relationship grew over time. I thought they were good for each other. Their relationship was not perfect. It had its ups and downs like any normal relationship. Janie helped Boyd to realise that he had the strength to move pass the pain of his past.  He helped her to see that relying on someone does not necessarily mean giving up your independence.

I thought the story was well written and the pacing was good. I loved how detailed the author was when describing each scene. I felt like I was actually a part of the story.

My only problem with the story was that I did not get to meet Janie’s parents. It would have been nice to see their reaction to their daughter finding the man of her dreams. Also, it would have been nice to know if they had finally accepted that Janie was self-reliant and they need not worry so much about her.

Verdict:
Touched by Love is a beautiful story about love and healing. It demonstrates that people without sight are just as capable as a sighted person.  I enjoyed this installment and I am eagerly awaiting my next Melissa Foster fix.

I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all opinions are 100% my own.

Oh Boyd. You melted my heart. I felt like Boyd should be a tough, hard to reach, bad boy fireman. He tried to be but he failed. He is so soft, cuddly, lovable, and needing love that I could not help by fall for him. Touched by Love is his story. Sure Janie is in it, there has to be a woman to fall for, but this book is all about Boyd. This is the story of a boy who lost his parents and took on the roll of mother and father to his siblings. It is the story of a man who has never properly dealt with the loss of his parents. This is the story of a man who will do anything to protect, guide, and love those who are dearest to him.

Janie is in need of a rescue and Boyd is in the right place at the right time to rescue her. She pushed him away, he pushes himself closer to her, the tug of war was so fun to watch. I knew it would be equally gratifying for them both when they came to accept they were meant for each other. There was no disappointment when they did finally realize that they had to be together.

I was incredibly impressed by the way Janie was portrayed. Being blind could be seen as a handicap but in Melissa Foster’s world it is appreciated and enhances the sense of Janie. She knows her limitations and then says she can surpass them all. She asks for help when she absolutely has to and pushes away help when she knows she can do it on her own. I loved how Janie called people out on treating her differently and expected no special treatment due to her lack of sight.

I have read all the Love in Bloom books thus far and always look forward to more. The characters make appearances in each other books but each book is a standalone story. I recommend picking up Boyd and Janie’s story then going back and picking up the rest of this series. They are all amazing.

AUDIOBOOK NOTE I love a good romance book. While the story stays the same whether reading or listening to the book I find myself learning new things about the characters that I missed when I was reading compared to listening to the book. I also catch myself feeling a different emotion when listening vs. reading the book. With Melissa Foster's books BJ Harrison is the perfect voice for her characters. He brings so much feeling, so much heart, and makes the characters come alive to the listener.

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

*** THE REMINGTONS are part of the LOVE IN BLOOM series by New York Times & USA Today bestselling and award-winning author Melissa Foster. Janie Jansen has spent her life slowly going blind. Her parents are extremely over protective and try to shield her from all that life has to offer. Her best friend Kiki helps her spread her wings and makes sure she doesn't miss out on anything life has to offer. When they graduate from college Janie and Kiki move to NYC together and have apartments next door to each other. They could live together but Janie is fiercely independent.

One weekend when Kiki is home visiting her family Janie takes a bad fall off the subway platform on her way home from work. She manages to get herself out even though she's severely sprained her ankle. When she left work she was with her friend Boyd and he had forgot to give her back her cell phone so he went in search of her in the subway and finds her alone and hurt.

Boyd is also a hot and sexy fire fighter who's parents died in a terrible fire when he was very young. He's spent his life trying to make his parents proud and is trying to get into med school. There is no room in his life for a romantic relationship. With Kiki gone for the weekend Boyd spends his time helping Janie. When the 2 of them get together sparks fly and both need to take a chance on each other and find a way to merge their lives. Boyd needs med school and Janie needs to remain independent. Will they be able to find a way?

An absolute must read. Another Melissa Foster hit!

I am a fan of Melissa Foster and have read many of her books.. but I have to say, this is definitely one of my favorites. The emotions and feelings were so real and tangible that I was caught up in the story from the very beginning.

Janie suffers from a degenerative eye disease and has lost her sight. Her disability has not stopped her independent spirit and her determination to escape the over protective world of her childhood. She has made accommodations in order to live as independently as she can. Boyd is also a survivor.. he had to face a horrible tragedy as a young child and carries the emotional and physical scars with him. He is very protective of his heart and does not share what he had to deal with as a child.

They are brought together when Janie suffers an injury that limits her mobility and her independence. He is touched deeply by her spirit and goes out of his way to take care of her. He is truly her “knight in shining armor”. Their walls begin to crumble and love finds a way to heal their hurts.

I was particularly touched by their visit to the butterfly garden as it was so symbolic of their new beginnings. The title of the book is so appropriate… Janie cannot see the love in Boyd’s eyes but she can feel it in his touches and by the beat of his heart. This is a sensual and sensitive love story that I would highly recommend.

Janie is blind. Boyd has been attracted to Janie from the moment he met her, but she has no idea. An accident brings Boyd to Janie's rescue and his feelings are now hard to hide.

