No Surrender

Hugh Segal is that rare political a Progressive Conservative partisan who is liked and respected by members of all political parties and who is one of our favorite political pundits. He brings clear-eyed. pragmatic and humorous perspective to this candid and thoughtful memoir a book that reflects on the true mission of the Progressive Conservative Party and offers insights into Canada's most powerful leaders and their political strategies, past, present and future. Forthright, wry and unabashedly partisan - like Hugh Segal himself - No Surrender is an engaging personal and political read.

An interesting book looking at the fairly recent past of Canadian political history, but one that is very different than the political climate of today. Segal played a key role in federal politics, especially in the 80s and 90s, and this book details the various momentous occurrences - sovereignty referendums, elections, etc. - from his unique insider's perspective. I wouldn't say this book has wide appeal, as it does get into the nitty gritty of political minutiae, but if you're interested in Canadian politics, and especially understanding the era that came before this current one, I'd recommend it.

You’d have to already know about Canada and this guy to enjoy it. It says #1 national bestseller... according to who?
