An anonymous invitation lures Nova and Aart into the clutches of a madman. While they've been focused on the evil Confederacy, this mission will remind them that sometimes individuals can be even worse.
Saffron Bryant is an Australian author with a passion for fantasy and science fiction. She began writing at a very early age and hasn’t stopped since.
She has a degree in Biomedical Science (with honours) and recently completed a PhD in chemistry at the University of Sydney.
Unfortunately her cupboard didn’t open onto Narnia, she didn’t get a letter from Hogwarts, and a strange man in a blue box hasn’t shown up… (here’s hoping for an old Wizard on my 50th!!)
So she spends her time writing stories and releasing them to the world.
~Happy Reading!~
Saffron is best known for her science-fiction action adventure The Nova Chronicles, which she describes as "Tomb Raider in Space".
This review is for: Adventurer (The Nova Chronicles Book 7)
Having had seven back operations I can imagine how Nova might feel after having her stomach sewn-up three times; her wound, the result of being stabbed by a mobile plant with a poisonous tentacle. It should have only needed to be sewn-up once but she failed to follow the advice of her fellow Bounty Hunter to remain still and get plenty of rest. Hard to follow that advice when man-sized Scorpions in large numbers are attacking in dark catacombs on a planet that doesn't permit hi-tech devices...or weapons. Following that fight they discover there are other Bounty Hunters trapped underground with them. These were unwilling to work together to share a promised bounty to whomever was first to retrieve a forbidden statue...and tried to eliminate Nova from the competition. After teaming up with some other Bounty Hunters, who she hoped were a little less bent on killing her and a fellow Jagged Maw Bounty Hunter she met while fighting off the Scorpions, they find a way out of the tunnels only to run into a large band of Reapers. These Reapers seem to be a cross between Vampires and Zombies. They're strong, fast and hungry. Like Vampires and Zombies a bite (or any exchange of body fluids) is not only deadly, it will Turn you into one of them. The Reapers also have the ability to quickly heal after almost any wound but are susceptible to a well placed head shot. After defeating these Reapers, by no means an easy task, (their numbers have grown by "Turning" many earlier Bounty Hunters who fell for the same Bogus Mission), our small team now confronts the ultimate obstacle to their escape. A Super Robotic Warrior with amazing weapons and the ability to mend itself promptly after sustaining almost any damage from return fire. I normally don't like to reveal too much of the story line, especially the ending, so I'll stop here. There's got to be more to this great series so you'll have to trust Nova and her old & new friends to "live to fight another day". You've got to wonder how much more this poor dear woman (who by her own reckoning has killed more than several hundred) can tolerate. In a desperate attempt to meet her ultimate goal we learn she is planning to break INTO a prison no one has yet to escape from in order to learn a secret that she hopes will finally help free her from the oppressive Human Confederacy. In my review of Book Six I said that was the fastest I'd ever read a book [two days]. If you check the date on that review you'll see it was Jan 18th, 2016, the same date as this review. I've set a new "Personal Best" by reading Book Seven and writing the review in just one day. These books are that good; I can't put them down. Review by "THE HOLEY ONE"
More monsters and an insane lunatic trick the bounty hunters into another fight for their lives. I don't know how Nova manages to survive. I love how each monster is more dangerous than the last.