Boyd was a favorite character of mine. He is kind, considerate and a fantastic big brother too. All that wrapped into a hunky firefighter who was applying to medical school. Janie's character seemed believable in her need for independence and need to not feel like a burden to people. I enjoyed how they took their relationship slow.

The plot was not that fancy and just revolved around their relationship and career goals. The conflict came to a very quick resolution, maybe too quick for my tastes. I enjoyed the secondary characters immensely and wpuld be interested in other books with them in it.

Here is the issue though, I am thoroughly confused on reading order, and if I have to read them all to get to the characters I want to read about. The book is deep in the Remmington series (which is confusing since neither character has the last name Remmington) but is also considered book 15 in the Love In Bloom series.
I found the writing interesting but I am not sure I want to invest the money in all 15 books, and so far my library does not have them.

Liked the writing, so maybe I will see if the author has a different series to try, or just wait for a book for Kiki, Chet or Haylie.

4 1/2 stars. Touched by Love is the long-awaited next book in The Remingtons series from Melissa Foster, and she does not disappoint. The characters in Touched by Love are special, and their struggles are more intense than many of the characters I've read from Ms. Foster. Janie's blindness is well depicted and as I read her scenes, I felt myself using my other senses to "see" what she is seeing in the way that she was seeing it: with her ears, with her nose, with her touch. And Boyd is the best and worst hero for her. He's wonderful from the very first page; so much so that you wonder what kind of struggles he could have in his life. But he has them, and they have made him his strong, driven, over-protective self. Which is perfect for Janie when she needs it, but smothering as she seeks to reassert her hard-earned independence. His protective streak and her independent nature may be their undoing, as each does what they think is best for them and the other, not respecting the very relationship they have fought so hard for. A wonderfully emotional, heart-tugging, sexy addition to The Remingtons and the entire Love in Bloom series.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

4.5 seductive *s

This series of books give us big issues to consider, and guide us along fascinating paths to find love. I have needed a tissue (or two) for all in the series, and smiled my widest at the joy and fun that these characters have when they are together. For feel good, sexy romance this series is the place to be.

With a very dramatic start, and then a relaxing into calmer times, we are to an extent lulled into a gentle, feel good romance - but there are many layers building to create some really clever plot lines and lessons to be learned. Little touches like Janie having a momentary pause when thinking about how she behaves with her parents, or little touches like the butterflies, all add together to make this another special book in the series. Loved the ending - and the fact that it opened more opportunities for future books!

Ms Foster, you have great skill as a wordsmith, thank you for sharing your magic with us.

Another must read by Melissa foster. Touched by love is part of the Remington's series but can also be read without reading the rest of the series since its written so you know who the characters are and they're back story. Touched by love follows Boyd and janie . Boyd is a firefighter friend of cash remmimgtons from flames of love. Janie is an editor..with a secret yearning to write romance novels. Boyd works as a consultant at the company Janie works at and they make a bet that if she can write a romance novel that he likes he with her to a romance convention if she doesn't she has to go with him to comic con. Janie is blind but fiercely independent and doesn't let it hinder her in anyway. Boyd siutuates himself in her life when she has an accident and he is rthere to help her through it. She loves the fact that he doesnt make a big deal of her being blind yet he just guides her along and describes everything to her so she knows exactly where she is and what he is seeing. A brilliantly written love story. A must read. Melissa never fails to draw her readers in to whatever situation the characters are in and every story she writes become your favourite.

Janie is a strong and independent woman, who shares a casual and flirtatious relationship with her coworker Boyd, who puts on a tough playboy pretense. True to the fun nature of their relationship, they make a silly that showcases their secret loves of romance and sci-fi and brings out their chemistry.

Janie, who is visually impaired, is involved in a terrifying accident that catapults them together past their casual friendship, as Janie finds herself in a situation that requires her to temporarily be dependent on someone in order to get through daily life activities. Boyd, the protector that he is, has lent himself to be the helper that Janie requires.

Their time spent together, surprises them due to their fast growing feelings for each other. Boyd, is a protector to his family and as a firefighter, and Janie is steadfast in maintaining the independence that she has worked so hard to achieve. Their roles are their strengths, but could also hinder their growing relationship.

In true Foster fashion, this is a story for anyone who has to choose whether to push past their damaged histories or combine their strengths and allow their relationship to flourish.

This is not your typical romance where the woman is a damsel in distress and needs saved by a big strong man. Janie may be blind but she is very independant and is very sensitive to the idea she needs help with anything. She even takes the subway in New York city alone!

Unfortunately an accident leaves her needing more help than she is comfortable admitting. Boyd offers to help her in all aspects of her healing. What Janie doesn’t know is Boyd has always had a crush on her. He just never acted on it due to his past.

Neither of them were looking for love it just happened. The saying is true “love will find you when you stop looking”. That’s the case with me and my husband. We both gave up on dating until we met and we’ve been together for 2 ½ years now.

Boyd has always wanted to go to medical school. Will their love stand the change? You’ll have to read the book to find out. Trust me you won’t be disappointed.

Not only was this book sweet and entertaining like the other books in the series, it caused me to look at things in a different perspective. Janie, the heroine in this story, is blind. However, she doesn't allow her disability to her define her or hold her back. She lives on her own in busy New York City, holds down a full time job, and rides the subway. In fact, she was so independent that there were times that I forgot she was blind. However, there are still several challenges that she faces, such as being too stubborn to ask for help. I also liked how Boyd had his own struggles to overcome and wasn't painted as a perfect hero.

In addition to the romance, this book also taught me a lot about technology used to aid the blind. For example, I wasn't aware that there was a device that translated everything on the internet into Braille.

I have been waiting for this book to come out for a while. Melissa Foster did not disappoint! This story makes you see love in a different light. It is very raw and emotional.

Boyd suffered a horrible tragedy as a child and has carried guilt from that ever since. He has secrets that he has kept bottled up never telling a soul. Then along come Janie.

Janie was born with a degenerative eye disease that has left her blind but very independent. Tragedy strikes when she falls and gets hurt relying on the help of Boyd to help her do simple tasks and maneuver around while she heals.

Sparks being to fly and Janie and Boyd begin to help each other heal from the eternal and external pain they both endure. This is such an emotional story that leaves you seeing things in a different light. You will not be disappointed in this home run of a story.

Touched by Love is the story of Janie Jensen and Boyd Hudson. Boyd belongs to the same fire station as Cash Ryder, Siena Remington's husband. He's been the over protective sibling ever since his parents died in a fire when he was a teenager. His goal has been to be a doctor and has been working toward that when Janie, a young woman who has been progressively been losing her eyesight, falls on a subway platform where Boyd finds her. So begins thier story. I loved how fiercely independent Janie is. Boyd is sweet, vulnerable and totally perfect for Janie. He needs to deal with the lost of his parents and she needs to learn that it is okay to need someone. It's a beautifully written tale. Pick up your copy today.

Touched by Love is the sixth book in The Remingtons series (Love in Bloom Book #15) by Melissa Foster. The Love in Bloom series proved to be a heartwarming journey through love, family, and personal growth. Spanning multiple interconnected series/stories, it offers a wonderful blend of romance, humor, and emotional depth that kept me reading the whole way through.
Ms. Foster crafted fully developed, relatable, and multidimensional characters who added an extra element of emotion and interest to my overall reading experience. The heroes are fiercely loyal and endearing, while the heroines are smart, empowered, and refreshingly ‘real’. Each character feels like someone you could know in real life, making their struggles and triumphs, high and lows, all the more impactful.
The stories have a perfect balance of steamy romance mixed with heartfelt moments. But that doesn’t mean that Ms. Foster shies away from exploring deeper themes like forgiveness, self-discovery, and the complexities of relationships – adding dynamic layers to the storyline/s. But, despite the emotional depth, the series still maintains more of a lighthearted charm, sprinkled with humor and tender family connections.
While each novel can be read as a standalone, there is an interconnectedness with the recurring characters and overlapping storylines - which help create a sense of community that feels warm and inviting. It’s like being welcomed into a big, loving family where everyone has a worthwhile story to tell.
‘Within the Love in Bloom big-family romance collection you'll find fiercely loyal heroes and smart, empowered women on their search for true love. They're flawed, funny, and easy to relate to. Characters from each series appear in future Love in Bloom books…’
If you are a fan of contemporary romance or simply looking for a feel-good series to escape into, this series is a worthwhile binge read…

I found it interesting that the author included this in the Remington series because while Cash Remington is our hero Boyd's co-worker at the NYFD and Sienna Remington-Ryder becomes friends with our heroine Janie, the book really isn't about one of the Remingtons.
Janie is a very different heroine from most modern romance novel heroines. She's blind. A degenerative disease has slowly robbed her of her eyesight since childhood. Now at 28 she's nearly totally blind and can only see shadows and shapes and she may even lose that ability as the disease progresses. I know readers are supposed to feel good at how Janie has managed to accept and overcome her disability but honestly I just kept feeling sad for her. Yes, she's fiercely and amazingly independent living in N.Y.C., supporting herself, etc. Yes she's learned to use her other senses to compensate for her lack of vision. But in the end, when Boyd is doing things like describing flowers to her I can't help but feel bad that she can't actually see those flowers. So during the entire story while I'm admiring her ability to adapt and lead a full life I still found myself with an ache in my heart for the young woman who would never see the beauty of a sunrise or sunset or the face of her children or the man she loves. I understand she has spent her life fighting for her independence but I still couldn't help feeling her response to what Boyd did for them was way over the top which she did acknowledge while Boyd continued to apologize and beg forgiveness for as if he'd cheated on her or something instead of being willing to make a huge personal sacrifice for her. It seems the crux of many of Melissa Foster's stories is how willing is one of the main protagonists are to change their lives for the other.
Boyd was solid as the hero of the story. I did wonder how or why he never received the counseling he needed to overcome his childhood tragedy as a child? Also for a guy who worked 2.5 jobs, the way he way he was able to constantly rearrange his work schedules to accommodate Janie or visit a medical school seemed sort of unrealistic. These are little things but they were enough to keep me from awarding this story the top grade of 5 stars. Still a great read and very touching story.
